We stopped here on our way to Kentucky and we are so glad we did! There was a wait of maybe 15 minutes as the place was hopping on a Friday night, and I can see why. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and our waitress was great and recommended the spinach dip. We split the dip and the Drunken Swine flatbread and they both were very good. We are already planning to stop here on the way back and maybe try the pickle pizza and the bison burger. We thought about getting the peanut butter pie for dessert but were too full, next time for sure! The ambiance is very cozy too with a mix of historic and modern feel. This is the cutest small town restaurant & the bartender was sweet! My friend & I stopped in on our way home from a funeral that was 3 hours away from home. We had never been to Wapakoneta before but needed some food after a long day. We saw the reviews for J Marie's were great & a lady at a shop nearby told us we should check it out! It was very good! We tried the crab dip & the pickle pizza. The bartender made me a yummy spicy margarita as well-- & it was only $6! A steal! Prices were excellent. Crab dip was my favorite. read more

What a lovely spot! My friend recommended J Marie's and I'd never been to Wapakoneta before so I was game. It's got a huge bar and table seating in a cute space. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing. I had the taco pizza and my friend had a sandwich with a gluten free bun. Both were delicious and my friend actually comes here specifically for their gluten free items. Travel weekly for work as a maintenance mechanic and one of my plants I'm responsible for is in Wapakoneta. Today the plant manager was kind enough to take me to lunch.This is the restaurant she chose and I was not disappointed. We were immediately greeted at the door and were told to choose our own seats.The waitress was very friendly and was prompt with taking our drink orders. I wish I was not on the clock because their bar seemed to have a good selection of different alcohols with some I have never saw. They even had a few decanters on the shelf I wish I would have asked about. I asked for a Dr. Pepper but the waitress let me know they have a soda like it but not the actual brand. I also regret not asking the brand of the soda because it was actually more flavorful than Dr. Pepper. I ordered the bison burger and red potatoes and my boss ordered a pizza.Our food came out pretty quickly and looked great.I did not try the pizza but it looked cooked perfectly with a nice crisp on the crust, next time I will try the pizza for sure it reminded me of my times in Italy.The red potatoes were cooked nicely and seasoned tastefully. The bison burger came with pickles, a green relish type mixture, and a dab of what I believe was a blue cheese.All though the meat could of used some more seasoning, the relish was more like a sweet jam spread and paired perfectly with the bison.Greatly enjoyed my lunch and without a doubt will be returning soon. read more

Came to this joint passing through on the way somewhere else. Was a good sunny day. Wanted good food. A cold drink. Wapak doesn't have much to offer besides chain fast food, so we ventured downtown because we heard rumors of a few fairly newer places. We just walked in and sat at the bar, had lunch and a few drinks. The service was quick and efficient. The atmosphere was interesting, because it felt like the size could suffocate you being an old, narrow building, but the roominess was spot-on. Everything was great. We were in town for our nephews swim meet and wanted to try something different for lunch so we decided to stop in J Marie's and so glad we did. The food was delicious! We started with the Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms as an appetizer and they were even better than we expected. For our main course I had the Wood-Fired Ham & Cheese with a side of Mac/Chz. My husband had the Drunken Swine Flatbread. Both were absolutely amazing and the portions were plenty. We were stuffed by the time we were done. It's a fun and unique restaurant with 2 wood stoves and a full bar. The staff were casual and friendly. From where we sat we could see the cooks and they were doing a great job and paying attention to detail of their work. If you haven't been here yet I highly recommend it. read more

This great spot is located on the cute main strip of Wapakoneta. After celebrating a graduation in Ada, we travelled here from a recommendation. We were able to be seated immediately even though it was busy during the lunch/brunch rush on a Sunday. It took a while for us to get our drinks. After we ordered we waited a while and we received 3 out of the four entrees while we waited 10 minutes for the 4th entree. Maybe it was an off day for the staff but we wanted to wait to eat together. I ordered the open faced mushroom sandwich which was pretty small. It was tasty and it did say it was served on crostini, but in no way was it the size of a sandwich. I upgraded to Mac n cheese for a side and thankfully I did because even after finishing I was still a bit hungry. The Mac n cheese was creamy and delicious with lots of garlic flavor in it. They have multiple brick ovens so we also tried the margherita pizza. This was tasty. If I was ever in the area again I would opt for more of the pizza options! read more

This place was interesting. They have a somewhat higher end menu than you would expect from the looks of the place, which are pretty basic. The bison burger was pretty good, but I would get it without the Boursin cheese unless you really love the stuff. My son's sandwich was underwhelming. We have never been here before today. We stopped here on our way to visit our daughter in Georgia. It has a great atmosphere. The building is historic. It was a grocer back in the day, and many other businesses since. They have done a nice job decorating to make it a cozy and comfortable space. There were four in our party and when we arrived there weren't any tables available for four, it was pretty busy, but there were seats at the end of the bar so we decided the bar it was. Being on the end was nice, two of us at one side, two on the other side and we were able to have conversations easily enough. Amanda was our bartender, waitress, server, etc! She first off offered us a "goody menu", (adult beverage menu)! She was friendly and gave us a little history of the building. Which I personally loved! She told us some of her favorite menu items, namely the chicken bacon ranch calzone, she also said the burgers were really good and many folks raved about the Reuben, which she does like Reuben's so it's not her thing. Now for the food, it was amazing. We were all very pleased. We started with French onion soup, it was a perfect portion, the ratio of stock, onions, bread and cheese was done right. The stock was rich, dark brown with a little wine flavor. And the best part, not too salty. We had a pepperoni pizza, a burger and the open faced mushroom sandwich. We had a couple of sides of Mac and cheese, oh my! The pizza had a lot of pepperoni then covered with a lot of cheese. They are wood fired pizzas and the crust was thin and crispy, not soggy like some others mentioned and not burned at all! Well done! The burger was large, seasoned and cooked perfectly, the bun was sesame seed and toasted, so tasty or as our daughter put it, "best burger she has had in a long time". The open faced mushroom sandwich was truly a wonder for my taste buds. So many flavors, married so well. There were two nice sized Portabella mushrooms served on garlic crostinis, topped with an artichoke bruschetta and a tomato puree that was so tasty! The mac and cheese was a great side dish. It was rich and creamy, the pasta wasn't over cooked and it was topped with sharp cheddar and was melty and gooey. So good. Happy that we stopped here and pleased with all of our choices! I've been here a couple of times due to friends wanting to stop in. It's not a place I frequent but the food is alright. It's a little pricey for me and it's kind of cozy inside. I wish there was a little more privacy while dining but they work with the room they have. It's usually busy so be prepared to wait. A lot of people would say it's worth the wait but it's just not a place I'm into. The service is usually good though! read more

I think there's a management &training issue here. I came in from out of town to visit a friend and she said this place was great. Long story short, it was not. We added out name to the 30 minute wait list then got a text 5 mins later. Upon our return, the host indicated she planned on seating us (party of 2) at a 4-top with two other people. We asked if we could sit at an open (dirty) 2-top and she said she'd have to ask the other 2 people she was going to seat with us first. This whole interaction was weird and now we were standing in the middle of the restaurant not sure what to do. Finally got seated and received the smallest glass of water ever. All the other tables had regular sized waters so idk what that was about . The pepperoni roll came out first and was good but the sauce was ice cold which was weird. Pizza took FOREVER. When it did came out,our two pizzas (both the same type, margheritas) looked different. My friend said she had ordered it before and it was not supposed to look like that. I included a picture of what it should look like. The pizzas were so overloaded with toppings that it was both burnt and also sopping wet. We asked for it to be put in again but there really was no fixing that. I did not eat even half of it. Hopefully they are able to get more reliable with their menu items. This is the kind of place you expect to find in a trendy urban neighborhood or as a hidden gem in a busy college campus. What hits you right away is the modern decor and the open layout of this restaurant. We were surprised at the menu and the unique items that were clearly inspired by the surrounding sources of meat and produce. The kids had the wood fired pizza and it was gone quickly as was the mac and cheese. I had the salmon burger, which was served open faced with an egg on top. My wife shared it with me as she had some French onion soup. It was perfect for the cold of November, when we had come to enjoy Thanksgiving with our family. This is a very good local type b&g. Wide selection of different beers. I had a stout, which was great. They specialize in a variety of craft pizzas (which I didn't have). I had the bison burger with Boursin cheese and a sweet sauce. Very good, though I would order medium if I had to do it over. My wife had the Reuben. She liked it; not too fatty.
