Dragon China is the best Chinese food in Vandalia. It has all the typical Chinese favorites on its menu. The inside of the restaurant is sketchy. It's rare to have a crowd. This is more popular for pickup and takeout. I had the Szechuan Bean Curd. It's about $8 for the only portion. This item for whatever reason doesn't have lunch and dinner portions like most of the rest. It's a no frills place. Whichever you choose, getting dine in or takeout, you get the same container. There's no plates or anything like that. You will get your food in a takeout container if you choose to eat it there. As for the food, it turns out to be pretty good. The bean curd was the soft tofu which isn't my preference, but it was still okay. The item was pretty spicy. It gets a lot of delivery and pickup orders. If you go inside you will see why. The service is always quick. The longest I've ever had to wait, from the time I called and placed the order to picking up was about 15 mins. It's fresh and the food is always delicious. In an industry centered around cheap food, customer service and ambiance, I propose the following question: What kind of restaurant can have an awful, worn out, sticky interior crying out for help, a terrible out of the way location, a menu that's hard to read, higher than expected prices, no kids options and quite frankly, the stereotypical "You come, you order, you pay, you go!" rushed terribly impersonal service...AND YET BE PACKED with business?! A good location. Not too different than many other Chinese food locations, but they're fast and usually food is pretty good. I usually go once a month and they give me no reason to stop. Wish they'd fix the buffet line though. Helpful tip: Often times the parking lot is either almost or completely full because of Bunker's next door. This place has really good Chinese food. Takeout service is quick. They do have a small lunch buffet, but I have never been to it. Prices are very reasonable, and you get big portions. My only complaint (and yes, I can find faults with almost anything) is that the staff isn't always the friendliest. Sometimes some of the gals working in there look incredibly pissed off. Fair to average takeout, but we ordered a BOATLOAD of food for a Christmas day late lunch/early dinner and they got it 100% correct and FAST!! Avoid the hot and sour soup. Take a lesson from the China Cottage franchise in Centerville and Kettering and try to bring that flavor to your broth. Avoid the egg rolls: just do. The Kung Pao shrimp was good-- nice spicy level, but the general mood of the whole dinner was just "meh". There's nothing bad about this place. It's good, quick, inexpensive Chinese food. When we try other Chinese take-out when on vacation, it's usually not quite as good or not quite as quick. I'm sure there must be better Chinese take-out places around, but it just happens that the one two miles from my house is the best we've found. Got Dragon China thru Door Dash. It was delivered fresh and hot. Those are the only positives. I had four items on my order because it was my first time trying them and wanted to sample a few things. First up were teriyaki steak skewers. Tried the first one and it was almost impossible to get off the skewer. Flavor was ok, but it was so chewy, I couldn't even swallow it. Strike one. Next up, hot and sour soup. Huge chunks of mushrooms if thats your thing. But the broth was very thin, very light in color, and had neither hot or sour flavors. Two tablespoons of soy sauce later, and it is just barely paletable. Strike two. On to the entrees. General Tso's chicken and Sesame Beef. Both were good sized pieces, with decent sauce and spice on the General Tso's, and sweet but not overly sweet on the Sesame Beef. I go to open the friend rice to put the entrees over, and find strike three. Paid extra for fried rice, and it is nothing but white rice with a drop of yellow food coloring. Not fried, no veggies, no added flavor. I'm sorry, but this is $49.88 that was pretty much wasted. Won't eat there again. read more

This is the best Chinese food in the Dayton and Cincinnati area. The general tso, sweet and sour chicken, and chicken with mixed vegetables are all fantastic. I went to college at UC several years ago and was very disappointed that no restaurant came close to Dragon China. read more

Do not ever eat here! Went there for the lunch buffet and first off the staff was rude and was rushing us. You have to pay before you're seated and carry your plate, silverware & drink to your table. If you want seconds on the buffet you have to use a Styrofoam plate. First bite of crab Rangoon I had to spit it out, tastes nothing like crab Rangoon. The lo mein seriously tasted like cigarette smoke. We tried a little bit of everything just to see if it was certain dishes that didn't taste good but nothing tasted good. After cleaning up our own table we went to the gas station just to get potato chips to get the taste Dragon China to go away. We then got back to work and my co-worker even got sick. Now I understand why the place is never busy. I informed my other co-workers to never go there and to stick with the regular Chinese place we normally go to.
