One word...Fabulous! After learning that the staff or chef or whomever has been changed or resurrected we gave another try. Only had been there previously (a few times) for breakfast. This was now for lunch, on a Saturday. It was a shining light on the hill regarding the tacos. As the unofficial taco captain (I named myself that...and you can do the same), these treats were so good I ordered a second round (chicken and chorizo). We also got the beef tostadas. Great portion size, fresh, hot, tasty. This place may now be named The Cantina, but the sign still reads Lucke's Cantina. Try it...you won't be disappointed. I have eaten here a number of times now. The fajitas are great and can easily be shared by 2 people and still have leftovers. Margaritas are really good but a little sweeter than I like. (I always prefer a lot less sweet though) Breakfast and bloody Mary bar are really good to. The only thing that was disappointing was the steak burrito. It had way more beans than meat. I have had multiple people recommend the burrito though so maybe just a fluck. I will have to try it again. The service has always been very good and friendly. The ambiance is also cozy and fun. They do need to improved some of the landscaping outside. Some of it is a little overgrown and blocks the sign from further away. read more

Frozen strawberry marg was delicious. Chicken dilla was amazing. Idk what was in there but quite delightful. The enchilada sucked. Beef with a crunch to it?! Didn't realize they used corn tortillas sadly but the flour was an up charge which I would have done to save the enchilada but sadly no. ZERO Stars!! To Tip, or Not to Tip, that should be your choice. Well, not here and this has to be a first!! Place an order over the phone for pick up. Guess they weren't busy, because they take the phone off the hook if they are. I arrived when they said the food would be ready and it was. They brought the bag over to me and I handed over my credit card. When she came back, I put on my glasses and signed it. Then I noticed something in the charges....a TIP!! "For what?, I asked" Oh we can do that up to 10%. Really?!?!, It doesn't say it anywhere online, no one told me and it isn't posted inside. So instead of apologizing, the gal says you signed for it, didn't you read the receipt before signing?? Well...maybe if it had been given to me before she took the card. I was in total disbelief. I told her it made no sense, I could come in to eat, be given chips, eaten my dinner and if I didn't like the service, a tip is an option. She says they can do it. With that attitude and no apology, I said, keep the food, I'm not paying. Once in my car, In realized they'd run my card so I called from my car and asked for the manager, Of course, there wasn't one, never seems to be one there. (This isn't the first time I've had a problem) So, I was passed on to the bartender. Same story, the owner decided to charge a tip because the staff bringing the food are charged a sale or something. Again, I went over not being told online, when ordering or when paying this was a mandatory fee. When I said, if I decided to come in and eat it, they'd give me chips and I have a choice on tip. She says "the chips aren't free" Well, I've never been charged that before. What ever happened to the customer is always right, or do right by the customer so they come back??? Not here, they'd rather toss the food, $31 worth of it by the way, than try and make good by apologizing for there being no notification in advance. It could have easily been handled if they simply said "Since you were not informed, we won't charge you this time. Please remember from now on, you will be charged a tip when ordering pick up." Instead, I am here informing the world how, not only do they charge people without informing them, hoping we won't notice, because pick up people are usually in a hurry, they don't apologize or try and make up for it. What did I do? I ordered a really good meal from Harpoon Willies down the street, while in my car, where they don't charge a tip for carry out and couldn't be friendlier. I met a group of friends for dinner at Lucke's Cantina before a camp out and we had a bit of a mixed experience meal: enjoyable, but left room for improvement. The place is small and pretty divey, but usually that is a sign of some outstanding food. However, this place falls a bit short. As per usual we started with some chips and salsa. The chips were nearly inedible. It's hard to say what went wrong with them but they were hard as a rock and had nary an enjoyable flavor to them. After taking our orders the waitress assured us that a "new batch" of chips was on it's way out... when it arrived they were the exact same as the pervious ones. Their menu is a bit of a mixed bag containing Mexican food (as it should) and a handful of regular (American) bar food. While interesting it actually worked out really well given the numerous kids (ages 6-8) in our group. All the kids ordered bar food and seemed pleased (I tried the hot dog, which was JUMBO, and it was very tasty!). All us adults ordered Mexican and also seemed to enjoy our choices (which was an assortment of items). The food could be a bit more flavorful but I've had MUCH worse Mexican food in my life. This was easily just "so-so". Our waitress was a very nice woman who was great with the kids in our group. She was attentive and friendly and checked in on us multiple times (which is always helpful when children are in the mix). In the end, it was a mediocre meal experience. I wouldn't specifically discourage someone from eating here but I also can't sing it's praises. read more

I really can't recommend this one ya'll.... But first I'll start by saying the all the staff were all very kind and helpful, no complaints in that department. And the marg was tasty!!! Okay. So. I've just never had enchilades served with cold cheese sprinkled over the top and. None? Inside the enchilada??? Also, the steak was....the kind you might find in a high school cafeteria. Just not good. The rice tasted like plain brown rice. I feel like considering the consistent reviews of this place are critical of these items on the menu they would take some time to rethink their recipes. If you're lookin for authentic Mexican, go to La Fiesta down the street (sure wish I did!) White-washed "Mexican" food, and that is all. read more

I came here on a warm Saturday evening after our group of 10 had walked 8 miles on the Lake Geneva footpath. We were suntanned, sweaty, hungry and with a burning desire for margaritas and beer. If you've ever had that kind of exercise on a hot day, you, too, will know that you want serious nourishment, and you want it now. Lucke's Cantina is what I call a very basic restaurant. At least half the space is a bar, with a few surrounding tables. Our group was seated in the next room, where there were only tables. My first and most serious complaint -- Lucke's has exactly one toilet for the ladies. One. The men apparently have only one toilet, too, but hey, they take a lot less time. I can't imagine what it's like when this place is really busy. It was only semi-busy when my group was there. I stood so long outside the ladies' room, waiting my turn, that the men who were coming and going advised me and the other ladies in line to use the men's room instead. Ladies, be advised. Apparently there was a Fat Tire event in the Lake Geneva area that day. The waitress told us why we were being served margaritas in plastic cups. They were out of clean glasses. Huh??? You want to know what a margarita with salt is when served in a plastic cup? It's a margarita without salt. I ordered a $10 margarita recommended by the waitress, as did everyone sitting around me. My first sip, I thought, wow, that's good. Then I had a second and third sip. That was one weak-ass margarita. After the kind of physical exertion I had that day, even a little bit of tequila would rock my world. This was like drinking a glass of margarita-flavored tang. Big disappointment. Wish I'd ordered a beer instead. The first couple pages of the menu were common Mexican meal choices. Tacos, burritos, fajitas, chimichanga, enchilada. You do get a vegetarian selection under each category. I am vegan; I asked for two tacos, without sour cream or cheese. I have to tell you, those suckers were delicious. I loved, loved, loved them. Two tacos were the exact right amount for me, too. Two women near me ordered the vegetarian fajitas. I told my friend Jeannie, we should have split her order. There was twice as much food there as anyone could eat. The fajita folks ended up taking half of their orders home. They did say the food was good. Dan, sitting next to me, ordered enchiladas with rice and beans. He ate the whole thing. I said, you must've really liked it. He said, they were only okay. I was so hungry, I almost ate the plate. And "only okay" was the general review of the food. Lucke's is not the most Mexican of restaurants. There is a whole section of hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, wings, etc. Lucke's is definitely not a fancy place. Along with the margaritas in plastic cups, my tacos were served in a plastic tray lined with something like wax paper. You cannot get separate checks. I was hoping we could at least break down the orders a bit by, say, three and three and four, but nope. I do give credit to the waitress for getting everything right, and for working her butt off. Lucke's would not be my first choice were I planning to visit Williams Bay again. While I enjoyed what I had, everyone else reported the food was average. And, by the way, the prices did not reflect the casual atmosphere. This is not a bargain place. Don't let the atmosphere fool you into thinking you're going to save a lot of $$ here. And, especially, Lucke's needs to resolve the ladies' room situation. That's just unacceptable in a bar/restaurant business that probably accommodates at least 100 people when it's busy. read more

The only thing that was good was the guacamole... the "gold margarita" was weak and tasteless... I ordered a ground beef soft taco ..the meat was microscopic burnt chips that were from some left over meat on the grill...smothered in shredded lettuce ...fish tacos were again couldn't see the fish small deep fried pieces that were microscopic in size and dry...smothered in lettuce..tasteless.... awful...!! They used perch...it is customary to use tilapia in fish tacos that is moist and you gently fry the fish and it is in larger chunks and not deep fried and chopped up in small pieces....don't bother spending your money there...... read more

Pretty decent quality food here served by a friendly staff unlike the long waits and poor service often experienced in Lake Geneva. Generous portions on most dishes when most establishments are skimping nowadays. Always an excellent top quality Margarita over the years which isn't served elsewhere this consistently. Only thing we think needs improvement is the chips and salsa. Nice bowl of chunky salsa instead of the current bottles would be awesome. We'll keep coming back. read more

We just went to breakfast, ordered oatmeal, the serving size was extremely small! The bowl had oatmeal grains on the upper inside of bowl like a mistake was made. The oatmeal serving was most likely only a cup, the portion size given should have been doubled. This was our 3rd visit, there, love the guacamole/chips, and the Huevos Rancheros eggs which were fantastic. The service here stinks, the wait for today's simple breakfast was at least 20 minutes if not more! Each of our visits have taken place over the last 5 weeks, and each time the wait for service and food is a waste of our time!! I don't get to the Village of William's Bay often, but when I do, Luc's is becoming sort of a go to. I discovered the burritos some years ago, but the real attraction was the beer cheese soup. When you think Mexican, you don't think Wisconsin and when you think beer cheese soup, you don't think Mexican. I just stopped going over it in my head and decided to enjoy the food. As you might know, my approach to brunch is all about a great bloody mary. This place has a build your own bloody bar on Saturdays and Sundays during brunch hours. I didn't even know there was such a thing... Luc's Cantina was my first time, and I'll never forget my first. Since then, I've learned that Baba Reeba does a pretty mean build your own... but it's so easy at Luc's if you're already in the area. The service is always pretty good, and there's a good small town vibe there, as though everyone knows each other. An easy spot to get your Bears football fix in the land of Cheeseheads. I now live in LG, visited for years. Someone recommended it to me. We came at 4:45 on a Monday. The server was also the bar tender, I asked for Jalapeños in my Margarita and it kind of unraveled from there. She explained that due to her bandaids - hint, don't show customers dirty bandaids on your hands - she couldn't do Jalapeños and she was busy - only one there more or less - as I looked around. we were one of two tables and no one was at the bar. Have no problem spending $12 on a great margarita but mine was poorly made and seemed watered down. A coke is $3 - when I asked why she stated so you could have unlimited - that's why there $3 -ask what about people that only want one - she struggled with that. Also flour tortillas for tacos are an extra $.50 - never experience an up charge for flour torts in my life. The Chili Verdes special I was told was pork tenderloin - it sure didn't seem to be tenderloin but did seem to be boiled or microwaved. Another bonus was chips and salsa but they give you three squirt bottles to manually squirt each cup versus s bowl of home made salsa. How does this place survive when the tourists leave? By far the worst restaurant in Walworth county. I'm sorry we stopped. First, I ordered a beef and chorizo chimi and received chicken. Not a huge deal, I'm generally able to suck it up and eat. I couldn't stomach it. There was no flavor. The meat was just meat. Isn't chicken supposed to be seasoned. In addition, the waitress didn't come back to check on us until 20 minutes after serving us. Instead she leaned on the bar and talked to peers about someone else's relationship. When she did come back she was shocked and very sorry and asked if she could do anything. Chips and salsa we're ok but must have been sitting a while, we got there just after 5pm, my wife had steak tacos, and i had steak fajitas, if you could find the steak?, it was leftover, this place has lost its atmosphere as a good restaurant, too bad !, the portions we're plenty, but the quality has escaped. I love Lucke's. Our friend used to live a short walk (or stumble) away from Lucke's and any time we visit it was our first stop. The margaritas are yummy and large, and there's a nice little byo bloody mary bar on the weekends. We usually split an order of pico guac and each get 2 tacos, or split the big fajita plate. The tacos are great, I get them with cilantro and onion, but there's also the option for lettuce/cheese/tomato. The fajita plate fed 3 of us, 1 of which has a huge appetite. Googled the restaurant and the food looked good so I went for a bite. Hot sauce is not salsa but apparently they charge for chips and salsa when you get hot sauce. Chicken was not seasoned at all. Ordered red sauce got Verde. The chips were good but that was it. Service was horrible. They don't have hand sanitizer and with the covid scare around the WORLD everyone offers sanitizer. I really would like to rate this place higher as it is a go to for mexican food in the area, but the prices and the absolutely terrible service have to stop me from rating it any higher, I've been there 3 times sitting down for 10-15 minutes before getting up and leaving. Other times i have been there and have practically been forgotten about. The steak tacos are awesome and the other food is pretty good, It is odd paying a fairly large amount for chips and salsa when some places give you them for free. As of late the last few times i have had the itch of Lucke's i have called in my order for pickup, always works out well better service and i don't have to wait for a refill on my drink. One complaint about that is there was a gratuity added in to my bill on a take out order, not sure if that is common practice but i thought it was very odd, Since then i have been looking for other places to eat. read more

I came here last weekend for Sunday brunch with a group of 6 pretty skeptical that I could get even halfway decent Mexican food in Wisconsin. The Texas snob in me was wrong and pleasantly surprised when my huevos rancheros turned out to be delicious. The preparation isn't really your standard huevos, but it was still really good and the portion size is generous for what you pay ($6.95). I added chorizo for a little extra, which took the dish over the top. The bloody mary bar here is bomb. So many fixings and a ton of different bloody mary mixers to choose from (I stuck with the tried and true Zing Zang's, of course). No 5th star because my hashbrowns were so salty they were inedible and because the huevos weren't 100% authentic. That said, the next time I'm in LG, I'll be back for brunch! read more
