I am so done with that store. One of the main reasons I would go there was the pharmacy but now I switched to kaiser. The store is very basic. They don't even have some of the staples that one generally finds at other store. It was supposed to be remodeled and instead they just flipped the store around making the shopping arduous and a long process. Some of the employees are great and some are unfriendly and rude. The lucky off Alcosta blvd is 1000% better. It sucks that this is my neighborhood store. I have decided that I am not going to shop there anymore. read more

This review is for Shanda. I came in this evening to purchase my weekly lunches to bring with me to work as well as a bottle of wine to have with dinner tonight. When I got to the check stand I set down my basket and was abruptly asked "got your ID" by Shanda who clearly saw the bottle of wine in my basket. I said yes- and showed her my ID through my wallet window. She did not like this and said "take it out". Short and sweet? More like rude. No please or anything? Anyways- the reason why I feel compelled to write this review is because Shanda did not say hi to me, ask how my night was going, or ask if I found everything in the store ok. I feel like she basically just judged me for looking young and buying a bottle of wine. Hopefully Lucky can train their employees how to communicate better with customers. Treat your patrons like guests and have mutual respect for each other rather than interrogate and be short with them. I'll probably be making the extra 5 minute drive to Safeway to avoid Shanda in the future. read more

I only come here because it's close. I mostly use the pharmacy. They are all very nice. The rest of the store is worth 2 stars. The food selection (produce, meat, bakery) is scarce and not great compared to Safeway. Also they just moved everything around and stopped stocking a lot items I get. Life is tough! read more

We stopped by this store to pick up some last minute gift cards. We selected our cards right away and were in line within minutes of walking into the store....but....we waited and waited in the long ars line for 10 minutes (felt like 30) because they had one (one!) cashier working. And of course, as luck would have it, right when we were 1 person away from the front, another line opens up and takes the NEXT person in line (which was us btw) but of course, dude cashier takes the person two people behind us. read more

Visited again last October and everything got reset. They got new checkstands but the regular shopping carts are horrible! They're the same ones Raley's has and they don't fit as many items. The only things that the check stands are missing are the conveyor belts for the customers to unload their items. Also the candy racks with the LED lights. Those are nice. Other than that, the store is starting to make some progress. read more

We finally came here to check out for ourselves. Horrible! As soon as we walked in there was a horrible smell,floor is uneven and cracked(to say the least). Not sure if they were going out of business or moving items as no indication. Produce dept. See2nd to be very big,imagine they are their own as looks clean. On top of that their prices are more than any other store. We felt like we were in between a Freddy Krueger and Stephen King movie, and seeing customers running up and down aisles looking for items they came in for to employee yelling down the aisle where to go. read more

Thank heavens there is still a grocery store that's not a "marketplace." I get so sick of stores that try to be everything to everyone. Lucky's is a great basic grocery. My rating is really for the pharmacy, the fourth I've tried in Pleasanton. After dealing with attitude and indifference for years, I switched to Lucky's and I'm completely satisfied. They don't ignore you when you're the only customer, or stop to talk with each other in the middle of getting a prescription like the others. The pharmacist actually takes time to answer questions and explain things. I have no idea how a pharmacist can just shrug and walk away, but it happened at the other 3 pharmacies I tried. read more

This place is going down hill. The cashiers seem to inexplicably just stop. I don't know why but the delays must be intentional. They used to have stacks of baskets by the front door. Most often now I need to search through the checkouts and find one if I can. Produce is good. The shelves are consistently well stocked. They had a little coffee/smoothie kiosk. Service was pretty poor there and it's been gone for a while now. read more

This could not be a grocery store in Pleasanton. Walk in the front door and see table legs with a red plastic overlay and motor oil??? Clutter from head to toe. Vegetables overpriced and old, clutter everywhere. The entire store is an eyesore and I told the assistance mgr. Might not want to come back here. They have issues with their system upon checking out and wanted customer to wait until they got their system fixed. I have no time to standby there. Now forcing customer to continue transaction despite flaws in their system. It's a red flag to all buyers. Be cautious if you come to this place. They're really aggressive that you can't cancel your transactions yet your still in the cashier and haven't left the store and their system is still messed up. Not coming back. read more

This is about their deli fried chicken only. I happened to see online that today is National Fried Chicken Day, and having no idea where to get good fried chicken in a white bread place like P-town, I asked someone of reputable fried chicken stature where to get some and he suggested the Lucky deli. Wait, what?! A supermarket deli? Well, not being one to seriously question someone's authority on the subject and since I rarely eat the stuff and couldn't really expound on the nuances of the crispy chike, I went with it and picked up a bag. Let me tell you that it was very crunchy, salty with a little bit of spice, and quite moist. Might I say, some damn good fried chickum! read more

I am blown away by some people who work in the store. I come to Luckys quite often, I stop by after my early morning runs and I would often see people stocking the shelves. A person who stocks shelves is now a manager? Matt the new "head clerk" is absolutely clueless. How can a person who used to stock shelves become head clerk over night? Isn't there a process they have to go through? Matt doesn't know how to check and lacks communication skills with customers and his coworkers. I don't want to be in Matts line when he is checking because he takes too long and he is awkward. I specifically look to not be in his line. Don't get me wrong, there are great people in the store like Lisa, Shaunda, and Devin. It really bothers me that a "head clerk" has no idea what he's doing. This place is RIDICULOUS! Went here to order a cake for my sons baptism. When I got up to the bakery the guy working in the back looked rolled his eyes and asked if he could help me. I told him I wanted to place an order. He then looked annoyed and asked me to hold on so he could get an order form. When I was placing my order with him whenever I would say something he kept saying "yep" he was practically cutting me off. I then finished my order and left. A day before the baptism I get a call from them saying that the machine to put the picture on the cake was broken. I told him ok can you just add a cross please? The guy then said very rudely "A WHAT!?!" I said a cross!!!!! since its for my sons baptism!!!!!! I had sent my mom to get the cake since I was hosting the reception. When she brought me the cake I looked at it and said "that looks like crap" The writing on the cake was sloppy it looked like it was done in 2 minutes, not to mention the cake wasn't that great either. I called to speak to a manager the next day and of coarse no return call. I will never ever go here again. read more

I unfortunately live close to here so default to coming here sometimes. Sadly the workers are really poor at basic customer service. They make fun of the disabled woman who works in the deli directly in front of customers (happened tonight). The naggers constantly put all heavy items in the same bag, and don't ask to double bag, and the produce is routinely really poor. I don't recommend coming here, until they revamp the staff a bit. The manager of the store seems to be good, but the assistant manager is an enormous asshole to his employees as well, I've seen it dozens of times. read more

Love Lucky. I am a regular shopper because the staff are so friendly, the store is always clean and the lines move quickly through the check out, unlike Safeway. What's more is you get rewards for shopping there. I have gotten free meat, waters, strawberries, milk, 2 X $20 cash, pots, all for doing my regular shopping. The only reason I give it 4 stars not 5 is because you struggle to find staff on the floor to help you yet when you get to the checkout they ask if you found everything ok... a little late for that! But if you do find someone to help you they know where things are. read more

This store is close to my house so it's convenient, but unless I am in a pinch, I hate to go here. The produce is often over ripe, lots of the dairy products are within a day of expiring, the meat .....just looks bad. The store as a whole looks run down and not clean. Also, there are rarely more than 1 cashier at the check out and the "self checkout" always has a malfunction!! If you need 1 thing to finish your recipe, it's fine, but doing a full grocery shop there is pretty awful. read more

Today my roommate and I went grocery shopping , I must say as first I was pleased with the store being my first time being in there. Then I noticed when we were looking for something every employee seemed to "busy" to help us look. When we got to check out the cashier Adriana was not very pleasant to be around. Never smiled. She tried to accommodate two customers at once yelling across the check outs for bus passes for a lady who looked embarrassed. I personally felt bad for the poor lady! When she was able to attend to us as she was grabbing things out of the cart I was trying to manipulate things out of the way for me to grab my purse which was at the bottom of the cart. She couldn't even let me get situated without feeling I was taking up her time and inconveniencing her. When we went to pay we told her we were splitting the cost and that my card doesn't read when swiped and needs to manually be entered in as I am still waiting for a new card in the mail. She then snapped and said "we can't do that " when I asked her why because I have yet to have this be in issue she said with a big attitude "we just can't, but you can talk to a manager if you'd like" the manager was Paged to come to our check out. When the manager Rick came up his answer, again with a big attitude stated " it's our policy" when I questioned if it was just a lucky policy he said "yes". Very rude and stormed away. I will NEVER shop here due to the horrible customer service and the bad attitude from Adriana and Rick and I would advise to not shop here! Highly disappointed. read more

WOW This store is awesome we've lived in Pleasanton over 30 years and have always done the majority of our shopping at this store. The staff is always very,very helpful and friendly, but i think it all begins with the Store Manager name CARL. My wife and I were very sad to hear but happy for him when we heard that he was transferring to another store near Reno. Carl is always such a helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and smiling person who goes out of his way to help you find products that are hard to find. He's also always working so hard with the pallet jack and stocking store items. What a super nice guy, my wife and I wish him the very best we're gonna miss seeing you Carl. This is the closest Albertsons to my place in Dublin & I couldn't beat the good sale that was going on. The store is laid out ok, there was hardly a good selection on meat. I was in the frozen food aisle picking out a tiramisu, but 8 out of 10 boxes were opened (I managed to find one not open in the very back of the freezer). The customers there do not respond to "excuse me," they just simply look at you like you're in THEIR way. The staff was ok, no one went out of their way to help me or see if I needed help finding anything. The checker was nice, as was the bagger. I probably won't shop here unless the sale is THAT good. read more

I go out of my way to travel farther and go to Safeway whose prices and service are way better. It's needed at all the stores in the Lucky's in Pleasenton,Livermore.I hear many stories of the public stealing with no consequents.Go in like it's nothing and walk out with what ever you want,Adults and kids.Yeah I know this is mostly a caucasian area.My friend that works there told me a women walked out with $350.00 worth of groceries,She stop her at he car as she loaded with no plastic bags and asked for a receipt,Then had her go back in and pay.I told her good for you. Then week later she as back and filled a cart full of juice . Than weeks later in another store,My friend alerted Managers,the word is out easy pickens at Lucky's. She said it happens so much that it's scary to try to stop everyone.I pay and want everyone else to as well.Go loss Prevention lots of these people are repeat stealers. read more
