The place is cute and so are the deserts, they start around 20 dollars, to try for your first time is nice but I wouldn't really go back, it's like cream with boba jelly filling. It's not really for me but I know it is for others my gf absolutely loved it. So it just depends but definitely worth a try

Cute mochi in West Covina, California... Searching our Yelp app for dessert after dinner, Lucky Sakura popped up on the top of the list, and I HAD to go. The name of the business is catchy, and the photos of the kawaii pink pigs, tigers, and Pikachu were calling me... Located in South Hills Plaza, we had just finished dinner across the parking lot at Cheers Cafe. It was really convenient to just drive across (in case the rain from Tropical Storm Hilary would get worse). Inside of the cozy shop, the Asian decor was cool! The plushie Pandas, swinging birdcage seat, and tea set displays were intriguing. There were so many kinds of mochi fillings! I finally decided on Green apple, Panda-shaped coconut with popping boba, and persimmon. The reindeer shape with salted duck egg filling couldn't be separated from the set of three. The nice gal at the counter was willing to give me one of each of certain sets. Fruit Daifuku wasn't included. I also wanted to try the black sesame filling... and even the one with Purple rice... maybe next time!

Lucky Sakura offers the perfect treats for gifting. Ever since Japan I have been craving a strawberry daifuku and just mochi in general. I made my husband take me here on the way back from visiting our friends. This little casual shop offers the cutest desserts. They have pastries, coconut puddings, tanghulu, and their popular adortable daifuku treats. I was impressed by all the different caricature and flavors that were made. On that Sunday there were mochis of hello kitty, unicorns, pigs, bunnies, cats, pokemon and more. And there were all sorts of fruit flavors including mango and durian. What I didn't like was that you can't just order one individual daifuku. The minimum is 3 in a box, which was $20/box. They also had boxes of 4 and more. I ended up getting a box of 3 strawberry pig daifukus and a coconut pudding. It was $26 total. The girl there was so nice and gifted me a complementary candied hawthron berries tanghulu. I was a little surprised that the strawberry daifukus were barely sweet. I wish it was a little sweeter. There was a little too much cream for my liking. The mochi was very soft which I liked. But overall it tasted bland. The coconut jelly was good though. The tanghulu was also good but the candied part had melted and was dripping everywhere. It also didn't taste overly sweet. I appreciate the the daifukus are creatively crafted and the complementary gift but overall I wasn't in love with how everything tasted. I also didn't like that you were forced to buy at least 3 which was too much mochi, strawberry and cream for one person. However, I did enjoy it all and the experience. I do like that this place is unique to everywhere else. Besides treats, they also sell cute plush stuffed animals. I really wanted to love this place but I probably won't be back since it is far. However, if you are in the area this place does make for great gifting to foodie friends.

Lucky Sakura is a Japanese-style mochi dessert place. This place is pretty and also the desserts are pretty cute characters. I bought a few different ones for dinner with friends. All my friends enjoyed each of them and taught it was very cute. The sizing is one mochi per person it's a little bit bigger than normal mochi-size desserts. The price though is quite expensive. This is a place I would go to for special occasions like birthdays and things like that. They also recommend you pre-order if it's a large order. They sell items with three mochis inside. I like the panda and hello kitty ones! So cute.

I came with a friend a while back. We got the piggy mochi and the crepe. The crepe was delicious. Only thing that didn't hit 5 stars is that it melts too fast. Theres a few tables inside. It is located in a plaza, so easy plaza parking.

    Super cute!

Honestly I really wanted to support Lucky Sakura and say that I loved their mochis, but the taste of the mochi is just not good. I picked up the 3 pack of Pikachu mochis and persimmon mochis as Valentine's Day gifts. Although super cute, the taste was just lacking. Neither of them had any particular taste and the texture was just way too soft like sticky paste. The Pikachu mochi had whipped cream and some popping boba inside, but there was really nothing remarkable about it. The permission mochi had some tiny pieces of fruit inside, but was also overall pretty bland. For $18-$20 a box I really didn't think it was worth it. They were only cute to look at, but if I'm going to eat these as desserts I'd prefer getting a dessert that actually taste good. The salted egg nougat was the only redeeming item for the 2 star review. This item was quite delicious and at $13 a box I felt was more worth it than the mochis.

After seeing this shop on many social media posts, I finally got to try it for myself. I will have to say, the aesthetically pleasing nature of the desserts definitely live up to expectation. Food: 4/5 - the daifuku mochi was clearly fresh and they are stuffed with whipped cream and fresh fruit. I can tell the shop makes it from scratch and fresh each day based on the consistency of the daifuku. It was super soft and I'd definitely say tasty. The best part was the novelty of the daifuku characters. They have regular/non-character daifuku as well. Price: $$$ - it is not cheap here and I completely understand that it is due to the novelty of the mochi desserts. You're definitely paying for the experience, aesthetic and they freshness. I got 3 Pikachu daifuku and it came out to be $20 for that box. If I had gotten plain mochi with the same filling, it would have been $15. For only 3 daifuku, that is quite a pretty penny but like I said, it is for the experience and novelty. Service: The cashier was pretty nice and asked if we wanted other products. Primarily let us look around alone though. Location: 4/5 - located in a busy plaza so there is plenty of parking but you may be walking a little bit. It's ok though!

    Inside is cute

I'm stuck between 3-4 stars and here is why. The ambience was very cute when walking in. There are two tea tables you can sit at and eat your mochi or drink tea. The girl who worked there was very nice and helpful. These mochi were pretty expensive for what it should be, but all the labor to make it look nice goes into the price. The price is worth it if you are into esthetics. Flavor... was eh? I was a bit disappointed because the flavor was a bit basic for the price you pay $$$$. I wouldn't do the popping boba because you are basically paying for the syrup in the "popping boba." I was hoping for some real fruit in them as well but I guess the description was only for "popping boba" of whatever flavor you choose. I would say the best one of the three I had was "flavor mango," at least it had real fruit in them. The mochi was very soft as it should and it was a good texture that melts in your mouth. It was not overwhelming sweet for those who don't have a sweet tooth. The cream filling looks like cottage cheese as it would be chunky, but it was surprisingly not like that. It was smooth.

This place is now called Flora Bakery and Tea. We went for the roasted milk tea. We were given yummy snacks while waiting for the worker to help us prepare the materials to make our milk tea (first roasted tea leaves over the fire, then added water to boil, then milk). There is a large collection of ingredients we could pick to add to our milk tea, like dried roses, chrysanthemums, osmanthus, honeysuckle, dried dates, goji berries, etc. I recommend to go during fall or winter when the weather is a bit cooler... Worker was extremely nice, very fun experience. $30 per person. Interior is also very nice and cute decor.

Finally stopped by this place to check out their adorable desserts. Very cute tiny dessert place sharing the same parking with Tokyo central. They specialize in the Asian mochi, and Taiwanese desserts. We got the character mochi desserts...we wish that the filling inside is fresh fruits rather than popping boba but the skin of mochi and everything is very good balance; it will be better with fresh fruits inside. They did do a good job of each decoration of each character. They are pricy (15 for normal one and 20 for the character one), but they are so cute and hard to resist.

The desserts are very beautiful and unique here. Everything was very fresh and tasty. I wish the Mochi could have more fruit inside. It was only little bits and mostly whipped cream. The Mochi is very soft and unlike other Mochi places I've tried. It was VERY expensive for what it is but it's delicious for an occasional splurge. I just spent $71 on dessert Mochi-- I like the strawberry and mango flavor Nougat- I get the strawberry one

    Susan S.

The mochi are very cute and nice for photos, but that's about it. Not worth $6-7 a piece. I really wanted to like these, but unfortunately I can't justify the price. Definitely will not return, sadly. The mochi was too thin, soggy, and kind of bland. We tried the ones that had strawberries and cream in it and a couple others had Oreo.

    Kevin J.

Really enjoyed the craftsmanship of the desserts! They are quite expensive but I think its justified because of the labor that goes into it. I would say that it is better as a gift then as a casual dessert. Even the restaurant setup feels not casual. There wasn't any seating and looked like a pick it up and go kind of place. I was able to try the oreo(unicorn), tiramisu(bear), persimmon(persimmon), and passionfruit(pikachu) As well as their popping boba flavors green apple and peach. The mochis were a very soft and stretchy. Filled with a lot of cream and flavor. Very enjoyable. The best flavors for me we passionfruit and orea while the worst were the popping bobas. The bobas Just felt a bit out of place.

Hi I really like the persimmon one called I don't see it on the site?

    it's there at the store

Do you have to preorder some of the characters box? Thank you

I highly recommend it because they seem to sell out fast. Didn't see a single one this past weekend. Be sure to check price before ordering. Price is different based on character, and it can be very expensive.

What's the business now? I don't see it showing on yelp

You can look it up under Desserts in West Covina and it should be listed there

They let me know all the different desserts and options. They also explained pricing and availability to me. They showed me all the different toppings that they have for not just ice cream and sundaes, but crêpes as well. Considering I walked in here, thinking that this was strictly an ice cream place, they have a very large menu. One thing that I remember very fondly about my visit here was not that there were a lot of people here, but the people that were dining in, they were mostly families with children. That may not seem like an important thing, but to me, seeing that is precious More often than not, you see children, their parents, and even their parents parents. So sometimes you get a small group of people, but really you have three generations. Quality time like that is absolutely precious and to see them so engaged in conversation with one another and laughing the entire time and sharing dessert, that was so awesome. Sharing ice cream with my dad at an ice cream parlor near our home is a very fond memory for me. So I guess that's why I paid attention to this while we died at scoop Street. When I took a moment to take a step back and look at our little family, we also were there in our lil three generational group: me, my kiddo & my Mom. The prices here are more than reasonable. The ice cream that is used for their desserts is from thrifty. The waffle cones are made in house and smell amazing. There really wasn't anything more than I could've asked of this visit to the ice cream shop. This was so special. Servers: Art & Austin

Friendly young staff but service was slow and inattentive. They primarily serve Thrifty Ice Cream, a classic Southern California brand. The shop's main draw is the funnel cake. The Churro-Chata, topped with horchata ice cream and mini churros is our favorite. Portions are big and shareable. Ironically, Churro Boss (Covina) offers better quality ice cream than churros. I arrived at Churro Boss (Covina) on Sunday (around 2:35PM). Staff is very welcoming and attentive. Staff speaks English and Spanish. Staff answered all my questions. I ordered the Churro Sundae ($10). This dessert includes one scoop of ice cream and two six inch churros. I selected the Chocolate Malted Crunch ice cream scoop. The entire dessert was ready in eight minutes and 16 seconds. The dessert arrived picturesque. The Churro Sundae ($10) is attractive and fairly large; however, its taste is underwhelming. Although it felt like the churros were made-to-order in the backroom, the churros tasted bitter, chewy, and overcooked. These churros also lacked sweetness. Rather, these big churros tasted like chunky breadcrumbs. Fortunately, the Chocolate Malted Crunch ice cream scoop tasted delicious! It had an addictive crumbly texture. The ice cream also carried a chill and creamy chocolate flavor. Regarding ambiance, Churro Boss (Covina) is lackluster. It feels empty. The only seating is one long counter which had splotchy dried stains and crumbs. The location also has no restroom. Customers need to use their bottle of hand sanitizer or napkins if searching to clean their hands. There's two electric wall sockets in the far corner. And steady country music played in the background. Churro Boss (Covina) tries to be be modern and minimalistic. Overall, Churro Boss (Covina) offers tasty ice cream and pleasant service. Unfortunately, its churros are overpriced and somewhat unpleasant. If searching for some tasty ice cream, this location holds potential. 3.5 out of 5
