Came to Fairmont to celebrate our 20th anniversary and had the best time. It was our third time staying here, so we know our way around. Before I get into some pro tips, I want to give a special shoutout to: -Liliana and the management for a wonderful check-in experience and the lovely welcome gifts to celebrate our anniversary. -Kaleo at the adult pool was the epitome of Aloha vibes. He not only took great care of us, but also taught us a bit about local culture, customs, and local foodie spots. This guy is a gem and deserves a promotion. -Barry at the breakfast buffet is the kindest and nicest person. He made sure we had everything we needed and even packed us a cup of pastries for our return flight. Thank you! Everyone working here was exceptionally friendly and beyond nice to us. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about some of the entitled guests, who treated my new "friends" poorly. A little kindness goes a long way, so please don't be a jerk to these hard-working people. This hotel has probably one of the highest resort fees I've ever seen, but they actually offer a ton of amenities, so make sure to take advantage of the: -Daily activity and fitness classes (yoga, lei making, ukulele, etc.) -Free shuttle around Wailea -Water toys and beachside chairs -Free sunscreen and aftersun care at the pools -Stainless steel water bottles with water stations around the hotel -LeLabo bath products I do have to admit that knowing about all of the benefits is hard, especially when it's your first time here. Scan the QR code that comes with the keys to access all the hotel info or simply request a printed list during check-in. To freshen up on local customs, rules, and expand your Hawaiian vocabulary, check out their in-room magazines. They are packed with information. We can't wait to come back. Aloha!

We stayed four nights in a pool-side suite which came with a walk-out patio door to a table and four chairs, two lounge chairs (no umbrella), and a nice chair and footstool for reading/relaxing. It looked like our 108 suite plus two others had a ocean view, but the other pool-side suites would have more a view of the pool. The suite's lounge chairs had a cushion that was thinner than the pool-side lounge chairs which was green and quite plush. The suite has two double beds, large bathroom with separate tub and double sink plus a nice laundry basket for dirty towels and a wooden rack for hanging a wet bathing suit. The living area has a large sectional couch, TV, table and chairs for dining, and the coffee/microwave area. Tea kettle, microwave, and refrigerator, and a Nespresso Vertuo coffee maker. The white stainless steel Fairmont Kea Lani water bottles are the nicest water bottles we have ever had - keeping water cold, lift up straw and a white ring for carrying. Water stations in the hotel and by the pool. At the pool is reef-safe suntan and after sun lotion in SPF 30 and 50 that you can use. There are nice white covers for the lounge chairs and plenty of towels. There is a smaller, colder adult lap pool and hot tub (hot) and good size family pools with a slide and less hot hot tub. One of the special things about the Fairmont is the Hawaiian cultural center (Hale Kukuna) in the lobby, with lovely artifacts showcasing some of the culture and books you can read, and the cultural activities: Hula, ukelele, lei making (we made a ti leaf bracelet), and language classes. Ke'ala is a hula dancer who has performed around the world for many years and truly exemplifies the aloha spirit. I loved her hula, lei making, and ukulele classes. One of my favorite memories is the ukulele class where Ke'ala and Kapono were playing along with me and singing a beautiful song about Haleakala. Ho'ohu is another lovely teacher who I enjoyed meeting and talking with in her hula class. Tips: - The outrigger canoe excursion can get booked up, so make reservations with the Concierge even before you arrive. Ours got cancelled due to the waves and unfortunately, it was full for the subsequent days. - Parking is free. I saw a Fairmont van at the other hotel we stayed at, so I think there is a service to take you to another restaurant within a certain distance. - Shops at Wailea (also restaurants and a good gourmet/grab and go or on-demand food market - Island Gourmet Markets (love the Chicken Teriyaki)). Need to drive or see if the van will take you or about a mile away. - You will need to scan the QR code to see the list of activities - cultural, exercise and water activities. Note that the hula and ukulele classes did not show up on the Android/iPhone version, but did show up in the tablet and possibly the computer version. Suggest you go to the Concierge to have them print you a schedule of the activities for when you are there, so you can see all of them. - There is a lovely path connecting the hotels and along the cliff-side with stunning views of the ocean. Suggestions for improvement: - Fix the Android/iPhone version of the activity schedule so that the hula, ukulele classes show up consistently. Suggest ensuring the classes show up under "culture" option and "all" activity option since currently they are not showing up on the phone version. - A paper copy of the week's activities would be appreciated and easier than navigating several screens and clicks on the phone to try and see activities. Mention the walkway next to beach and the Fairmont van transportation would be nice. At the next hotel we stayed at, we got a nice sheet with the week's schedule, daily activities, and special cultural activities along with additional extra cost, special activities. - Consider having some activities in the evening after dinner. I was torn between enjoying the sun/pool/ocean and going to a class. - Add some additional hula and lei/weaving classes for people who are staying a week so different things are learned. We totally loved our stay at the Fairmont and look forward to coming back.

Never disappoints. The ambiance, the aloha spirit, the restaurants but, the staff... makes the vacation elevated to another level. Shout out to Leslie in Pilina the "bartender" par excellence who never fails to make you feel welcome & serve your every need. It's people like her who make you return every year!!

We absolutely loved our time at the Fairmont Kea Lani. The front desk staff was very helpful. First, when we checked in we mentioned we had a Costco deal that included valet parking, but they didn't have that in their system. No worries, because the woman checking us in immediately ensured it was on our account so that we didn't get charged for it. Next, we needed to make change for tips with the cash we brought, and the front desk was able to do that without a hiccup. We also loved the cleaning staff, who ensured we had plenty of caramel nespresso (it was SO GOOD) after noticing we kept drinking it all, and constant friendliness every time we passed. Lastly, the pool staff were so helpful. The number of chairs around the pool are very few, and I have some younger kids so we wanted a spot by the pool to ensure safety. The team did a great job ensuring they supported us in finding a spot during days where it was super busy, or checking in on us and saying hi. Overall, this was a great resort for kids. We went during Christmas, and there were events like feeding the koi (probably happens outside of Christmas!), or Santa arriving on an outrigger canoe and then drinks while waiting in line to snap pics with Santa. My kiddos were delighted with a sweet ornament and some Maui Pineapple cookies we received as a holiday treat! The pool and water slide were fun, the beach was perfect for a great beach day. It felt luxurious but not so expensive, which also made the vibes immaculate. We also were able to walk to other resorts easily for a luau (great for group transportation!), and the food at the market was great for small bites for breakfast instead of worrying about an expensive buffet for kiddos. We will definitely be back!

This property is absolutely stunning. From the gardens to the beachfront, every square inch is cared for. We sincerely enjoyed the split between the adult pool and child-friendly pool areas. There's enough food options at the onsite restaurants to please everyone. Note: restaurants do close early here, so plan accordingly. The location of this property is clutch. Located at the southern end of Wailea, the hotel sits in a secluded and peaceful region. The beachside trail allows for a scenic stroll northbound past other higher-end hotels and eventually near the (small) shopping district. This is truly the type of resort that accommodates travelers that want to stay on property and relax. I can't wait to come back!

I named him Charlie. He was so nice and they don't bite you if you feed them. Pang's Poke Bowl* **

Kaylee (idk how to spell cause her name rage broke or something) was amazing. Isaiah was so sweet and helpful and I wish I caught the name of the gentleman that took us to our cabana (he told us he had recently gone on a carnival cruise). We are looking into coming back, we only stopped in for a day pass from our cruise. This was our best stop on the 16 day trip. Top notch service. I love the chickens, grew up near farms in ALABAMA and I love animals.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, and we enjoyed every single moment of it! The service was fantastic, and immediately with me arrived to the hotel, we were welcomed with lei's! The place was very clean and beautiful, with such close proximity to the beach & the Wailea Beach Walk! I highly recommend this hotel for any vacation stay!! We cannot wait to come back!

For a $1000+ a night resort, I had extremely high expectations. Fairmont lives up to those expectations. From the absolutely beautiful grounds, spacious room interiors, tasteful architecture, attentive staff, high tech touches in the room, to the finely selected toiletries in the bathrooms. Oh and a great gym to top it off. There didn't seem to be anything that was unthought of while creating this palace. A definite 5 star experience.

Beautiful resort, staff is extremely helpful and kind and concierge is very knowledgeable and helpful in planning any outings. They offer a 24 hour free shuttle within a certain area. My negatives ... only 2 places for lunch on site and the main one at the pool has a wait , or it's sushi. Which the food at both are delicious, but would prefer more options to eat than basically one place. The Market ran out of most breakfast items by 10am, and I needed a car rental and had to be shuttled off site as they were out of vehicles. All was fine, but for the price, meals shouldn't be so difficult. Also, there are not many bathrooms near the pools and they are difficult to find. If you're on the beach, it's a hike to use the restroom. The suite bathrooms have an open shower, I prefer a door for the privacy, but it's all very beautiful.

I've stayed everywhere on Maui. Usually go to Grand Wailea for the pool. Decided to come to Fairmont this time. Got a corner room with wrap around balcony. Great views. Service has been excellent. Room super clean and big. Grand Wailea much older and not as clean. Breakfast buffet was awesome. Or plan came with 2 free buffets and kids price really reasonable. If you are coming to Wailea you should book this place. Worth the money.

Ask the Community - Fairmont Kea Lani

Will Fairmont Kea Lani undergo some renovations from March to July?? If so, what are being renovated? I want to make sure our stay is not impacted much, if/when we do decide to book ii?

We were there in August and the renovation going on was substantial. You can hear drilling at the pools. You may want to call them and see where they are now- it was loud.

Is the spa fully operable, i.e showers, hydrotherapy pools, etc.?

Speaking for when I went in late May, all spa facilities were available for use

Are people able to use the pool and restaurants who are not guests of the hotel?

Aloha Meryl! Pool access is reserved for registered guests only but all are welcome to dine at our restaurants! We do recommend that you make a reservation in advance.… Read more

Construction question - To those who have stayed there very recently, did you notice any impact on your stay from the construction? For example, could you hear it from the pools? Thanks!!

I was there 2 weeks ago and didn't notice any construction noise at the pool or beach.

Planning on vacationing here with the family our kids are four and two. Does this hotel have a fun kids pool area and/or kids activities?

Yes! Kiddie pool is excellent! Our son is 4 and we spent all day, every day at the pool! You'll love it!!

Do these rooms have a fridge or mini fridge? Planning on visiting with the family and my boys are 4&2...is it family friendly? Kids activities and whatnot?

Yes, they have mini fridges in each room and a microwave. There is a kiddy pool that's not even calf deep that was perfect for my kid who had just turned 3 and the regular pool was perfect for my 7 year old. He loved the water slide and there were… Read more

Thanks for this review Chandra! Is there 2 adult pools. I kept reading there was no swim up bar at the adult pool? So wondering is there are 2? Thanks!

There is 1 adult pool. There are two other pools for all ages, as well as one "kiddy" pool. The pool with the swim up bar is for all ages!

The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.

There is a more…read moresignificant meaning behind the word and they have several books inside the hotel that gives a deeper dive into the history and other Relais & Châteaux in the world. Apparently it used to be a Japanese club called the Diamond, but was converted to a hotel after seeing the club die out. I booked this hotel for a variety of reasons. The biggest reason being that this is an adults only hotel. Upon doing my research of Maui, I figured that the south west side was probably going to be better for calmer waters and a more tranquil place for a relaxing vacation with my wife who is expecting. I am glad I chose Hotel Wailea rather than other hotels around the area including Grand Wailea or Four Seasons. Another reason is that I was able to book directly on their website and save some money on their insider rate (nonrefundable). I always try to book directly so that it benefits the hotel. It also benefits me because I was able to save 30% on the rate and got a few bonus perks. It was a little bit of a gamble due to the extreme weather that they had prior to coming, but luckily everything worked out and the weather was beautiful during my stay. Being a smaller hotel, I noticed more attention to detail and much better service than any other hotels that I have stayed at in the past. Upon coming to the hotel with my rental car, the valet service greeted us and took care of all our bags and showed us to the check in area. We were greeted with a flower lei for my wife and a kukui nut lei for me. The check in process took a few minutes to explain the layout of the hotel and details. We got a free valet parking since we stayed 5 days at the hotel and also got a $100 dining credit. I am glad we got the valet parking since I read that the parking spots can be tight and distant from everything. The valet took us to our stay with a golf cart loaded with our luggage. Upon entering our suite, there was a welcome gift including some chocolates and alcohol free champagne. The suite is filled with everything you need. They have a fridge stocked with soft drinks and sparkling water that is all complimentary. They also have bottles of water and you can request more. You are able to take beach chairs, umbrellas, parasol and towels to the beach. They have shuttle rides that can take you to nearby area up to a certain distance. They will also pick you up if you call them. The shower and bath had the best water pressure I've seen anywhere. The bathtub was huge and it actually filled relatively quickly. They have a TV in the bedroom and in the lounge area. The outdoor patio provided a really nice view towards the ocean, garden and sky. I stayed very close to the gym which was a huge plus. I was able to use it every morning and was the only one there every morning prior to sunrise. Working out pre-sunrise to sunrise in a open door setting was a great experience. They have some unique free weights that mimics a natural wood look. There is a row machine, a coupe of treadmills, elliptical and peloton for cardio. Other basic machines that uses a pulley and weight system are available. They have several yoga mats as well for any floor exercises. The pool area seemed busy during the day so I went after sunset mostly. The water is heated so it is very comfortable. There is a beautiful sunset view from the restaurant or from the birdcage. Depending on who you ask and what circumstances they have, it could vary what expensive is, but it is certainly not cheap or affordable here. You are paying for more than just a view here. The entire experience is curated for you. The staff here does a phenomenal job at keeping this property well-maintained and running. The restaurant and hotel has a premium price, but for a premium experience. There are other experiences here that you can book on their website or contacting the front desk. The front desk, housekeeping and valet were all so easy to contact with the phone in the room. We tried the in room dining once and although it took some time, it was a nice experience. Known for its tranquil adults-only atmosphere, attentive service, and luxurious amenities, Hotel Wailea offers a beautifully curated and premium Hawaiian getaway that is well worth the high price tag.

Hotel Wailea Maui - I will never, ever forget the pool at Hotel Wailea. Lounging in the water while the parakeets sing above you and you sip a pina colada? YES.

Thank you to our wedding coordinator, Elena, for taking care of everything for our elopement and ensuring that everything ran smoothly down to the small details like fashion tape for my lei. The grounds are so well kept and stunning, the rooms are clean and our housekeeper found cute ways to add special touches to our clean. The lobby bar staff is hilarious and makes a dang good cocktail as well. Overall we had the best time and are dreaming of our next trip here. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts.

After multiple flight cancellations left us stranded in Maui, we found ourselves in a stressful and uncertain situation, especially traveling with both our family and my in-laws. On top of that, Maui was experiencing torrential rain, flooding, and road closures. It could have easily turned into a very difficult trip. Then we met Adrian. He stepped in with urgency, empathy, and an incredible level of care. Not only did he find rooms for us on short notice, but he secured an oceanfront room as well as another room with perfect access to the pool. He was extremely accommodating and thoughtful in every detail, making sure both sides of our family were taken care of. What stood out most was how genuinely he cared. Adrian didn't just solve a problem, he completely changed the trajectory of our trip. In the middle of chaos and uncertainty, he created a sense of calm and turned our stay into something truly special. The resort itself is an absolute oasis in one of the most beautiful parts of our country, but it's people like Adrian who make the experience unforgettable. We are incredibly grateful for everything he did for us. If you have the chance to stay here, you're in amazing hands. And if you're lucky enough to work with Adrian Morales, it will elevate your entire experience.

We do not recommend staying at this hotel for the following reasons;…read more 1). Front desk staff had an awful attitude when we asked questions and /or say hello, good morning etc. SPECIALLY THE TALL WOMAN WITH LONG HAIR (a local) you could tell she hated every guest. Everyone who's not from the island. We had no other choice lady! our company sent us there. we went there to work not to stay there forever. Also the other local women working in the front desk were very Apathetic/rude. In contrast the other staff who weren't locals were very polite and welcoming. 2). Rooms. The carpet is extremely filthy (wear flip flops otherwise your feet will be pitch black from the dirt ) our room was cleaned very late in the afternoon almost every day. Some days it was cleaned very well in the morning but when it was done in the afternoon, it wasn't clean well. No kitchen counters were cleaned, rug was not vacuumed and the shower had dirt on it, PUBIC HAIR! And on the sink counter as well. Very gross. Also the bed wasn't even made properly. 3). Noise! Walls are very thin. We could hear people screaming, laughing, slamming doors you name it! The good: The staff in the restaurant area were very lovely. The breakfast buffet was pretty good To the ladies or managers or whoever is putting a blind eye on how front desk staff is treating guests, you don't have the right to be disrespectful. If you can't stand/tolerate people who's not from your community, don't work on hospitality. Don't work for the industry that's bringing /welcoming people from all over the world. There's more to learn and see beyond your island. We come from a country/community that respects other people, cultures and will welcome you with open arms and respect. Don't hate us. Instead, focus your energy towards organizing and fighting the rich and powerful who are the real villains for taking away your land.

I initially planned on canceling our trip, but the hotel asked that we still come since they needed the business. I just didn't want to be in the way, but Lahaina is far away so we had no impact.
