Felt like a roll ice cream after seeing it on YouTube recently. This is one of the few places within a reasonable distance from home. It's located in a plaza off Lake Dr. next to an Edward's theater. We came on a weekend afternoon and the place was empty. There are some counter seating against the wall under some Edison string lights (which should be dusted by the way) There's a kiosk you can take credit card or Apple Pay, so orders have to be placed there too. The order took about 2 minutes to make. It's creamy, richer and firmer than store bought or scooped ice cream. Good taste and texture, but because of the roll gimmick, it's pricier than other places. At nearly $10. per order, it's not something I would get often, but fun for kids to watch and try.
My daughter and I were craving ice cream after we watched a movie at Edward Regal Cinema. It was one of those hot days. Ice cream Chef is located near the cinema which is ideal. The shop has both indoor and outdoor seating. It is very clean and has casual vibes. Their ice cream is a gourmet rolled type. You can customize your ice cream by choosing your base, fillers, and adding your favorite fruit or toppings. They have many great flavors. We chose the following: - Cookies & Cream with fresh banana and less whipped cream. It was rich and creamy, and very artistic. - Nutella with strawberry, banana, chocolate syrup and kitkat with less whipped cream It was artistic, colorful, rich and really delicious. The staff were very welcoming and sweet. We had a great experience at Ice Cream Chef. I will be back to try more flavors.
Rolled ice cream is hard to find nowadays and I'm glad there's a gem in the neighborhood. The flavor options are on the minimal side and so are the toppings, but they did a great job nailing the texture and flavor of the actual ice cream. It was super creamy, thick, and not too sweet. Service was quick and friendly. There are a couple of bar tops you can sit on inside to eat your sweet treat. I would return to try their other flavors.

The ice cream takes about four minutes of preparation since they make it as you order. It's pretty cool to see how they make/mix them. I got the chocolate milk and vanilla milk. The flavors are good and tastes authentic. I can definitely feel the difference in texture since they mix and roll it up this way. It's not light and fluffy like regular ice cream. This is dense and packed in a good way. My mom got the taro and vanilla and she liked it. It's a bit pricey in my opinion, but I feel like most ice cream places are in this price range nowadays. I wish they have more flavors to choose from. If I'm in the area, I would consider trying it again.
This was my first time trying rolled ice cream and I liked it! I really liked the difference in texture compared to scoops. The strawberry flavor tasted so fresh. I felt like it was a little too much ice cream for me but other than that, I had a great experience and wouldn't mind coming again.

Saw on Yelp their menu had happy hour specials but apparently I didn't get that discount even though I came in before 4pm... Ice cream was good but pricy for the amount they give. (Smaller amount, compared to the other pics I see on Yelp..) (I could've went for acai bowl instead...) It was empty inside w one worker and a couple eating inside. Place was clean and plenty of seats Overall, it was an okay experience. I wouldn't come back.
Ordered one of their "Chef's Specials" since all the photos looked so enticing. You can order either at the separate kiosk on the wall or at the front register with the worker. My bf chose the "Nutella" ice cream which has a dash of whipped cream, banana slices, strawberry slices, drizzle of nutella, and a wafer stick. I would've liked to have seen a few more slices of the fruit rather than just 3 slices. Nonetheless, it was still delicious! The young guy working behind the counter was kind and inviting. There's glass so you can see them working on the ice cream and rolling it up. We were the only customers in there so our cup came out quickly. Rolled ice cream is always such a fun dessert! The inside is also really cute with fun, fresh modern vibes. Letters on the wall to move around string of light bulbs, and mirrors with quotes on them. Love the ambiance in here.
I honestly thought I wrote a review already, pardon my lapse in memory. Had the pleasure of trying their rolled ice cream and was excited to have a place for cold sweet treat mear the movie theater. Then Covid struck, lots of places closed and some didn't recover. It was great that they re-opened in April 2021. I won a year's worth of ice cream (one a month) playing their roulette. As if I needed more incentive to get ice cream. I've tasted their rocky road, s'mores, horchata, and, taro ice cream. Of course I like the rocky road the best. It's fun to watch how they mix and nudge the liquid cream on the cold slab until finally they roll the ice cream and slowly assemble them into a cup. When you choose from one of the Chef's Specials, the topping are already set. Otherwise you can make it your own by choosing your own base flavor for the cream and whatever toppings you like.

Came in on a hot Saturday afternoon for some ice cream rolls. Place was nice and cool inside and the young man working the counter was very nice and asked if we had any questions. Got the Fresas con crema rolls and the Taro rolls. Both came out quick and hit the spot, especially on a 98° day! read more

My first experience here was great. The making of the ice cream was amazing. The ice cream was very sweet: too sweet to my Subjective opinion along with Oreos and other stuffs. The service was great. This place could be a great date snack before or after the movie. It's 4.5 out of 5. Will come again for a more planned flavor. read more

Me and Ice Cream Chef. A Love Story. Without further delay let's begin this review. Ice Cream Chef is a small ice cream shop located in a huge entertainment shopping plaza on Lakes Drive in West Covina. It's indoor design and layout was cute and spacious; atmosphere was relaxing. They have outdoor seats with a good view of the plaza. I was greeted by a very young male staff and he took my order. I ordered a Nutella Ice cream. And it's texture was thick and flavor was close to perfection. I like the whip cream, slice of strawberry and banana as toppings. A perfect slice of heaven on a warm sunny Saturday. Their prices were fair. Overall, I had a good experience and ice cream. I recommend this little shop and I say this wholeheartedly I shall return. read more
It's not bad, it's not great though. I'd say overrated, it's pretty much just like Icicles and not worth the price. But the staff was friendly and I LOVED the topping labels - cinnamon toes cranch and niller walfors cracked me up. It's this meme which I think originated with RANIBOW SPRIMKLE, and I just thought it was really funny. I think that brought it from 3 stars to 4 stars. But the service was 5 stars and my 11 year old cousin loved the ice cream, and we did go for her, so mission success I guess! I just personally wouldn't buy it myself. Lucky for me, her dad (aka my uncle) paid for us so that was cool for me! The complex is nice. Lots of parking. I'd assume that's due to the movie theater mainly (Edwards Cinemas) I'm sure my cousin would give it 5 stars if she used Yelp! I mean, rolled ice cream is cool and usually a hit with the kids. Me personally, I'm cool with the tubs from Costco. In short, no complaints here but also it was nothing exceptional. read more
The ice cream is delicious and well prepared, the staff in thar day was so attentive, nice and polite. Tip: make sure you use the register in the wall to place your order if paying with a credit card. We waited for someone to take our order, it turns out that this person seems to be doing everything, order taking, making ice cream masterpieces and getting her own materials. Be ready to wait. I was running an errand in the area and stopped in for an ice cream treat. Located in The Lakes Mall complex you might not know it's there as it's not very visible from the street (it is in the same area as Edwards Cinema). This is a rolled ice cream place so it takes a few minutes to mix, pour, and roll the ice cream. They have several "chef specials" which are in-house concoctions that are pictured on their menu board. Or you can create your own. I chose one of the specialties: "coffee". This ice cream treat consisted of rolled coffee ice cream with chocolate wafers, sprinkled chocolate graham cracker crumbs, chocolate and caramel syrup, and some whipped cream. The ice cream rolls had a fairly strong coffee flavor which I enjoyed and all the toppings were sweet and delicious. Next time I'd ask for a little more of the syrups (that's just me and my sweet tooth). Customer service was exceptionally cheerful and friendly and the prices seem to be in line with other rolled ice cream places. My verdict in a word: Yum! read more

I was craving some dessert after dinner and decided to search for a place that served mint chocolate chip ice cream. I stumbled to this place and assumed it would be no more than $7 according to some of the old menu pictures. I'm not sure if it's inflation or simply outrageous pricing, but this small cup was $9.31. It's not gourmet ice cream and it wasn't something out of the ordinary that I would pay theme park prices. Rolls? The Asian community has been doing the ice cream rolls for a cool minute now. Nothing special. Not $9.31 special. I would have been much more happy stopping by a local Rite Aid and picking up the good ol' delicious Thrify Brand Ice Cream for less than $6. We came on a Thursday night around 8:30, and the wait was long. There were 2 small groups in front of us, and we waited about 15 minutes in line and then another 20 for the ice cream. They had one person taking orders and another making the ice cream. Mint chip: Came with lots of chocolate chips, a pocky, and some whipped cream. The mint flavor was good, but mine melted pretty quickly. Rocky road: Good chocolate ice cream with almonds and a very burnt marshmallow. The marshmallow was very bitter, but other than that, the ice cream was good. Overall, ice creams were good in flavors, but mine already melted quite a bit, as I was waiting for them to make our second one. And they were so backed up that they gave us the marshmallow burnt instead of remaking another one. I probably won't return because I don't know if the ice cream was worth the price and long wait. read more
**THEY ARE OPEN AGAIN!!!!** Just in time for summer too. I love this place! If you've never tried rolled ice cream, you have to just for the experience! It's ice cream made on the spot on a ice cold plate. It's like teppanyaki for ice cream! Kids absolutely love this place! Definitely a great place to take the family/kids if you have any. There are 16 flavors of ice cream and you can even add fillers and toppings to your ice cream. COME SOON!! Because there are some grand re-opening specials!! read more
