JOY Bakery! Omg, I've tried EVERY pan de sal spot in the South Bay and nothing, nothing, beats Joy Bakery! Their pan de sal is perfectly small, soft, and airy, never dense, oooh I cant stand dense oan de sal. My 7-year-old can eat six in one sitting, that's how good they are. I probably come here 4x a week in the morning when they're hot and fresh. I do wish they opened a little earlier since they're listed at 7:30 AM... but let's just say it's more of an "ish" sometimes. Aside from the pan de sal, they also have the best lumpiang gulay (vegetable eggrolls) in town -- perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. Definitely one of my absolute favorite bakeries in Carson. If you haven't tried it yet, RUN, dont walk. read more

I've been here a few times and it's small and has all the essentials. Parking is ok. The lot is small and shared with a lot of businesses. This is in the same plaza as Goldilocks. Lots of options here, pandesal, Biko, kutsinta, bibingka, halo halo, etc. everything you can think of except fresh pastillas. The items are fresh. This is a good option but there are so many Filipino bakeries in this area. Service is ok. Somewhat slow service. It's clean inside. Generally ok place. Nothing special. read more

It reminds me of the Philippines, where you can just walk down the street and pick up fresh, warm baked goods. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. We had a large pre-order for Easter and though they don't have an online system that could give you a confirmation number, they did honor our phone order. Even though we communicated through a third party, every single item I ordered was there and the price quoted to me was the same as what I had to pay when I came to pick up. Also, the order was ready on the date and time that I requested. When I arrived, I noticed that they offer a lot more than what I've ordered. In the very short time that I was in there, I noted that they have the following Biko - sweet sticky rice cooked with coconut milk and brown sugar. Cassava Cake - a dense cake made from cassava (a root vegetable), milk, coconut milk, sugar, butter, cheese and is topped with, well the closest description I could think of is "flan". Pichi Pichi - bite sized desserts made with cassava roots also but with no milk. Turon - deep-fried, egg-roll-wrapper-wrapped, plantains with caramelized sugar coating it. Puto - essentially a steamed cake Kutsinta - steamed rice flour cakes Kropek - shrimp flavored crackers Pan De Sal - bread rolls JOY'S BAKERY is part of a large center with other interesting looking food establishments. There was a large free parking lot in the center. There was no line to get in and no line to pay for our stuff. There is no place to sit inside or outside. Grab and go only. Haven't tried any of the savory here yet but I picked up a dozen of Turon today. Fried banana & jack fruit, not a combination I come across often in this type of Pilipino goodies, wrapped in crispy caramelized shell. It's a great light option for dessert and Joy Bakery has some of the best turon I've eaten right in the heart of Carson. Definitely my go to place in the Southbay when I'm not in Cerritos for some turon. Next time will have to try the crispy patata or the chicken adobe read more

Love this bakery!! I always get pandesal here. It's my fave and the closest to what I used to get back home. Fluffy, slightly sweet and delicious. Way better than Valerio's imo. I always get them hot and fresh even around noon! It seems like they make it all day. A bag of 10 pcs is only $3 something!! Its still fairly cheap given the inflation! They are still reasonably priced, knowing that the prices skyrocketed EVERYWHERE! Another favorite is their veggie spring roll!!! The dip is just so good as well! Its always a hit at parties too. They fry them fresh daily but u cant expect them to be hot all day, let's be realistic here. I dont even eat it all right away even when i get them fresh from the fryer. I just pop them in the air fryer and theyre soo good! Most of all, my favorite is the cashier! Im not sure if she's ate joy lol or the owner but she's extremely nice, warm, and friendly! This is a staple in my family's indulgent purchases! Joy's Bakery offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, plus an array of Filipino classics (think traditional and purist ingredients. Not over exaggerated color & additives like major chain bakeries). I always feel welcomed here (despite me trying to to remember the names of the baked goods my family always order). It's unfortunate the last few reviews had off days, but the baked goods my family buys from here are consistent and delicious. As a first generation, the baked goods always remind my parents of home. Hi, I'm Nick H.and I Love Pandesal! This is a new owner of a previous bakery at the same location. She told me the workers were the same. The prices are unbeatable. I spent a whopping 4 bucks for a pandasal and Pan de Ube and Pan de Leche. Mabuhay! Pan de Ube -4.5 Stars! mmmm the bread was so soft and fluffy like a baby's bottom minus the crack. The middle was filled with thick ube paste. I bought a pack of 6 and ate four of them before I could make it out of the parking lot. Pan de Leche was lacking flavor and was dry. i got the last bag so maybe it was older. I have had better. 2 Stars. Customer service was very nice and parking is relatively easy. read more

There's a new Filipino bakery in town and it's called Joy Bakery. My mom and I noticed Joy Bakery after I saw some bright neon signs and a big red star balloon outside. We saw some folks go in and knew it was open. Walking in the place looks very neat. They have their breads and pastries to the left. The pastries I noticed were mamon (Filipino sponge bread) and chocolate cupcakes. They also have desserts like leche flan. At the counter, they have some lumpia (egg rolls), turon (banana egg rolls) and pancit (Filipino noodles). For this first trip, my mom and tried the empanadas. Empanada are $1 each. The empanadas are small and filled with chicken. It is a nice little treat. It is definitely best when eaten warm. I noticed that they are offering free coffee for customers. They also had some samples of Filipino dessert that were sliced pretty big I'd like to try the pan de sal next time. Pan de sal is $2 and one guy exclaimed they're were the best. I am looking forward to trying more goodies from the newest Filipino bakery in town! read more

All i know is how delicious their Filipino fried egg rolls are-always crispy & goes very well with the vinegar they provide. My co-worker buys it from them. So a SHOUT OUT to Joy's Bakery for the egg rolls. I'll be the judge of the rest of their products when I visit their location--if they're as delicious as the egg rolls, I'll be thoroughly impressed. Still craving bibingka since I didn't get any from Luisa & Sons. My Pinay friend asked me to go here with her because she really liked pan de sal from this place. I got chicken empanada and I tasted one of her pan de sal breads. Hot pan de sal: I dont like it..sorry. It's fresh but kinda hard. The only hot pan de sal I like is from Valerio. My Pinay friend says pan de sal is a staple in Filipino family. I prefer Chinese sweet roll or King Hawaiian roll. Chicken empanada ($1.10 if I am not mistaken): good but not great. My Pinay friend likes the empanada but it's just okay for me. I prefer United Bakery's empanada. This bakery also has mini bibingka, mamon, ensaimada and polvoron. $10 minimum purchase for card transactions!!! This place is quite small. I walked in around 3:30pm, and a lot of their bread was already gone. I was the only one in the store, so the owner kept trying to make small talk, which is fine, but it got to a point where it got kinda awksauce. I could feel his eyes following me.. Anyways, I just settled for a bag of ube pan de sals, which was $2.20 for 6. Not bad. Since you need to purchase at least $10 to use your card, I almost freaked out. Luckily I had just a tad over $2.20, so I was able to pay for my bread. YAY! The Ube Pan De Sal is delicious. The bread is sweet and the texture is very similar to King's Hawaiian bread, and the ube--mmMMMmm--sweet and delicious. :) read more

This place has gotten waaaaay better over the last two years. They have really improved their recipes. There are more tastier breads and great Filipino pastries like their cassava cake, bibinka, pitse-pitse, and many more. I really love their vegetable lumpia. It's delicious and full of fresh veggies and it's not greasy like other bakeries make it. The service is great too. I love the nice Filipino lady who often cashiers, she's very friendly and polite. I call her tita which means aunty in Tagalog. Yes, you cannot find that kind of service all the time any more, it's very rare. This bakery is infinitely better than that Tropical Bakery across the street in the Seafood City marketplace. In Joy Bakery, it's much more relaxing to shop in because it's not crowded unlike Tropical. And of course there are never any long lines in Joy and it's super fast to get what you want or need. It's especially good for me because I happen to have very bad agoraphobia! This bakery shop is small but it's simple, relaxing, and sweet and it's like the Filipino bakeries I went to in my childhood. I now give this place an A plus infiniti. read more

I'm now a fan of their Filipino turon! I decided to try this place and boy, I was right on time! They had just finished making a new batch of turon and they let me have one for free! Lovely and friendly staff indeed! The turon was hot and pleasingly brittle with hardened syrup on the wrap surface. Inside was this delicious banana with jackfruit. The combination is made in heaven! This tiny bakery sells more than just pan de sal. I love their chicken empanadas, much tastier than those from that chain bakery across the street. Joy Bakery also makes awesome turon and THE BEST and huge vegetable lumpia. Their leche flan and palitaw is delicious, too. We purchased a few of our Christmas meal here. Particularly Filipino style spaghetti, chicken macaroni salad and milkfish relleno. This place is just a small spot in many filipino food places around and all I can say is they exceeded all our expectations as far as food presentation and taste. They were all freshly made and taste as good n better than authentic home made Filipino food. All other place were selling frozen relleno but they had them freshly made. The prices to are very reasonable and some are even lesser than other places. Great job and kudos to Miss Joy. read more

So on our wild goose chase driving around Carson, we spotted this place in the hopes that they carried some hopia (which was my craving for the day). We had already stopped at two Filipino bakeries (one didn't have any hopia left) and the other was closed (I'll have to reflect on that on my own time) so spotting some Hopia Mongo on the shelves was like a background opera high note moment. There were no other varieties of hopia (my kids groove toward the Ube) but Mongo happens to be my favorite so I won't dwell on that. I gave it a taste & it passed the "yum" test. They have pan de sal (sweet rolls), Enseymada, and Ube rolls on the shelves. It's a to-go bakery with no eating area so there isn't a lot of room for larger varieties of products. They also have chicken empanada which the kids said "was good"--although it isn't served warm--you have to eat is as is (which is about room temp) or heat it up at home. Service was good. read more

Had to find an extremely quick fix for empanadas (potluck) and at 5:30 PM on a Sunday, most stores that sold empanadas were closed-that is, except for this one, and I'm not disappointed in the least. Walking into the small shop, which gives off welcoming vibes, I came to pick up my 10 chicken empanadas, & the service & the atmosphere of this place: I can't tell you enough wonderful things; The people there are so incredibly sweet, and even though I've never ever met them before in my entire life, I felt like family. On top of that, the chicken empanadas were given to us as fresh as they come-they had literally come right out of the kitchen. They were delicious, steaming, and flavorful (this is coming from a girl who's never tried empanadas before, & who isn't even too fond of Mexican foods.) Highly recommend. read more

I happened on this tiny bakery while visiting relatives nearby. Nestled in a filipino strip mall in Carson, this bakery is a local gem. As I walked in, I was hit with the delicious waft of freshly baked goods. Always a sucker for a good empanada, I was so excited to see that they were just fresh from the oven. Taking advantage of fresh out of the oven, I ate a couple right then and there. Pretty mind blowing, flaky, tender and tasty and took me back to when I was a child. I also had a few cheese rolls and a couple bags of pandesal which I took home and had for breakfast the next day. It's so refreshing to have a fresh, homemade alternative to the baked goods at your local grocery store. I wish this place was closer to where I live. From now on, every time I am down in Carson, I will absolutely stop in to get my fix. read more
