And she complained about how people were late and it set her behind, she has a 7-yr-old there she's trying to look after, etc. it just felt unprofessional (and frankly rude given that we were not late. Is she badmouthing us to the next customer?) She encouraged us to buy the Stuv insert (the only one she carries now, she worked at that company for years, she is the sole distributor in VT... we got the whole sell) and when we asked about the federal tax credit she said, "oh, it's more trouble than it's worth, it's hard for an insert to meet the standards, it's only a small tax credit and probably won't put you in a lower bracket..." we later found out the Stuv isn't efficient enough to qualify. And the quote was almost $10,000 with installation. We were rushed through our appointment as she had someone else there next. We felt she was dismissive, talked too much and listened very little, and not forthcoming. We will go elsewhere and hope that she considers the customer a bit more in future. If she hardly has time while making the sale, how can they follow up on service?

Blazing Design has their own installation and service team, and they have a good track record of properly servicing units they sell for their customers. My experience falls in line with what I have heard from others. Installation was prompt. Despite being during a busy season, they were able to schedule me - somewhat on the fringe of their service area, mind you - right after the holidays. They were very communicative about scheduling, and confirmed with me as my appointment approached. Installation was flawless. They took great care making sure that the installation location was precise, and unobtrusive. Phil and Ryan triple checked house plans and reference photos prior to making any holes for venting. Measured thrice, and cut once. Not all went without a hitch. My propane lines were, apparently, not hooked up to my propane tank, which precluded our ability to finish installation on that day. Sueann was quick to schedule a follow-up with me immediately after I had that issue resolved, and they were even able to show up a day earlier, because of an opening in availability while being in the area. I appreciated that immensely. If you're shopping around for a stove, you're probably looking at the same places in this area of the state as I was, and dreading doing business. Some have a history of lawsuits (yes, really), and others have a less than stellar reputation with being helpful to customers. Finding Blazing Design was a huge relief to me. My experience is a masterclass on how to acquire and retain a loyal customer.

We knew we needed to get it checked out but moving to a new area makes is so hard to find reliable companies to do practically anything. I sent out a barrage of emails to a number of companies that served our area and one response jump out. They responded to my inquiry within just a few hours and were able to get me scheduled for a inspection within a few weeks. I'm sure autumn is a very busy time and my guess is they had a tech coming to the area without a full docket for the day. They have a very clear process, prompt communication, and a very professional approach. On the right day I got a call from the tech that he would be on site within 30 minutes, which was well within the expected window. When he arrived we chatted a bit and, once he got suited up, he jumped into the work and wasn't hesitant to get in there, clear the cobwebs, check some items in our basement, etc., Very thorough and he was able to provide me a good status of my chimney, options for the wood burning insert I had asked about, and a clear, documented, process for how I can get there plus what to do to make sure this chimney will last another 150 years. I was impressed. They are a professional organization, serving a very large area, and not the least expensive option. But, that's not to say they wouldn't be the best value. The technician onsite was very knowledgeable but wasn't shy about contacting his team for further input. All signs of a healthy, stable, company. No pressure. No hard sell. No forced timelines. Just great info, patience, and a real dedication to keeping things tidy! Great visit and a company I would use again for sure!

We all slammed on our breaks to a complete stop. Car behind me had to come up on my side to avoid slamming into me. Although we were very pleased with the fireplace product, we were disappointed that our brand new LVT flooring was damaged during the installation process. We were further disappointed in the response of GMFS to our complaint. Despite the flooring being flat and perfect prior to the fireplace installation and no one else being in the condo except for their workers, they claim that the flooring was damaged prior to their arrival. Just an absolute lie, but convenient for them to avoid taking responsibility for the damage. My recommendation: if you have them do work for you be sure to have cameras installed to keep track of their work. Take pictures of everything just prior to the work and check immediately afterwards. Otherwise they will deny that any damage done was due to their work. Sadly we did not do this as this is not a primary residence and we are now paying for that mistake.
