We own here and love it. We don't rent it out when we are not here. Lately my daughter has been living here. The property is well maintained. There are four buildings three stories high. It's not too big of a complex so it feels homey. We only have a one bedroom one bath condo. We love it here so much, we are hoping to get a two bedroom here. I know a few owners that own two units. The condos are oceanfront with tennis and pickleball courts right there. The pool, hot tub and bbq area is very nice.

Beautiful condo rented through VRBO. Nice quick walk across open grassy field to the beach. Kinda rocky shore, calm waves, lots of whale spotting. Pool area has nice 5 or so gas grills available for use and a kitchen area with sink and refrigerator. Bathrooms available at the pool as well. Pool is small, but cute and has turtles and other sea life painted on the bottom. Pool water is cold, but there is a hot tub! Jets would not work by just pressing the button, but the emergency reset switch did the trick. There was a dry sauna as well, but I couldn't get it to heat up. Condo is close to grocery stores and lots of local places to eat.

Relaxing on the lanai-- listening to all of the beautiful birds every morning!

We enjoyed our 9 day stay at Luana Kai Resort! They gave us little postcards and even mailed them for me. Bring your own stamps. The condo was stocked with the essentials for cooking! People had left spices etc. they only give you 2 rolls of toilet paper and then you have to purchase your own for the rest of your stay. It was nice having the beach towels available for use. But bring your own laundry detergent to wash them for use again. The grounds were beautifully kept!! Birds singing each morning and they light tiki torches each night. It gave such a Hawaiian vacay vibe. The pool area was enjoyable with the hot tub and kitchen grill areas. We cooked out there most nights. It was nice using the oven outside so we didn't hear up the condo. There is a tennis/pickle ball court available for public use. Bring your own gear if you would like to play! The ocean is a short walk across the field, we enjoyed sitting out there every morning and evening. Walking along we saw so many sea turtles! Bring water shoes if you would like to walk out on the reefs. Such a lovely, relaxing stay!! Conveniently by the ocean! A much better experience than a hotel.

Our first time in Maui and we are so glad we stayed in Kihei. Our condo here was beautiful with a spectacular view of the beach and mountains. The pool felt heated and the condo and building were very well maintained and clean. Our condo was centrally located so it made it much easier to get to all the main attractions. My family really enjoyed our stay.

Maui adventures! Yay! The Luana Kai vacation condominiums are a respite from the hustle and bustle from the resorts in Wailea and Lahaina. Situated in the heart of Kihei, one can find comfortable accommodations and simple living here while on vacation in south Maui. It was a treat to stay here on a recent weekend with a bunch of friends, whom all were running the 2014 Maui marathon. The experience here was that of comfort and semi private ambiance, but having that hotel feel to it. I enjoyed my time here and can't wait till the next time. The Luana Kai vacation condominiums is located at 945 South Kihei Road, near the Azeka Shopping Center in Kihei. My friends and I occupied B-207 and it was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo unit, with a complete kitchen and 2 televisions. It was a cozy little unit, which has limited private parking, but still felt like a private residence. Along with a pool on property, this ocean front property along the south Maui coastline is one of the vacation rental properties to consider when planning a vacation here to Maui. With that said, the room rates can carry from $199/night to $249/night, depending on when you are coming. Still, it's pretty good living and the comfort is above average for sure. The unit itself was very much clean, immaculate, and spectacular. Along with the televisions, came with a sofa to recline and relax, if sightseeing just tires you out. The only real issue with staying at the Luana Kai is that you have to be careful not to drive past the property, since it is easy to. Very close to the shopping centers in Kihei, the Luana Kai vacation rentals can be your staging grounds for a great Maui adventure. The grounds are well maintained and felt safe. There wasn't air conditioning in the unit, but I guess someone didn't bother to turn it on during our stay, but that didn't matter that much. We were in Maui and that's all that counts. Support local! B+

Absolutely perfect!!! Such a welcoming vibe. Highly recommend. We stayed in room B209, which is a one bedroom condo on the second floor. Here are some perks: - full kitchen with all supplies - spacious - on-site washer and dryer - balcony with a view of the pool and ocean - a minute walk from the beach - beach is NOT CROWDED! Feels like a private beach - shops are a mile walk away - pool access with grill, sauna, shower, restrooms, vending machine, and fridge - friendly, attentive, and accommodating staff - owner has a Maui travel book for use during the stay, which was so helpful especially when going to the Road to Hana because there is no cell service there. Owner also left a booklet with their top to-go places on the island. So helpful!!! Tips: - Closest place to rent a car is Avis on 1455 South Kihei Road. It's like 1.5 miles away from the hotel - you don't need AC. This room specifically does not come with AC (it is equipped with fans). Other units do have them and there is an additional $25/day cost for them.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the resort while in Kihei and really enjoyed ourselves. Here are the main things I want to note: Condo quality: 4 stars Loved our condo!! All of the appliances were upgraded and really nice. The layout was awesome and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. The only downside was the ant problem.... There was a bunch of little ants that would come swarm whatever food or snack or drop of anything with sugar in it. Tons of little ones. It was pretty annoying at first until we got our little system down. However, I have heard this is a problem pretty much everywhere you go in maui.. Fellow resort guests: 4 stars While we were staying there I would say the average age of other guests staying there was around 50 or 60. Just an FYI. There wasn't really anyone else our age staying there. However- the people were SO nice. I sprained my ankle on my last day and everyone was helping me. It was so refreshing to meet such genuinely nice and caring people! :) Resort amenities: 4 stars They have tennis courts, a small pool, hot tub, and big field if you want to bring your dog or throw a football around, etc. The beach is pretty small... We actually never ended up even walking out to it. We honestly just spent every day of our trip at our friend's hotel (Fairmont). The only day we spent at ours was the day I sprained my ankle because well, we pretty much had to. We just craved more than what was at our resort. It was very basic. Overall, we had a really nice stay. It was a nice homey feeling staying in our condo at this resort. It's an entirely different feeling than staying at a hotel. It's a home away from home. However, if I was to go back right now... I would probably stay at a hotel- but that's not to say I wouldn't stay at this resort again because I definitely would! :)

Great location right on S Kihei road so there is a Safeway, Longs drugs and countless restaurants, nail salons and more, close by. Many VBROs. Some more updated than others. All seemingly have great porch space. We went during the holiday season and with the number of condos that are there, it really never gets too busy. At some points the pool area was full, but I was always able to find at least one lounge chair. Seems like a great place for little kids and family or a group of friends. Huge amount of grass for running around, throwing a frisbee, kicking a soccer ball or just walking down to the beach. There are 5 bbqs and an oven outside, in addition to a fridge and freezer. Amazing view!! The main reasons I didn't give it a 5 are because (1) at least for the unit we stayed at, it needed updating, (2) Internet was a pain and went on and off, and (3) it's hard to give a place a 5 when you've seen other hotels and whatnot in Hawaii.

    Laura C.

Loved everything about this condo. It was super clean, and very comfy! The view was spectacular and breathtaking. In the morning, I would take a walk to the beach and just listen to the waves. So relaxing. The staff were very helpful in anything we needed. Thank you Luana Kai and staff. Will be going back again.

Would I recommend the Koa Resort on Maui? Nope!…read more Here's why. Stayed at the Koa Resort, unit 4G, 3bedroom, 2 bath condo costing ~$721/night for 7 days. The facilities are generally nice and well kept, the location is good for exploring Maui. Our unit though had its problems. The central AC was on the fritz and was in repair transition when we arrived, no notice. Each bedroom had a portable AC unit in it that took up room and was noisy. The resort staff wanted us to let workmen into the condo to do final repairs during our stay. Some of us were quite tired from fatigue from running a marathon the previous day and erratic sleep because of our second big problem. There was a rat in the condo! First signs were evidence of fruit on the counters being chewed and rat turds. Two of our group had seen the rat scurry by out of the corner of their eye, and one had felt it climb over them in the night. We called the resort staff and they sent over a guy who brought over 3 bait traps, 2 for mice (?) and one rat sized. We thought the rat was home basing in one of the owner's closets. So, put the rat trap in that closet and stuffed a towel under the door to trap him inside, if indeed it was in there. We packed most of our food in the refer and cabinets, but unfortunately an avocado was left out one night and was chewed on. Great! In the night, my son heard it digging out the carpet so it could get under his door and into his room. Then felt it crawl over him to get to the window. He waited patiently and actually got a photo of it. Yep, a good size rat. We asked for spring traps and we bought some peanut butter for bait. Mind you the staff never called to see if the bait traps had worked, no follow up. How common is this? Once we had the spring traps, 2 mouse sized and 1 rat sized. Why the mouse traps? We know what a rat is. Baited the rat trap in the afternoon with peanut butter and set it by the stove. Five of us were milling around the condo but not in the kitchen when 10 minutes after setting it, we heard the trap snap. We looked and there the little darling was in the trap, broad daylight. We got it! Should I send them an invoice for de-ratting their condo? We did not get any compensation by the resort for the rat or AC problems, though I did ask for a 10% discount. No such luck. Me thinks this is a common problem there. So, would I recommend the Koa Resort on Maui? Nope!

The photos of this rental did not represent the actual space! Over priced, out dated and unclean! Living room : Had to wash comforter from the second bedroom ( we didn't plan on using ) to cover the very worn sofa, just to relax! One of the two sitting chairs had ice cream or candy stains on the seat ! Kitchen: Was over stocked with unusable cookware- warped frying pans and no baking dishes! Sand flys invaded the counter probably due to the garbage disposal over due for service and the many cockroach traps screamed unwelcome guests would at some point appear! Washrooms : The bathtub was filty dirty and stained, I wouldn't wash my dog in it ! The cabinets were all worn and partial board, totally disgusting!I had to wash the standup shower, sinks and floors before even using! Not to mention the ratty worn out towels that were left to use were awful! Not a hand soap bar to be seen! Only 3 same sample bottle of shampoo, conditioner and body wash was complimentary! The Lanai.. Table and chair set was wobbly, totally garage ! And the not so cute birds that made a nest in the exterior light ( that did NOT work) which my husband had to remove because the property management group did nothing about that after contacting them! We did want to use the lanai to enjoy the beautiful sunsets due to bird poop being present ! so unsanitary! We were expecting a small refund but never did receive a dollar! Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere! So disappointing being our first trip to Maui on our 10th year Anniversary to have it tarnished by money hungry over represented property owners with matching management group! Shame on you all ! We booked through VRBO and stayed 5 nights in unit 311 which has a great ocean view and the sunsets from the lanai are like no other. You might even see some honu (sea turtles) poke their heads up or flick a flipper just beyond the rocks. Most mornings, the local canoe clubs head out early and make a stop in this cove for their morning rituals. Like many condo buildings in Kihei, it is dated, but with good upkeep and maintenance. There are many pluses and some minuses, but again the view is the best. + Location: 20 min drive from Kahului airport and steps from the ocean. + Free parking: If there isn't a hang tag pass in your unit, request one at the lobby office that's open 9am-2pm. + Beach: Family friendly and easily accessible. Most of the lagoon is knee deep and you can wade up to waist deep all the way out to the rock sea wall. If you want waves, go past the rock wall to the other side of the beach. The sun peeks over the building mid-morning. + Pool: Very clean and well maintained. Saw the pool guy every morning skimming debris. 3-6 ft deep. Shower before swimming, Use the pool code to enter and exit. Open 8:30am-8:30pm + BBQ Grills: 3 gas grills by the entrance to the beach for residents use with 2 picnic tables. Saw the staff cleaning them every morning. Look in your unit's kitchen for BBQ tools. + Rooftop access: Another 4 gas grills up top with plenty of tables. Great for stargazing on clear nights. Open 7:30am- 9pm. + Monsoon Bar & Grill: Indian Restaurant right downstairs in the lobby with ocean views. Get the Mango Lassi, Garlic Naan, Samosas and Chicken Tandoori + Sunsets: Awesome Unit #311 + Keyless entry. Just remember your code. + Retrofit split AC unit, but only in the living room. Ceiling fans in LR & BR. + Spectrum Cable TV and WiFi. Password is on the TV. + Samsung 40" Smart HDTV in living room with Netflix login. Wall mounted 32" RCA TV in bedroom, but only has Roku you have to log in your own service. + Full Kitchen w/ microwave, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, electric stove, drip coffee maker & pop-up toaster + Clothes Washer & Dryer + Lanai with ocean view. Great to have breakfast and to watch the sunset in the afternoon - Dated furnishings - Shag carpeting from the 80's I haven't seen since college - Needs some new kitchen utensils - Beach chairs, umbrella & boogie boards have seen better days, but are free to use - AC compressor is out in the lanai, so blows hot air when on if you're sitting outside

The carpet needs a full shampoo as do all the furniture seat cushions. Both sides. All chairs. The oven doesn't work but the burners do, they just don't sit flat but do smoke when turned on. I needed to bake a dinner , so big problem. So begins the problem. That alone is a deal breaker. Photo for bedroom not current. Bed rearranged to lean against on wall for support. The bedroom is now set up so you can only get in on one side. One corner leg is broken off the frame. The bedroom tv now faces the formica sink with the big cigarette burn. So not usable to watch. The cubboards and closets are full of old left behind gear, umbrellas, toys and water bottles. The other closet door is on a slide and stuck. Full of extra wall pictures , a fan, a Lamp and a ladder. The very dated bamboo tables under glass tops look like they never have been wiped down. So a layer of dirt on your finger is the test. Only One smoke alarm and no posted taxation certificate so it may not have a STR certificate at all. The answer, move. After a couple phone calls and texts we agreed to pay for the first night. We had no choice. So a 210.00 night with fees for accidental damage , cleaning, air bnb fee, taxes to county, it turned into a 750.00 one night stay. That charge is for a perfect apartment and 1/2 the kitchen was unusable and the refrigerator ran all night. So, very far from what was charged. An Expensive lesson but no way to know till you arrive. My other nine days were refunded with an apology. Because they had no alternate stay to offer and the condition and unusable oven. Fully stocked and beautifully decorated with all the amenities of home. I would receive emails with the current events and places of interest while I was there. But what put everything over the top is their care and compassion about my Mom when she became ill and our safety during Hurricane Lane. A team came over to help us secure the condo to protect us and the property for the potentially dangerous wind and rain. I had expressed how the flash light batteries were dead and with in 2 hours Peter came by with a working flash light. We had to check out the day the hurricane was supposed to hit and we were concerned we would not be able to fly out due to cancellations of flights. TO make things even more difficult, my 76 year old mother had become very ill and we didn't want to keep her at the airport for hours waiting for a flight. I contacted Viktoria and she promptly returned my call and shared concern for my Mom's well being. Viktoria found another unit for us to stay in until we were able to fly home so that my mom was able to rest comfortably. We were unable to stay in our original unit as another guest had made reservations the day we checked out. The second unit, Kihei Akahi, was also beautiful and was extremely comfortable. Paige and Samantha were constantly checking in on us and making sure everything was ok. I also wanted to mention the regular emails I received updating us on the hurricane situation and what to do, what to take and where to go just in case we were evacuated. Fortunately we were able to get our flight out before any cancellations. We may have only stayed in the other condo for 7 hours, but my mom was able to rest comfortable before taking that long flight home. I just want to say very much Mahalo to the entire team at Sunny Maui Vacations. You all are truly wonderful people who go above and beyond for your guests. Aloha and Mahalo

If you're looking for an upscale stay on Maui look elsewhere. I say this only to set expectations…read more Worldmark Kihei, with its uber-close walk to a nice beach, has everything you need for your Hawaiian vacation but some folks prefer something more upscale. There were 4 of us on this Hawaiian visit and unusual to me was a decision to cook most meals in the Kihei condo as well as pack lunches in advance to prepare for our days at the beach. For this, the condo was perfect. There are pots and pans, cups and plates, utensils and seasonings. Don't see what you need? Call the front desk and it'll be delivered to you promptly. I was on the 4th floor in a condo with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and even a Murphy bed in the common space. There was an ample seating area to eat in, space to relax, and a balcony outfitted with table and chairs and a slice of sunset view. Parking (included) was always available in the lot just below where I stayed. There's a pool, kid's pool, and hot tub on-site and they're ample but not if you've grown accustomed to any offered by the major resorts. These are outside in an enclosed area with no views and no charm. I did use the hot tub and appreciated the temperature and its' ample size. My favorite unexpected thing about staying here is that people leave things behind when they depart for home. In the "clubhouse" there was a makeshift wall where people had left beach chairs, boogie boards, noodles, and more. Outside, on any random morning, you might find that departing guests have left a stash of groceries they couldn't take with them: loaves of bread, boxes of crackers, frozen waffles, and hunks of cheese. So even though you've made the obligatory Hawaii Costco run when staying in a condo, you might not find much need to go a second time. Across the street is an ABC Store and a snorkel rental spot and the market is a not too distant drive from here. Worldmark Kihei was a good home base from which to explore the western shore of the island and though the drive to some of the island's best beach destinations was over 35 minutes away, there were plenty of less notorious beaches to enjoy in this area for a shorter daily drive. Bottom line? Worldmark Kihei was a perfectly fine, clean, quiet place of lodging for 4 people for 8 nights.

Our unit only had an AC in the living room and just fans for the bedroom and a couple small nightstand cooling fans. We opted to stay in the living room with the pullout bed, which was nice and Chris with the AC as the bedroom was a little bit too warm for our liking. Can't complain the day was awesome. We had designated parking and there was a designated pool that we could use if we wanted to and lots of space to walk around on the grass. Couldn't really ask for more and would probably stay here again. The next time we go to Maui. Our unit did have a messed up dryer so we couldn't dry our clothes using it and had to hang them all and also quite a bit of ants but nothing too concerning overall.

There was sand and hair in the shower, which was not wheelchair or walker accessible. After a 5.5 hr flight, we didn't want to be displaced due to a complaint so I cleaned to the best of my ability. There was no place to hang clothing. When we did notify Vacasa, they said they would give me back the $270 cleaning fee I paid. Vacasa misrepresents the properties, and in my opinion, this was a health risk and consumer fraud case. I will report and provide photos. Bedroom closets were stuffed with miscellaneous items, vacuum, boxes, no room to hang clothing.
