Luis and his crew transformed my backyard! They hauled overgrown ivy, branches, dirt, debris, and trimmed two massive elderberry trees. They added several materials throughout my yard- decomposed granite, rock, and grass/ all came together beautifully. See after pics! Update; My front yard has been transformed and I could not be happier with all the work that was put into the job. Ive attached before and after pictures. read more

2nd quote for our backyard demo, and the best one. Other company wanted double. They came with 5 guys, and did a 3 day job in 1. They walked me through the entire process and got my ok before starting! I am so happy with everything they did to make my yard ready for a new pool! Highly highly recommend!! read more

Luis Gardening - Backyard - Tree Services Near Me

I really trusted Luis From Luis Gardening. I am late with this review but wanted to make sure to share my experience. Pay almost 3K for a service that did not worked and they just took my money. They did a French drain system in my backyard because it flooded when raining, this was suggested by Luis. When i told them that what they did it not worked because the holes got filled with water and came back up he mentioned that he could do an additional hole to help. My patio kept on getting flooded. When i tried to reach him, he did not responded my calls anymore and i ended up losing money and no accountability for the bad work they did. It hurt my pocket as a single mom. read more

We've used them several times and have always been satisfied with their work. We had a big clean up project in our large yard and they rocked it! Tree trimming, hedges, bushes, as well as mowing and cleaning out flower beds. They were quick and efficient, very professional. They hauled away everything and were done in a timely manner. Highly recommended! Would definitely use their services again! read more

After having a bad experience with a previous company, I turned to Luis for the completion of a backyard demolition project. The grass in my back yard was sitting higher than my patio and water run off was flooding my patio. Luis came in and lowered my yard up to 6 inches in certain areas. Luis and his crew also were able to rip out a very extensive root system in my backyard. They leveled my yard out and then cleaned up the mess. My yard is for the most part ready to plant sod this spring. Luis was a real cool guy and gave me a very fair quote. Very happy with the end results and would highly recommend his services. read more

Luis and his team is amazing! My boyfriend and I bought a home in Turlock and it was a complete renovation project and both times we used Luis! They graded and leveled out my yard to get ready for concrete work and have just recently hauled away roughly 13 yards of dirt for a great price! Both times they were professional and did not disappoint. Thank you so much and I highly recommend!!! read more

Luis and his crew are always so responsive and come whenever needed. Always so professional and thorough with weed whacking, pruning, etc. Very detail oriented and Luis always makes sure I'm very satisfied with all completed work before he and his crew leave each time. Very highly recommend for all your gardening needs and maintenance!!!!! read more

My peach tree was absolutely a wild mess. Fruit too small to donate and all ripe at the same time. Winds were breaking off large branches loaded with fruit and were dragging on the ground. Luis and his crew cleaned up everything on the ground and did a beautiful pruning job. The tree's shape looks like a beautiful, healthy umbrella now. The job was quick, clean-up well done and at a reasonable cost. I am so happy with the results. Thank you Luis and your Crew. read more

I'd used Luis near the start of his business and the work was excellent. Back when I think he actually did a lot of the work. I used them and family had also. I think maybe they've got too big. Luis Jr is now the estimator. His price seemed fair, but more than I expected at first. Getting him there to do the quote was difficult. The day the work was to be done he dropped off ONE guy and left him all day to do the work himself. I told him I was surprised at that, and he said he was too! It was really hot that day too. Luis Sr came to collect the money. Didn't get much chance to really check it out before he was gone in a hurry. For what I paid, I think he could have used at least one more person, and the job would be a lot more detailed. Like in the olden days. Overall a decent job, but I'm not excited enough to recommend them w/o checking others out as well. read more

Luis and his crew did a great job on our backyard. We hired them for 2 major cleanups and 1 tree removal. In the front lawn they cut down an old tree that was pretty much dead. In a matter of less than 2 hours they were done and had cleaned up all the debris very carefully. I was very satisfied with the removal of the tree. Two weeks later, we had them do 2 major cleanups in the backyard. They hauled 2 truck loads of junk that we had in the storage shed and tore down 3 large chicken coops. The second cleanup consisted of the removal of plants, trees, fruit trees, and shrubs. They cleaned and removed everything very carefully. Very, very pleased !!!! :) read more

Received a referral from a co-worker for Luis Gardening. Unhappy with other Landscapers being flaky, I was happy to have Luis respond very quickly, coming out the same day I called to provide me an idea of what to expect with what I wanted done. Luis came back the next day to confirm all the details and the quote. A few days, later, a team is at my house at work making my front landscaping into something much more pleasing to the eye. Responsive through phone and text, quick turn around on work requested, clean job. Glad I got the referral. read more

I was referred to this company by another local Tree Service. I am installing a pool in my backyard this summer and needed some bobcat work done after having three large trees removed. My backyard was destroyed from chasing tree roots. Luis and his crew came through and did an amazing job! He is a highly skilled and safe operator. His crew was very detail-oriented and ensured that everything was squared away and cleaned properly before they left. I would hire this company again. I would also refer them to my family and friends. Veteran approved! Veteran friendly company! Excellent job!!! read more

We just had Luis Gardening come out and remove two palm trees. They were amazing! They worked us in same day and charged a reasonable price. They were punctual, reliable, professional, thorough, and prompt. I would highly recommend their services! read more

We had a massive dead oak tree on our property that was a hazard to passing traffic. I really thought it would be too big of a job, but I called Luis and he came out and assured me that they could take it down safely and haul it away. Sure enough, he and his crew came out and with incredible skill, took the tree apart in manageable sections. They were remarkable in their ability to "read" the tree and how best to tackle it. Before the day was over, our tree problem was resolved and I was able to relax knowing that I wouldn't be liable for my tree damaging a passing car. Luis and his partners are always a pleasure to work with! I've used them in the past and they've never disappointed me. They are my go-to guys whenever I have landscaping projects! read more

I have used Luis Gardening for years now. Very satisfied with the work every time. Failed to show up or call for two scheduled appointments to install sod in my backyard after I accepted their bid for the work. Company does not return calls or respond to voice mails read more

I am starting to think everyone in the landscape business is a flake. My current gardener simply stopped showing up, leaving a landscape job unfinished for which I'd paid in full (but that's another story). Based on Yelp reviews I called Luis and was pleased when someone came out the same day and gave me a quote. I was a little shocked that his price was double the current gardener so it took me a few weeks to make up my mind to go for it. I called Luis and left a message that I'd accepted his quote and was ready to begin. No response. Emailed. No response. Called again. Finally someone called back, said they were putting me on the schedule and would phone me at 6 pm with a time date. Never got a call back. I called multiple times. No response. Gave up. Back to square one searching for a gardener whose not a flake. Apparently Luis is not that person. read more

I asked Luis to come out and give me an estimate for some landscaping, tree removal and tree trimming. He arrived when he said he would and seemed very knowledgeable. He said he would get back to me with an estimate. He did and has not. Unfortunate. The company lost a lot of money cause we had a complete renovation of our 9000 square foot property. Follow up is important and they failed. I gave him 3 stars for arriving on time and for his knowledge. I would go with a different company like I am. read more

these guys were amazing!! The prices, time, work, cleanup was very good. We had two 65ft palms, 2 50 ft pines and 1 oak tree cut, removed and grinded. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Contacted Luis back in April to trim my Maple Tree. Wow! I was so happy to step outside and see how beautiful it was in front of my house. I would not recommend at all. Said they would remove a cactus, set a time, gave me a price ( which was reasonable) and then never showed up or called. Would not return calls. Very bad business , at least tell me why, I guess you don't care. read more

Luis is an incredibly endearing and honest individual with extremely fair prices and they are VERY hard working! I needed serious weed removal right away. Luis came over immediately and gave me an estimate and said he could have a crew working the next day. They were there promptly and worked thru rain and hail to get all the weeds pulled by hand. It was a very fair price and Im back in the good graces of my HOA. Highly recommend !! read more

I called and sent them pics. They quoted me $600. I got another Gardner to come out and do the same bid, plus the front area for $500.00. Wow, what an excellent job they did. read more

They were a no-show for an appointment. No call back, nothing, which shows arrogance and a complete lack of respect for potential customers. So I called them...twice, to find out what was going on, and only got their voice message. After leaving a message both times, I still didn't receive a return call. Therefore, even one star isn't warranted. read more

Luis Gardening workers were very careless and unsafe work practices while clearing the old Hirshers' Nursery property on Standiford Ave. , Modesto. They didn't have enough common sense to wet down the dirt, grass, etc. before they started clearing the area and debris was floating into everyone's backyards, patios, swimming pools and even the cars were covered with the dust, grass, dirt, etc. We tried to call the company as soon as we saw what was happening and no one answered. I thought it was standard practice to wet down the dirt area before starting all that. Had there been a spark started by their equipment it could have started a fire amongst the dry brush they were clearing out. This is very unsafe and irresponsible. We are all left with a big mess over here behind the wall. read more

I had Luis come out to give me an estimate on a cleanup job followed by general maintenance...I was really excited when he actually showed up to give the estimate because he was the 7th business I had called and the first 6 were no shows. He was very, very nice and he definitely knows his stuff. He walked through the whole yard with me and explained what he would do and then gave me an estimate. We agreed, shook on it and he said he would be back in a week. Unfortunately, he never showed up. I called him to find out if he was coming and he said he was busy but he would be here later that day or the next day for sure...again, no show and won't answer my calls or return them. I don't mind waiting a little longer if he is backed up with other customers but I DON'T like being blown off and ignored. I've even asked him to just tell me if he doesn't want the job or doesn't have time so that I can find someone else to do it and he won't respond. Bummer because I was really hoping it all worked out with him. He seemed like a hard working guy. :( read more

I called Luis' Gardening after getting two quotes from other gardening services companies. I saw their truck at my neighbors house and I decided why not get a quote myself. His quote was 20% cheaper than the other two companies. The other companies, Clarks said they could cut the bush and poison it but the green metal stake would prevent him from grinding the stump. Charles Schwab gave me an estimate and I called to book him but he told me he would look at his calendar and get back to me to set a date but he never did. I was wanting to book Charles Schwab based on the reviews from Yelp but he didn't follow through. The sad thing is that I was willing to pay more based on the company reviews on Yelp but I can say those high rating didn't apply to me. To go back to Luis', I asked him when was the soonest he could come out he told me within a couple days. He texted the night before (he asked if he could do that when he came out for the quote) that he would be at my house at 8 but I was going to taking my kids to school so I left the side gate open so he could get started. I took my kids to school and got home 8:35 and he was done. Beautiful work, fast and cheaper then the other companies. There was no issues with his service. Thanks for being professional!! read more

Wow! Luis absolutely transformed my yard into a beautiful oasis. He provided me with free estimate and made helpful suggestions for both front and back. Called Luis to remove some 4X4's and some 2X4's and other wood debris from a trellis I torn down due to rotting wood. Luis was recommended by my gardener for hauling the debris away. I called about 10am July 3rd and left a message but never received an answer back all that day - next day was July 4th so I figured they would be closed but I never received a call on July 5 either until I called again. I was told they would come by "later that afternoon probably around 4, 4:30 or 5:00" - waited until 5:45 and gave up on Luis who never called to say they were running late - simply no resect for my time. Won't make this mistake again. Not sure I trust my gardener's recommendations anymore. Luis may have caused my gardener to loose me as a customer too. Too bad for Luis because while I had only a small pile of wood I have a friend with an 88 acre ranch who told me he has a LOT of gardening debris from his orchard he needs removed and asked me to text him Luis's name and number...that won't be happening now. read more

Luis agreed to do the work in two days, but ended up rushing to finish everything In one day due to a family commitment. All the workers appeared to work hard but the end result of the job was half hazard. They left broken branches and debris, broke a sprinkler head which wasn't noticed until a few days later when they started drying up. The work no way looked like the pictures in the advertisement! I didn't feel right about having them come back and do it right the second time. I learned an expensive lesson when hiring someone to do work on my property. read more

Initial work was good but incomplete. Follow up was pitiful to non-existent. Never again.

Luis used to do a fantastic job for me for many years. However recently, he has not answered his phone, his voicemail is full and when you are fortunate enough to have him answer he has promised dates and times to do projects and never shows up or calls to explain why. He himself gave my neighbor an estimate for a small project per my referral which she went with. Luis's crew came out to do the project many days and phone calls later just as the sun was going down. I told them as they were working that what they were doing was NOT what Luis said would be done but was assured it would be fine. It was a fungus problem that should have been handled the way Luis said it would. The fungus is back and I can't tell you how many phone calls and missed appointments we've had with him. Something is going on either professionally or personally with him at this point. I will no longer recommend him to anyone read more
