Another outstanding meal from J's Cuisine. Whenever we're in the Troy area and craving Chinese food, this is our go-to spot. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. Last night we ordered takeout and enjoyed crab Rangoon, shrimp and vegetables, Szechuan chicken, and hot and sour soup. The Szechuan chicken had just the right kick, the soup was spot-on, and every dish tasted like it had just come out of the kitchen. Best of all, the order was ready the moment I walked in the door. Have been a customer at this restaurant for many years, as food quality and service have always been top notch. Over time the menus have changed, of course, but always a good value and food. Last evening, it appears that a LOT had changed. ( New owners, new chef, ???) Breading on chicken was soggy and flavorless, almost no vegetables. (Maybe taken from freezer and put in microwave?) Dipping cause was terrible. Thank heavens the rice is still good. Please bring back the fresh flavorful recipes, the crispy breadings, the tasty vegetables and sauces. This place was busy, but I don't understand why? It does have pretty nice atmosphere. We found the food mediocre minus. My seafood delight was not delightful. Shrimp were mealy, and I have no idea what the 'crab' or calamari' was made of ? Tasteless and rubbery. I would equate the food quality to an all you can eat Buffett. Have recently done both carryout and in-house dining here, and the experiences were quite different. All of the dine-in food was exceptional. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice casual, and the servers are excellent. Carry out order seemed a bit less high quality, but was still above average, and the order was correct. Will definitely dine in again soon, but not as likely to order carryout again, or if we do it will be stir fried foods rather than fried/sauced ones. read more

Forget a picture of J's sample platter, has two of egg rolls, chicken pot sticker, steak pot sticker, crab Rangoon and two fried shrimp. Was very good I had the Mongolian trio and the wife had the orange peel chicken. I had the jasmine ice tea and enjoyed the pleasant taste. Bathrooms were very clean and so was dinning area. Staff friendly and helpful. I agree the outside of the restaurant will fool you a bit but a very nice environment inside, a hidden gem. We would return. read more

Wow! Sometimes that's all you can say. Wow! From the fresh made, REALLY stuffed egg rolls to the Jasmine tea, everything was top notch! My wife had some dish with shrimp, chicken, and beef (called Tri-something). I had orange peel shrimp, and we shared the crab rangoon. The orange peel shrimp had a delicate crunch to it that was very refreshing. Sometimes there is a batter that is hard and very crunchy. This was not. It was delicate and perfectly complemented the succulent shrimp that it covered. As a county health inspector (in another county) I have to say their bathrooms are immaculate. Wow, What an incredible meal we enjoyed at J's Cuisine. The general tso's chicken was perfectly cooked. And the vegetable low-mein had a nice variety of vegetables. Its location is kind of hidden... as it's tucked in a red brick building... and well worth the search. The people working there are very calm and professional. We will be back for sure! read more

Always love going to J's. Their lunches are the best Chinese lunch in the area. Quick service too, usually food comes out within 15 minutes of ordering. Always consistent and delicious. Also, lots of people order takeout here and they keep up well with lots of orders. Highly recommend! read more

I love J's!! First, best crab rangoons EVER! I will seriously order several orders to take home just to have for later, the next day, to last a week! I usually order Chicken and Broc.. my fav. But one time decided to order the honey walnut shrimp.. OMG amazing! And the last time I was there the check came out and I swear it was 20 something. I looked at it a few times. I paid with cash, and when they brought me back my change it was more change than it should it have been. My receipt then read it was much less than I swear it said before. I questioned them but they refused to let me pay the difference I OWED THEM! They said it was right and I didn't owe them anymore money. I left baffled. Happy, but baffled but I still them owed them 10 dollars from when they UNDERCHARGED ME! But that's OK I got them back with the tip! Hahaha take that J! lol. I went to this restaurant on a Monday afternoon with my family. We were one of just people in the restaurant. The server was nice and he provided us with everything we needed. I saw the lunch specials that were $7.49 and I could not pass up on it. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice, broccoli, wonton soup and crab lagoon. Here are the ratings for each food: Wonton Soup: 8/10 - Good, best I've had in awhile General Tso's Chicken with fried rice - 9/10 -pretty good, the chicken was nice and tender Crab Lagoon- 7/10- it's just fried cream cheese Broccoli was cold and needed - 4/10 (6.5/10 with salt) Overall, it was a good meal. I've had such a hard time for the past few years to find Chinese food that was consistently good. I think my problem is solved! Tried out J's Cuisine for the first time over the weekend and I'm really happy with my experience. For my takeout order, I ordered orange chicken with fried rice and crab ragoons. The orange chicken was so tasty! No complaints about it or the fried rice (although I don't understand why it's an uncharge). I'm VERY picky about crab ragoons but there's were full of flavor and they don't skimp on the filling. I had plenty of food leftover for a meal the next day which is always a plus. It was easy to place the to-go order. The staff were wearing a mask when I went to pick it up. To my knowledge, they don't offer curbside pick-up which would be nice considering the time we are in. read more

Very awkward visit while on business locally. Hot and sour soup good but chicken noodles were terrible - bland, soggy and just not nice at all. Didn't help that a guy pretty much sat across from me wrapping silverware in napkins and staring at me while I ate and coughing while he touched the silverware - glad I used chopsticks. read more

Had J's while in Troy visiting. The food was very delicious. We called in an order at 8:40 pm and it was ready in 12 mins. Portions were large. Got a combination plate. Got an egg roll, 1 wonton, wonton soup, fried rice and General Tso's chicken. I will def come here again. read more

First time visiting J's tonight. Excellent. I had the Empress chicken and it was spiced perfectly. My wife had chicken Lo Mein, delicious. Sweet and sour chicken for my daughter. Fried perfectly with not too much batter and not oily. I asked for mine to be very spicy and it was spot on. Service was welcoming and very helpful in explaining the dishes, spice level and pricing. Went here for the first time this weekend. Their starters were some of the best I have ever had. The Crab rangoon was on point. My seafood lo mein was not as tasty. The noodles were more like thin speghetti and 90% of the veggies was slicked onion. My friend got the Kung Pow Chicken and she did enjoy that. The service was the only mark down simply because we were never asked about or food or refills but the communication we did have was pleasant and the food came out fresh/hot. Here's a run down: Wonton soup is delicious Egg rolls are fresh and delicious Crab Rangoon- made just right, delicious Chicken & broccoli - kids had this, they hit it so it's good. Scheshwan shrimp & scallops -brown sauce made & cooked just right. Brown rice was freshly made. Marked spicy but it was not hot at all. Shrimp lo mein was very good. Triple delight - beef, chicken, shrimp, a home run. Portions are large and filling, none of us left hungry. Service is very attentive and friendly. No alcohol but they are working on that. Possibly the best Chinese food I've ever had. This fantastic little hole-in-the-wall deserves the high ratings it has been getting. A delightful little restaurant run by a husband and wife, this restaurant excels in every regard. They are more then generous with the portions, giving some of the largest takeout orders I have received, but more than that they are generous within the meal as well. I ordered the pork fried rice, among other things, and was shocked to find it was almost 40-50% pork. Large, thick cut slices. More than I have ever received in a rice dish. First time here and wow!! The pan-seared dumplings are amazing! Large, crisp, fluffy, chewy... all the things a pot-sticker should be. The filling is sumptuous!
