Went to lunch with a friend on a Sunday. Place was quiet, cheap lunch, good enough. Apparently they have pan-fried chicken every second Saturday from 3-8PM. I wonder if it's good? Seems to be something they sell pretty hard.

A very reasonably priced and tasty breakfast. A great little spot you can tell the locals love it.

Yummy comfort food for a good price. Old fashioned dinner. Steak and eggs was good and a large portion.

Good food, good service but don't pay much attention when someone wants to pay the bill.

I can't remember which? I'm happy to report that the food and the service with new owners at the new diner is excellent. My wife and I both had the fried fantail shrimp entrée which comes with a salad and two sides. The shrimp were quite juicy and tasty and had a nice crunch so they must've been coated with among other things some panko breadcrumbs. The portion was generous as you will see in the photo. Both salads were good, but the greens were just a little tired. French fries were also quite nice and covered with kind of a tasty and crispy coating of some kind. Service was good and we never had to wait very long for anything. The diner has two display cases full of delicious, looking desserts... But we were too full to eat anymore. The bill for the two entrées + 2 soft drinks was $39 + an $8 tip. Good, solid diner food and I would return in the future with no reservations.

TLDR: Time capsule family restaurant whipping up delicious home style meals for a reasonable price…read more Come for the broasted chicken! Vibe: 5/5. Located on the outskirts of Hanover, Clair's has been a cornerstone family restaurant for the area since the 70s. Back in the 90s, I have fond memories of going to Clair's with my family for Friday night dinners. The restaurant itself has mostly left unchanged from what I can remember, but in a good way. The bright yellow sign out front, the ice cream cold display case at the entrance, to the charming booths with the removable partitions between each just play into childhood memories of simpler times. With how old the overall restaurant is, everything is well maintained and very clean. A testament to the hard working staff and devout ownership. Service: 5/5. We went on a Saturday night around 6pm for dinner and had a wonderful service. My party of 4 arrived to a fully packed restaurant, however we were fortunate to get a booth table after a brief 5 minute wait. The restaurant does not take reservations, but you can have Google call the restaurant to check on the wait time, a nice convenience. Our waitress was outstanding from start to finish. She was very friendly and did an excellent job keeping our drinks filled. Food came out punctually and piping hot. Overall, Clair 's staff has their service down pact and truly makes you feel at home. Food: 5/5. Exactly how I remembered. The core menu has remained mostly unchanged from what I remembered coming as a kid. From your classic turkey and gravy to Salisbury steak, all your classic family restaurant favorites are here. On top of that, they have daily specials that have a more modern/seasonal twist on the classics. At the time of my visit, they were serving Yuengling beer battered haddock which I decided to order. The fish was perfectly fried and had hardy portions. Speaking of portion size, each dinner included your choice of 2 side items from a dozen or so items. Highly recommend the breaded zucchini as well as the fried corn fritters, both of which were childhood favorites of mine that lived up to my nostalgia hype. Dinner prices range between $10-15 per platter, which is very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Don't forget to save room for dessert, as Clair's dishes up lovely hand spun milkshakes and sundaes using Hershey's ice cream. Overall, Clair's offers up the perfect casual dinner for those that just want to kick back and remember simpler times

Now, years later, my wife and I would pass by the new 81 diner and would always say we needed to try it. We'll, today was the day. We stopped in for lunch, and aside from a gentleman waiting for his to-go order, we were known as the customers. I guess not a lot of people eat at 3 in the afternoon. The atmosphere was very nice. The tables, chairs and booths all fit the diner nicely. My cheesesteak sub was very tasty. Their menu said no substitutions, but they let me withhold the lettuce, tomatoes and onions, which I'm not fond of, so I'm glad they let me do that. Along that note, my wife ordered the BLT sandwich, and gave me some of the bacon, which was really good! Our friend George ordered the pizza burger, which also looked good, and he seemed to enjoy it. Their fresh cut fries were fantastic as well. If I had anything to complain about, it would be that the music being piped in was too modern for a classic diner atmosphere and wasn't something we were expecting. Hopefully that's something they will eventually change. Maybe next time we will stay long enough to try some of their desserts, which looked pretty good too. We will definitely be back soon.

I felt justified to leave 4-Stars but I'm leaving 5-Stars and the reason is that some slight changes could eventually be made. New Owners are working hard to establish and build up business. First, the inside is very nicely decorated and extremely clean Parking is perfect with plenty of spaces The dining staff were working fast and efficient, younger folks with very friendly and positive attitudes. Overall the Staff was Outstanding ! We only seen the Breakfast Menu, it was well planned and very easy to look over and make your selections. I was a little taken back at the cost of the Steak & Eggs, the Country Fried Steak and Ham Steak, both with Eggs as well, compared to other diners, it seems a little costly. The food arrived freshly cooked and hot, which is nice and we ordered the sliced fried potatoes, these need to be improved, no flavor, adding just a pinch of seasoning would take this many steps up. I had the Pancakes, Eggs and Sausage which were standard breakfast food. Deb had the French Toast, Eggs and Bacon, same standard breakfast food. This indeed is a nice little diner, I would bet they will continue improving as each day goes by. We will give them a try for lunch one day
