Picnic table next to the tennis courts
    Debbie S.

First time at this park and totally impressed. Very large park with beautiful green grass, mature Liquid Amber trees, and plenty of space for a variety of activities. There are two baseball fields, a children's playground, and two tennis courts. Picnic tables so you can enjoy a meal al fresco (saw quite a few people doing that tonight). Lots of parking both in the lot and on the street. And with the surplus of trees, there are many shady spots. In the children's play area there are cute cement blocks squares modeled into dice and a checkerboard. The entire park has lights so games can be played at night. It looked like there's room for soccer to be played at the same time as baseball. The bathrooms are clean and free of graffiti. There's even soap, toilet paper, and working dryer (something most public park bathrooms lack). And surprisingly there's an electric outlet on the wall near the stalls. Although, I'm not really sure why.

Google maps do not show the exact area. We used our Garmin GPS and placed Luiseno Park. Take Vandegrift Blvd towards Douglas Drive and head west. Take Douglass Drive towards Teal Way and head south. The parking area is to your immediate left. It is a very nice, clean park. There are many amenities for adults and children. We enjoyed the walking path surrounding the park and its scenery. This park was created to display the heritage and culture of the San Luis Rey Luiseno Band of Mission Indians. Thank you for your time, Lboy O.

I love this park for everything it offers minus the mosquito population it houses on warm evenings! Those things show absolutely no mercy! Have you ever had a mosquito bite on your eyelid?! Yeah, no fun. My soccer league uses this park every other season or so and we generally enjoy the space! It offers two baseballs fields/soccer fields (whatever your preference may be), also has a really up to date park area for the small and rambunctious people we call children. Parking lot is decent, not the biggest, but the surrounding neighborhood allows for good overflow parking. There could be more lighting in the evenings, especially in the parking lot. Bathrooms are park bathrooms: guess it's just a standard for those to be so-so. (#OTNB). Seems like a nice and expansive park to take a hearty walk or jog around, lots of sidewalk...just pack some serious mosquito repellent if you don't want to be eaten alive by irritating insects!

I love the park considering the fact it's so close to home! Though I barely moved in last year, I figured out that HOA doesn't allow basketball hoops in the neighborhood. At my last house, it was a cul-de-sac so it was understandable that they allowed hoops. I was hoping figure out who to contact when it came to building anything on Luiseño and I was hoping they could add a street court/black top. So that anyone who loves to play basketball around the area wouldn't have to go through HOA's terms and drive to Mance Buchanon or Melba Bishop. All in all, it's a great area. The park is very large and useful when it comes to recreational activities. Football, Soccer, any sport that requires a field area is great to play in this area. I take my cousins to the playground at times and there are also tennis courts for anyone interested. I've spent my 7th birthday at Luiseño so to house great parties, this is one of the beat areas.

    Boulder face and ball.

The camp spots are all quite close to each other with not much privacy, but that wasn't a problem for me. If you plan on pitching a tent, I really hope you have mats (like we did) because the ground is (as you can see) plain dry ground. The park itself seems really great for biking and just walking around. They have long and short trails with lots of nature to look at. The lakes themselves are not too big, but I did see people fishing. There are many benches throughout the trails. There were also many trees that gave me many options for putting my eno up! Amenities: - 50¢ for 4 min showers - the bathroom is only for campers and it was SO clean. The shower was really warm and i actually felt clean after using it lol

That's the Western half that is more like the park. The Eastern half has walking trails that are more like a nature preserve. Some reviewers commented about how the trails are unkempt, and that's mostly true on the Eastern side and the Nature Trail. It wasn't too bothersome, as most of the trails were wide enough. The annoying part, though, is that there's a lot of dry, dead weeds/plants that carpet the trails with little splinters, which inevitably get into my shoes and jab me. Other than that, it's an easy, flat-ish 4 miles of walking. Lots of birds by the lake. Parking is paid in the lot, but there's also free parking along the street.

I could just see my kids getting bored...and then saying..."Are we going home? I'm bored!". Well, Rancho Del Oro solved that problem...how?! Let me tell you! They have a nice area cornered off for kids! No really, it's true! It's right by the tennis courts. So, parents, take note...get there early, and set up right before the ground slopes downward. Kids can play and be within sight at all times. A group of hula hoop dancers brought out tons of hula hoops after their performance for the kids to play with. There were gymnastic mats too. I really couldn't believe how content my kids were. Two opening acts, and the the main act came out. The Mar Dels were the big performers tonight. I've wanted to see them forever...and they didn't disappoint. Tons of cover songs from the 1950-1970's, and a nice sized danced floor right infront of the stage. People were thoroughly enjoying their Friday night....and was this girl! My kids played while my friend and I ate pizza, brownies, and drank beer. Family friendly, dog friendly, great venue...I'll be back!

I had picnics took walks both days. I stayed to watch the sunset on Saturday And opted for a different location to view the sunset on Sunday. This is a great park for people watching. I saw people walking , walking their dog, jogging, flying kites, reading under a tree, scrolling social media, picnicing, Bbqing, playing basketball, playing on swings and play structutes, working on their vehicles, organizing thier vans, riding bicycles of every description laying or sitting in the sun or shade and taking pictures and selfies, and one old veteran playing his guitar- that was me. I was hopping some friendly person would stop by so I could ask them to take a picture, but that didn't happen. This beautiful park sits on a hilltop and offers a panoramic view of the neighborhood, and a somewhat different sunset experience over your typical ocean view. The park has paved walking paths, basket ball courts, a volleyball court, lawns suitable for any number of sports a clean restroom and a fairy large parking area, I highly recommend this park. It was a highlights of my Spontaneous weekend roadtrip.
