    Siopao, Chicken Empanadas(in the box)
    Jason B.

I'd been in here, maybe, twice since my most recent visit. And, apparently, I failed to take a proper look around the store. The previous two times I was there, I was there for empanadas. On my most recent visit, however, while empanadas were definitely on the shopping list, I found they had a lot more than I realized: I knew they carried pan de sal(I bought two bags before on a previous trip), but, they also had Hopia, Siopao, Bibingka(I thought I saw some there), as well as other treats, not mention hot food. The place is small, but there's plenty to choose from, and there are two(maybe three? I can't remember clearly) tables(with chairs, of course) for you to sit at should you choose to eat. If you need to get your fix of Filipino foodstuffs, and treats, this is one of quite a few options in the area.

went to Luisaand son bake shop while I was down in SoCal on my last trip there was definitely alot of selection for both fried food, food to go and pastries sadly when I purchased ube ensaymadas it didnt make it the next day! mold was growing on them and i saw coconut strips on the top i dont like macapuno and didnt think to get anything else will want to try other filipino pastries when im down there next

Didn't know this spot was here until recently! Go to spot for hopia! Don't have to travel for close to 1 hr or more to the Artesia location! Taste yummy as always!

A small Filipino Bakery that has different kinds of Filipino desserts, such as, Mango with Cheese Bread, Mocha Mamon, Ube Bread, Mango Bread, Polvoron, and Pandesal, etc. I bought Food for the Gods, Cheese Ensaymada, and Ube Bread. ::Sweets:: Food for the Gods is similar to a date and walnut bar. It is wrapped in foil and blue cellophane. From what I've tasted it's supposed to be soft and sticky. This one was grainy and very dry. (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rkYq2Z4Cso4KDE8pUGDH5w&userid=NO5e0WtLAOYcjheLU6OEVg) (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=6tqwxbtnVWT24iWjVM2DHQ&userid=NO5e0WtLAOYcjheLU6OEVg) The Cheese Ensaymada is a sweet bread smothered with a mixture of sugar, butter, and shredded cheese. Unfortunately, the bread tasted old and dry as well. (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pXPpfl6u8lx1md1UvRqWuQ&userid=NO5e0WtLAOYcjheLU6OEVg) Ube Bread is purple yam rolled into the bread. The bread was soft but it had no flavor and the ube was very bland. (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=NO5e0WtLAOYcjheLU6OEVg) ::Rating:: My 2 Star rating is only based on what I tasted.

Egg pie. A bit overcooked. Not as good as the Artesia location.

I'm addicted to Luisa's egg pie which I had not too long ago from their Artesia bakery. Since I was running errands in the South Bay, I figured I'd stop by and grab at the Carson bakery for the aunts during Christmas. Located in a plaza not to far away from the intersection of Carson / Main, it's tucked in the lower corner across from B of A. The refrigerator had stacks of egg pie along with other desserts. I grab 7 pies piled high. There were also a bunch laid outside the table. Looks like they were stocking up for the big Christmas celebrations. My sister loves their ensaymada and so I picked up ube, macapuno, pandan & macapuno. The cashier was an older lady. She was nice and helpful. I thought she was Luisa but she mentioned to me Luisa passed years ago. God rest her soul! I had a handful of goodies and so they gave me a box to carry all my stuff. I did notice that the prices here are a little higher than the Artesia location ($7 vs $6.50 for egg pie). Not sure if it was done that way for the Christmas season. I mentioned to her I came from LA and she was thankful for the business. An hour later when I get home, I tear into one egg pie. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't as good as the Artesia version. It seemed more dense, sweeter, and overcooked (had bubbles). The caramelized top looked different. It's still good but not as good as what I had prior to. A bit annoying that recipe and pricing are different among the two locations. Who knows, maybe they took some love out for Christmas to get mass production done since it appeared it wasn't mixed well, overly sweet, and probably cooked too fast at high heat. Who knows? I'll stick to the ensaymada here next time.

A small store with vareity of Filipino desserts. I like their empanadas, packed with fillings rather than thicker dough.

Expect a line, always. If there's a wait, that just means they're busy and always in demand of fresh breads! I highly suggest coming in the morning versus afternoon because they will run out. If you do need huge quantities, then preorder. There's only one cash register at all times, hence the long wait. Be patient! I love that it's in a huge plaza with Seafood City, Jollibee, Chow King and Red Ribbon! Parking is huge but again, it's always busy here! Plan accordingly. If you've read this far, thanks! (: I've been going to this Valerio's since childhood. This is our go-to for fresh pandesal! My parents and relatives always bought from here. I've tried a handful of their breads--ube, cheese pimiento, pan de coco, cheese filled pastries! You name it! You can't go wrong with any of their goodies. I especially love ordering from their glass shelves! There's Turon, Suman, Eggrolls, hopia, empanadas..the choices are endless! They always offer pancit, pandan, bilo-bilo, nilupak, palitaw, Puto bumbong, puto flan and more! It's hard to pick just one favorite since everything is so delicious! Dare I say, you must try everything?!
