Warm greeting. Easy check-in and check-out process. Spacious condo. Shower over tub didn't drain. I was standing in 1 1/2" of dirty shower water daily until they came and made repairs. The water temperature is often lukewarm, at best. It's only hot after the water heater has been left alone for a few hours. All other facets of the condo were in good working order. TIP: Use the washing machine or dishwasher during the middle of the day when no one is showering -- and not back to back. There's simply not enough hot water to go around for a family of four. Why do I feel condensation droplets while lying in my bed? Is that from the A/C vent?!? The cabana is a free, noisy, unfriendly golf cart ride away from the condos that closes early. Parking is not ideal. It's either a small outdoor lot near registration, or a super-low garage that your SUV will not fit in the bottom two floors -- shows you how old this place is. (Be very careful when opening your rear lift gate as it will hit the ceiling of the garage -- especially, if it's motorized.) I'm guessing Outrigger bought this property for its footprint and future potential here on the northern part of Ka'anapali. Once they endure the Maui permitting process, I suspect this dated property will be leveled and turned into a first class destination worthy of the Outrigger branding. Until then, I'd recommend that you look elsewhere. read more

A wonderful place to stay while in Hawaii! The area is beautiful, and the property has great amenities. We were conveniently close to the gym, which we used every morning, and the pool area was a lot of fun with corn hole, shuffleboard, bocce ball, and a relaxing hot tub. The staff was super friendly, and our room had a full kitchen, a table, a patio, and a couch -- all perfect for making our 5-day stay comfortable. There were also stores nearby, which made grabbing essentials really easy. Everything made our trip so enjoyable and stress-free! We will definitely stay here again! read more

Oh, yes! We rented one of these through Airbnb. Whenever I use Airbnb, I never know what to expect. We were thrilled! We have a one bedroom garden suite. it was spotlessly clean. and just beautiful! And huge! Beyond huge! Two bathrooms and a washer and dryer in the unit as well! Yessssss!!!! If you happen to be in Worldmark owners like we are, you may have fallen in love with the island of Maui, but just couldn't handle how the Kihei location has gone downhill. It's gone from dirty to gross and in various stages of disrepair. We decided we would check out something up here instead of dealing with all that again, and I'm so glad we did! (And no, there is no relationship to Worldmark here, I'm just mentioning this for anyone who might be in a similar situation two ours.) The Whalers shopping center and Kaanapali beach are both a quick walk. There is even a shuttle that you can take to both places. The guys that work here will also take you down to the beach on the property free of charge in a golf cart anytime you would like. You even have access to free towels and chairs down there. And the beach is just as beautiful as it is on the other side of Black rock. I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. The only issue we had, and it was an inconvenient one, was that one of the beds was pretty concave. It needed to be replaced, and my back started hurting after a day or two. First, I sent Outrigger a message on their site without any response whatsoever. The El Dorado Resort grounds are nice. The location on the golf course and proximity to ocean is nice. The process of booking was nice. This is where nice ends. We rented three condos and paid around $13k. It's not crazy to expect well kept accommodations. The general run down condition of E100 was disappointing. The stovetop kept cycling off and it took 15 min to make a single pancake. I had my entire family in Hawaii. I called the onsite personnel and they sent a house keeper to fix the stovetop. When this didn't work, they said they'd send a maintenance person. I called hours later and they told me they couldn't get a hold of anyone. They told me they'd send someone the next day, nobody showed, ever. I rented a condo with a kitchen and bought $800 worth of groceries so we could cook some family meals. I had to buy a fry pan to avoid the non-stick coating peeling off the one they provided. The roof tiles falling from the second story stopped us from using one patio. The kids didn't like the water beatles (look like roaches). Basically, our other 2 bedroom smelled and E100 was not nice. Our 1 bed was nice, so I heard, I never looked. Outrigger collected the cash but did not deliver a more than $500/nite condo. I would have saved money and had a better trip had we gone to another hotel. The simple fact I gave them a chance to discuss my issues before I posted this and they disregarded me completely, says everything. No service after the sale. Buyer be ware. read more

This place was ok on the outside. The walk to the beach was far but not too far. However the beach area was rocky and rough and the only guest amenities were a shower and bathroom. The inside of the room was disgusting. Very deeply dirty carpet and couch. My feet became black walking around. We carried in some sand with us so I cleaned it up with some Swiffers that were in the closet. After 4 swiffers they were still coming out black. it seemed this place hadnt been cleaned in years. It is clearly spelled out that once your Tp (2 rolls for 8 days) is gone you are on your own. Linens are not collected for washing. etc. also $600 in advance for depature cleaning but I'm not sure why because I cleaned more than I think it's been cleaned in years read more

Disappointed with our stay. Will not recommended nor stay ever again. Our unit was extremely outdated, nothing like the pictures we were shown. Starting with check in, we were told our unit was not ready, they have a strict 3pm check in. At 2:55 they gave us our keys, we excitedly walked to our unit only to find our housekeeper still cleaning. She was very nice and friendly, allowed us to come in and wait. That was about the only positive customer service we experienced. Beware: the front desk is only able to give you your keys. They don't help with anything unit related. We went to the front desk to complain about the condition of our units, we were referred to our property manager who was already closed by the time we checked in, and closed for the weekend. We could not request toilet paper, towels or cleaner from the front desk. If you need toilet paper during your stay you need to pick it up from the property manager about .5 miles from our unit. They do not give new towels during your stay, you must wash them yourselves. They do not clean your unit during your stay. We were charged an upgrade fee of $400 for a partial ocean view. They don't warn you that you need binoculars to see the water. This is unacceptable. Be warned. They do offer a cabana for your use while there, but of course the residents can book it and have private events. It was closed 3 of the nights we stayed. The unit had tons of ants, both in the kitchen and bathroom. We experienced cockroaches, one in the shower and one running out from under the stove. The mattresses were probably about 20 years old. They were booked solid so no chance of moving us. We rented 3 units total. 1 had no working a/c but I'll let the others review their own units but heads up, they do not have a better review than this. All three units were disappointing, outdated and not clean. Possible mold in our shower ceiling. Running toilet water all night. The complaints are endless. We have filed a complaint with our travel agent. read more

Great location at reasonable prices with an exclusive beach cabana. The cabana at the beach is the best feature--no other resort in Kaanapali has one. Walk 10 min or order a golf cart to take you from the office. Full kitchen with sink, fridge, and ice maker. Bath in the sun or shade on the deck without the messy sand. Or check out a beach chair and enjoy the sand. There is something for everyone! The next best feature is the great location. Walk north up to 2 miles on a boardwalk along the ocean, passing Kahekili Beach Park with some of the best snorkeling. Walk through the neighboring Sheraton on the south and walk up to 2 miles that direction, passing Whalers Village sipping area and some of the most beautiful hotels you will ever see. Walk 10 min to Black Rock to enjoy amazing snorkeling and be there by 5:50pm any evening to watch the cliff dive ceremony just before the spectacular Maui sunset. This place has very kind staff, and the size of my room was wonderful, but I would not recommend that ANYONE comes here until the bug problem has been solved. I had problems every day I was here with bugs; most days I struggled just with lots of fruit flies in my room, then roaches. I included a pic of the roach that's currently chilling out in my bathtub now. Home sweet Stockton? Forgot it was Maui for a few. Some vacations certainly leave you looking forward to going home, this was one of them. An afterthought - it sucked that I also had to install my own toilet seat. This is our second time here and I am incredibly disappointed right now. We arrived today and had two 2 bedroom units reserved. My sister's unit was infested with ants and our unit has plywood on the ceiling over our shower. We have requested an upgraded unit both times and they are both in need of a serious upgrade. We also asked for upstair units and we are downstairs. I get that requests aren't guaranteed but it's been this way now the two times we've stayed here AND we made reservations and had these requests done quite awhile ago. It's just frustrating when you pay so much for a 10 day vacation to be in such a lousy room. Oh and it's also super dark. No overhead lighting and only two lamps work. It's a dismal dungeon. Location is nice, and we like the grounds. I'll go elsewhere next time. **edit** Requested to move and they offered to put us in the room my sister was in after the pest company sprays for the ant issue. With our two rooms we are paying nearly $7,000 to be in a dump. I am so disappointed Outrigger would rent a unit like this. Accommodations for a costly trip like this is a big part of your vacation. **edit** Eldorado did end up calling me later in the day offering to move us which was nice. The room difference is like night and day. I think going forward I would want to ask for a specific until and pay to get it through the owner. read more

My overview of the resort is that it is ideally located, a short walk to the boardwalk. The grounds are well kept. Our condo # E202 comfortable. There was however no housekeeping provided which has become normalized. Our problem was a bed but infestation that we reported to management. Management determined that they would credit $100 for sleeping with bedbugs on a 7 day stay. There responsibility for managing the cleanliness of the units was totally neglected. read more

Just finished our 5 day stay at this condo. I guess I didn't have high expectations because it was a steal for the package through AA vacations. I knew Kaanaapali was a great location and liked the idea of having a kitchen to try to save on eating out a bit. Checking in was easy. However if you got through AA vacations be prepared for a registration fee and a resort fee which immediately adds ~$150. The room is very outdated. The lanai doors did not close fully at the bottom and given the tropical weather I was concerned about bugs but did not encounter any. The beds are standard but the TV in the bedroom is so small for the size of the room it is pretty much not functional. The kitchen was also standard but the refrigerator and freezer are set at a temperature that is slightly higher than expected. The controls are taped over so you can't change them. How did I know the temp wasn't right? The ice maker made ice, which then melted Into one huge piece and then froze again. Sign that the freezer is not keeping temp. The laundry and dryer were also in need of repair. The laundry is loud and made sounds that were clearly not normal. We ran a load and had to squeeze out the laundry to be able to put them in the dryer. They were sopping wet. Management said they would have someone come take a look which I'm not sure ever happened because the problem was not fixed. Ran again two nights later and same issue. The dryer lint trap had holes in it so the lint is collecting in the vent which is a huge fire hazard. We made do squeezing our laundry and line drying a lot of stuff. For the inconvenience they gave us a $50 credit off the cleaning fee which is apparently new due to COVID? Normal cost is $302 so we paid $250. The "good deal" was not so much after all the add ons. Especially for the quality of the lodging. This management was quite friendly but the lodging is really not up to par for Maui. The location is great and is a quick walk to Whalers Village, Black Rock and also the private cabana where you can sit in the shade or rent chairs and towels. The north side of the beach is much quieter than the south side of black rock but that's because there are huge rocks that make it difficult to boogie board. I'm really not a complainer although this post seems like I am. I had low expectations of the lodging but was still unfortunately disappointed. That being said still had an amazing time in Maui and May just stick with higher ranked hotels or Airbnb in the future. read more

This place was a pretty good spot if you don't care about the resort experience and having bars & restaurants available on location. We stayed in unit K-107. Unit was decent size and had a nice comfortable king bed as well as washer & dryer in unit and full fridge, microwave & stove so we were able to get stuff from grocery store and save money on food. We didn't like that they asked us to wash the towels before leaving to help the cleaning crew. We are paying a cleaning fee that should cover us from having to wash towels. We also thought the pool should of been open till 10pm instead of 9pm as that's just early for this type of place. The jacuzzi was pretty small and could of used a cleaning. The jets in it are pretty much useless/non existent. Pool deck was nice though and having grills on site was an added perk. Was about a 7 min walk down to the beach so not so bad. Nice quieter beach to relax at. read more

The first thing I want to say about my review is that not all of the units are the same at Outrigger Maui Eldorado, but the room that we stayed in was absolutely wonderful!! When booking our trip to Maui we were looking for three main things 1. reasonable price 2. minimal crowds 3. close access to a beach Maui Eldorado met all of these needs. First the price, Hawaii in general is expensive so be prepared! That being said we felt after comparing Eldorado with many other places that this was a good economic decision. In terms of "crowds" this complex was great. There were't a ton of people running around all the time and the complex was very quiet, there were many times when we could even have one of the smaller pools to ourselves. In terms of beach access we were also just off the main drag of hotels so the beaches we had access to were less crowded. It was a very easy walk to the beach area on a paved path. It was also great because the cabana had towels and chairs that you could rent for the day. All in all we had a really great time and were quite pleased with our unit. When we find our way back to Maui someday I'm sure we will look to stay here again. read more

Very disappointed with this place and will never stay here again. For the amount of money they charge and all the other extra fees, it is not worth it. I trusted the name "Outrigger" and expected better quality accommodations. However, upon our arrival, the room was the unbelievably old and run down (see pics). It was apparent our condo was never renovated since the day they opened... the decor was from the early 80's. The pics on yelp showed the time share renovations rather than the rooms people booked on online. Below are the negatives and positives of Outrigger Maui Eldorado. Negatives 1) My husband discovered a cockroach in the kitchen cabinet drawers. 2) Carpet was filthy. 3) Door stop on front door did not work. 4) Dryer lint drawer dislodged while dryer was on. 5) Lamp switch fell apart. 6) Wall pics were crooked. There were nails on the walls where pics should be hanging. They didn't even try to attempt to make the room presentable to guests. 7) 7) Free parking near your condo BUT the parking lot gets full quick! The only other option to park under the parking garage but it'll be a long walk to your room. Positive 1) Staff is friendly. 2) Provided transportation via golf cart to the beach. 3) Beach is beautiful. Super clean and not rocky at all... and they provide complimentary beach chairs & towels. read more

First time here staying at the Maui Elderado hotel. I've always passed this property on Keka'a Drive while staying at the Royal Lahaina hotel on previous stays. I guess 2016 January was a good time to check out a new place and I'm glad that I made the right decision. The Maui Elderado hotel here in beautiful Kaanapali Maui is the 2nd time I've stayed at a multi building condo type property anywhere in the world, to my knowledge. The other time was at the Royal Lahaina resort hotel, which was basically next door, only separated by a golf course along Keka'a Drive. I must say that the Maui Elderado hotel and resort was almost felt like a gated private residential community. I guess that's what people like about condo type of accommodations away while on vacation. Feels like home, but not like a hotel room at all. There is a private 2 story parking garage for guests and a small swimming pool on property, but many people would opt for hitting the beach along the world famous Kaanapali strip, overlooking the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i. The overall experience here was good and had a relaxing time, even though I was here for yet another race along Highway 30 on Sunday morning. I checked into the Maui Elderado hotel on Saturday, January 16 and stayed for 2 nights. Getting around the property seemed confusing at first, so having a map was nice just to get to where you are going on the first try instead of roaming around and getting lost. They gave me room 106 in the "E" building. The only problem with this stay, which I probably didn't see on my booking with hotels.com was that there was a resort fee of $14 per day, which included free parking for my rental car and a $95 per stay room cleaning few, which per the hotel, was mandatory. I'm going to assume that it was just another revenue generating mechanism for them and not just due to a necessity. That kind of made me frustrated a little bit, when they told me about the $95 per stay cleaning fee, but what can you do. I was on vacation mode, so I just let it go. Ugh for real. Be aware! The Maui Elderado hotel is priced reasonably at $160/night on hotels.com, where I had booked the reservation. They accept major credit cards, for any other hotel charges and incidentals. The room suite I received was pretty cool. It was a full kitchen, complete with a refrigerator and microwave. Cups, wine glasses, utensils, and dinnerware were in the cabinets. The room was complete with a television, a table, and a sofa bed. There was also a stove / oven combination unit, for those guests who want to cook and eat in versus eating out during their stay. Along with the king bed that was surprisingly comfortable, it was nice being here. The room was meticulously clean and well organized. Probably because of the $95 per stay mandatory cleaning fee, but still they keep it very nice for all guests who stay here. The decor of the room was nice and inviting. The bathroom area was as usually nice and aesthetically pleasing. For what it was worth, I thought that it was a comfortable stay over the dr Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend holiday 2016. There was wifi connectivity on the property, with each connection is labeled for each room. While I did not use this service, it was good to have. For what it was worth, the overall experience here at the Maui Elderado hotel was good. The check in service was good and the check out service was quick and expedient. I'd recommend staying here on your next trip to Maui, but be very wary of those hidden extra fees that they attach to your bill. Yes, you're on vacation, so you may let it slide so that your vacation may be as awesome as ever. But just pay attention to it and you'll have a wonderful stay here in Lahaina or wherever your travels on Maui may take you. 4.0 stars for sure, upgraded to 4.5. Support local! B read more

10th visit to Maui, first but not last stay here. :) My husband & I shared a 2BR/2BA condo with my Mom & Dad. We had unit B100. At first we were disappointed to be near the road & far away from the beach. But our disappointment turned to joy when we saw the inside of the unit. You know how the brochure or online pictures are normally the most beautiful unit & no one actually gets a room that looks like the picture? Well we got it! It was perfectly appointed, clean & modern. The walk from our unit to the beach cabana took less then 10 minutes in flip flops. We did take the golf cart back about half the time & while not required we tipped the driver a couple of bucks for the service. We only swam in one of the 3 pools. The large one on top of the parking garage. The middle pool was a little small & cold and we just never made it to the 3rd one which was actually the closest to us. Pool towels provided in your room, beach towels at the cabana. The cabana deck was awesome! Loved having a fridge to put our beverages in. The cabana also checks out beach chairs in case the deck is full or the sun isn't on the deck yet. Sun started hitting the deck about 11am. Minor issues that could have been better; need more hangers in the closet, no fan in the bathroom to remove steamy air, tile floor needed mopping & the carpet might need shampooing because our feet or socks got dirty if we weren't wearing shoes inside. Small parking areas near the units fill up fast so you can expect to park in the garage & walk to your unit. Loved eating at Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina. A short 10 min drive South & liked the Times Supermarket about 5 min North better than the Safeway in Lahaina. Also loved picking up the plumeria that fell from the trees to bring back to our unit for decoration. read more

I love this place. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The hotel is on a golf course and 5 minute walk from the beach. Most of the rooms have their own owner so I hear they vary in style but ours is great (h100). Your own full kitchen to cut down on food costs. A laundry machine in unit to clean my beach clothes. 2 pools on premise just in case you're tired of the beach. We got to Maui, went to the grocery store and have been relaxing ever since. Bonus: the only private cabana, on the beach, on the whole island of Maui! read more

The Maui Eldorado is a multiple owner condo unit, and unless you rent specifically through the owner, you may not know what you will get. I've stayed here multiple times, and while we had a good time, there were some "opportunities" with this stay. This room--J119 booked through a travel agent from Outrigger, was upgraded since my last stay, the appliances were newer than many of the other 5 units I saw on this trip. However, the bed was dismal and flat, The carpet was ABSOLUTELY FILTHY, making our socks black within the first hour we were there. The A/C barely worked in the beginning, and it didn't start to improve until we complained multiple times, and they begrudgingly and secretively admitted that there is a VIP setting which prevents it from turning off while you are out of the room (or sleeping). The bathroom vent fell off the ceiling while we were out, due to an enormous cane spider that decided it wanted to come out and visit. This revealed that the air vents were in desperate need of cleaning, and explained a lot about the circulation in the rooms. The refrigerator was also turned "up," which we adjusted to make sure the food we purchased would not give us food poisoning while we were there. It does make you wonder where your $125.00 cleaning fee goes to... since we did most of the cleaning ourselves. If you can look past these challenges, and the fact that they allowed us to use a key to check out another room on our own... Which ended up being occupied... and the check in clerk seemed to try to whisper, and try to hide his conversations with the maintenance staff (which is how I found out about the VIP setting for the Air). Beyond making small attempts to give you room that isn't even up to these standards... they can't do much, and you have to contact the Outrigger Management offices during their hours---not the Maui Eldorado). If you can look beyond these, it's a older location, with some nice amenities, and reasonable prices. Cute Lanai, Partial Ocean views across the golf course, Washer/Dryer, 5 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute walk to the shops and dining at Whaler's village, or other restaurants up the beach walk. (short drive to Lahaina (or take the shuttle). Two other family members rented condo's through VRBO, and they had better experiences, the rooms were cleaner, the beds were softer, the A/C actually functioned from the moment they stepped in. I'm thinking... check out VRBO before going through Outrigger. (A shame, since I've had better experiences through Outrigger in the past, and at other locations). (one lady we met even told my family, she could work a better deal.--- and her place was apparently nicer (though not an ocean view, but then again... I can see the ocean from the wonderful cabana on the beach, or poolside. It is one of the best beaches in the area in my opinion, with wonderful sand, not super crowded, (lounge chairs, refrigerator, tables, glasses, covered area, clean up area and restrooms)... like your own private cabana on a public beach. Beautiful setting with tropical plants, and the rolling golf course green--- could use some lighting on the path in the evening, as you walk back from dinner...but still an easy walk). Conveniently located---and it's Maui... what are you doing in the room anyway? I am not completely turned off from the Eldorado, though I'm keeping my eyes open for the next time. I really wish they would read this, and clean up their act... because it has a lot of potential. read more

I'd give this location a solid 3.5. It's nothing fancy. A little outdated but it was nice to have a kitchen to make meals. They were remodeling the main pool when we stayed so it was closed which was disappointing but it looks like it will be awesome when it's done! The cabana on the beach was cool but I was disappointed that it closes at 5:30. It has a full kitchen for guests to use and it would have been fun to make dinner out there and watch the sunset. The front desk staff where friendly and helpful. The offer a generous military discount which is very appreciated. Last but not least, beware of the hidden fees. There is a daily resort fee of $15 and a cleaning fee the I believe was ~$110. We had a studio unit though; I'm not sure if this would be more with a bigger unit. read more

This condo complex is perfect for us. We are a family of 3 with a 5 year old. We feel very comfortable here. We can prepare meals and do our laundry here. It isn't the fanciest of hotels and you aren't beach front, but it feels like a home away from home for us. The good: Full kitchen, reasonably priced, washer and dryer in every unit, private cabana, on the quiet side of Kaanapali, beautiful grounds, beautiful pool, BBQ, lanai in every unit, free Kaanapali trolley for the resort area and a kind staff. The not so good: A little far from the beach (you can ask for the golf cart to take you to the cabana), snorkeling isn't great and no restaurants or bar on the property. read more

Ok this was my first time to visit Hawaii. My brothers & their families stayed here a few weeks prior to my stay & suggested this place. I am so thankful they did. I reserved a studio partial ocean view. I was a little nervous because I had seen a few pictures & some of the rooms looked outdated. My brother did mention that if I didn't like the room I could request a change & they would do their best to accommodate us. Well upon arriving I was greeted by friendly staff members at the front desk. After I checked in we went to our room A209. It was very nice & updated. The bed was big & comfy & there was also a couch bed as well. The floor was all tile, the kitchen had granite countertops, the appliances were all stainless steel, & all the kitchen pots & pans, utensils, plates, bowls, etc were like brand new. The washer & dryer seemed fairly new too. The shower in the bathroom was beautifully tiled with a glass wall (no shower door) but the design was very modern & I loved it. My balcony view was of the golf course, Whaler's Village & the other hotels. I could only see the partial ocean view if I stood in the balcony & looked to the right but I didn't mind that at all. The A/C worked so good too & kept us all nice & cool. I called & booked my room straight through them. I saw this place on Hotels.com & they made it look like it was about $100 cheaper. Thank God I looked at the fine print because there was a mandatory $325 fee upon arrival. When all was said & done I saved about $70 booking though the place itself. I wish I took pictures but I didn't. The beach was beautiful too. They had a golf cart you could call for a ride to the cabana. The cabana had a nice kitchen area so you could bring food, they had towels & chairs as well... read more

Really enjoyed our stay here in a private condo rental. We found the listing on VRBO . We stayed 6 nights. Very comfortable. Very clean. Comfortable King sized bed. Small kitchen,. but it works. Nice lanai. Comfortable living area. Nice big overhead fan. I can see how people could come and stay for a long stay. Shopping is near by. Longs Drugs. Safeways. Foodland. Nice staff at the reception d desk. Very quiet at night. Nice BBQ. Nice bathroom,. big shower. Our unit was J216. Always read all the fine print before you rent any place. This hotel is NOTHING like the photos that it advertises on their website-- do not be fooled. They show beautiful, new rooms with granite kitchens and updated decor. Upon checking in, we were given a room reminiscent of 1982. Dated, well worn, and not clean. We went around scrubbing down the sinks, toilet and kitchen. After entering the room I went back to the front desk to express my displeasure. When I mentioned the pictures on the website, the woman at the desk said she had no rooms like that and said she had no idea what I was talking about. Very disappointing. When you are paying $200 a night, you expect it to be upscale and reflective of the website pictures. The "high-speed" internet is more like dial up. It took hours upon hours to download anything. Don't plan on streaming anything like Netflix... it will take you all week. The beach is very nice and is great for swimming. read more

I love this place! No, it doesn't have a beach view. However, it is literally a 5 minute walk from the beach. You'll save at least a hundred dollars a night if you stay here instead of a condo right on the beach, and you can use that money to actually enjoy Maui. Plus, the condos have storage areas that you can find fun items such as: pool floaties snorkel equipment beach mats sunscreen beach balls Basically, if you get the right condo, you never have to go into an ABC store! OK, time for a six year update. Since our first visit we've been back four times, each trip getting a bit closer to the ocean finally ending up in unit J200, the closest unit to the beach, largest floorplan and the most freakingly epic condo on the island! It's probably our fault that the Giants didn't win the World Series this year as we've been back for the past three wins in 2010, 2012 & 2014 in early November (2009 spring trip) and I apologize for our lapse in vacation judgement to all the Giants fans out there! Looking into booking for summer/fall 2017, can't wait to get back! ALOHA! So I've done the big flashy resorts, high rise hotels & even a few so-so vacation rentals in the Hawaiian Islands but for our last early-winter vacation we wanted something different. Something off the beaten path, something secluded & something... well, on the less expensive side. After a little online research I found this place & I've got to say I'm either a freaking genius or the luckiest SOB in a while. So keep in mind, over 90% of the units here are privately owned vacation rental condos. You pay the resort, get daily maid service, access to their pools, clubhouse, BBQ areas & all the usual amenities you'd expect from a resort. Except that all the units are furnished by the owners with their own (& sometimes unique, eclectic tastes) gear. As I said we found a fantastic place with ocean & golf course views, barely a 5 min. walk to the beach, our own private (common use but NOBODY else used it) cabana, beach house, game room, etc. The place itself is situated right behind the Sheraton @ Black Rock Pt. & the Royal Kaanapali Golf Course. Your an 8 minute walk to Whalers Square (15 minute walk back) a 10 minute drive to Lahaina & right in the middle of golf paradise. The only real drawbacks, no on-resort restaurant (although an AWESOME bar/restraunt @ the golf course) or pool or beach food or beverage service. BUT... since it's essentially a condo place you bring what you want to drink, eat & entertain yourself with. For a fairly easy to please person like like my wife & me we were just fine with doing some local shopping (Safeway, 8 min. away) & cooking on our own. Hell, it probably saved a few hundred $$ too so not a huge imposition. It might not be for the person who wants to be pampered from sun up to sun down but for location, price & amenities we're sold ALOHA! read more

We stayed at Maui Eldorado many times in different units. We used to like coming back. But this time was disappointing. Our room H206 had nice view, quiet, close to the beach with soft sand. Unfortunately the room was not clean and very outdated. The floor, furniture and ventilation was dusty. The apartment needs some improvements. All bedding was old, yellow from previous use, with holes. Curtains had yellow stains and dirt at the bottom. Strong mildew smell in the apartment. The apartment did not have anything extra, even less than basic hotel level. This is great location and apartment but it needs to be remodeled and cleaned. read more

My wife and I recently spent a week here and loved it. Most of the other reviews are pretty spot on so I'll keep this brief: PROS: + Fantastic location. It's just a few miles away from shopping/restaurants but far enough away to feel like you're "away from it all". + Friendly service. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. + "Private" Cabana for residents and registered guests. Not too much there from an amenity standpoint but it's nice to have a place to relax that's near the beach. + Condos have a full kitchen and air conditioning. NEUTRAL: ? Most of the residents who were vacationing there seemed older. That probably sounds a bit negative but no complaints here! In fact, it was nice to have a quiet place to relax. Just thought I'd mention it in case you're looking for a lively party atmosphere. ? The beach is a little bit of a walk (about 1/4 of a mile) ? The facility itself is on the older side. It's well kept but can seem dated and doesn't necessarily give off a "luxurious" vibe. ? Internet speeds are alright but not amazing (~ 1 Mbps) CONS: - None. read more

We had a partial ocean view studio with kitchen, it was HUGE! Nicely decorated, definitely felt like it was our home away from home. There was a full kitchen, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and the bathroom had a jacuzzi! The lanai was also huge! There was a nice little BBQ too! We were always able to get a parking space right in the front (since our room was right above the lobby). ALL of the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful. We are definitely coming back here! Maybe next time it won't be so cold so we can actually go down to their cabana! read more

We stayed at the Maui Eldorado and let me first say that this is probably the best deal for the money you'll find on Maui! The rate was good ($155/night for a Studio with partial ocean view, but this was slightly discounted as it was with a wedding group), and we were upgraded to a 1-bedroom which was HUGE... I think it was bigger than the last place we lived! It had two full bathrooms, a well-equipped full kitchen, separate living room, master bedroom, and GIGANTIC deck with dining table and lounge chairs. It was immaculately clean, and service was friendly. All units have W/D which is really nice. Parking is $7/day and wi-fi is included. The beach access isn't bad, with a 5 minute walk down to the beach (or a quick call will give you a golf cart ride to the cabana), but it's not as easy as just walking out your door and onto the beach. I know a lot of it depends on which room you stay in as they are individually owned, but the property seems to lack the Hawaiian charm we've found elsewhere. You can walk down to Black Rock for snorkeling, but we found significantly better snorkeling in South Maui (Kihei/Wailea/Makena areas). We also liked the beaches better in South Maui. I think that the Maui Eldorado would be an excellent choice for families who want the amenities of a kitchen, washer/dryer, more space, and to take the kids to the beach for the day. As a younger married couple, we were a little bored here and didn't like the $20 cab ride to Lahaina for some nightlife. Whaler's Village (shops and restaurants) is about a mile away, but it is more family-oriented and wraps up relatively early. read more

My Husband and I stayed here for three days for our honeymoon. We were not thoroughly impressed with our room it was a little outdated and old and didn't even come with the shower curtain and then once we got a shower curtain and shower rod fell down and almost hit us. The staff was friendly, though, and they gave us a honeymoon gift of a bottle of wine and fixed the shower. The cleaning fee was $95 for a studio and a resort fee of $12/day on top of the regular room rate of $155/night. I don't think it was worth it but it does have private beach access which was nice. The AC worked okay and had to be on most of the time for it not to reach 85 in the room. We are now at a different condo and it is beautiful. I was invited to a wedding in Maui during October. Do I need a better excuse for a vacation? I was looking for something affordable and in walking distance to where the wedding was taking place. The Eldorado Resort was the answer I was looking for. To rent a one bedroom suite was a little over $100 a night which was way cheaper than what the rest of my friends were paying elsewhere. Thankfully the price did not dictate the quality of the resort. I am by no means particular when it comes to sleeping arrangements especially because 90% of the vacation is spent outside of the room BUT cleanliness and location is very important to me and this place had both. What I didn't realize before settling in was that the room I stayed in was owned by someone and they rent it out when they're not around. So the prices will vary and all the rooms are independent from one another. My particular room which was bigger than I needed had a washer/dryer, full kitchen, and cozy patio overlooking a small pool and partial beach view. Couldn't have asked for a better set-up than that and you can believe I'll be back if I ever find myself heading to Maui again. read more

Price: We paid ~$150/night to stay in a 1BR/1BA condo: 2 queen beds and 1 sofa bed. Fully stocked kitchen, balcony, TV, cable... Basically, all of the fixings you would have if it were your condo! It was very spacious for our family of four (around 7 to 800 square feet). For the space and location, $150 is extremely competitive and reasonable. Location: If you live in J or H, your unit is a MUCH closer walk to the beach than if you were in the back of the resort. From there, its a 5 minute walk to the cabana... and you get great views of the golf course and ocean. FYI, the front desk/market delivers sandwiches and drinks to the cabana. Two thoughts: 1. The condition and experience of the condo you stay at will depend heavily on the owner's investment in the property. We stayed in two different condos and could see the difference in maintenance and quality. Both were very good--one was just a lot better (I want to say H104?? If that unit even exists). 2. The difference between this and some of the hotels/timeshares on Kaanapali beach or near Whaler's village is really the comfortable feel of each condo. Personally, I prefer to pay around the same price (and arguably lower in most cases) for a larger unit, even if it is a little bit older and not as modern or luxurious as some of the timeshares around. My family and I enjoyed the unpretentious and warm feel of this particular resort and condo, and can't wait to go back. tl;dr If you are looking for a super sleek, modern and luxurious resort, then this is not the place for you. For those who prefer a comfortable, home-y stay in Maui, I would highly recommend. read more

I haven't made a Yelp review in years, but after the horrendous experience myself & my family had at El Dorado, I couldn't wait to jump at the opportunity to warn others of this place. Upon arrival, my family & I had stopped at Costco to pick up food for the week. We shuttled from the airport to El Dorado with $600 worth of food in tow. Check in time was 3pm, which was perfectly fine with us. 3pm comes around, & the man at the front desk says our room is now ready. So we lugged all of our food and drinks up to our condo door where we were greeted by two rude maids saying we, in fact, could not come in. It wasn't until 2.5 hours later that the maids were finished cleaning, leaving us literally sitting in a hallway, waiting and hoping our food would not spoil. Unacceptable. Fast forward a few days to when my boyfriend & I are waiting in the lobby to catch a cab for our excursion: inside the lobby is a continental breakfast area (typical for any standard hotel/condo). But apparently, for whatever reason, you are only allowed this breakfast on your first day (...what?!). Unbeknownst to me, I politely asked for a cup of black coffee & was rudely told "no" by the front desk, that it's "only for your first day". I stated how horrible our first day was & no one in our party accessed the breakfast & I pretty much got shrugged off. Come on, people. You can't give me a Dixie cup filled with black coffee? Are you hurting THAT bad? Fast forward a few days later, my entire family & I were planning a dinner at the condo when we received a phone call that a repair man was coming to fix the refrigerator (which was working perfectly) between 1-4pm. Of course, he comes at 4, leaving us kicked out of our kitchen until he's done. Plans ruined. We made the best of the situation & went out to eat, & then come back to the room with none of our key entry cards working. NONE OF THEM, mind you there are 6 people in our party. Kinda disheartening knowing a stranger was in our condo with our belongings & now our key cards don't work. Lastly, the lack of hospitality at the El Dorado is appalling. One of my family members was disabled with a cane & knee brace. Walking for him was extremely difficult & painful. Our condo was quite the walk from the condo lobby, but they do have golf carts should you need assistance getting to your room. We came from Lahaina in a cab, into the lobby & asked for a golf cart to escort my family member to our room. The extremely rude man at the front desk simply said "no one is available right now. He has to walk." ...like, really? Isn't your JOB to ensure customer satisfaction? FIND someone. Sure, it may take a few minutes, but to completely dismiss a man with a disability like he did, pissed me off. Don't get me wrong, the complexes themselves are beautiful with absolutely stunning views. But the rude, careless staff put a downer on the experience. Needless to say, we will NOT be back. Spend your money at a complex that actually cares about you staying with them, which you won't find here. read more

Couldn't decide between rating this place 2 or 3 stars. The location is nice, reasonable price and free parking and wifi. But....I should have been prepared considering their website has almost no info. We got here Friday, the room is really old, not a single piece of seating has a cushion with any cushion in it (we have been piling throw pillows and bed pillows just to sit on the couch). When we got to our room, someone fixing the a/c forgot to replace the vent and left it sitting, with the tools, on the dresser. One of the TVs was missing the remotes and our phone didn't work (a maintenance guy took it and it is now Wed and we haven't seen a phone yet). Thank goodness for cell phones. There is no information about any local amenities (we found out yesterday there is a free trolley to the major hotels in Kaanapali from our area - would have been nice to know). The beds are awful. The doors all stick and the place inside could use a deep cleaning and a paint job (new carpet, new couches and new mattresses). The pros? Well, it has a kitchen (I have a kid with lots of food issues, so is was a necessity). Washer/Dryer, a big plus, even gave us 2 single use laundry detergent packs. Pretty quiet, and not too crowded. All in all about a 2.5. Next time I would look for a different condo. read more

Valentine's day plus President's day weekend, all hotels on Maui were packed and fully booked except for the 5000-7000/night suites at Four Seasons or Grand Wailea. I was not about to spend THAT much. Thankfully, some friends found a condo for us. The Eldorado is in Kaanapali, and if you are staying there during whale season, like us, there is a 100% chance that you will spot some. They have three pools on the property, a five minute walk to the shore through the golf course, shuttle services, access to the shoreline cabana, which provided comfort while visiting the beach. The best part was our room. We stayed in I202. From the looks of it, the property is old and I'm sure there were many units that needed upgrades. We had ourselves a one bedroom with two queens. The couch was a large sectional, fully functional kitchen equipped with bbq utensils, cupcake pans, electronic hand mixer and a blender. Very clean interior and the kitchen is very modern. The only thing I'd change is the furniture. Perhaps an upgrade from the old wicker. Overall, my kids and husband loved it. I would definitely return and request for this room again. read more

This was actually a pretty cool place to stay. We wanted to be close to the beach and stay somewhere slightly more quiet than the huge touristy mega resorts. This condo complex worked out great. The condo was fairly modern, comfortable, quiet, and affordable. The complex has a really great private beach and cabana (comes in handy - you can bring your own cocktails and lunch). I'd definitely stay here again. Also, there were geckos everywhere outside. So cool. There are lots of places to eat and shop nearby - Whaler's Village is super close. The complex is also right next to Black Rock - for some amazing snorkeling - just swim around the jetty. It was just incredible. read more

My parents own a timeshare, so I've stayed at a lot of condos during my life and I thought this one was really nice. It's not much to look at from the outside, but the inside of our unit was really clean and modern. I loved the super cute kitchen that looked straight out the pages of an Ikea catalog! There was also a huge lanai and balconies off of both bedrooms. I was also surprised to discover that they had free wired internet, but who brings their laptop to Maui?! The only real disappointment was that the 2nd bedroom had 2 twin beds instead of 1 big one. I don't know if you can request otherwise, but that's what we ended up with. The beach was about a 10 minute walk from our unit - all you had to do was illegally cross the golf course. Don't worry, no one noticed! The beach is right next to Black Rock which is famous for snorkeling, but I didn't see anything that interesting. Maybe I didn't go out far enough? The water here is really calm, so not too good for body surfing, but it's nice to splash around and look for sea glass. There is also a super convenient cabana just for Eldorado guests. It's more like an apartment than a cabana in that they have a fridge, ice, cups, books, towels, restrooms, everything but a bed! In addition to the beach, there are also 3 small-ish swimming pools. Nothing to really rave about there. The Eldorado is also in walking distance to the Fairway Shops and Whalers Village. There is also a free trolley bus that comes around and will take you to Whalers Village or any of the nearby resorts. The resort is only a few minutes drive to Lahaina and Kapalua in either direction and about 30-40 minutes to Wailea. We booked directly through Outrigger and got the best rate that way. I guess you just need to shop around. We found this place just in time since our Mexico trip got cancelled on short notice (damn you swine flu). It's a great place for families or even for just couples looking to relax. read more
