It's about a downtown as one can get, and easy to find. Inside The Side Rail looks larger than it does from the outside. It's nicely railroad themed with train signage, photos, and memorabilia around the place. Since it was Thursday evening around dinner time, the place was kinda hopping. There were no table available so we sat at the bar. The menu is sizable and has a lot of really appetizing items and it was, legit, hard to chose. I selected the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese (Texas toast smothered in jalapeno cream cheese spread and bacon, along with cheddar and pepper jack cheeses) with onion rings. They have, on our visit, about 6 different beers on tap, and from what we were told they're ever-changing. There were a number of screens behind the bar showing sporting events. The bar, itself, was adorned railroad style, of course, with real model railroad track. It was a very cool touch. Food delivery was less than 10 minutes, and it was served HOT, and the the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese was exactly what I needed/expected. The onion rings were excellent (however, I did ask our server and they're not made/breaded their, but come out of a frozen bag. :( ) Nonetheless, they were fantastic. Our server (whose name escapes me) was great and answered all of our questions without hesitation. She also kept our iced teas topped off. The Side Rail is a fun, neighborhood kinda place with awesome theming and friendly staff. I wish this was closer to home. I could hang out here regularly.

Captain D's Seafood Kitchen is a regional chain,founded about 50 years ago. There's actually 546 of them but this was my first. Its very bright and modern, with a seashore vibe. The menu looked extensive but I went with the standard 2 piece,fries, cole slaw and a root beer. The fish was crispy, as were the fries. And they didn't monkey with the fries, just fried them. No coating, no seasonings. Perfect. They forgot my slaw but no demerits. Tarter sauce, ketchup and mustard were dispensed out of pumpers which was great because you can never have enough tartar sauce. And bottles of real Malt Vinegar!. Its sleek lines and modern structure stand out among the modest buildings that surround it. Every inch of its interior and exterior are detailed in lavish sophistication. We stayed in the Spa Suite- a beautiful, spacious room with a deep soaking tub perfect for relaxing. Snacks, drinks and card games are within easy reach, tempting you from their station on the oversized desk (for a charge, of course). We skipped slipping into our robes and ordering room service and went down to the hotel bar instead. The bar offers a number of handcrafted cocktails, I was so conflicted about which to order that I told the bartender I would just go down the list- and she happily obliged. Dinner hadn't quite started yet so we ordered food from a limited lunch menu and made friends with the bar patrons. After all, it's still a small town and everyone around is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, due to my overly enthusiastic cocktail buffet, I didn't make it to dinner. Luckily, I had a gorgeous room to stumble back to, and when I woke up, the minibar snacks and drinks truly saved my night. I absolutely think you get great value for the price of a stay here. You get the sophistication of a luxury hotel without the steep price and pretentiousness that you'd find at a similar hotel in a bigger city. I can't wait to return!

It was getting…read morelate and I was beyond wore out and tired so did not want to really go anywhere but was hungry.Bob Evan's is right next to the hotel I stay at when I am in town so I just put in a carry out order.I ordered the steak tips with double mashed potatoes and gravy,a blueberry lemonade,and a strawberry shortcake like pie.This is probably one of the worst meals I've had while traveling.The steak tips were way overcooked with the amount of onions outweighing the meat.The amount of gravy on the entire meal was very lacking, I mean very lacking.It was almost like they distributed the gravy with a eye dropper.As for the pie and lemonade they were definitely the stars of the meal.The lemonade had a good mix of sweet and tart loaded with actual blueberries.The pie nothing special but was really good tasting.Not sure if it was a off day but Bob Evan's Wapakoneta please do better.

The omelette came with the wrong meat and on the inside. The waiter did not return for a very long time to check in as he had switched to bar service for a little while. I ended up just eating what was served because it had already taken so long to get our food and no one was checking on us. When the bill came we paid it with a card and when it was brought there was a 3% charge for credit card (I know a lot of places have started doing this but it should be shared with patrons before they pay). Again, they also over charged for the discounted item. We did just pay and go because we had someplace to be and we were already late because everything g took so long. This was our 3rd try at the Syndicate and we just haven't been impressed with anything but the vibe. The vibe is the best thing about it. The food has always been mid and over priced at best.
