Pretty decent. Authentic food, cute atmosphere either a lot of barrel-based art and decor. Relatively affordable, swift service (though not super friendly, not bad either just perfunctory). We had the Bandera burrito and the fajitas. (Can't remember the name now). They were basically the same thing just different presentation. Steak, chicken and shrimp. The fajitas were a little overcooked but tasty nonetheless. Next time, I'll get the one with the salsa Verde instead of the one with melted cheese because there wasn't all that much cheese, and it could have used some sauce. I like that they still have free chips and salsa at all tables, though the chips were not all that good. I still like to have them. My favorite part was the head-sized (virgin) piña colada. These reviews are a straight up catfish. The good=salsa comes in a carafe, and there's plenty of it. That'll about do it. The bad=the chips were stale. Salsa was ok. We ordered the lunch special chimichangas. They did not come fried. It was basically a burrito drenched in some white type sauce that had no flavor. I'm assuming it was queso? The rice has cut up frozen vegetables in it. The beans were passable. Both meats in the chimichanga, chicken and beef, had an overpowering potpourri flavor. Either it was some cinnamon or nutmeg, but that's all you tasted. The blended margarita had the appearance of applesauce, and the consistency as well. I don't know how this place has all these five star reviews. Botanas, on fifth, in Milwaukee, reigns supreme as the Mexican food lunch special king. I hate to give bad reviews, but the catfish reviews on this place must stop. I'm just out here trying to keep it real people. read more

The chori dip is my favorite menu item here. But they do boast a rather large menu, if you can't find something here you just not like to eat. There is a huge variety of options for anyone. House made margaritas, generously poured. Large beer selection, and a comfy atmosphere to take it all in. The staff is always friendly and welcoming too. Came to this place based on Yelp reviews and had a good time. Unfortunately didn't get a picture of my Mango margarita but it was delicious! A nice touch of this place is that you get your own little salsa dish so you can dip into your own salsa versus sharing a communal bowl. Carne asada taco was great! Wished I had just gotten tacos as the chicken enchiladas were decent but not as good as my taco. Rice and beans were also tasty. Fantastic service and decor! The ambiance is good and attracts a variety of clientele from Mexican to non-Mexican. It's not the most authentic Mexican food, but you're going to eat very well regardless. The inside ia a bit more attractive than the inside. The strawberry and lime margaritas are delicious. The San Luis seafood and fish dish is really good but almost for 2 people (like 8 tacos-worth), unless you've got a huge appetite. I'd return to try more. read more

Wow! The food here is delicious. And you get a decent amount of a portion. I got the camarones a la diabla and in other places I will only get like 5 shrimps and here I got a good amount. It was too much for me to finish but I couldn't stop eating because it was just so tasty. The service is great as well. Overall great atmosphere the only complain is the temperature it was too warm inside other then that everything was amazing. Will definitely be going back again. Ps. We stopped in here for lunch a week ago while we were in town based on the reviews I saw online and I'm so glad we did! The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated but it was the food that really wowed me. I ordered a steak quesadilla, not only was it delicious, it was enormous. I forget what my husband ordered but he said he really enjoyed his meal too. Our waiter was friendly & stopped by several times to check in on us. My wife and I have lived all over the country and have eaten at plenty of Mexican restaurants. Places we've lived we've eaten our favorite local mex restaurant dozens of times. The food here is 4 stars EXCEPT the chips. I'm not sure if it was a bad week but I've never had chips this stale in my life at any mex restaurant at any point. It's probably the cheapest item in the kitchen and I felt like I was eating rubber. I would give one star but food is pretty good. Chips are the first impression and I hated that part. Good chips would easily have 5 stars. Food was 5 stars taste wise but only 4 stars because I was now worried about the freshness. P.S.
