I was curious to try this place after reading all of the mixed reviews. When you walk in the restaurant is on the left and the bar is on the right. Even though there's a sign that says to order at the bar, the bartender told us we could sit anywhere and there were menus on the table. There's also a big board that explains everything, so apparently they've improved on this since they opened. Our server was really nice and even gave me the lunch special even though it was past lunch time. My daughter had the walking taco which was huge and filling. I had the two taco special with rice, black beans and steak...actually the best steak tacos I've ever had. Really. They were tender and seasoned really well and the tortillas were delicious too. Fresh, soft and warm. The aromas in the place let you know that it should be good. We had two drinks and our bill was around $36. We really enjoyed and would definitely return.

I was hoping this was a good find as it's located in a prime area. We stopped in here and I was disappointed to see staff were sitting at the bar alongside eating their food and going back and forth between eating and serving. The food was decent. There was a smell coming from one side of the restaurant and it definitely tainted the experience.

Stopped by walking through downtown Lake Geneva & had the most amazing service. I can't speak for their food but strawberry margarita was delicious (better than the mango). They have arcade/gaming machines, indoor & outdoor seating. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Our server had long curly hair and had me laughing every time he stopped by. This is a family restaurant and bar.

I tried Guac Star for the first time tonight for dinner. The food was pretty good, I was able to try 2 different quesadillas- the chorizo and the steak. The steak had a nice flavor to it. The decor inside the restaurant was pretty cool too and our waiter was friendly. I only subtract a star because it does seem pretty expensive for what you get - for $15 a quesadilla plate, I was expecting rice and beans as well, but sadly they are not included. Overall, a nice restaurant with good food, but a bit pricey.

Quick taco place. Flavorful. Reaso able prices. Great ambience. Casual. Excellent service.

The food was great & we had the restaurant to ourselves on a Friday night! The owner/manager Kevin was very personable to my folks and made sure that we felt at home and very open. The quality of meat was very good (chicken) I believe the waitress said that it was "farm fresh." I think guac, salsa, and chips for $16 is quite the price to pay. I did the guac and chips, I needed to add some salt to the guac but it was very fresh as well. I thought the finely diced jalapeños on the side added a nice touch to my burrito as well. Customer service by the waiter could be improved upon, involving listening skills...he asked if we wanted a "pitcher" of water (there were 4 of us & we all wanted water) to which I said yes...but instead were brought cups. Side note; I asked for lemon with the water as well, which they only had limes available. This is a cool & casual style Mexican restaurant. Don't expect fancy, but you will leave satisfied and possibly with some good conversation on the side!

Hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to. I got the steak tacos and let me tell you pictures do not do justice. I came here with my bf and our friends and we were in such a bad mood a couple weeks ago because we could not find a place to eat. We sat somewhere previously for 40 minutes and did not get served. The staff was out of this world. Our server Ariana was so nice and and came in to check on us multiple times. One lady was walking around with fun straws and kept filling up our waters. Another guy working there came and brought us hot sauce which was amazing. I truly felt like a princess by all the staff waiting on my friends and I. The hot sauce was so good that my friend and I needed up buying a bottle I got the last one but the guy who was so nice enough to introduce us to the hot sauce let my friend buy the one that was already open. We live in Chicago so it was a treat to take this hot sauce home. The music they had playing was also so good! It was a wide variety of songs. Overall, would come back here again for the great staff, food, ambience and hot sauce!

Great location off Main Street in the heart of Lake Geneva just steps away from the lake. Guar Star was a clever name so the family and I popped in for lunch. The service was great with multiple people checking on you. The restaurant is a little small but cozy. They have a cool vintage video game on the front that my kids loved. The food was good. A little pricey with drinks came to $87 but is to be expected for Lake Geneva. I would recommend.

This is an amazing hot sauce! Just the right heat. House made from scratch with natural ingredients. Couldn't ask for anything better.

We just happened across this jem. Highly recommend the steak tacos with cilantro and onion on corn. Meat is locally sourced from a butcher! Had the steak and the beef tacos and the steak just beat it out. The frozen margaritas are made using wine and are done with perfection. I am coming back and coming back soon. This place should be on Triple D's. Keep up the amazing job, Guac Star. Oh, I almost forgot about the staff. They took their time and made it so easy to find what I was looking for. I'm taking two bottles of this Infierno back home with me.

Taco lunch special. Two tacos with rice and beans. The green sauce is

The most horrible margaritas I've ever had in my life, it's just frozen Kool-Aid with tequila. I am very sad and disappointed.

Food was great but the place is grossly understaffed. Would be an easy 5 star once they get that in order.

Si estás en Lake Geneva y se te antoja comida mexicana sin arruinarte, sin duda te recomiendo venir aquí y descubrir uno de los secretos mejor guardados de la ciudad. i am writing this in spanish and english so whomever reads this will be able to understand my thoughts. This is a small whole in the wall type of spot. It is rather unassuming because of its location and appearance on the outside but it is wonderful inside! This is certainly a family owned and operated type of spot which is always nice to support. There is a spanish grocery right when you walk in then a mexican restaurant in the back. Everything is cooked fresh and is priced very fairly. I got three tacos de carnitas and they were delicious. I took them to go and ate them once I got home. They were still hot and the salsa they gave me to go with the tacos was awesome too I used all of it! I think for three tacos I paid 10 dollars and they were worth every penny. Ambiance: Ambiance and restaurant decor was one of the highlights of the night in my opinion. Lots of neat items and decor - interesting glasses, art, couches/chairs, leather menus, etc. Food: We had the Peruvian chicken wings and the wagyu beef tacos. I thought the Peruvian chicken wing dish was quite good - 9/10. The chicken was very flavorful and the salad was a decent size and tasted good. The wagyu tacos in my opinion was underwhelming for sure. It really tasted like pretty bland meat and the tortilla chips on the side were almost guaranteed straight from a bag (Aldi blue corn tortilla chips if I had to guess ). I wouldn't personally recommend the tacos. If I were to go again, I'd get the chicken wings again, and get the hangover salad instead of the tacos. Drinks: We had the coconut cocktail, the cucumber cocktail, and I had a beer from Nicaragua. All were tasty, albeit definitely lacking punch, i.e. I couldn't actually tell you with a fact if they contained alcohol. The Nicaraguan beer was super light and I liked it. There was a beer from Czechia but it was out of stock.
