In town on business from San Diego, on a balmy August day (108 degrees!) and my air conditioner failed! Seriously, sweating my a$$ off driving around town worried about my return trip to San Diego across the desert. Terrible service! Took my car in bc it keeps turning off when idle. Explained this to him and per his diagnostics I needed the Aug battery and fuel pump module replaced. 464 dollars later and my car still has the same issue, literally THE SAME DAY. When I went in to have it looked at again he's tells me that my battery in front (my car has 2 batteries) is really old and connectors are corroded and he's pretty sure this is the problem.....THIS SEEMS LIKE A PRETTY BASIC STEP TO MISS WHEN TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY A CAR KEEPS TURNING OFF. When questioned whose was it possible he didn't catch that the first time around he tells me oh I just used the scanner. THIS GUY DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO POP THE DAMN TRUNK!!! I started taking my 2013 Kia Forte to Luis a year and a half ago, I live just up the street and wanted to find someone closer than my previous mechanic. I was highly impressed by the service. My husband has brought his 2017 Ford Edge also and received just as great service. In fact my Kia is in his shop as I type this, to make sure it's road ready for a Denver trip I'm taking in 5 days. Slid thru the shop for a diagnoses on some squeaky noises coming from the driver side front axel on my BMW. Luis tried to save me some $$$ by greasing the Ball Joints (at no cost) but that's didn't cure the issue. During the same visit he cleared a fault code on the dash for me (at no cost). I ended up needing both lower control arms replaced and they did a terrific job at a reasonable cost. Anyone looking for an honest mechanic, pull up and Luis will get it done for you. This Shop is the best my grandpa took me to them and you know grandpa's they know better lol. I needed my AC recharged Friday morning before heading out for a weekend trip. I tried the shops I'm familiar with on Thomas Road but no one could fit me in. When I showed up at opening time, Luis jumped on it right away. I have an older truck (1990) so he checked out the whole system and warned me that the compressor might have gone out, but after 30 minutes he said everything was fine. He just charged me for the refrigerant and labor and I was on my way. Luis came highly recommended by a local shop and I can see why. He was respectful, honest, prompt and reasonable in his fees. I plan on bringing my other vehicle to him as well. He earned himself a loyal customer. read more

I've been coming to Luis Auto Repair for a few years now, they were recommended by a friend who frequents them. They've worked on several of my cars ranging from regular maintance to sometimes more technical work. For the most part what has kept me giving them my business is their honesty, which unfortunately is very hard to find in most auto repair shops. Here with this guys, they have always found the solution to my car problems and fixed them same day. They've never tried to up-sell me with unnecessary services like other places do (yes Meineke and Jiffy Lube I'm talking to both of you!) just to get the most out of my wallet. Pricing on their services are good, the only way to pay less is to do the work yourself or if the mechanic is your friend, that's my opinion. read more

I'm sure these guys are nice, but heres the deal. my car broke down Tuesday night on the US 60 on my way home from work. I was terrified. I'm only 22 and just moved out here from Texas on my own and have no family here. I originally called Guys Body Shop which is next door to them and told them my transmission failed and I needed to tow it to their place. they said that was fine. I requested that they call me once my car got there. about an hour later, when I knew my car had been towed and shouldve been at the shop, I hadn't heard anything. I called and there was no answer. I decided to wait till the morning. I tried calling Guys Body Shop again 10 times the next morning and no answer. FINALLY at like 930 in the morning they answered, only to tell me they dont do any mechanic work, they just do body work (I shouldve known better lol, that was my own fault) but luckily, Luis Auto is right next door so the man on the phone said he was more than happy to bring it over to Luis' shop. I thought, great, what a lucky break!! so i called Luis' shop to let them know what went on and they said they would take a look at it that day. when they asked what was wrong with it, I said the transmission and they said "oh, that's it? okay, I'll get to it today." I asked them to please call me before they did anything and the guy on the phone said okay, but then went to hang up, without taking my number or my name down!! I had to interrupt him to give him my information. once that was done, I didnt hear from him for the rest of the day. I called near the end of the day, around 5, just to check on things and a nicer man answered (I believe it was Luis himself). I asked him what was wrong with my car, he told me it was definitely the transmission. I asked him what specific part failed so I could get an estimate later on, and he told me that the guy who was working on it during the day went home for the night, so he didnt know exactly what was wrong. what? weird, but he told me to call first thing in the morning so he could give me an estimate of the repairs and to tell me what parts failed. I decided to wait until an hour after they opened to give them time, figuring they would be getting into the office and would need time getting situated. I called around 9am and was met with ATTITUDE from one of the employees. I asked if there were any updates and he said to me (word for word) "I know you've been calling but yeah I havent gotten around to it. we just got here, you need to give me more time." ...okay. so I apologized and explained again that it's my first car and I just am worried. all he said was "yeah" and hung up. it made me feel dumb for even calling. I know things get busy, but all I ask is for updates and if I call asking how it's going, I shouldn't be met with attitude and I shouldn't feel like an idiot for being concerned about my car. the day went on and I STILL HADNT HEARD FROM THEM. all I was waiting for was an estimate of what was wrong! they had already run a diagnostic on my car, so they shouldve known and told me what part failed at least, right? I had my wife call them because she is a little more assertive than I, and they told her that the entire transmission was shot and that i would need to pay at least $1500 for a USED transmission (their words). when she asked what parts failed, they didnt give her specifics and just said that the entire thing was shot. I didnt trust it, so I took my car somewhere else and turned out it WASNT my entire transmission, it was the computer system and that is covered at the dealership with my warranty! in my opinion, their service was shady and they just wanted money. they didnt care about my concerns and every single time I called I was met with attitude. dont waste your time. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! owner made me believe my car would be an easy fix and would look over the problem in 30 mins in the morning so I left the car there.. called during my lunch, he said he hadn't had a chance yet to look over it ... I went with a friend to see why her AC cycled at idle. They hoped that it was just a relay, which they needed to order, but they said they needed to replace the fan. I was not able to go back with her, but she was happy with her service, and as far as I can tell, they charged her fairly. They are not very close to my house, but I trust they will continue to take care of her. read more

this place was amazing i went in when my car wouldn't start thinking it might be the starter right away they could tell it wasn't and told me they would call me a few hours later they knew the issue and had asked if i was willing to wait till the next morning if they charger me less i said sure and they had it finished first thing the next morning no issues since and that was about 6 months ago these guys are fast and nice the do not try to overcharge you and its local which makes it better. read more
