Both my husband & I ordered the bolognese which had been delicious & authentic at a previous visit. This time it was a poor version of meat sauce & not a good one at that. One of best Italian Restaurants we have been to. The service was excellent. They were all courteous and very attentive during the entire dinner. We had pleasant interactions with Collin, Matt and the lovely lady in the pretty dress in the front of the restaurant. They made us feel right at home. Quaint old world Italian feel..perfect atmosphere. Food was excellent from salad course to dessert. Chicken alfredo and stuffed shells with two large meatballs. It was enough for two meals for each of us. The carrot cake was amazing as well as the caramel dripped cheesecake. Prices were very reasonable considering you get a salad with you entree. I said I would give this place another try and I am so thankful I did. (And no, the Italian Squad did not come and get me from my last review) We went on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm and the place was hopping. The ambiance is beautiful, as if you are stepping into a dining room in Napoli. It does not seem like it would be this nice from the parking lot and front facade off 41. We had a large round table for 6 that was set beautifully. We were greeted at the entrance by a hostess. The specials were listed on an Italian Blackboard next to the bar. They only serve wine and beer. The ambiance was lively and all of the patrons and staff were smiling. Good sign! We ordered our drinks and appetizers and meals. The house Merlot was very smooth. When our meals came they were piping hot and delicious. My Filet Mignon was flavorful and like "butta". The green beans were crisp and flavorful. The grouper was amazing and fresh, fresh, fresh. My husband loved his eggplant parmesan. The linguini with clam sauce was "one of the best I've had" as a friend said. And every one of us loved the meatballs. The cheesecake is decadent. We had it with all 3 sauces.... caramel, chocolate and strawberry.... I know, we are so bad. The cappuccino was the way it should be hot and steamy. All 6 of us said that we had a terrific evening of great food, excellent service and beautiful ambiance and laughter. In addition, our bill for myself and my husband including wine and dessert was less than $60....Love it. We will be back. Note: I am giving only 4 stars because they do not have a full bar.... My wife and I had dinner here Thursday and being our first time we did not know what to order. But since it is Italian we had to go there. I had the Veal Positano, excellent. My wife had the mixed seafood (Fruitti de Mare) sauteed in a nice lemon wine sauce over linguine. It was excellent. I finished the leftovers two days later for lunch and I thought it tasted better than the first night. Yes I had some that night too. Very generous portion. I had soup and my wife had a salad which were great included in the meal. Then we finished off with a nice dessert. Our only disappointment was it was beer and wine only. We will definitely return to try other Italian items we saw on the menu plus the steaks and daily catch which sounded awesome. Ate there a few nights ago from made reservations for 6. Table was roomy and service spot on. All the staff is pleasant and festive for the season rooms were well decorated. I ordered pasta with sausage my wife chicken parmigiana. Food was good but I received smallish amount of pasta and 1 small piece of sausage my wife smallish amount of pasta and only 1/2 of chicken breast. We kinda feel like it should have been more for what we paid. We didn't complain as on a whole dinner was fine. I would just suggest that you serve the whole breast for $22.00 and add another piece of sausage for $15.00. read more

We have a couple we dine with when we can now with covid. Once again we decided on Lucarelli's restaurant in Venice Florida. It is a beautifully decorated family owned restaurant that was reconfigured to be covid compliant. They do take reservations and are open for dinner. I highly recommend reservations. All the employees were wearing a mask. They are always very professional and attentive. Both couples ordered the 2 for $ 40 meals that included choice of past dish, salad, bread butter a bottle of red or white wine and a cannelloni for dessert. The special menu also had 2/$60 2/$80 and 2/$125 or you can order from the main menu. But we all recommend their specials because they really are Special! The manager came by asking how everything was. She always so nice and attentive to the customers. After she asked how the meals were, she saw my water was empty and she asked one of the wait staff to please refill our waters. This family are true hospitality people that are a credit to the industry. We will definitely dine there again it is one of our favorites in Venice read more

We enjoy the lasagna and meatballs. This was the most amazing lasagna I'd ever had. We did the dinner for 2. Everything was delicious. The carrot cake was delicious. There was so much we had to take it home for a second meal. The restaurant was very nice. The seating was great. I've been here about 5 years. I always wanted to try Lucarelli's. It was time. We did not have a reservation (on a Thursday night), but there was room at the small bar. I asked the bartender to help me choose between the "Sunday Everyday" and the lasagna. He said to try the Sunday dish and to add the bolognese sauce for a $3 up charge. The first sign of trouble was that dinner appeared in about three minutes. That means everything was pre-cooked. I pictured the sauce bubbling on the stove, the meatball and the sausage being taken out of the warmer (oven?), and the pasta being cooked. The rigatoni literally fell into pieces when I used my fork to pick it up. The sauce was the biggest disappointment. It should be a deep, dark red and flavorful. This color was like a "tomato sauce just out of the can" red. After a few bites, I concentrated on the sausage and the meatball. Both were ok, but quite bland. I left the pasta behind. Probably the best part of the meal was the grilled piece of bread. When I pay $25 for a bowl of pasta, plus a $3 up charge for extra sauce, I expect it to be a delicious experience. The staff was good, but less attentive than I would expect in a restaurant with this reputation. At least now I know and won't need to return. A big disappointment. read more

Next night I heated the leftovers and I cannot tell you how amazing it was reheated!! Excellent Italian restaurant. If you're in the area, definitely worth checking out. Service, atmosphere and food is on point. For our appetizer we had some of the best calamari I've ever had in my life, super tender and not rubbery at all. Our entrees included the spaghetti puttanesca paired with a Key West ale and the shrimp scampi paired with a really nice sauvignon blanc. Both were delicious and would recommend. Dessert consisted of the tiramisu and limoncello cake. Again, really good Sidenote: House salad passed the litmus test of validating that the rest of the food to come would be good. Calamari was crisp yet tender with two choices of sauces. Thai chili and marinara. The bruschetta was fantastic topped with a Hearty portion of goat cheese. New on their menu is a family style antipasto. Just do it. I could have that for lunch daily. My entree was Shrimp Scampi Pasta. Oh my goodness. My husband and I received a gift card for his birthday. I emailed the restaurant ahead and Pam brought us each a cannoli and a card for my husband AND sang Happy Birthday! I had the seafood pasta and he had the shrimp scampi. Our meal was amazing, start to finish! I found out Bob, the owner, is the chef! Kudos to him!! Our waiter was very nice and on top of things. We had a wonderful dinner here last Friday eve. The service is outstanding and kitchen accommodating to change things. I had the shrimp and scallop special which was supposed to be served over yellow rice. I wanted to have it over angel hair pasta which was no problem. Came with a generous amount of shrimp and scallops to dip in the drawn butter, and delicious vegetables. A very large portion. My husband had the bone in veal chop cooked to perfection at medium. The flavor was outstanding with a good char on it. The mashed potatoes were homemade and deliciously creamy. All meals come with a Caesar salad for two dollars more or a regular salad or soup included. I had the Cesar which was fresh and crisp. We can't wait to come back next year. It's in a very small strip mall and you would think it was not very good by the location which is referenced in other reviews. The food was actually very good and the people at the tables next to us were very nice and sociable. The biggest issue was we had called an Uber to take us home and we had to wait for 30 minutes for the ride. The bartender would not serve us any drinks because the restaurant was closed at 9:30 and he said he was not allowed to serve us after closing. But while we waited every worker and friends of the workers (driving them home) in the place was served wine and beer while we were refused as we sat at the bar. The workers eventually went to the kitchen to drink (out of our presence) and would only come out of the kitchen for more drinks only to return to the kitchen to have their drinks while we were not allowed to be served. It was really the most ridiculous thing I ever saw in my life and I will never go back there. I cannot explain how uncomfortable it made us feel while people poured drinks for the workers but told us they couldn't serve us. I am grateful they did not tell us to wait outside. read more

Walter was singing for a private party at DeFinas last Sun. I got the grouper with crisp veggies and mashed garlic potatoes and almost had a foodgasm, LOL You have to try DeFinas. It's on Tamiami Trail Next to Hungry Howie's and Fan City. Walter had Veal Marsala, we always feed each other and let the other taste the food and the veal marsala was simply divine. Very nice romantic intimate ambiance, (this IS THE place to take your lady for a romantic dinner) live music and "extremely" friendly & attentive staff. Really worth visiting :) But the grouper ooooooh, the grouper, buttery, melt in your mouth, light, flaky, fresh grouper, yummm lol P.S.The attire should be elegant, not casual, as many have said, this is an elegant restaurant, not Mc Donalds. The best Italian in Venice! Lucarelli's is a total hole in the wall type of place. From the outside it looks like a place stuck in a strip mall, but the inside reminds me and my family of a restaurant in the North End (for all you Bostonians!).
