While they were all very nice I found them disorganized, slow to respond and just not the quality or efficiency I would expect from a Four Seasons. I emailed over a week before our trip asking for dining recs, activities and car rentals and at first didn't hear back for a couple of days. I then called to follow up and got a response but information was provided piecemeal. I had to talk to 3 different people in order to get most of my questions answered (but not all). I had to repeat myself often in emails and do duplicate work to get things booked. Getting everything squared away though (activities, and dining reservations etc.) took hours of emailing, phone call chats and in my opinion should have been more streamlined. Of the folks I spoke to, I found Melissa the most helpful and wished more of the people I spoke to were as helpful as her. Eventually I had to resort to just booking dining reservations myself - no big deal but I feel like part of the value proposition of a FS is that they do all of these things for you. When I spoke with the third person to ask for dining recs all her top ones were the hotel restaurants which is fine but I'm calling because I want to go beyond the hotel walls. The restaurants at the hotel also were fine but not the very best. After a few emails to the concierge I received the dining guide and info on things to do with the kids when this would have been helpful to receive from the beginning. I know that part of the challenge is the revolving door nature of a concierge at some hotels, with different people working each day and having to re-read past email threads etc. but I'm sure there's a solution for this.

Turtles would swim up to our canoe, you are not allowed to touch them. Reservations a must, $65 "no show" fee. We have also eaten in ALL of their restaurants and bars, lol. Including their market and cafe... This was only a 2 week stay. Ambiance - A large resort with their own beach with umbrella service. I love the lobby and all the open air spaces. Events and activities; see their website. Spa, 3 pools, water slide, 24 hour gym, dry cleaning, laundry service, courtesy car (please tip), etc. Not sure if wifi is included any more...? You might have to join the loyalty program. Valet parking - $59 a night. Parking changed, from free open parking to paid parking. I see that you are building a kiosk to let cars in and out of your lot. A small pet friendly $40 a day fee. Service - Good. Price - Expensive. But that is the cost for quality & service. $59 daily resort fee. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1886 and 2001 as Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Beautiful Resort, Wonderful Suites and Exceptional Sushi, but Some Shortcomings…read more We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani after spending four nights at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, so we had a pretty good opportunity to compare two of Maui's luxury resorts. First, the positives. Our suite was wonderful! Spacious, modern, beautifully appointed, and exceptionally clean, with a separate living room and bedroom. Frankly, the accommodations felt considerably more modern and comfortable than the somewhat dated rooms at the Ritz-Carlton. The fitness center was absolutely spectacular, even better than the excellent gym at the Ritz. The adults-only pool staff were also very friendly. A huge shout-out to Pilina! We enjoyed sushi at the bar twice, and it was absolutely divine--better than what we had at a nearby restaurant supposedly specializing in premium sushi. The staff were equally delightful. Special thanks to the wonderful woman who served us Tuesday evening around 5 p.m. near the open window at the back of the bar, and to John, who took care of us Wednesday. Both were exceptionally warm and welcoming. Kudos to the sushi chef as well! Another refreshing surprise was the complimentary self-parking, just a short walk from the hotel. Compared with the mandatory $65-per-night valet parking at the Ritz-Carlton, this was a welcome change. Now, a few disappointments. We stayed in Room 342, directly above the restaurant. Unfortunately, around 5 a.m., we could hear staff setting up and talking loudly, with the noise echoing into our suite. Not exactly the peaceful morning you'd expect at a luxury resort. The front desk staff were average to good, but the concierge staff came across as rather snooty and unnecessarily pretentious. That attitude seemed completely out of place at an otherwise welcoming resort. The television technology was also surprisingly outdated. No convenient QR-code connection or straightforward way to stream Netflix, and we received conflicting explanations about why things weren't working. And the coffee at the resort market? Absolutely awful, especially at $8-$9 a cup! Even the complimentary coffee in our room was better. Finally, the cabanas at approximately $500 per day seemed excessively expensive and difficult to justify. Overall, the Fairmont Kea Lani is a beautiful resort with excellent accommodations and some genuinely outstanding employees. Pilina was a particular highlight, both for the exceptional sushi and wonderful service. There are definitely areas that need improvement, particularly the early-morning noise and consistency of guest services. But despite those shortcomings, we enjoyed our stay and found plenty to appreciate about the Fairmont.

Engineer had to come to help fix some issues with the shower door and two of the sliding door were installing upside down and backward but these issues didn't affect our stay. The room was clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet for a room located next to the elevator. Check in was a breeze and the valet team were both prompt and friendly. You receive a welcome drink and a lei ( flower for females and kuki nut for males). Amenities were the same as our previous stay. They have activities throughout the day for guests which is nice for families and young kids. Our child loved being by the pool and we spent most of our time there. The beach front access and setups are a huge plus for this property. You can snorkel right off of the beach and see fish and sea turtles. Overall, we had another great experience at the Andaz Maui and will return again in the future.

Hallways to rooms floored in Mexican tile. TVs don't have streaming or casting. Dirty balconies. Grout everywhere is gross, including in the adult pool where it looks like it hasn't been emptied and cleaned for years. Water elevator hasn't been working for months, according to the employees. And the expense! $32 hot dog, $36 hamburger. $65 breakfast buffet for a basic Hilton breakfast buffet. No loungers on the sand without cost ($75). $125 wagyu steak that's chewy and needs salt. We had a salad at the central bar with so much dressing it was swimming. Nobu is misplaced in this location. Women's bathrooms smell terrible with no ventilation. Not enough shaded lounge chairs at the adult pool. They charge for even mediocre covered day beds. Pools could be slightly heated, but aren't. The view and location are pretty amazing. Property is huge and gardens seem well kept. Would I come back? Hell no.

Threes, in town, great staff (ask for Josh) and food. Nalu, great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. 30 min walk or short drive. Great happy hour, ahi tacos the best. Monkey pod, but I like the one in Kaanapali best, better views. Salesman Dan Hunter was respectful and informative for our update, not pushy! Beaches nearby: Polo beach, great boardwalk along resorts in Wailea. Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, you can walk the wooden bridge and then the beach. You can walk the beach all along Kīhei, even across the street, it just isn't easy in some areas. Cons: Need a car! The adult pool at the resort was cloudy and dirty from the pigeon's. Never saw them cleaning the pool until we complained the third day. Then they tried to clean it better l, especially after our review and we complained again. They need to do something about the pigeons before it gets better. The other pools were pristine. You rarely see a pool attendant, no help moving chairs or umbrellas. Only the adult pool area have nice comfortable covers, about 25, the rest are very uncomfortable. Wore down crappy cabanas with dirty covers, no TV's working or refrigerators, not that I would use them, but if you have them they should be in working order. Complained to Chanel, day manager who didn't seemed too concerned. She did come down and looked but no feedback expect pool service did seem to improve, just not resolved. The grab and go is really just a small fast food restaurant, no food only drinks. Are room was great except for dirty floors from something they put on them (photo with stain from wet foot). Moldy shower walls (photo). Cabinet in front of sink has a handle I hit my head on each time I wash dishes. Washer very loud!

During what could have been a stressful situation, she made everything much easier for us. We really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. Pros: The staff throughout the property were very friendly and welcoming. The resort did not feel overcrowded, which made for a relaxing stay. Our room was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a full-size kitchen that was great to have. There are a few areas that could use improvement. Housekeeping could benefit from additional training and attention to detail, as the room cleaning was not as thorough as we would have expected. The patio furniture also appeared as though it had not been cleaned in a very long time, possibly since the property opened. Unfortunately, it was dirty enough that we did not feel comfortable sitting outside and enjoying the patio. Another disappointment was the food situation. The website indicates there is a kitchen on site, but there are actually no restaurants at the property, including by the pool, and there is no real breakfast option. There is a bar across the street with limited hours that serves bar food, as well as a grab-and-go area. We received a coupon for the grab-and-go, but the options with the coupon were extremely limited. We were only able to order a premade McMuffin-style breakfast sandwich, while the other items were not eligible with the coupon. Despite these areas for improvement, we are still giving our stay five stars because of the friendly staff and, most importantly, the way Shermila and the front desk team took care of us during a difficult situation with the storm. That level of service made a lasting impression and was very much appreciated.

Despite that, he continued yelling "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" I am not kidding he yelled at the top of his lungs at least 5x more times. To the point that I responded that we were already getting out and had apologized, and that repeating it was unnecessary. His response was, "Well, you guys don't know how to read the sign, so you clearly need to be told several times." Wow. I completely understand the pool has posted hours and have no issue being asked to leave once I realized it was closed. That part was my mistake. What was disappointing was the way my 11 year old son and I were treated after we immediately complied. There was no reason to repeatedly yell at us or make disrespectful comments. Guests deserve to be treated with courtesy, even when they've made an honest mistake. I hope management addresses how guests are spoken to, because this interaction left a very negative impression. As a suggestion, it might help to automatically turn the pool lights off (if this happened we would have left immediately) and/or disable the gate keypad when the pool closes. We honestly didn't realize the posted hours and those changes would make it much more obvious that the pool was closed while also preventing situations like this. Because of this my family and I will never stay here again. There are plenty of other options just as good or better on Maui. TLDR: The pool closes at 8pm! If in the pool after be prepared to get yelled at by the staff repeatedly with disrespectful comments made to you and your children.

In the morning I enjoyed the nice little sitting area right outside my room while I had coffee and listened to the crashing waves. There is a busy street between the hotel and the beach... so you hear cars as well. I noticed a faint beeping noise every once in a while in the room. I think it may have been coming from the AC.
