Not the best, not the worst. Place is decorated nicely, very clean. Service was great, with the exception of originally being overcharged by $15. She corrected it and apologized, but there are many times I never really look at the bill, I just pay. Well $47 for 1 torta, 1 soda and a side chimi with cheese should NOT be $47 - it was $32 once corrected. Food: it was ok. Not very much flavor. The ground beef in the chimi (tasted on its own) was bland, just tasted like plain ground beef. Again, not the worst - not the best where I would crave to go back. read more

The Mole sauce on Beef Enchiladas is the VERY BEST!!!!! I have that everytime as it is so delicious.

The service was non existent and the food was so bland it was beyond fixing with salt or salsa and my steak dish contained all gristle and no steak. read more

I hadn't been here in years and stopped to get a to go order. I never ordered hard shell tacos at a restaurant before. So I ordered 3 and 3 Al Pastor. While I waited, I watched to most amazing young lady, Abby. Cashier, waitress, busgirl. She covered everything with a warm (5 tables and a few to go orders.) The tacos were AWESOME! I will go out of my way to come back here! The salsa was very freshly made also. I highly recommend!!!! read more

Honestly, I'm quite annoyed every time I order food because though the food taste delicious no one can read what I have requested on my order and I get vegetables when I don't want them. I get beans when I don't want it even though I've paid extra money for double rice. Truly, you just need to have people that can read what the request of your customers are. Your food is delicious your customer service however needs some improvement since this isn't the first time this has happened to me. I don't like lettuce or tomatoes, which leads me to not want to eat my entire meal so I feel like you all owe me $16. read more

Big menu, generous servings and really good food. Service is great, friendly and always accommodating!

I'm sure what happened here, but the chimichangas didn't taste like chimichangas at all. More like an enchilada with a thick shell. The Paloma hit the spot with just the right ratio of tequila and grapefruit chips were hot and Fresh. And the fajitas were cooked perfectly. read more

Los Compadres - Shrimp tacos!! So good! - Mexican Near Me - Burlington, Wisconsin

The food at this Mexican style restaurant was tasty and plentiful. The service was prompt, attentive, and professional. I had the quesabirria tacos which I've been craving since leaving So. Cal. They were delicious and the consommé had a delightful spice to it. My son tried the birria ramen and was very pleased, although he felt like the ramen noodle flavor packet had been used and probably wasn't necessary. My husband had the chiles rellenos and the poblano peppers were a bit spicy for him. He is used to the milder Serrano peppers at home. But the sauce was really good. The rice and beans were delicious. The tortilla chips were fresh tasting and the salsa before dinner was really flavorful. The restaurant is charming with real Mexican flair, and decorated for Valentine's Day as well. There is plenty of free parking as the restaurant has its own lot. We will definitely be regulars here! read more

I have frequented many Mexican restaurants in Waukesha and Milwaukee. by far Los compadres has the best food I have ever experienced. try the ground beef chimichangas and rice--go with the traditional red sauce(no need to add queso). I get 2 orders of rice and skip the beans but that's up to you. best tasting chimichanga I ever had--and with the chips and salsa to start you will be taking home tomorrow's lunch or supper. it's hard for me to finish the big portion. ENJOY. read more

I ordered a ground beef tostada with no beans. The waitress brought me a tostada with just lettuce and a Tiny bit of cheese and like 3 tomatoes/ I told the waitress the tostada was missing the meat and I assumed she would bring me A New one. 5 minutes a later she brought me a pile Of ground beef and beans on a plate. Why wouldn't they simply make a new ground beef tostada? The service and taste / temperature of food was Not good. The waitress never came back To check on us for drinks Or to to see if food was ok. I wanted to try this place because it's close to home and the good reviews but after tonight's experience we realized we would Drive way out of our way for a quality meal With good service/ this place was terrible. read more

I'm sad that this place is what it is now. Many years ago we lived out this way we ate here all the time. The food was always so good. Well do to Covid we have not been out this way for almost 2 years till tonight. We thought we would stop in... what a mistake. The quality is no longer there. Store bought chips, salsa made with roasted canned tomatoes. We both ordered enchiladas, and they came out with the wrong sauce. The rice tastes like that insta stuff you get in the bag in Walmart. Just bad. And the service... slow. Our waitress rarely checked in on us. There was only 2 other tables there besides us... so three tables for two waitresses. My food came out wrong with the wrong sauce and when I mentioned it to the waitress she said it would take another 45 minutes to remake it or I eat it the way it was. Between the low quality food and the low quality service we will not be back. It's a shame cause this used to be a really amazing restaurant. read more

Not great, food was just ok. Salsa and chips are $3.50 at lunch. Frozen margaritas are not frozen the ice is just ground. The hot sauce was good. Standard Mexican music blairing from every corner. Service was good. I would not recommend, I should have known when the parking lot was mostly empty at 12:15. read more

I have tried ordering from this restaurant FIVE times in the past month. Every order has been declined. One excuse was maintenance at the restaurant (although they still stayed open until normal closing time). Another excuse was the order wasn't placed by 8pm. When I informed them it had been placed prior to 8 PM, their excuse was there were other orders in front of mine and they need time in between to fulfill the orders. Los Compadres, Please don't lie to me! If you can't fill my order, just say so. Quit the storytelling. So by the time I was notified my orders were canceled, it was too late to order from several other restaurants. Fair warning...if you're hungry and want to order food from here, there's a darn good chance you'll be going to bed hungry. read more

The food was actually pretty good. Issues were with charges. Menu says "Market Price" for guacamole...never saw that before. Waitress said that the cost of avocados had gone up (what hasn't)?? Told us it would be $8.50 for a tiny little bowl of guacamole...the same bowl the salsa come in. Seriously? Skipped it. In checking the bill, I was charged for two beers when I only had one. Also, the bill included an extra $2.50 for cream sauce for my wife's chimichangas. We were never told there was a charge for a spoonful of sauce. While the food was okay, we'll have to think about whether or not we return. read more

Love the food, the staff and he environment! My family talks about coming here at least once a week

I've been here twice and enjoyed my meal both times. The chips were fresh, but I didn't care for the regular salsa, it tasted like it had tomato paste in it, but I love the salsa verde. The first time I visited, it was mild, the second time it had a bit of a kick. I chose the combination plate both times. If a taco is one of your options, you can choose between American style (meat, lettuce, cheese, tomato) or Mexican style (meat, avocado, cilantro, tomato and cheese too, I think). The burritos are big (Yay, leftovers!). The quesadillas were a little disappointing, they were puffy without much filling. Overall, I enjoyed the food and wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

After leaving a competitor down the street due to poor service, my wife and I decided to give Los Compadres a try. The furnishings are quaint and colorful. The establishment was clean. So, we are here in Burlington, Wisconsin for Chocolate Fest. We had our fill of Carnie fare and wanted something else for dinner. Los Compadres it is!!! There are 4 tables for outside seating, and a dozen inside. We were quickly welcomed with a smile from our server Liset, and seated at a table in front of the window. Chips and salsa arrived quickly. The red has a fresh garden taste, the green hits you with a quick citrusy, cilantro vibe and a mild heat follows. I was torn between a few items and our server said the tender pork plate would be her choice. I was leaning that way and glad I did! The carnitas came out tender and in abundance. The beans and rice were both prepared nicely as well. My wife ordered their combination #2 which included enchilada, chimichanga, and a taco. Also with rice and beans on the side. Everything was packed full of meat and the perfect amount of sauces. Nice beer selection from both sides of the border. As well as a few wine choices. When we come back to town, I know for a fact we will be coming here for another round of great food!!! Our server Liset was spot on with everything. Making sure each guest has a pleasant experience, and makes them feel at home. read more

This is probably the worst experience I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we got there and 2 other tables got their food before us. We waited 15 min to give our order another 35 to get our foods free finishing our food waiting another 10+ to get our bill. The food was extremely bland and unfortunate. Would have had a better experience at Taco Bell. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Side note: the waitress did gives us 10% off when we said it was all very disappointing but we will still not be returning. read more

For all the years I have been enjoying the high quality of service and cuisine at Los Compadres, they never fail at what they're doing. The food is always hot, fresh and fast. Great delivery service too (and I don't mean those overpriced fake delivery guys). The wife and I enjoy the food the people making it and will always recommend them to everyone. Other restaurants keep raising their prices every other year. Even though Los Compadres may have to do this in the future too, still, they haven't raised their prices in over 6 years! So totally worth every penny. read more

So let me preface this by saying this place is nowhere near where we live. It's an hour and 20 minute drive from our house. We stopped here a few days ago for a late night dinner because we were in town picking up a family member, and my husband used to come here often when he lived in the area. Due to the current pandemic, we placed an order to go just before 8pm. Website said they close at 8:30. Our order took 35 minutes to come out, which I thought was a lot for just tacos (I think we had 11 tacos total in our order, plus a side of rice and beans). There were only 2 other people that picked up their food in the span of time we were waiting. But... Not a huge deal. I ordered 3 chorizo tacos and 1 carne asada. What I got was 1 carne asada and 3 tacos that contained a mix of chorizo and other random meats; ground beef and some cuts of either pork or asada . Maybe they were running low on chorizo? I would have been fine with this if they'd just said something, but I thought the meat swap without telling us was kinda crappy. The tacos were AWESOME though. I can see why my husband talks about this place so much. Also, their green salsa is like nothing I've ever tasted before! So good!!!! But then today, we decided it was worth the hour and a half drive BACK just for more tacos (what?! I had a craving!!). We checked online and they list hours that say they're open. We called to place an order when we were about 20 minutes out, and no answer. At this point we were cursing ourselves for not calling before we left the house JUST to be sure. But we trusted what Google, Yelp, and their website showed: they were open. We show up and sure enough the lights were all off. So apparently they're closed on a Sunday, even though their hours online show that they're open. Not even a sign on the door. We were obviously pretty irritated that we drove all this way to find out they don't regularly update their hours with changes. This seems like a strange way to operate a restaurant. Communication with your customers is a vital part of good service (running low on a certain ingredient, listing accurate hours online...) So now we're waiting for our tacos at Super Tacos Moy down the street. I know, first world problems. read more

Pretty cute local Mexican eatery. Great food, staff, and aesthetic. Don't see many people there when I pop in which is kind of a shame because it's really more than meets the eye. Great chips and salsa and the queso sauce is really delicious. Entrees all sound delicious, however I haven't had the chance to try them all yet. Personally though, I recommend the California burrito and I like their combo set-up wherein you can choose the dishes instead of having a set of 3-4 combos with pre-chosen dishes. 5/5 would recommend. read more
