I'm digging the new look of this bread shop! Everything is so organized and it always smells…read moreamazing the moment you open the door! It's rare that there's no costumers in here. Expect a line, always. If there's a wait, that just means they're busy and always in demand of fresh breads! I highly suggest coming in the morning versus afternoon because they will run out. If you do need huge quantities, then preorder. There's only one cash register at all times, hence the long wait. Be patient! I love that it's in a huge plaza with Seafood City, Jollibee, Chow King and Red Ribbon! Parking is huge but again, it's always busy here! Plan accordingly. If you've read this far, thanks! (: I've been going to this Valerio's since childhood. This is our go-to for fresh pandesal! My parents and relatives always bought from here. I've tried a handful of their breads--ube, cheese pimiento, pan de coco, cheese filled pastries! You name it! You can't go wrong with any of their goodies. I especially love ordering from their glass shelves! There's Turon, Suman, Eggrolls, hopia, empanadas..the choices are endless! They always offer pancit, pandan, bilo-bilo, nilupak, palitaw, Puto bumbong, puto flan and more! It's hard to pick just one favorite since everything is so delicious! Dare I say, you must try everything?!

I like this place because they have a huge selection of breads. They have all the pan de xxxx you can think of: pan de sal, pan de coco, pan de ube and even all kinds of snacks and treats. I used to get a bunch of stuff when I come here, but lately it feels like I'm gonna spend $100 on carbs and I can't justify that. I really like their pan de sal, ube breads, kakanins , Turon and several other items. Yeah I'll definitely come back. But anyway,

I ordered the strawberry cream croissant, and it was absolutely amazing. It was light, airy, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. The pastry itself was perfectly flaky and buttery every bite was delicious. I can definitely see why this place is such a big hit! I also tried the iced condensed coffee. It was definitely strong, but also incredibly creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. It paired perfectly with the croissant. Another plus is that they have plenty of parking and lots of seating, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a coffee and dessert. If you're looking for a delicious pastry and a good cup of coffee, this is a wonderful little spot to check out.

Inside they have plenty of seating available to enjoy your pastries. As for bake good selections, they offer sweet and savory options. They even have some katsu plates with or without curry. I find some of their pastries are on the pricey end depending on what you select. Their most popular is the strawberry croissant which is sweet with a custard filling and strawberry slices. I tried their special Strawberry Mocha Latte which was really good, however, it was very small and very pricey. The service was great. The girl that helped me was super nice and very accommodating. After getting some bake goods for our dentist, I quickly had to eat the steamed pork buns while it was hot. The pork filling was like a pork siomai inside a fluffy soft dough. That was very good and worth the price. As for the sweet baked goods, I immediately tried them as soon as we got home. The cream puff was delicious and not too sweet, however for the size of it, I don't think it is worth the $4.00 price tag. The strawberry croissant on the other hand was cheaper and also very tasty and I would say it's worth the price tag.

My partner and I stopped by Cafe 86 in Carson hoping we had found our next go-to halo-halo spot…read more Unfortunately, authenticity and customer service were both missing from the recipe. Parking was easy, and when we walked in, there was only one occupied table. Three employees were chatting in the back. We were greeted, but it felt more like, "What would you like?" than "Welcome in." No smile, no conversation, no thank you--just a transaction. After taking our order, the employee returned to chatting with coworkers. When our order was ready, our name was called, the halo-halo was placed on the counter, and that was the end of the interaction. As for the halo-halo itself, my partner rated it a 2/10. It was overwhelmingly sweet and overpriced for what we received. We were hoping for layers of flavor and nostalgia but got a sugar rush that could probably power a small city. As a business owner myself, I understand that customer service is one of the biggest drivers of customer retention. Great products can bring people in once, but great service brings them back. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on both. The good news? These issues are fixable. A little more warmth, engagement, and hospitality would go a long way. Until then, we'll continue our search for our next favorite halo-halo spot.
