It wasn't. They were packed, the roast was "null". Never a roast so small in my life. Cabbage is always good, and sweet potatoes. The roll was stale or overcooked a bit too long. Have not eaten in a Luby's Cafeteria in years but we heard the one near our home was really good. It was really really good food. The line was fairly long, but it was Sunday lunchtime. My husband and I both had the chicken fried steak with cream gravy, huge portion, so tender, not chewy. Mashed potatoes were real, some lumps with cream gravy. Husband had black eyed peas ( creamy and soft), I had broccoli casserole, creamy with cheese. Both had a roll. Not as good as I remembered. I had coconut pie, so delicious, not too sweet. Husband had strawberry shortcake. He said it was a little different from ages ago, but it was delicious. Folks going around asking if you needed anything were very helpful. It was clean and inviting. Memories. When I think about the "yesterdays" at Luby's I have fond memories of a few dishes. Today, it was like running into an old friend where things just aren't the same. I ordered some of my old faithfuls, but what I ate is not what I remember at all. The food was more bland and was of mixed temperatures. I wasn't going to write this review initially because we love Luby's. However, after ordering delivery from this Luby's and receiving such a disappointing presentation. I felt people needed to know about our experience at this location. My wife and I ordered delivery through Uber Eats. When we got the order, it was disappointing from the beginning. My wife ordered the half chicken, and I ordered the chicken fried steak. Instead of receiving a real half chicken. My wife received two breasts and wings. My food was cold, not even lukewarm. We were located not far from the restaurant. We were able to track the Uber Eats driver. He picked up the food and came to us immediately. So I blame the restaurant for the food not bring hot. We called and spoke to the manager, Jesse Jones. He was very nonchalant about our complaint and disappointment. He even confessed he made the decision about including the two breasts and wings without consulting with the customer. In my opinion he should have just canceled the order. If they couldn't deliver what the customer wanted. That is unacceptable and poor customerservice! My wife is not even a white meat fan. We explained to the manager that we weren't calling to receive special treatment or anything but for Lubys to do better. However, I think our concerns fell on deaf ears. My advice is not to order from Lubys via delivery. They are not concerned with the quality of food you receive. read more

How do you have cooked bugs in food! I called and told them to take the cabbage off immediately because there was a bug in my food. I purchased at 2:33, got back to the salon at 2:47, called at 2:55pm. The guy on the other end said okay and hung up! That's it? No offer to fix the situation? Ok, bet. I call back and tell them I'm on my way! I arrived at 3:01! The Manager on Duty, Jorge I believe seemed to not care at all. He ask for my receipt and gives me back the cost of my plate, which my receipt was $20.20 and I brought it all back, drink too. I'm not eating shit else from y'all and wanna throw up what I did eat. Hell I could have eaten a bug already. I tell him I want a full refund, he says okay and walks off, no apology. He didn't even open the box to look at the damn food. Not sure why this location has so many low rated reviews. I have been eating at Luby's for about 30 years. I'm 35 and since I was 5 my go meal has been the fried fish with double Mac n cheese lol and if really wanna eat unhealthy the pecan pie! The food is good old fashioned good home cooking. Today was the first time I have visited this location and they were 100% consisted and good. I had no issues. Nice location. Pretty big. Great place to take your grandma or you old aunt sue lol trust me they will enjoy it. The desserts are good. The main dishes are good. The sides are good. I've never had a bad meal at Luby's. Give them a shot. I definitely think they have been rated unfairly. Everyone was super friendly, the food was good. They cater to an older crowd - the food is fantastic, but you're going to need to season it a bit more to really enjoy it. Menu is old school favorites and while the fish seems to be the most popular with my crew, I love the casserole and beef dishes- especially the chopped steak with onions. There truly is something for everyone here. The desserts look delicious but I never get them because I always end up ordering too many other things and won't have room for it! I haven't been to Luby's in years but I always loved it until today. First there were no unpackaged salads except the cucumber salad so I got that. It was horrible. The cucumbers were sliced 1/2 inch pieces which is too thick. There was no dressing but I expected at least vinegar but there was none. It was thick, sliced cucumbers, a few cherry tomatoes, one piece of red onion and that was it. It was not edible. The chicken was acceptable as were the mashed potatoes and fried okra, and roll. I added an iced tea and it totaled up to $15. That was too high for a senior meal with salad and tea that was mediocre. The choices of the sides and salads were limited. The servers were polite and friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the food was hot. It was not a place that I would return to. There are so many better places to eat. read more

It's been many years since I've been to a Luby's but it just sounded like the lunch I needed in a cooler day. I'm 55 now so it seems like a right of passage...though save for one child I'm pretty sure I was the youngest guest in the place. It was 2pm so pretty slow...no line. First thing I noticed was everything looked and smelled so good. Even after the lunch rush all the items were fully stocked. I had a side salad, the fried fish, corn and black eyed peas. WOW! I can't remember Luby's being this good! Everything was perfectly cooked. Great portions...brought half home.
