He put a sheet metal over the rust spot. For those of you who don't know, rust is like a virus. If you don't omit alll of it off, then it will spread, a year a two layer onto the sheet metal he put over it. I paid 2600$ that's not right. As I've said before, as I've seen the comments, wouldn't the body/paintwork look fantastic there after he finishes ? Long term tho but more importantly the short cut he takes to finish them. Quality is terrrrrible. Take a gander at my pictures. Few years later I decided to do my own paint job and only to discover Luu ripped me off with his half ass job. My car was stolen out of my parking space, found the following day and towed to Luu's auto body shop. The owner is Chinese/Asian and is very racist against people of color or young people. He is negligent and not reputable in terms of caring about the driver and meeting their needs. He just wants money. My insurance company is Certainly (Liberty Mutual) and is a little bit slower in follow ups. He knows that. The day my car arrived at his place he was rude and loud. I didn't mind because I figured he is old. He said he was going to talk to the manufacturer and get an estimate. He did not. He let my car sit there and took care of the other issues. Then the next day he calls me angry like "I have to move my car and its totaled or something." He wasn't kind about the news, he didn't offer any assistance for resolution and he didn't make me feel welcome to trust his judgement or his shop. I'm a young African American single female who works hard, has a Masters and has never been through this ever in life. He treated me like I was off 63rd and Ashland somewhere from the hood and had no common senses. I would never want anyone to be spoken to the way I was. Please do yourself a favor and decline his services. He doesn't deserve the money with his sort of temperament. No tact or diplomacy. I'm shaken from what happened to me, I have footage, I have a police report. I just want my car back. Luu the owner is rude, selfish, and greedy. I hated that I dropped my car off there. He hung up on me when I asked to speak to someone else when I decided prior to starting the conversation that I was upset because of my car. read more

EXCELLENT work done by Mr. Luu, I am honestly shocked!! My Toyota needed a new bumper and the exterior fixed. I was so bumped out because these damages were pretty bad and money is tight at the moment....then my father-in-law introduced me to Mr. Luu. Compared to a quote from another body shop, Mr. Luu's quote was HALF of that. It seemed too good to be true and I was skeptical, but because my father-in-law has been going to Mr. Luu for over 20 years, I trusted him. And boy, did Mr. Luu amaze me. My car looks BRAND NEW. Everything was done in 2 days. The process was easy and fast. Best of all, the price is so affordable and so FAIR. The only "bad" thing I could think of is that his shop is a bit hard to find. It sits in the alley way, close to the L train track. But that's nothing to think about considering the work and price that Mr. Luu provides. A friend had recommended going to Luu Auto Body due to its low prices. I would NEVER recommend going here to anyone. The low upfront costs are not worth the later costs of trying to fix the damages. I came in to fix my bumper and they had ended up destroying the lock mechanism on my Honda Accord. Because of what they did, I am unable to lock my car remotely and have to manually lock and unlock my car. Having learned from my mistake in trusting cheap auto body shops, I went to the Honda dealership and was told it was irreparable. Do not trust them! read more

I definitely recommend Luu's auto body shop. I had a dent in my car and had gotten a quote from Gerber and another body shop. I found Luu's while driving by and decided to stop in for a quote from them, as well. The price they quoted compared to the other two was like night and day. Luu's price was very fair which showed just how inflated the other two were. And the in-and-out time was awesome. The car was repaired within 24 hours. The only problem was that I found several small scratches on the car after the work was done. They weren't deep, but noticable. I brought this to the owners attention and he personally took time to buff them out. It was a minor problem. But a detail they should be careful of. If it were not for this, I would have given 5 stars. But 4 stars is still pretty awesome. Other then that, the service and end result were excellent. I will definitely use Luu's in the future. And I reccomend them to anyone looking for a job well done at a very fair price. read more

These one star reviews are really hard to believe. Ive taken my car to Luu's twice now. I lease my cars and after three years, they always have accumulated lots of bumps and scratches that I can never return the car with. so for both of my last cars, I brought them to Luu's. And both times, the cars were ready in 24 hours, AND the price was INSANELY cheaper than anywhere else came close to quoting. Last week, I took my car ( which had been in a small fender bender) to a place that has 400 five star reviews on yelp to get an estimate. They quoted me $1500 and said the car would be ready in 5 days. Something in me didn't feel right about it, then I remembered Luu's. I brought my car in on a Thursday afternoon to Carlos, who said it would be 750 to repair. YES!!!!!!! I couldn't believe when they called me the next day to tell me the car was ready - not only that, they even cleaned up the bumper with a fresh paint job, covering all of the knicks and scratches as a freebie. This place is awesome. No frills, just hard working guys who are really efficient and want to please their customers. read more

I've gotten two things fixed at Luu's, they are amazing, they offer some of the cheapest prices around and do the best work. I took my infiniti there and they were able to smooth out the damage and blend the paint (which is a three stage paint job) perfectly to the point where I couldn't tell what was fixed. Luu is PERFECTION!!!!! I got a brand new Honda Accord and 5 months later I got hit on the front bumper, my bumper had a huge dent and the metal was exposed. I took it to Luu for a quote and right away he said "I can repair it and it'll look like nothing happened" and THAT'S WHAT HE DID!!!! He took only 1 day to repair it and was the lowest quote I got! (No one else quoted me to repair it, everyone said I had to replace it and get a replica bumper not oem) he was amazing, such a smooth process and friendly person. Let's talk about efficiency! After going to a number of auto body shops all over the north side of the city and getting quotes of $400+ to fix a key scratch on the car, Luu's Autobody was able to do it for $180! A majority of the savings came in labor. Many of the other places would need to physically remove the entire panel to paint over a ~1ft scratch. Luu's Autobody covered up the surrounding panels and went to work so it took a lot less time. A body shop in North Center said they needed 4 days (!!) to do it, here I got my car back 24 hours later. I can only speak to minor fixes (key scratches, small dents) but this is way cheaper, faster than some of the other options and the work came out like new. read more

Luu's auto body is the absolute best. I've used Luu & his crew twice now, once when I hit a cement barrier with my jeep Cherokee which resulted in the door not latching correctly + a sizable dent and crack on the front bumper. He quoted me $500 cheaper than any competitor and said he would get it done twice as quick. My car looked great. The next time, a U-haul pulled the bumper off of my Ford Focus. Once again he fixed it quickly and even retouched some paint on other areas of my car free of charge. I would absolutely recommend him for any body work! read more

Strongly advice to avoid this shop if you don't want your car to get damaged. I brought in my new car to replace the liner and luu ended up damaging the rear bumper. He was very unprofessional and refused to take any responsibility for the damage he caused. I can confirm what others said about him damaging your car when you take it to his shop and his refusal to take any responsibility. I normally don't give bad reviews but this time I have to warn people to stay away from this place because there's a high chance luu will damage your car as well. read more

Though it is too much of an inconvenience for me to travel all the way to Uptown, I went to Luu's several years ago and the results were amazing. The estimate was the lowest I've ever received and the turnaround was in a very timely manner. My car was damaged in a way I didn't was possible to be repaired, but Luu made of happen at a very reasonable price. I'd go there for everything with my car if I could! Luu and his team replaced a door on my 2004 Nissan Frontier for well under $500 the other quotes I received. He also quoted me a few days faster than Gerber. The work is immaculate, the paint job is perfectly matching. He made sure to thoroughly investigate the work with me when I went to pick it up. I recently took my car in to be looked at here because it was in pretty horrible shape. They took me in right away and fixed a TON of problems on my car. The pricing was absolutely manageable, and they got it back to me by the next morning. It runs so much better now! I even made a trip to Milwaukee and back (150 miles) and she ran like a charm. I hope to never need body work again, but if I do, I would not hesitate to go back to Luu's. I got two estimates for my repair, one from a higher-end body shop that wanted to replace every damaged piece of my car with an expensive new piece, and one from Luu, who was willing to pull/straighten/smooth some damaged pieces and to look for cheaper used replacements for others (such as the tail-light assembly). Luu's preliminary estimate ($1500) came in at less than one-fourth the cost of the other, but he left it a little flexible because he intended to look for some used parts and he didn't know whether he could find them or how much they'd be. After he'd had my car for a few days, he called me to let me know the repair might run $80 to $100 more than his preliminary estimate. In the end, though, he only charged me the $1500 quoted in his initial estimate, and the car looks and drives great. I've docked Luu one star because the repair took several days longer than he initially led me to believe. In Luu's defense, we did have that brutally cold "polar vortex" weather that shut down much of the city for two days while Luu had my car, and that's probably at least partly responsible for the extra time needed to get my car fixed. read more
