Had a new chimney cap / damper installed replacing the old damper. The fireplace is now unusable due to smoke drafting down the 2nd flue for the furnace/hot water tank. Never had this issue before and I attribute it to the installation where they removed part of the tile for the fireplace flue. They have offered no real solution. The chimney on our 27 year old home needed repair; it was occasionally leaking into the house and I could see with binoculars there was cracking and crumbling between the bricks at a minimum and likely leaky lead flashing as well. I called a few chimney contractors that people suggested, but I rarely got a call back and the two prices I received seemed terribly high to me. Then, having seen Brickliners trucks around town, I called Brickliners and all of a sudden things got easier and better! The ladies in the office were really polite and helpful and we made an appointment for Adam to come take a look. He climbed right up to the chimney, did a thorough examination, took photos, and explained all that needed to be done, along with a preliminary cost estimate. I then received the written estimate promptly by email and signed on the dotted line! I had the work done early in the season, receiving an early season discount. The fellows who came and did the job were very personable, knowledgeable, neat and efficient. The job was done in less than two days and the chimney looks great. I asked them how I could tell they did a great job (it's not like I can walk up to my chimney and check it out!) and they explained they take pictures to show Jake back at the office, so he knows every job is performed to the highest standards. Mike and Ben came by today to check the chimney on our pellet stove. We have had some problems with embers coming out the top of the chimney. The turnaround time for Brickliners was less than a week. They did an excellent job, a wonderfully clean job, professional behavior, courteous and shared full information throughout the job. Brad was great, very thorough and it was obvious from the beginning that he is incredibly knowledgeable. I asked him to come over and give me an estimate for replacing the top chimney blocks outside, and he ended up coming in and teaching me a great deal about my specific stove and the way everything works. Unfortunately, we found some extra, unexpected issues which were more than my wife and I were prepared to take on, but Brad went through everything and explained what he was seeing, why it was important, and what needed to happen to make everything up to snuff. Knowing that we likely would not want to take on the work, Brad still promptly sent over a thorough quote for everything we would need should we want to move forward. We have a 200 year old house with three chimneys. They came in early spring to clean all three and gave an estimate to repair/update all three. They were very honest and fair regarding what repairs were imminent and what could wait as long as we didn't use the chimney. We had them come this fall to do the repairs on the main chimney. They called right back after I left a message, and squeezed us in during an extremely busy time for them. I got a phone call from Justin, who was at the house doing the repairs, who informed me that even though he was there to replace the damper, he was actually able to fix it and saved us $500! I couldn't have been more pleased with their work! When I returned home, the house was clean and I wouldn't have even known they were there. Early winter I had a part replaced by brick liners in my fireplace. 2 months (and $425 dollars) later the piece broke. While there was no warranty on the piece Brad has helped me find an affordable fix and will hopefully not have this issue again. Before we had contracted Brickliners for any work, a memebr of their sales staff reapired our fireplace flue linkage while on a sales call, free of charge! They also lined two of our flues and discovered and fixed a safety issue on our wood stove. The workers were especially considerate not to leave a mess and keep us informed on the progress.
