Chocolate cookie

Delicious food, fast service. I had a bowl of chicken dumplings soup. Delicious. Husband had three tacos. The baked goods were enticing. I bought a chocolate cookie from for later.

I met a group of friends for dinner at Lucke's Cantina before a camp out and we had a bit of a…read moremixed experience meal: enjoyable, but left room for improvement. The place is small and pretty divey, but usually that is a sign of some outstanding food. However, this place falls a bit short. As per usual we started with some chips and salsa. The chips were nearly inedible. It's hard to say what went wrong with them but they were hard as a rock and had nary an enjoyable flavor to them. After taking our orders the waitress assured us that a "new batch" of chips was on it's way out... when it arrived they were the exact same as the pervious ones. Their menu is a bit of a mixed bag containing Mexican food (as it should) and a handful of regular (American) bar food. While interesting it actually worked out really well given the numerous kids (ages 6-8) in our group. All the kids ordered bar food and seemed pleased (I tried the hot dog, which was JUMBO, and it was very tasty!). All us adults ordered Mexican and also seemed to enjoy our choices (which was an assortment of items). The food could be a bit more flavorful but I've had MUCH worse Mexican food in my life. This was easily just "so-so". Our waitress was a very nice woman who was great with the kids in our group. She was attentive and friendly and checked in on us multiple times (which is always helpful when children are in the mix). In the end, it was a mediocre meal experience. I wouldn't specifically discourage someone from eating here but I also can't sing it's praises.

The restaurant feels more like a café when you walk in or diner. It was clean. Our waiter who might be the owner, but I'm not sure waiting on us and was very good at his job and very knowledgeable of the menu. We were treated with respect and kept our drinks full. We had the cheese curds as a appetizer and they were not too bad. They were breaded and came with ranch dressing to dip them in. We had buffalo wings, which were obviously frozen out of a bag and a very big disappointment. The meat was very dry and tough. Caesar salad was done good and tasted very good. Had the jalapeño half pound burger and it was cooked medium as I requested. It's a big burger and had good toppings on it. It was very tasty and I have no complaints for that. Their french fries are not traditional and taste like they are coated with something but they were very tasty. They just weren't regular french fries. It's like they have some kind of coating on them. Again they were very tasty and done good. Their fajitas are the star of the show. They come out sizzling and smell and taste amazing. They have a decent kids menu and everything on the kids menu is 6.99. As for the prices, their prices decent. A half pound burger and fry was $11.99. You compare the prices to other restaurants in the area and there in line with the pricing. Saturday night is their prime rib night and at 6:30 when we're about done with our meal, we were the only table in the restaurant. It says one of two things, prime rib is either no good or too expensive? I don't know what the answer is to that question but it was a disappointment not to see the place, at least half full on a Saturday night.
