    Sunset on the grass

This has been my third time visiting this property but I want to leave a CURRENT review for anyone planning to visit in 2023. Let's start with the negatives; there's construction on two condos and below the former restaurant. The fitness center and business center are impacted as is the restaurant/bar. My family was really looking forward to our usual breakfast and maybe a parents night cap while grandma stayed with the sleeping kids, but obviously couldn't happen. Construction started early in the morning and seemed to shake the whole building. Our condos tv had three remotes and only one barely half worked (you could turn the volume down but never up) so my toddler just watched his iPad when needed. And, like with much of this tropical island, there can be ants/bugs so you need to close up and put away food. Honestly with everything going on this place deserves less stars BUT it should still be on your radar. Now for the pros, and why I still think it's a great place to stay: the views, the private beach with great snorkeling right out front. I LOVE that you don't have to cross a road to get to the beach. I love that there's the option of grass or sand to lounge on. The pool is great, warm showers (or, not icy), clean facilities. There's the resort cat who my kids lives to watch. The location is close enough to restaurants but not too downtown. A perfect spot for couples and little families. I'm hoping to update my review in another year or so when we go for our next trip. Hopefully the restaurant and bar are back open and there's no more construction.

We loved the our stay at the Mana Kai in August 2023 (We arrived just before the terrible fires around the island and in Lahaina). Unit #412 was wonderful. The building was exactly as it appears in pictures. Location, beach and pool all wonderful. You can enjoy the day right on property or drive 5 minutes south to Wailea Beach or a few more minutes to Big Beach... all amazing... Kihei town a few minutes up the road for surfing lessons, restaurants or food trucks, etc.... Boating and snorkeling excursions leave from Kihei Marina next door as well... such a wonderful place. We would go back in minute especially when the renovations are completed and the on-site restaurant is open again.

My husband & I are currently staying at the Mana Kai in Maui. We've had such an amazing time & blown away by our experience here. It's a simple but beautiful resort. Very close to Kihei & Wailea. I'm impressed with how clean the rooms and resort grounds are. The staff has been very helpful, and the location is PERFECT. Literally steps from the most beautiful beach in Maui. It's heaven here. I'm already planning our next stay and haven't even left yet lol!

I was very pleased with my 2 week stay here! The resort is clean inside and of course has amazing views outside! Check in was very easy, parking and overall stay was fantastic! Went during covid and was here over New Year's.. there were a few weddings that took place on the property, once you see the environment you will know why they chose this place! The high end mall with Prada and LV, etc.. are very close by too, as well as convenient shops and tons of restaurants. We tried to stick to local places just to have something new. I would imagine this place was even better pre-covid and hopefully post. I would recommend!

Splendid stay, great 1 bedroom condo that was clean and had everything we needed with a nice fully stocked kitchen. The grounds were impeccable, staff always very friendly and the marine life was by far the best on the island right at our resort. Already planning our next trip back! There are rentals, Zacha deli which is grab and go food/snacks/drinks and 5 palms restaurant which was great. A momma whale and her baby spent a few hours playing right off the shore our last day there.

We booked this hotel through website which photos caught our attention. We got a great deal to pay however we got a small room with a small ref, not cleaning for 5 days, restaurant was closed due construction, and no drinks , no ice. One evening we decided to cook but no pans or anything. Also you need to make an appt to use exercise room Disappointed in this hotel i wish we knew about restaurant closed before we book.

Best condo view in Maui! Quiet location yet close to everything. Can't wait to go back.

**TINY ROOM FOR $200 - NO MAHALO** Total Price: $205.07 (a night) (Inc. tax recovery charges & service fees) This was for a HOTEL ROOM ocean view. Basically 210 sq ft. of a Motel 6ish room. LIKES: *Oceanfront property *Provided beach towels and lounge chairs *Onsite restaurant, deli, general store, surf shack, and yoga classes *Happy Hour 3-7PM (but bad service, see Five Palms review) *Free Parking *Free Wi-Fi (if it works) *King beds *Mini Refrigerator *Coffee Maker *Daily Maid Service DISLIKES: *Tiny Hotel Room *Outdated TV (who hasn't upgraded to a flat screen already) *Resorty *Parking was challenging at times *Weak-ass flat pillows *Elevator didn't work and was finicky For the price, we paid for the oceanfront experience. Not too many luxurious lodging options in ultra-touristy-Kihei.

An area of the beach by the hotel

We booked a room for 4 days of our trip the hotel is in a great area with a beautiful beach. The room was small and needed a little upgrading. We did not get to eat at the restaurant even thought they give you 20 percent off the reviews did not give us the want to eat there. I loved that we had a laundry room in every floor and there they had trash bins to sort out recycling and so on. The though you need to buy the tokens to use the laundry machines and each token is 3 dollars. So I did think it was a little pricy on that part but hey if you need it, it's convenient. The staff is only there until 5:30 I believe after that you only see a security guard by the pool. The whole place was clean and orderly they eve have an area where Tracy is and she can help find some tours she was great!

This was advertised, very different view!

Terrible Customer Service!!! Manager was extremely rude and said you can just check out if you are unhappy. No way to try and solve the solution. Rooms are run down and not well maintained. Door on balcony doses not lock (safety issue), toilet does not flush, and dirty bathroom and kitchen. Advertised having premium bedding and heavenly bed, but did not. Sheets were worn and dirty and could feel coils in the bed. Purchased a ocean view room for $684 dollars a night and was looking at trees and a building from our room. False advertisement. DO NOT STAY HERE!

So relaxing. There are nice shady spots in the grass or sand. Today is not too crowded. This beach has beautiful views and mellow shoreline.

In comparison to some other brands such as Aman, Four Seasons Maui felt below average given its price point. The resort itself felt small and a bit old. The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.

Reason being that rooms are exceptional (all suites) and I highly recommend upgrading to ocean view if possible. They have prime real estate directly facing the sunset, making each night so memorable. For amenities, pools are more spread out and does not feel as claustrophobic compared to Four Seasons in my opinion. I'd choose Fairmont again for our next trip. Special shout out to the housekeeper going above and beyond who shapes our lei into a heart each time they tidy our place. This person deserves a raise/promotion. However, the overall experience was disappointing and stressful, especially given the circumstances of our trip. This was my children's first real vacation, and we were celebrating two birthdays (mine and my 8 year old daughter) which the hotel was aware of in advance. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment at all -- not even a small gesture like a cookie or note, which was surprising for a luxury family resort that promotes personalized guest experiences. We were traveling with three children (one on crutches) and a medically fragile senior with mobility limitations, yet staff did not provide meaningful assistance coordinating accessible airport transportation, forcing us to rely on Uber to make our flight home. The front desk only consistently made me aware of how expensive transportation costs were, as if I could not afford it! I was highly offended. Why would I vacation in Wailea if I can't afford to go to the airport? Why even bring that up? On our departure day, we requested a hospitality suite so our family could shower before a evening flight. Multiple staff members incorrectly told us no such option existed and suggested we use public outdoor beach showers where kids wash their feet off, which is not appropriate for children or an elderly disabled guest. Another staff member suggested that I purchase a spa pass for $75 per person to shower before our flight, but said the children could not shower there. Only after repeatedly asking multiple front desk employees, did Luz, my saving grace, who obviously has common sense, arranged our access to a hospitality suite at the last minute. I was charged $350 for the hospitality suite, but I appreciate her professionalism.

1 Star - Save Your Money and Sanity, Go Next Door to the Four Seasons…read moreWhere do I even begin with the Grand Wailea? This place has absolutely no business carrying the Waldorf Astoria name, and after staying here, I can confidently say it falls woefully short of every standard that brand is supposed to represent. Rude, Dismissive Staff (Especially by the Pools) The pool staff were some of the rudest hospitality workers I've ever encountered. Curt, condescending, and openly impatient with guests who dared to ask basic questions. There is no warmth, no service mindset, no sense that you--the paying guest--matter. For a resort charging premium pricing, the attitude from staff is genuinely shocking. Overcrowding Like You Wouldn't Believe The pool areas are wildly overcrowded. It feels less like a luxury resort and more like a packed public water park. Good luck finding a chair, walking a path without bumping into someone, or actually enjoying the pools you're paying a fortune to use. Towel Rationing at a "Luxury" Resort They actually limit towels. Let that sink in--you're paying Waldorf Astoria prices and being rationed pool towels like it's a budget motel. Absurd. Chairs Flipped So Fast You Can't Even Eat Breakfast If you leave your chair to grab breakfast, use the restroom, or do literally any activity the resort itself offers, expect to come back to find your spot has been given away. The turnover policy is so aggressive that enjoying the rest of the resort becomes impossible. You're essentially chained to a lounger if you want to keep one. Lost and Stolen Items Because Staff Removed Belongings This is the worst part. Leave your chair for more than an hour and staff will physically remove your items. We lost personal belongings because of this policy. Not misplaced--removed by staff and never recovered. At a Waldorf. Unbelievable. Hundreds of Dollars Just for a Beach Chair You read that right. They charge HUNDREDS of dollars for a beach chair. Which begs the obvious question: what exactly is the daily resort fee covering if not the most basic amenity at a beach resort? It's nickel-and-diming taken to a level I've never seen at any property at this price point. Cabanas Auctioned Off on a Secondary Market This might be the most outrageous part of the entire experience. Cabanas are essentially auctioned off on a secondary market. Some other guest bought the cabana a year earlier, and now existing guests of the resort have to pay THOUSANDS of dollars to that person just to use a cabana by the pool of the hotel they're already staying at. It's predatory, dystopian, and completely antithetical to the idea of luxury hospitality. Bottom Line This hotel is wildly overpriced and genuinely awful. It does not meet--nor even approach--the standards expected of a Waldorf Astoria property. The Waldorf name on this building is a disservice to the brand and a trap for unsuspecting guests who think they're booking a luxury experience. Never again. Walk next door to the Four Seasons. It is night and day across the board--service, atmosphere, value, every single category. Don't make the mistake we did.

We went but seen a lot of kids in it. It is surrounded by bushes so it feels private. Can't enjoy the ocean from it. I will see there is a small little beach where we sat and enjoyed the sunset. It felt like the most beautiful and private sunset ever! In that area there's also a restaurant But we didn't get to try it. The hotel, even though it's updated and gorgeous, It was a little too quiet. We went to the bar and that was pretty sleepy on its own. I understand they are still building so I would suggested on site restaurant and some lively music. Overall great stay.

We came back Oct 1st 2025- and was so disappointed to see how this place has gone down. -- There was no wi-fi available for this room. To top it off I has just come up from beach to make an important call. Had to go on deck outside- no service in room. poorly managed, amenities are not accurately depicted in the pictures posted online. Renters beware. Condo does not address repairs before rental is vacant. -The AC unit is filthy None of my concerns were ever addressed after many text messages and calls. I spent my time calling and text messaging. This is not the first negative review of this complex. They date back to 2012. This is an ongoing issue and all they care about is renting regardless of the condition of the units. If a Maui condo lied about a functioning hot tub and Wi-Fi, you should immediately document the issues and contact the property management or booking platform to request a refund or compensation for the misrepresentation Look for reviews from other guests to see if these problems are recurring, and understand your rights as a consumer in such situations to ensure fair resolution
