My family lives on Sunset Beach and Ocean Island, and when I come down 3x a year, we get together for a group that can be up to 10 for dinner. I have eaten at Roberto's probably three dozen times. This past Friday we did again, with a smaller party of six. The two that had chicken picatta were over the moon. I had a salmon "Mediterranean" that I couldn't tell was salmon. Overcooked with no color to the fish at all. The flavors were great. (I had the same dish at 584 in Burlington three nights later, but it was definitely salmon.) The continuing issue at Roberto's is service. Our server was spread out over both ends of the restaurant, and I think everyone took the hit, including the server. The floor manager needs to rethink the floor plan. Stuff that should be basic (grated cheese for pasta?) was not given until I went to the desk and asked for some. The Bar: a continuing and inexcusable problem. WHY is there a single bartender for both bar and table service? We were asked for our dinner orders while we were waiting for our drinks!, which were ordered when the menus dropped. C'mon! It's supposed to be a flowing process, and this has ALWAYS been a problem. (Waiting for a glass of wine for 10 minutes?). Overall : the Chef (always visible) clearly has enthusiasm for his menu, and it is good! But this restaurant should be better. read more

Just moved to the area and had our first dinner at Roberto's last Saturday evening. It definitely won't be our last! My husband and I split the pork chop based on a recommendation of a local sitting beside us at the bar, and WOW!! Undoubtedly the best pork chop I've ever eaten. Both the taste and texture were unique and just amazing. Definitely more than enough of a portion for two people to split, but you are going to fight over it. The sides were excellent as well. Awesome service from Sarah at the bar, kudos to her for handling drinks for the bar and entire restaurant with smiles and grace. The place was absolutely packed, so definitely recommend making reservations or getting there early for bar seats. read more

Food was good. Had reservations they were one hour later than call time seating then the table was in the bar area and not dining the room. Gave some explanation that they were super busy not valid excuse when we had 4 days in advance reservations. Just poor management. read more

I've eaten at Roberto's several times and the service and food is top notch. But tonight, with a reservation things went wrong from the time we walked in. The hostess said we did not have a reservation as they gave ours to someone else. Then, the waitress took a long time to get our order. It took over 30 minutes to bring wine and an app and over an hour to bring salads. The salad was lackluster - lots of lettuce, a slice of tomato and maybe some bite of cucumber. No bread or check ins. The waitress said they were short staffed. We made a comment about waiting over an hour for the salad and the waitress got huffy and mad. Our entrees were almost $40.00 each so this was not acceptable. We decided to leave and not wait another hour or be treated rudely. It's a shame as Roberto's is usually fine but I'm not in a hurry to return. It really bothers me to give two stars but I'm basing this on service and the time we waited. read more

It's a no for us. Been down here 5 years and never visited Roberto's before but read good reviews. Seated quickly with a reservation and at 6pm the table next us was advised that they were out of the special of evening which was lobster ravioli ...so off to the menu. We ordered the calamari and was so excited that they were presented with tentacles as well as rings. Unfortunately they were so salty that we couldn't finish order. The next hiccup was the dinners were delivered but not at same time. My wife was served a good 4-6 minutes before mine but told her to eat. Her veal marsala was lacking flavor but the veal was good. My shrimp ala vodka was eventually served and I looked and was looking more for a pink sauce like I am used to in vodka sauces. This sauce was some concoction so loaded with parsley and oregano that I decided I would eat a little before boxing and taking it home to have the next day mixed with a jar of Carbones ala vodka just so I wouldn't waste the pasta and shrimp that were plated. The plus is the dinner includes a small salad and pesto oil bread. But with all the other options around for the meals we had we probably won't be returning. But place has been around a long time so I guess it's just personal taste. read more

Visited Roberto's for the first time. Parking lot was crowded as usual. Got a table in the bar area. Waitress was very nice and polite. We got the chicken Marsala and the Salmon Special. Very tasty and dinner included a salad & bread. All Entrees were a bit pricy but what the hell, that is how it is in this area. I will definitely return to try another Italian specialty. Have driven past this restaurant for years and have never given it a try until tonight. Made reservations the day of (highly recommended), so only took about 10 mins to get seated. They had a nice bar off to the lobby that was perfect for having a cocktail before dinner. Service was amazing! I ordered the chicken piccata and it was light and delicious. My friend ordered the shrimp scampi which seemed to be the exact same minus chicken (sub shrimp). Her son ordered the chicken Parm which was a nice portion and delicious! We made reservations in March - can't image what this place is like in the summer, but highly recommend for great Italian and wonderful service! read more

We had an outstanding dinner last night at Roberto's and were wonderfully attended to by Natalie. She is extremely friendly and knows the menu well. The decor is appropriately evocative of an Italian restaurant and the ambiance is both friendly and romantic. Italian is our favorite cuisine and we had one of the best Italian meals we have come across anywhere. I had the Grouper Neptune topped with crab meat and a grilled shrimp served over smashed potatoes and roasted vegetables, my bride had the Chicken Scallopini over vermicelli. Both were perfectly prepared by Chef Dave and came with a very fresh garden salad with homemade dressing and freshly baked bread. The flavors in both dishes were bright and complemented the entrees without overpowering them. The grouper was moist and carefully prepared. The portions are ample. The bar offers a good selection of wines, beers and cocktails. In addition to Italian and seafood, they also serve steaks and chops. We highly recommend Roberto's. read more

The bread and olive oil was good. It went downhill from there. I ordered the grouper Neptune which was supposed to consist of a grouper filet, crabmeat, shrimp and a sauce. I question whether it was really grouper. It had a watery, strange texture, not like a grouper filet. The crabmeat looked as if it were canned and there was one shrimp on top. The sauce was thick and tasteless. For a special dish, it was a huge disappointment and fairly pricey.. They could do so much better, we won't be going back. read more

After years of passing it on vacation, my husband and I finally tried Roberto's this week. First and foremost, the service was excellent - not only by our waitress, but by all employees including the chef who stopped out to say hi and ask how our meal was. My husband is gluten intolerant and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate without us asking anything more than if they had a gluten-free menu. The food was excellent. We had the brussel sprout appetizer with bacon and it was amazing - potentially the spotlight of the whole meal. I had chicken parmesan and my husband had a NY strip. Last day of vacation, son wanted pasta. We decided to give them a try. We called and got a table right away, surprised the place was packed when we arrived, and we were seated immediately. We had a Filet mignon, an Italian Feast and Sweet Chili Thai Salmon. It was all perfectly cooked, large portions, and very tasty. The sides were all delicious. The pre meal bread was wonderful. Our server, Christian was very attentive but not overbearing, he took great care of us even through the restaurant was packed with a lot of people waiting to be seated. Wow! We had a great meal tonight at Roberto's. It was our first time dining there, but we will be back. I had the Shrimp and Scallop Tuscany and it was just loaded with seafood and tasty sauce! My husband had the spaghetti and meatball (a BIG meatball), and he loved it. The server was pleasant and helpful. It was a cool, dark atmosphere in the bar area - clean and well maintained. Recently moved here and came across Roberto's restaurant, my hubby and I love us some good Italian food. Since the moment we enter the restaurant we were greedy super professional didn't have reservations but we were seated in 10 minutes and the ambience was so elegant. We have an amazing waitress on both occasion we have visit. The food was beyond amazing and delicious. I totally recommend the veal piccata and the chicken Parmesan, next time I need to try something different every time I go is the veal piccata i choose all the time. For dessert don't leave without trying the creme brûlée is sooo delicious. Also, I love how the chef comes by to assure you are enjoying. The food here was fabulous. Our server was great but the one that came over to talk to my wife named Bailey didn't quite understand how to address us. She asked where we were from and told her South Carolina. She pressed the issue telling us that since my wife's first language wasn't English where was she from originally. I told her point blank that English was my third language and hoped she would drop it. I understand that she was excited to find an Asian but my wife speaks Cantonese not Mandarin. I was thinking (Please go away) when our actual server arrived and shoed her off. By the way there are 43 different dialects of Chinese. My wife can speak three, just not the one she was looking for. Wow!!! We were on our way to ocean isle to eat and passed Roberto's, so we decided to try it out. Boy are we glad we did. Waitress was very attentive. The food was out of this world! We had the crab dip as an appetizer and pasta jambalaya as the entree. Incredibly flavorful and filling. Will be back our next trip. read more

In from out of town to do a half marathon. Came here to carb up and we weren't disappointed. Given the fact that we were here for the "off" season and there were a lot of other people here for the race (probably doing the same thing we were), it was busy, but we were able to make a reservation. You could tell the staff was probably not ready for "race weekend" but they seemed to handle it well. Our server was nice and personable and we had a good experience overall. The Chicken Alla Vodka was pretty tasty and our server Alexis did comment that the vodka sauce here was great. The bread came with olive oil with a splash of balsamic, there was definitely some garlic and another herb in there... so that was unique. The entrees came with salads... typical Caesar salad is what I chose...it wasn't over/under dressed... halfway through the salad, we all thought about the recent ecoli romaine lettuce scare, but I think we were in the green (pun intended). The restaurant itself is a standalone building and has a strange parking lot. I say "strange" because all the spaces are angled toward the "in" direction.... so there's not really a good flow for traffic. I guess it is the beach, so just take it easy and don't really stress about the parking lot... I did for a hot second. If there was a way to get out from the back of the lot... I did not see one... there's nothing better than playing chicken with people coming into the restaurant...but at least you will go on a full stomach... J/K. Inside has a homey feel to it... and the smells of the food in the kitchen really fill the space. Definitely a favorite local spot and I would come back to try their other menu options. read more

Went there with my mom and we both had great seafood dishes. I had a perfectly cooked piece of salmon with smashed Potatoes and grilled veggies. I was impressed with my meal. I enjoyed it all. Mom's Di Mía Seafood pasta was to die for, so much seafood in the dish and a killer sauce. That only thing that was just ok was the bread, ok but I could tell it wasn't made in-house. Great strong drinks! Loved the atmosphere and the staff was super helpful. As a party of Three, everyone enjoyed their meal except me. My only complaint was my steak bites came overdone and the menu states they only cook them med-well to well. That made them chewy and tough. Had a wonderful dinner here Saturday evening. Reservation was good to have if you want a booth to sit in! The veal parmigiana was exceptional and the pork chop melted in your mouth it was so tender and seasoned perfectly. Dave waited on us and couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful with questions pertaining to the menu!. Bella was hosting this evening and cheerful and was able to keep the surprise that our daughter was picking up the tab to celebrate my birthday!
