For me, customer service matters. Lucca's went above and beyond for my family today with their service. I was in the area visiting my mom and grandparents. My grandfather is on hospice and is close to the ends while my mom and grandma have been taking care of him. On Mother's Day, we visited to help and had a pretty rough day. Before we left, we wanted to give my mom and grandma a nice meal for Mother's Day. We called in two ribeyes with potatoes, salad and bread. I did ask if they could take extra care of the order and explained our situation so they knew how important this meal was. Not only was the absolute perfection, they made sure we had extra bread and butter, not just a small piece for them to split. The attention to detail to make sure this important meal was able to transport and still be perfect was something that many restaurants don't do without a request, but you can tell that they give this level of detailed attention to every order. Inside the restaurant, we watched as they took the same level of care with every dish. This level of customer service alone is enough to warrant return business. The quality of the food is an added bonus at that point. 10/10 go here if you are in the area! read more

I thought the odds of having a good Italian dinner (or any good dinner, for that matter) in Shallotte was just about as likely as seeing the Easter Bunny hippity hopping down Main Street. We tried Luca Italian Chophouse for dinner on Good Friday. Our stuffed banana pepper appetizer was excellent, with 3 large and moderately spicy peppers stuffed with sweet Italian sausage, served with a tomato sauce and topped with Ricotta. It was a very tasty appetizer. We split a small pizza for dinner. It was about 10" as specified with a fair amount of crust. The pizza crust was a little yeasty for my taste, but it was very good and I liked the crispy crust bottom. Toppings were generous and were of good quality. It was plenty for two people. Emboldened by the first two courses, we tried the cheesecake with caramel sauce for dessert. It turned out to be a small individual cheesecake about 4" in diameter topped with strawberries and caramel. It was OK but over priced at $14. The crust was too soft and flavorless although the cheesecake itself wasn't bad. The strawberries weren't of the best quality and should have been left off. The restaurant is definitely going for the upscale Italian feel and generally succeeds. Our server was friendly and very helpful, but was exceedingly slow. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised with Luca Italian Chophouse. It's definitely worth a try and we will probably eat there again the next time we're in the area. We started off with scallops and FRITTO MISTO, the scallops and calamari were delicious, cooked perfectly. For the main course, my girlfriend ended up getting the Chilean Seabass and vegetables. She said that it was good. Just had way too many mushrooms in the vegetables. Just start off with the three-star. Reason being, I got the wrong steak at first, which looked perfect, but it wasn't my steak. Then they brought out my ribeye, and it looked well done. I asked for medium, but to my surprise, once I cut it open, it was raw, cold to the touch. I told my waitress, and she said she'd take care of it. So what did they do? They put it back and burned it some more. The outside was so hard and burnt. It was just inedible for them to give me a steak that was burnt on the outside and then try to finish cooking the same steak to make it medium. Just not acceptable. read more

The staff was so great at helping us out with two children, having kids menus set at the table and getting us a high chair. The items are expensive, but the pasta was really 2 servings so it was more understanding. We were celebrating my mothers birthday and they had a card at the table that the staff all signed for her. I've been wanting to come here for a while, as a friend of mine said it's one of her favorite restaurants. Another friend and I had lunch today. I ordered the eggplant lasagna with a Caesar salad and dressing on the side. My friend ordered the ravioli caprese which had a pomodoro sauce; and the Caesar salad. While waiting for our food, we enjoyed the warm fresh baked bread. The salads were very good! Nice, fresh, crisp romaine lettuce and a delicious dressing. As for my entrée, I was very disappointed. The eggplant, sliced extremely thin, was heavily breaded that I couldn't even taste or feel any texture of the eggplant. I called it, "bread-plant lasagna." It had a mushy texture from the breadcrumbs. I couldn't taste any ricotta at all. After just a couple of bites, I gave up. My friends ravioli looked deflated. I've seen many a ravioli that was a lot more plump than these. She did enjoy them. The waitress never came to the table to see if we liked our food or needed anything. When she showed up, I asked for a box, although what was I thinking? I wouldn't eat it at home and I know my husband wouldn't either. The waitress came with a box and I told her I wouldn't take it home. I explained what I didn't like about it and she said, you could have asked for something else. Not easy to do when she never came to the table when we were eating. She was nice to remove the lasagna from my bill and only charged me for the salad. I appreciated that. Oh my gosh, I don't have words. This is the best restaurant that I have been to for steak and pasta. Whoever the Chef is he or she knows what they are doing. Samantha our waiter was so sweet and attentive, even though the Sunday rush was crazy for her. The inside is very quaint, love the music. My husband got the New York strip medium rare with house salad and spaghetti pomadora adding mushrooms, I got the Ribeye medium rare with house salad and spaghetti pomadora adding mushrooms to mine too. The steak has a seasoning on it to die for, the spaghetti is absolutely delicious it has a subtle tomato sauce which I like. We dined here based on another person's review. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and our server. We ordered the scallop appetizer sun-dried tomato pesto special. The scallops were over cooked and the sauce wasn't anything special. I ordered the Shrimp Rustica and it was delicious. It was one of my favorite Italian dishes. The Italian chopped salad was very good and I loved that the dressing was served on the side. The calamari was very good, but the zucchini was mushy and olives were very salty. My friend had the stuffed banana peppers and enjoyed them very much. We should have stopped there, but we both ordered dessert to go. Her cannoli was soggy and only had a small amount of filling on the ends with nothing in the middle. The cheesecake was a very generous portion, but had absolutely no flavor. This is now my favorite restaurant in Shallotte and I don't care for Italian food!!! It's the last type of food I want to eat when asked where I want to go eat (I love Indian, Mexican, Ethiopian, etc.), but this restaurant is phenomenal. We had a reservation for a huge group of 20 for dinner and they made us comfortable and served us quickly with grace and humor. The focaccia is so fresh, tasty and warm. It's great with olive oil and spices which are already on the table when the bread is served. I had the tortellini Michelangelo and shared it with everyone and it was the table favorite entree. Cheese tortellini in an Alfredo cream sauce with bacon, spinach, mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes. It's addictive and I could order it seven days in a row. My uncle had the bone in pork chop which was tender, flavorful and had a rich gravy on it. They do meat right here. My mom ordered a seasonal pumpkin gnocchi which was delightful. Just the right balance of pumpkin flavor. The Chopped Italian Salad is incredible and was also loved by the whole table. It can stand alone as a meal or be substituted in as the side salad. We have definitely found our new go to place in the area! We met my aunt and uncle for dinner, they had been before but we had not. We had a 6pm reservation and we were seated immediately in a nice booth. The ambiance is nice, not too fancy, not too casual. Our server, Naomi (pronounced Now-me...sorry if I got it wrong), came over and gave us our waters, took our drink orders and told us the specials for the day. We each had a Cesar or house salad come with our meal which was nice. They also gave us focaccia bread for the table which was delicious. There was olive oil for dipping as well. Made reservations for the Friday after Thanksgiving. We were seated pretty quickly, but were very crammed into a small area that made it a bit uncomfortable for six adults. The wait time to get someone to come over and get our drinks (or even fill our water glasses) was about ten minutes - which was frustrating. It took them 45 minutes after arrival to finally be served our salads, so we had some "hangry" adults. That being said - our meals were delicious! Two in our party ordered the Shrimp Rustica and loved the flavor! One thought it was a bit too saucy, but all preference. I ordered the Chicken Piccata and thought it was delicious. Although I thought the pasta it was served on was sooo difficult to eat (just very "slippery) - i couldn't even roll it with a spoon. Would have been better w angel hair maybe? Another member of our party ordered the Chicken Parm which they liked - but it had a lot of diced tomatoes in the sauce. Seafood Risotto was delicious! I do not understand the 4star reviews that this restaurant is receiving . My husband and I had dinner there recently and ordered Italian dinner entries off the menu. The chef did probably the worst risotto that we have ever had. Risotto is rice which is stirred in broth until the broth is absorbed and then more broth is added and this is repeated until the rice has absorbed all the broth until it is done. Cream should never be added to risotto. But this was swimming in cream. The ceasar salad dressing never met an anchovy which was unfortunate. They are spending a lot of money renovating the old Chianti South restaurant which served authentic Italian fare for many many years. I hope they have hired a chef to run the kitchen when they reopen Chianti South, that restaurant was always full and offered an elegant authentic Italian meal. I am sure there are many patrons who are looking forward to a return of the Chianti South experience which I am sure we want to welcome back to Little River. There are a number of Italian restaurants in the Myrtle Beach/Little River area which none of them compared to Chianti South but all of which are preparing more authentic Italian food than we had at Lucca Italian Chophouse. March 13, 2026. Me and my wife came to eat dinner. It was around 5-6pm and immediately we noticed the place was packed. The hostess advised us a 40 minute wait which turned out spot on. Staff was pleasant and the place appeared clean and well maintained. The ambience was par for what you'd expect for a slightly more upscale eatery. I went for what I thought would be a for sure comfort food meal ordering the deli Stromboli. Places like this that have such dishes usually have a good crust with hearty ingredients. While mine was good, it was just par. The bread was a lil doughy and the meats were straight up deli sliced meats which might be indicative of its name. I would not order it again simply desiring something better. We ordered the stuffed banana peppers. The pepper could have cooked longer as the flesh of the pepper was still somewhat firm. The stuffing was decent. I believe they used a sweet sausage which I would have preferred a spicier one. Solid 6.5. My wife ordered the filet. It was good. Not great. Definitely have had better but it was well cooked. The seasoning was basic. I'd give it a solid 7. I normally am very critical of restaurants' fettuccine Alfredo but hers was actually pretty impressive. Not oily or greasy. The right consistency. Creamy. The table bread was good. Slightly doughy but had a good outside crisp and they seasoning was good. They gave a lot of it also. I'd recommend them to set out some seasoned olive oil dip or marinade with the bread or maybe something like a homemade garlic butter . So on to the service.... Let me just say they were really busy. I truly believe our waitress forgot about our appetizer as it was just barely warm and it took forever to get to the table. We actually had to ask about it. She did not check on our table that often and on a couple of occasions my class was completely empty. She was very nice. The lack of service that I've described very well could have been due to the level of volume they had in the restaurant. other patrons seem to be enjoying themselves as well as the food. We would definitely try it again just to see if the experience would be better as we expect It might be on maybe a slower night. I would classify it as a nice family or date night spot. 3 stars for now. read more
