Tofu And Vegetables
Steve A.

Lucky Dragon is the only place in Yellow Springs to get Chinese. It doesn't have to worry about competition. The food can still be good. It's a nice family owned business. They do mostly takeout but you can eat inside. I had the tofu and vegetables for carryout. It's about $7 for the regular portion. This came with a good variety of vegetables. It was seasoned and didn't taste overwhelmingly of salt. There's Chinese restaurants that seem to just put MSG and then some vegetables in a container and give it to you. It wasn't the best Chinese by far but still tasted fresh. There are also some more authentic specials. In addition to fortune cookies you also get a roll calendar. This is nice for something that's free. It's the only Chinese in town. If you want Chinese this is the only option for about 10 miles. The menu is pretty typical.

Pepper Steak with fried rice and egg roll

Good Chinese food. Was unsure with the reviews but needed a small bit to eat later in the evening. The fried rice wasn't good, not much different than the white rice but everything else was really good. Egg roll was super crispy and the lo mein was AMAZING. Great flavor. Pepper steak was really good with white rice. Would recommend to anyone visiting Yellow Springs. Easily ordered online and then picked it up.

**Carry-Out Experience** Every once in a while, myself and my co-workers order Lucky Dragon for lunch. The ordering process is rather easy (via the Beyond Menu app), and it's typically ready within 20 minutes. Their lunch options are mostly $5.99 and it includes white or pork fried rice, and soup (your pick of wonton, hot&sour, egg drop) or a pop. I'm always a little leery of Chinese food, because I've had my cases of "bad Chinese", but Lucky Dragon has not failed me yet. On my most recent carry-out from here, I had beef/broccoli/white rice and hot&sour soup. I was not a fan of the hot and sour soup (weird taste to me, also the first time I've ever had this type of soup), but the beef/broccoli... yes please, give me more. Check them out if you are in the local area! Until next time, Cheers! -C.Rich

We thought the food was mediocre. Even the crab rangoon was bad, and that's a hard dish to ruin. It was soggy and thick with little filling.

I arrived at noon and the parking lot was already pretty full for this very unassuming Chinese…read morerestaurant from the outside. There is plenty of free parking which is nice. When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

Spicy Dumplings w/ chili oil - Excellent Crab Rangoons -…read moreAbove Average+ My family ordered Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken & Hunan Chicken. I had the Kung Pao Chicken & it was by far the best I'd ever eaten. So many layers of flavor & heat. (a bit spicy for me, but I struggled through & loved every bite) Will definitely be back to explore some of the more "exotic" dishes on the menu. (Wasn't feeling to adventurous this trip) The restaurant was well decorated & the staff took great care of us. (saw a large selection of dumplings at this place too.....definitely be back to try those)

A hidden gem in Dayton, of all places. I haven't had many Asian restaurants of any kind that tasted…read moreauthentic in Dayton, but this is one of the few. The noodles are actually made in-house and have a lovely texture. I got the Classic Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup and was definitely not disappointed. The broth is light, but full of flavor at the same time. It is truly very comforting on a cold winter night. I think the beef slices on there are a bit tough, but it's not too big of an issue. The portion sizes are actually crazy. I got the regular size and could finish maybe just half to 2/3 of the noodles, along with a majority of the beef. I can't imagine how massive the large bowl would be... For health, I also ordered some stir-fried bok choy. This was stir fried well, but I'm not really sure what the flavor profile was supposed to be. Is it garlic? Is it spicy? I couldn't really place it. The prices are very fair for the quality of food they provide, and service throughout the night was decent. I will probably be back again, if I visit Dayton! This was husband's first time eating here while I've been here twice with friends. He must've enjoyed it because he ate all of the noodles and sipped half of the broth! I could only finish half and took leftovers home, which is typical. Serving size is generous and food is always temperature hot and flavorful. I try to order something different from the menu each time I visit. This is the first time I remembered to take pictures of what we ordered. Food smells and looks so good I forget .
