This is now called " Flora Bakery & Tea". This placed was called "Lucky Sakura" before when it was first opened in 2021-2022. It is located in the Tokyo Central plaza near the Dunkin donut stores. Plenty of parking because it shared with a whole bunch of stores in the strip mall. Regardless of change of owner or the change of name, this place is always known for its mochi with stuffings and cute design. You can always customize your preference or have to custom make for you. The difference is probably they have less variety of food now, just mochi and cakes. Flora Bakery & Tea has been in business for almost a year. The quality of mochi is still great, size is still big and cost is still kind of pricey. You get 3 for $20. The exterior & interior design of this store is pretty with flowers and cherry blossoms ( like a garden ) feeling. It has an area where you can sit outside or inside to chitchat and eat your dessert. They have many kind of options. Different cartoon and different stuffings in there for example, strawberry, green apple, peach, Oreo, mango. Each one has a very good taste to it. The name of the business is catchy, and the photos of the kawaii pink pigs, tigers, and Pikachu were calling me... Located in South Hills Plaza, we had just finished dinner across the parking lot at Cheers Cafe. It was really convenient to just drive across (in case the rain from Tropical Storm Hilary would get worse). Inside of the cozy shop, the Asian decor was cool! The plushie Pandas, swinging birdcage seat, and tea set displays were intriguing. There were so many kinds of mochi fillings! Lucky Sakura offers the perfect treats for gifting. Ever since Japan I have been craving a strawberry daifuku and just mochi in general. I made my husband take me here on the way back from visiting our friends. This little casual shop offers the cutest desserts. They have pastries, coconut puddings, tanghulu, and their popular adortable daifuku treats. I was impressed by all the different caricature and flavors that were made. On that Sunday there were mochis of hello kitty, unicorns, pigs, bunnies, cats, pokemon and more. And there were all sorts of fruit flavors including mango and durian. What I didn't like was that you can't just order one individual daifuku. The minimum is 3 in a box, which was $20/box. They also had boxes of 4 and more. I ended up getting a box of 3 strawberry pig daifukus and a coconut pudding. It was $26 total. The girl there was so nice and gifted me a complementary candied hawthron berries tanghulu. I was a little surprised that the strawberry daifukus were barely sweet. I wish it was a little sweeter. There was a little too much cream for my liking. The mochi was very soft which I liked. But overall it tasted bland. The coconut jelly was good though. The tanghulu was also good but the candied part had melted and was dripping everywhere. It also didn't taste overly sweet. I appreciate the the daifukus are creatively crafted and the complementary gift but overall I wasn't in love with how everything tasted. I also didn't like that you were forced to buy at least 3 which was too much mochi, strawberry and cream for one person. However, I did enjoy it all and the experience. Honestly I really wanted to support Lucky Sakura and say that I loved their mochis, but the taste of the mochi is just not good. I picked up the 3 pack of Pikachu mochis and persimmon mochis as Valentine's Day gifts. Although super cute, the taste was just lacking. Neither of them had any particular taste and the texture was just way too soft like sticky paste. The Pikachu mochi had whipped cream and some popping boba inside, but there was really nothing remarkable about it. The permission mochi had some tiny pieces of fruit inside, but was also overall pretty bland. For $18-$20 a box I really didn't think it was worth it. They were only cute to look at, but if I'm going to eat these as desserts I'd prefer getting a dessert that actually taste good. After seeing this shop on many social media posts, I finally got to try it for myself. I will have to say, the aesthetically pleasing nature of the desserts definitely live up to expectation. Food: 4/5 - the daifuku mochi was clearly fresh and they are stuffed with whipped cream and fresh fruit. I can tell the shop makes it from scratch and fresh each day based on the consistency of the daifuku. It was super soft and I'd definitely say tasty. The best part was the novelty of the daifuku characters. They have regular/non-character daifuku as well. Price: $$$ - it is not cheap here and I completely understand that it is due to the novelty of the mochi desserts. You're definitely paying for the experience, aesthetic and they freshness. The price is worth it if you are into esthetics. Flavor... was eh? I was a bit disappointed because the flavor was a bit basic for the price you pay $$$$. Finally stopped by this place to check out their adorable desserts. Very cute tiny dessert place sharing the same parking with Tokyo central. They specialize in the Asian mochi, and Taiwanese desserts. We got the character mochi desserts...we wish that the filling inside is fresh fruits rather than popping boba but the skin of mochi and everything is very good balance; it will be better with fresh fruits inside. We were given yummy snacks while waiting for the worker to help us prepare the materials to make our milk tea (first roasted tea leaves over the fire, then added water to boil, then milk). There is a large collection of ingredients we could pick to add to our milk tea, like dried roses, chrysanthemums, osmanthus, honeysuckle，dried dates, goji berries, etc. I recommend to go during fall or winter when the weather is a bit cooler... We looked at their fridge area where the mochi was displayed and just chose a variety pack. It was around $20 for 3 pieces. Took it to the cashier but there was no one there. We looked around and people walking by would just look at us and they would walk back into the kitchen ignoring us. We thought someone would eventually come out to help us but no one came. After some time, we realized no one was going to come out and help us checkout so we just left. I came across several tiktoks about this cute little mochi shop and have been wanting to try it for a very long time. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. The worker kindly explained everything to us and even let us mix and match different mochis for $19. I got the peach, persimmon, and pig (strawberry) ones. The peach had peach popping boba and cream, the persimmon had persimmon fruit bits and cream, and the pig had strawberry fruit bits and cream. The mochi skin was extremely sticky and thin, not in a good way. I wish the mochi skin was thicker, had more chewiness, and less stickiness to it. I ate it with my hands, and by the end of it, my fingers all had the sticky mochi skin stuck on them. Each mochi was mostly filled with cream and did not have much fruit or popping boba too. My kids love this place! They always love the cute design and the taste. We usually get the fresh fruit mochi, either strawberry or mango with whipped cream. I personally am not a big fan of whipped cream and prefer the more traditional mochi like daifuku. On weekends though they have odeng? Fishballs and that's more my jam. Pretty good. The price is steep, about $20 for 3 pack so this is a rare treat. I think if they made it more reasonable they'll have more customers. There are even cute characters like Pikachu, Hello Kitty, and Pandas! They have a variety of flavors for the filling including matcha, oreo, taro, mango, and lychee. The regular daifukus are 3 for $15 and the specialty characters are 3 for $20. The Pikachu ran out went I got there, so I was pretty bummed. They said the most popular one is the piggy mochis, which is a bit pricey for 4 for $25. I wish you can customize which mochis you can get, but they said they don't do that, which is really confusing when they have a menu that lists the different mochis at $5/each. I think a better business model would be to sell individual mochis at $5 so they can reach more customers and then customers can choose to buy 3 specific ones for $15. Right now, the Lucky Sakura team decides which 3 mochis to include in their variety of pre-packaged boxes. I do agree with the other reviews where the mochi is very thin and different than the traditional mochis I have had. I mean, the place is very cute, but in terms of price and sustainability, customizations are always going to be better. There's a flower wall where you can take pictures on the outside and the inside has some IG worthy decor as well. It's located in a plaza where there's plenty of parking. They had different fruit mochis and my favorite one was the persimmon. The cream and fruit ratio was perfect and it's shaped like a persimmon on the outside. My friend and I tried the strawberry and apple Mochis, which were not bad, but the persimmon was definitely the best one for us. I came here looking for some fresh fruit in pillowy mochi, but I instead received popping boba. I talked to the store worker and let her know I was looking for mochi with real fruit in it, and she told me that the mango one had fresh fruit. I decided to come here on Saturday around 3:30 pm. I wanted to pick up some cute mochi that I've seen on Yelp and Instagram for friends and family. When I came in, I was greeted immediately by the employees behind the counter. There was also a friendly employee who gave me a rundown of all the items in the refrigerated case and the price since most items were not marked. I ended up getting: Hello Kitty Mochi, $20- Inside these mochi are whipped cream and pieces of mango. I thought the filling was nice but a little messy. The mochi shell, although very visually appealing and photo worthy, was plain and bland. I wished the person making these beautiful creations were flavored. I have made mochi by hand before and I remember the recipe I had followed had me roll the mochi in powdered sugar to give the mochi a sweet flavor. Peach Mochi, $18- Inside these mochi are whipped cream and popping peach boba. I thought this was okay but think I preferred the mango and whipped cream. The mochi shell was also plain too. Panda Mochi, $20- I was told by the employees that inside this set of mochi was supposed to be whipped cream and strawberries. But inside was actually whipped cream and lychee popping boba. I thought the boba tasted good but had my heart set for strawberries. I had read from previous Yelp members that they were told the filling was one thing but upon eating them, they find another filling. The mochi shell was plain too. ---------------- (Total= $58, tax included) Coming in at this time didn't have as many choices but one employee did put a cute set of 3 mochi that look like the lucky cat that you see at restaurants. But because I wanted to try one of each, I thought it would be best to mix the sets so that each box had one of each mochi. Best daifuku (dessert mochi) ever!!!! Another great find I wouldn't have discovered if it wasn't for fellow Yelper, Leonard A. I saw his review yesterday and immediately bookmarked this place, and decided to come check it out today. It's located at South Hills Plaza, same plaza as Tokyo Central. It's located on the west end of the plaza. I was initially going to give no more than three or four stars because of the price, but I changed my mind after trying its Apple daifuku. These are $6 per piece, which is nearly three times what you pay at gourmet Japanese mochi places, but these are quite different. These are pillowy soft with a very faint chewiness to them. And unlike the Japanese version, these are not always filled with red or white beans. The apple daifuku had light cream and real apple bits inside. The whole thing practically melted in my mouth. I also like that these are not very sweet. These are probably the least sweet daifuku I ever had. I thought it was clever of them to use chocolate Pocky stick and mint leaf for apple stem. I also got a box of character mochis but not sure what's inside all of them. These actually need to be steamed or boiled in hot water before eating. I wish these came with instruction. I wouldn't have known if they didn't tell me. I just boiled two of them and noticed they have sweet black sesame inside. I also tasted coconut. I think it's best to steam these over parchment paper because one of them started dissolving in hot water and some of the filing came out. Because it was my first visit, they gave me a complimentary tanghulu to try. These are candied fruit (or other items) wrapped in edible paper. They seem to have various flavors but I just went with the original one, which has hawthorn berry. It actually tasted like very tart strawberry with hard candy glaze. I will probably preorder some character mochi for Chinese New Year, so will definitely be back. These make great gifts as well. read more

Huuuge disappointment. I try not to go to places that don't have a lot of reviews, but I went here on the recommendation of someone I follow. The inside is cute and they have a lot of variety, but I was incredibly shocked at the price. What I got, the piggies filled with strawberries and lychee, was $25 for 4. That's the most I've ever paid for 4 pieces of mochi. But I came out all this way and made a trip just to try it, I don't live close by at all, so I just got it. The unpleasant surprises didn't end there though, because when I bit into it, the mochi wrapper disintegrated into nothing. No chewiness, just mushiness (with some hard parts used to make the ears and nose). It didn't taste like anything either. The strawberry one was filled with chopped strawberries that also had no flavor, and whipped cream. Actually the only thing I tasted at all was whipped cream. This was pretty disappointing as I was at least expecting it to taste decent for such a high price but it was just bad, taste and texture wise. If I wanted a thin wrapper filled with cream I'd go for mochi ice cream instead, it would be way cheaper and taste better. I picked up Fugetso-do mochi from the Tokyo Central in the same plaza ($7 for 4 pieces) and it was way better, it's what I expect mochi to taste like, and way higher quality for cheaper. I still had some hopes for the lychee flavor one, but this one was also a disappointment. It wasn't filled with actual lychee, but lychee popping boba. The only thing that made it better is that it had more flavor, but the lychee popping boba flavor clashed with the whipped cream and made it taste weirdly sour. Honestly I can't even consider this as a mochi shop, it's more like a shop for "cute pieces of art that you can eat and they happen to be made with something resembling mochi". This just seems like a place you go to for Instagram pics. Aesthetics were on point and the piggies were cute, but it seems like 0 consideration was given to taste. If it can't even taste like mochi, I think it's a failure. Once the hype dies down, I doubt the cuteness will be enough to sustain this shop if nothing changes about the taste and texture. I bought 2 sets of mochi - mango and matcha flavors - @ $15 for each set of 3 mochis. Steep pricing for sure. The mango mochi is plain mochi filled with mango chunk & fluffy whipped cream. The mochi itself was really thin and lacked the one thing I look forward to ... it lacked that chewy mouthfeel. The mochi is fresh but I really really wished it was thicker. Eating them felt like the highlight was the whipped cream, then fruit, and lastly the thin mochi covering. I love mochi everything but I didn't love theirs. They offer many beautifully decorated dessert items, which would be great for gifting. read more

I went to this place after seeing it on some social media. I read many of the reviews, but there was a well balanced mix of good and bad reviews. I had to go check it out for myself... The size of each mochi is appropriate for the price of the ones with no designs. It's more expensive with designs. The designs are definitely cute and Instagram worthy. However, the flavor is super bland. The mochi skin is sooooo thin. It's super messy to eat fresh, so I froze mine. I think it's more fun and easier to eat when it's frozen. Would I come back for more? No. Was it worth the time and money? No. Thank you. At least I can say I tried it. read more

SUPER CUTE, AESTHETIC DESSERTS! Recently opened in the Tokyo Central plaza, Lucky Sakura is where 88 Sandwich and Subway used to be, next to Rainbow Donuts. Lots of parking in the large plaza. In front there's a cute photo opportunity with sakura flowers, inside there are even more sakura flowers too. There's a couple seats and tables inside too. They're still setting up and getting ready to open so there were some boxes around. At the side hall, there's some really pretty tea pots and tea cup sets. I am not sure if they are for sale or if they are for high tea time. The desserts here are SUPER SUPER CUTE. Almost to the point where you don't want to eat them because you have to tear it apart haha. The worker here was super nice and sweet. She let us know what each daifuku flavor was, what each dessert had in it, and she's really friendly and went through the trouble of neatly packing things together. We got the: 1) Taro Daifuku: -Real bits of purple taro inside. -Strong yummy flavor of taro, went great with the cream. -None of the graininess you get with taro too. 2) Peach Daifuku: -Cute and shaped like a peach! -Real diced peach cubes inside. -Very sweet and I loved how fresh and crisp the peach was. -My fav of the bunch. 3) Green Apple Daifuku: -Also very cute and shaped like a green apple. -There's a small leaf and the stem is made out of chocolate Pocky. -Real diced green granny smith apples inside. -This one's a bit tart, so it's a really unique flavor for daifuku. Gotta try it at least once ! 4) Oreo Daifuku: -This one had the least soft mochi exterior, but was still good. -The "harder" mochi exterior made this much easier to cut and share. -It has a much more dark chocolate and cocoa flavor than Oreo flavor. The cream is all chocolate flavor too. -This was my dad's favorite. -If you like chocolate, you have to get this one! 5) Penguin Character Puff: -I actually haven't eaten this yet, but I was told that it's walnut and red bean. -Very cute looking too! I'm not sure if I'm able to take it apart to eat it. Each standard daifuku is $5, the fancier ones are $6. It is a bit pricey, but I say it's worth it as an experience and definitely for the taste quality! I don't think I can find a dessert place like this near me within reasonable driving distance. All the daifuku had rich, yummy sweet cream inside. Very addicting and I could easily eat so many of these. The mochi was extremely soft and gooey, very authentic in my opinion and I want to try even more of their flavors (matcha, lychee and rose, strawberry, mango, and passionfruit) We also got complimentary tanghulu on the house! They have it in red bean, durian, and original flavor. At first we thought this was dango, but we were pleasantly surprised! The paper exterior is edible and it has a great unique flavor. The outside was crunchy, sticky sweet and went well with the sesame seeds and the interior is gooey and a great tart hawhtorn flavor. I'd get this on its own ! Strawberry & Litchi Popping Balls Piggy Mochi: - 7/10 - Inside was strawberries & cream and litchi popping boba and cream (basic filling) - Mostly paying for the design - Mochi was thin and sticky -- I partially froze mine like another person had done and it was a little better - Characters are upside-down, against the piggies Considering the overall dessert, it's not worth $25 to pay for mediocre mochi and filling you can make at home. In the same plaza as Tokyo central this place serves up some of the wildest mochi. First off you enter and they have a lot of pandas plushie laying around. The mochis that are placed out range from super cute and decorated mochi to basic looking ones. I will say the mochi here is quite expensive about $20-$25 for a decorated one.(comes with 3) I feel it's something you may want to get once in a lifetime because although it is pricey the inside of the mochi is far from original and they make a great food picture. I got the mixed mochi set which came with mochi like tiramisu, honey & green tea, and itchi popping pearls. Overall the best tasting was the honey & green tea but they all had unique layers inside so can't really go wrong. Worth a try!! read more
