I have had an excellent experience TWICE with this amazing repair shop on Chicago's North Side (3445 N. Western Avenue) The first time was last Fall 2023 to repair my wife's Lexus 350 which had a number of serious dents and scratches on the left side front and back quarter panels. Greg gave me a quote on both price and time -- and I was totally satisfied on both. The second time was this week when my Acura TSX needed a new bumper to replace left and right front damage. I took my car to Greg who knew exactly what was needed, gave me a very fair quote and I said let's do it. Well I picked up the car today and it looks LIKE NEW! I am really happy and want to thank Greg again. His quote was on target and he did the work while I was on vacation. Luis Auto Repair was recommended to me by two professional: (1) my building parking lot Manager and (2) my auto service garage which does engine, brake and other work. TLDR: Luis and Greg are crooks and a car thieves-- do not trust these goons. Went in based on a referral from my valet. After completion I noticed a scratch on my driver side mirror. I went to my dash cam footage to see if they banged it at one point, but what I found was that they took my car joyriding all throughout town. They went to the bank, hardware store, post office, pet supply store, car part store (multiple times) and even went to pick up a friend from work. On top of that, they left my car parked in their satellite running for over 30 minutes. Their reply?? We were test driving it. I admit-- I was in an accident and my 4-wheel drive was messed up. They said they would take it to the collision place next door to have it checked out. Understandable for a little driving, but multiple trips to multiple places-- how stupid do you think I am. These guys are trying to cover their asses because they know they stole my car. The police, BBB and Attorney General will be hearing from me about these thieves. I hired them for body work and they took advantage of the customer-owner relationship. They didn't even want to try to fix the situation by replacing my mirror. They only offered to fill up my tank with gas. read more

Just bought a Honda Accord that had a major scratch from the previous owner. We wanted it fixed, but it's a 2012 and going to be parked on the street, so didn't want to spend a ton. Went to multiple places for quotes and Luis quoted us the best deal (hundreds less!). If I could give these amazing gentlemen more stars, I would. I recently got into an accident which surprisingly didn't completely total my car, but did a heck of a number on it. Not only did they do everything within the budget of the deductible and the insurance check, they went above and beyond and replaced my other headlight cover (which was fine) just so it'd match the new one they'd installed on the damaged side. No joke my car looks and rides better now than it did before the accident, and they did some touch up work on the old panels, without being asked and without charging me. They take absolute pride in their work. It's been a couple weeks since I had the work done. I've ridden it in both stop-and-go city traffic and on the interstate during holiday traffic and I've had absolutely no issues or worries. 100% recommend. read more

Wow. Just got our car back. Went to another local shop in Lakeview and got an estimate for $1800. They told us a week and 14 hours of labor. Greg at Luis' gave us a $670 estimate to repair 2 damaged panels, and we opted to keep the cost down by not asking for the third nicked panel to be worked on. Show up today and the bill is $650 (below the estimate!) and they just threw in some blending on the 3rd nicked panel for free to make it look nicer. Meanwhile they detailed the car too! This company knows good customer service. My car needed quite a bit of body work which required me to rent a car while it was being repaired. They drove me to Enterprise rental which was maybe a lime away, but they didn't have to. Greg, the Manager, and his father were so responsive and when another problem was found after they had finished the repair, they went out of there way to address it. I did not deal directly with the auto body shop owner or workers, but I was not impressed with the final outcome of my car when I got it back. I feel like a few corners were cut in order to save money to get the job done cheap. I also was very alarmed to find my car sitting on Addison (directly across from Wrigley field) when a Cubs game was letting out with THE WINDOWS ALL THE WAY DOWN while thousands of drunk people were wandering the streets. I was jogging by when I noticed this, so I stopped to inspect my car. I even poked my head into the car to make sure nothing was missing or damaged inside of my car. To my surprise, no one came out to tell me to get away from the car when I did this. They obviously weren't watching the car and couldn't see it from their open garage door. This was definitely not a good feeling. As soon as I was home, I called to tell them to please either put the windows up or move it into the garage. They told me it was in the garage. I don't know if they were just lying to me, but I still did not feel comfortable with them watching my car while it was being repaired. I would look around to other shops before going here if you are concerned about security of your car while it is getting fixed. read more

Okay, I'm catching up on my reviews and am obviously in a thanks for my car doctors mode. Nice guys and such great prices and work! Luis Auto Repair is not only super convenient (right across from Wrigley Field and just 1.5 blocks to red line Addison), but they consistently charge less than others I've received quotes from. I first found out about them when I was doing some fundraising for a homeless shelter in the Lakeview neighborhood -getting sponsors for a fund raising concert. It was right after Katrina and there were lots of causes needing money, but they were generous. Only afterwards did I discover that they had (well-earned) rave reviews for their work, as well as their personalities. The owner is so calm, which is calming after someone's crashed into the back of your car and you're wondering if their insurance will cover it, how your bank account will be affected, etc. They were great - the inspector went there, approved a list of repairs and estimated the cost. Luis Auto not only did the repairs for the insurance estimate, but also threw in fixing/replacing the key lock (which frequently got jammed for some reason) and some other thing, and worked with the insurance company. I only had to drop off the car and pick it up all good-as-new. Since then, I've also done minor repairs (side-view mirror knocked off) and the prices were always super-reasonable and repairs quick. They even ordered the parts and called me 2 days later when they came in, so I got to use my car in the meantime - like I said, nice guys, considerate, good service, and quick. read more

I have used Luis's shop only once for bumper fix and paint job, but my experience was certainly a four star. The shop was very accommodating, and even allowed me to come by for an estimate during a Cubs game. They were quick to complete the work and the repair work was near to perfect. The final cost was $90 under the original estimate! Reason for a four star: 1. They do not take credit card or their machine was broken - not fully sure. Cash or Check only, I was told. Again, not a big deal but could be if the work cost large amounts of money. 2. The shop hours painted on the door say 7am - 6pm Monday - Friday. However, when I went to pickup the car, quarter to 6pm, they were closed. 3. Even though they told me when the car would be completed, a courtesy call would have been nice. Rather, I had to call and follow up. Overall, I will be using them again and I recommend these guys for all auto repairs. read more

My girlfriend and I spun out on black ice in Wyoming on our way to Chicago from San Francisco. Although we did significant damage to our car we were nevertheless able to limp to Chicago. This place is great! I was in a small fender bender and Luis' patched it up quickly! They gave me a quote that was very reasonable and had the car back to me in a couple days, even though they needed to order some parts from the manufacturer. The final bill should have come out to more than anticipated due to labor costs, but they only charged me what they initially quoted. My one gripe is that their actual hours were a little funky. it's best to call ahead if you're going right when they open or close, otherwise the right person might not be there or they may not be open. However, it's nothing that isn't worth dealing with to have them work on your car! read more

Luis Auto Repair does superlative work; we had rust developing on our hood and even though their bid came in the lowest(always a major determinant,) the time and the service was beyond what other repair shops that we have experienced here. The garage is organized and this is reflected in their service. Big fan of Luis' Auto Repair. Awhile back (~6 years ago) they took care of my vehicle that was old and was totaled after being hit on the back end while parked and pushed into the car parked in front (damage to both front and back). The insurance companies were only going to give us a certain amount of money since it was an older vehicle and Luis Auto Repair stayed right in that budget and did great work. Within the last month, I came to them again as I had bumped into the back end of a stranger's car and had the people that I bumped bring their car here. They were able to complete the work in timely fashion and the total ended up being over $100 less than what was estimated. My 2015 Honda Fit hood was scratched and rear left quarter panel had a small dent. Luis repaired it like my car left the Honda Factory in Japan. They even washed and waxed my car. Forget Maaco, Earl Shieb, Gerber, and any other chain auto body shop. Go to Luis for all your auto body work. If or when my Honda Fit gets scuffed up again (hopefully not anytime soon if ever) I'm definitely coming back. 5 Stars isn't high enough for this business. It should be 1 million Stars! read more

I had someone hit my car with no insurance and was stuck paying for the damage. I took it to several places and this was the best! They worked so well with me, gave me the best deal. Not only that the work was phenomenal and I even brought them a used bumper that they polished and shined and it looks new! My car was done within a day and they washed the inside and out. Yeah, the reviews are true. These guys are incredible, and ridiculously cheap for body work. I'm just kicking myself for not having discovered them until now. They are right down the street from me, literally across the street from Wrigley Field. The only issue was that my car wasn't ready earlier in the day when I needed it, so I had to rent a car to get to work, but the cost of the car rental was more than offset by the reduction in price of the body work.
