This lounge has weird lighting and uncomfortable seating, but it has a robot that takes your dirty plates and cups and that alone makes it kinda cool. There seemed to be a decent amount of hearty options for dinner. I wasn't really super hungry, but I appreciate the variety of offerings. There was also a staff member walking around handing out mini cupcakes, which was a sweet touch. The bathrooms are far from luxurious and somewhat institutional at best, but I guess they do the job. The priority pass area of the lounge is downstairs, which seemed inferior to the upper level for their passengers with status, but I didn't really see inside. I think that's reasonable that they get a bit of an upgraded experience though. read more

Compared to the Turkish Airlines Lounge, the Lufthansa Lounge feels like a downgrade. For one, if you're a Priority Pass holder, you can't enter until after 5:30 p.m. When you do, the staff behind the staff who I found uninviting and cold, direct you downstairs to the dungeon. Well...not a dungeon, but compared to the upper lounge, it feels like it. It's dark, dirty, and small. The pluses to the lounge are the bottled water that you can take with you, the wine bar with several types of wine, including riesling, the warm pretzels (there's no dipping sauce), and the robots that take dirty dishes to the kitchen. There's wifi, but no one around me could get it to work. If you can, try getting into the Turkish Airlines Lounge first before coming here. read more

One thing I love about the Lufthansa business lounge is that you can board directly from the lounge. That is a great thing! I didn't try any of the hot food. Although I had a bit of the big pretzel. It wasn't really hot. But the seafood wrap was delicious. The eggplant slider was meh. The strawberry shortcake was good (ate more than one!). Lots of sparkling water and bottled water . The Lufthansa Lounge is located right next to gate B51. My entry today was through use of the priority pass. This medium sized Lounge is very nice with floor to ceiling windows and very clean bathrooms. Unfortunately, do to covid-19, there are very limited food and drink options. Food is decent with a nice Caesar salad and roast beef sandwich and other choices. However, although there is Coke, tonic water, and Ginger Ale, there are no Diet choices except bottles of water. Most surprisingly karma there is no alcohol choices, not even canned beer. Looking forward to better times. read more

I had about three hours to kill before my 10pm flight to Munich so I used my Priority Pass to chill out at the Lufthansa Lounge. The Turkish Lounge had a private party so it was closed. The Lufthansa Lounge has a bar, plenty of tables and chairs, wall plugs, wifi, and bathrooms. Wifi worked fine for me. The food bar had salads, pasta, sandwich rolls, meatballs, cheese, hummus, pretzels, etc. And also gummie bears! They have a coffee machine and plenty of bottles of water. The food was okay. They have a robot who moves around collecting dirty dishes. Pretty cool! read more

Our flight to Munich Germany was at 10 pm so we decided to pay a little more to relax in the Luthansa lounge to relax and eat some healthy food while we waited for our plane. Now, the seats were large and comfy. They had plugs for your phone and a lot of seating. You have to get tickets for the lounge at the ticket counter where you check in your bags. It was on $39 a dollar each so it was worth it. Drink wise they had water, soda, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and different types of wine and champagne (I think that's what my sister had. I didn't drink our whole vacation ). Food wise they had sandwiches, salads, pretzels, soup, polenta, broccoli, polenta, and mixed veggies. Every 15 minutes or so someone would come and remove the plates or anything you were finished with. The best part was when they called for our plane we could get on with first class because the lounge was right there. We got nice and comfortable for our flight. Will do again. read more

The place is drab. The entire experience is pathetic. I'd give it zero stars if that was an option. read more

Located at gate B50, upstairs, you have a smaller lounge & I've visited a few times now and they continue to improve the food options. They do have vegan options and I've always enjoyed the food. Usually here in the afternoon so they have some salad, small sandwiches and some hot dish options. As with all lounges, nicer when it isn't crowded and on a Wednesday afternoon at 3 it was near empty. Have about 50 lounge chairs, open floor plan with plenty of large windows & a couple of TVs. Could use more space in bathrooms. They have a small section in the corner for First class. I don't think I've ever seen anyone sitting there. Good selection of beer, wine and spirits. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Extra star for the staff and food improvements. If crowded, the Turkish air lounge (Star Alliance) is just steps away. read more

I vacillated between a 2 and 3 star review on this lounge. Located near Gate B51, it has a split with the Senator first class lounge upstairs and the Business Lounge downstairs. This review is for the Business Lounge. First off, this place is kind of dark. Like it is not particularly well lit and doesn't have loads of windows, so that's kind of ehh. There are some outdated chairs, all the same style, and clustered outlets at the wall, which means if you aren't sitting in the chair against the wall, you have no power. The food offerings at 12:45 PM on this Saturday are scant at best. No hot food, and empty (as in totally empty, not as in "they're out of soup) soup containers. They have turkey sandwiches (quite good, actually, especially with the spicy mustard), tuna sandwiches, a tiny salad bar, premixed Caesar salad, bread, and some bananas. So, it's best for a snack at best, and even then, don't expect anything hot. There is a nice citrus agua fresca, which is one of few beverage The bar has a nonsensical setup where self-service is not allowed but there is no one servicing the bar. They actually have a sign up saying that you can't serve yourself--which is weird to begin with--but then there are no staff anywhere to be found. Legitimately every person who has walked in has looked at the sign questioningly. A few of us were just laughing about how odd it was. And then a woman appeared from the back and served one guy, with whom we had been laughing, a drink. I started walking over and I kid you not, it was like she power walked back to the kitchen, never to be seen again. *Update: 20 minutes later, another lady appeared and another passenger and I were able to visit the bar. I'm normally a Oneworld passenger, but geez, this place is lackluster. It's like all the luster ran away and left a somewhat dark lounge with sparkling water. read more

This lounge is not very impressive at all in fact it's kind of...meh. They have snacks and cold drinks and some alcohol. They do however have nice view of the tarmac. The place is clean and they have a lot of outlets for your laptops. There's plenty of seating and the lounge has open concept seating. You can see I'm really struggling to write something about this lounge but there is nothing else to say so I'm just writing the rest of this just to take up space. read more

A handful of hot food options (potato pancakes, Mac and cheese, pig in a blanket, curry chicken, sweet and sour tofu), finger sandwiches (Viet wrap, tuna salad, smoked meat), pastries, veggies, dips, and fruits. Nothing outstanding but worth munching a bite here and there. Plenty of comfy seats with outlets in between. There's a section for sit down complimentary a la carte dining for first class passengers. Definitely build in extra airport time if you want to sample the menu. read more

We were going to Copenhagen on Lufthansa and flying Business Class so we were able to use the club. The last time we used it we were able to stay upstairs but this time we were told to go downstairs. It was very crowded when we went downstairs with no seats together. Fortunately, a couple stood up to leave and we had our seats. They had a bar and "snacks" available. Senators lounge is quite nice. Breakfast was a little limited but the hospitality is friendly. Virginia law requires that they have a bar tender, which is quite a shame that you cant pour your own. This is for the Senator lounge, which is for first class passengers and Star Alliance Gold members. I tried this lounge on my way back to LA. It has 1 shower room which is located in the Business lounge (from Senator lounge, walk down stair). The shower room is very basic compared to many asian lounge I've been too. It has shampoo, conditioner, body soap and that's it. No skin/hair care products. Toilet seat, although clean, is the one you'd find in some public restroom. Food selection is quite limited to my taste, but their alcohol selection is great. I love the Bombay Sapphire on rocks (I just learned that from the bartender, "rocks" means "ice" lol). Since this lounge is for First class passengers and Star Alliance Gold members, it was not busy at all. You'd fins plenty of seats here and the lounge is very quiet. Decorations could use some remodel. 4 star for the drink and the atmotsphere. If they improve their food selection and shower experience it would be a 5 star for me. Edit: if you want good food, go to the Turkish Airlines a couple of gates down, if you like to have some quiet time and privacy with some good wine, this lounge could be a good option. read more

The Lufthansa Senator and Business Class Lounges at Washington Dulles IAD are located in the B concourse by gate 51. It's a combo lounge entrance with the Senator Lounge located on the departure level and the Business Class Lounge located downstairs on the ground level. The Senator Lounge is open to first class passengers on Star Alliance operated flights and the Business Class Lounge is open to business class passengers on Star Alliance operated flights. Star Alliance Gold members (including United Premier Gold members) may use either lounge when traveling on any Star Alliance operated flight (domestically or internationally). Both lounges are open from 8:20 AM to 9:45 PM daily. The Senator lounge is divided into three distinct areas. There is a dining area at the entrance to the lounge with several tables, chairs and a high top, communal table in the center. The communal table has electrical outlets and can double as a work space if you want to eat and get some work done. The entire dining area is not very large and can only accommodate approximately 20 people at any given time. The self-serve buffet was fairly substantial and had a good selection of cold and hot dishes such as a variety of sandwiches, salads, pastas, roasted vegetables and braised beef. The food was delicious and plentiful enough to serve as a full meal. For those wanting something on the lighter side, there were bowls fresh fruit, pastries, desserts and other light snacks as well. There is a hosted bar with a top shelf selection of spirits, German beers and wines. Unfortunately, you can't pour your own but all drinks are complimentary so come back as often as you like. There is a small divided area for first class passengers that is separated from the main lounge. It's not very private or secluded from the main lounge but there are tables and chairs along the large windows and a smaller, private dining area. First class passengers also get the benefit of waiter service with a better selection of food and alcohol from printed menus. The main seating area is located beyond the dining room. There is a large open seating area with low armchairs grouped together in small clusters. There are no walls, partitions or anything else to provide any real privacy from your neighbors or reduce the noise of the main seating area. The low leather armchairs are plush and comfortable but there are no recliners, lounge chairs or anywhere else to lie down and kick your feet up. Surprisingly, there are no dedicated work space areas such as cubicles, desks or tables to spread out and be productive. There is one long bar table along the wall with counter space large enough for a laptop and the communal table in the dining area but that's about it. The small lounge made the best use of the limited space it had but unfortunately, those needing to work got the shorter end of the stick. At the time of my visit, 3:00 PM on a Thursday afternoon, the lounge was very crowded and loud so bring some headphones if you need to concentrate and work. Along the far wall of the lounge are large, floor to ceiling windows which let in a lot of natural lighting and provide views of the ramp and runway. They definitely help to make the lounge feel more open and airy than it really is. There are no shower rooms or private day rooms in the Senator Lounge. If you want to shower or get cleaned up before your flight, you will have to go downstairs to the Business Class Lounge. If you need to use the shower room, I would recommend you get down there ASAP and reserve a room as there are only a handful of shower rooms. You might have a long wait as the shower rooms are shared between both the Senator and Business Class Lounges. The lounge attendants were friendly and did an efficient job of cleaning, busing dishes and refilling the buffet area. Nothing sat out on the tables for longer than a few minutes before it was picked up and the food items were replaced and refilled constantly. WiFi was provided throughout the lounge and electrical outlets were located by most seats. I did not connect to the WiFi to test it out but heard it can be slow during peak times. Overall, the Lufthansa Lounges at Washington Dulles IAD are the best options for Star Alliance passengers at Washington Dulles. Considering your only other option is the United Club, the Lufthansa Lounges are significantly better than what United offers. The Lufthansa Lounges are not very large and can be crowded at peak times but the amenities provided make the lounges worth the hike from the United gates. The food selection was tasty and plentiful and the shower rooms were great if you want to freshen up before your flight. The Lufthansa Lounges at Washington Dulles are not the best lounges in the world by any means but they do offer a nice little place to rest, eat and relax before your flight. I understand that as far as Lufthansa lounges are concerned, this is definitely not the best I've seen. The expansive lounges found in Frankfurt or Munich are much better and offer a wider selection of services and food. However, we are speaking in relative terms here. Since I only access Star Alliance lounges, this is much better than any of the other ones found throughout IAD. Sure there's no Wi-Fi, but you get a wonderful view of the taxiway in front of the lounge. I was fortunate enough to visit right as the flight from FRA was coming in with the sun setting in the background, making for a perfect view. The food selection was also surprisingly good. If you look at my uploaded photo, you can see the variety they offer. Various quiches, grilled chicken, pasta, sandwiches, veggies, cheeses, salami, rice, etc. In a sense, typical American food, but all prepared very well. This is definitely beyond the things you find at the Red Carpet Club or similar. The quiches are ridiculously good, even if they do look identically like the ones from Costco. It seems as though they've closed the SAS lounge and consolidated everything in the Lufthansa Lounge, which means a small space like this has the possibility of getting crowded. This wasn't the situation when I was there but it could happen. read more

Stay away if you are a priority pass member. They never grant access. Even if you are willing to wait staff just says no not today. Tried multiple times this year on different days at different times. The answer is always no priority pass members today. Either don't be part of that lounge network or give access and stop waisting customers times heading there. Better options around just be transparent. read more

Perfectly average! That about sums it up. In typical German style, this lounge is efficient and functional. It has everything you need in an airport lounge - good wifi, plenty of power outlets, decent drink selection, small bites, clean bathrooms, and a coffee/ espresso machine. Do not expect anything luxurious. No rain showers like IST, no superb food like BOM, and no massages like BKK. However, it has everything that is essential. It is two steps above from the United Airlines lounges and one step below the Virgin Airlines lounge at Dulles airport. I think any lounge is better than the United Airlines lounges anywhere across America. read more

This is, hands down, the best Star Alliance lounge at Dulles (the competition is nothing but dreary Red Carpet Clubs). Past reviews mention a lack of showers and wifi -- but both are actually available. The shower rooms, of which there are 2 or 3, are located downstairs in the business lounge section. Head there to sign in with an attendant, who will page you when a room is available. Towels and shower products are provided. Wifi is also available lounge-wide, and as of this summer, it's free. The lounge really shines for German-speakers (or those, like me, hoping to work a bit on their not-quite-fluent German language skills). A considerable array of newspapers and magazines, nearly all in German, is provided, and some of the staff speak German. In particular, try striking up a German language conversation with the bartender downstairs. Also, as Dmitriy's pictures indicate, the lounge has outstanding food offerings, particularly on the Senator level -- and respectable wines, beers and spirits, too. A visit will not quite be a meal substitute, but it can come very close. read more

Great service...friendly staff Free wine, hard liquor, beer, and food . How can you go wrong? The food is catered to German tastes, so you might not exactly love it, but the wines are generally pretty decent quality...beats the pants of what you can pay for in the United Club. In order to be admitted you should be 1) Star Alliance Gold on a Star Alliance Ticket 2) On an international (excluding Canada & Mexico) business or first class ticket. 3) Lufthansa frequent traveler or above. read more

Dull and outdated, outworn interior. Cheap feel to all the furnitures. OK, I've introduced you to the downsides first. Don't let that scare you though. The upsides are about to unfold. You are not allowed to self-serve any alcoholic beverages. They have nice and polite man ready to serve alcoholic concoctions of your choosing. Ohh... and plain beer. The food wasn't all that great. They did have some tasty bite size sandwich thing going on. I did fancy those - I must admit. I ate a few of those sandwich thingys, and gulped down a glass of Johnny Walker whilst reading the Washington Post. While doing that, I felt like I was sitting in an Ikea Restaurant. The staff were attentive and did remove empty plates and glass really quick. One waitress even took it upon herself to entertain two bored Chinese kids travelling with what I assume was their father. All in all this beats waiting at the gate by fourhundredandsixtynine points. You might feel like you sat down in a cheap industrial cafeteria, but the service will do justice to your visit. read more
