I review burritos and this one was no bueno! In a sea of "authentic" Mexican restaurants Luis's Restaurant makes little effort to stand out. I order the same thing everywhere I go. Green Salsa Wet Carne Asada Burrito, and a Coke. I hope Pepsi is okay for you here. All this costs you $16.65 plus tax. The presentation is a familiar one, seems like there's only one way to display a burrito in this county. I'll be honest, I never pick up my burritos. I gave up a long time ago. This ones another fork and knifer. Salsa is watery, it's decent, but little to no texture. The guacamole tastes uneventful, I love guacamole and this felt like a chore to spread on my burrito because there was no payoff. Same goes with the quality of the beans, rice, and cheese. I couldn't taste them. Carne Asada was tough a five dollar steak, which is really common for most Mexican restaurants so about average. As for the overall experience it was a little slow. I only got one refill on my Pepsi. I hope you love ice if not I strongly recommend no ice. I was here for about an hour, I'm a slow eater. I don't see myself returning, unless invited to. read more

I've been eating at this restaurant for many years. I have always loved the food. The Owner, she is an excellent cook; she puts a lot of love into he cooking. I wish she cooked the food most of the time, but she deserves a break, so I still stay and order food, even when she is not cooking. The owner's daughter "America" is a super friendly, attentive waitress. She is always helpful and goes out of her way to make sure you need something. Let me start by saying the food is amazing BUT the customer service is 0/10. I usually get street tacos on Tuesdays because of their taco Tuesday deal, but when I called in to pick up, I was told to go in. Okay no problem. I went into Luis to place my order to go, and I had 2 of their female servers walk straight in front of me at the register, and then completely ignore me. I stood there with the server in front of me for 5 minutes, and then she walked away. The other female server, asked if I needed anything and when I tried to order she rushed the whole thing . I corrected her on my order 4 times. This is not typical from them at all, and I am deeply disappointed in the service that was provided. read more

This is one of our go-to restaurants for lunch after church. They have an extensive menu and the food is great. The prices are reasonable and they also have lunch specials. The portions are generous. The chips are warmed, most of the time, and they offer two salsas; one mild and one spicy. As a matter of fact, we ate there today. We were surprised to see it's newly decorated with beautiful, bright colored chairs and tables, with the same design as the chairs, decoupaged in the tops. Simply understaffed. Food is good and great location and convinient. I have heard their ads on the radio and decided to try out their Birria tacos. Ive been there 3 times and all 3 times it is full during rush hour 5-7pm with only 1 or 2 waiters working. Noones fault as times are hard and workers are hard to find but the service does suffer and they simply cannot keep up with amount of people. They also have a drive thru that also does not help their service times. Other than service time and understaffing, the Horchata is good and the Birria tacos were delicious. I wish I could give no stars. Did the drive through after 6 hours drive and the male server was rude and insult. No menu prices, $50 for the food no utensils, no napkins, and just shoved the food out the window; slammed the window shut the second my hand touched the the bag. No thank you, no F*** you . Partner went back to ask for napkins and was told there was a state law against providing napkins and in exact so to "f*** off". The only reason they get any stars is because the food is aLways REALLY good. And that's usually all that should matter. 5 stars whenever they get their serving staff together. Usually I come here for a full meal - but after waiting 20minutes just to put my drink and app order in (then 45 MINUTES just to get some dips) - I wasn't going to waste more time with a full meal. The fastest service I got was when I asked for the check. There were 2 servers and 3 tables, not including myself. That's just insane. Even if one person is taking care of to-go food/ orders. All and all - it took over an hour - with 95% of the time spent just waiting around. And usually I like give people the benefit of the doubt - but that was just too wild man. If given a choice would I pick this place again? Doubtful here's why... Chips and salsa are average, the hot salsa does have a kick to it that's a plus, after our first basket they never offered us more...rude. I ordered a red enchilada with shredded beef, the corn tortilla has a weird texture to it, the red sauce could use a little more flavor but it had a generous portion of meat. I also got the taquitos with mango salsa which was on their specials it was more like fish tacos. The fish was good and the sauce they put on them had nice Smokey flavor. The mangos however, were not ripe at all, in fact some were green. I think if you have something on your specials, it should be um...special. Mango salsa should have nice dark orange flavorful mangos, if you don't have ripe mangos I would perhaps not offer that as a special. The atmosphere is ok, it's decorated nicely, the furniture is pieced together and basic. They were out of flan and we were there at 2, so that was disappointing. Overall service was average, food was ok. I know people who really like it here I however, was underwhelmed. Paid 13.90+tax. On a quest to find the best Mexican food in Humboldt. I came in to pick up a California burrito.. it was a very interesting interaction with the men at the front. It felt like they didn't know what was going on. One of the guys showed a lot of frustration for entering something wrong in the register not really sure what happened there but he was slamming a card down very aggressively which of course being a new customer didn't make me feel comfortable. Been goin to this place since I was little. Everything is truly made fresh everyday and it's hands down the best Mexican food in all of Humboldt. Their atmosphere is great, all the employees are super friendly and the price to quality ratio is the best you'll find. Love these guys and their restaurant. I tried this place twice before writing this review. Our phone order was messed up so I thought going in next time would help. Going inside helped bridge the language barrier we had via phone, but I can't stand their burritos. The burritos aren't wrapped. Apparently they think when you want a burrito you want it spilling from the sides. I didn't ask for a giant taco. I didn't ask for a wet burrito (though I would still want it packed tightly), and I didn't ask for An open face sandwich. I asked for a burrito. A small task for a Mexican restaurant. When I asked the server about it she said the tortillas are too small. Then order some bigger tortillas and give the people what they asked for: a well wrapped, unopened burrito we can eat with out hands. Looking for a good Mexican restaurant where you can be socially distant, try Luis's. They have outside seating. On Sunday afternoon July 26th, my husband and I came across Luis's Mexican Restaurant in Eureka. The food and drinks were outstanding! We had carne asada tacos, chicken and carne asada enchiladas, pork tamale and a chile relleno. I heard the restaurant makes a less spicy chile relleno and a more traditional one. I chose the less spicy one. Everything was delicious including the rice and beans. There are over 30 tequilas on the menu. I had the Margarita with Dolce Vida Tequila on the rocks with salt, yummy! The food at Luis's is made with fresh ingredients, hardy and reasonably priced. Our waiter was super nice and attentive. We were very pleased with the overall experience of eating here. read more

The tacos were good. The service was horrible. We waited 20 minutes just to get a coke. The tacos 30 minutes. When we asked when the food would be ready. the waitress named America said in a nasty tone " you are just going to have to wait". We were the only table there. The waitress just did not care.
