(The building is on the corner of 38th & Butler Streets, and "Esquina" means "corner.") My husband and I ate one dinner here as part of a Yelp Experience. (I reviewed my free meal under the listing for that event.) My husband is not a Yelper, so he paid for his meal. Guacamole and tostadas - 4.5 stars - This appetizer was a large size. The tostadas were nicely crispy and had the perfect amount of salt. The guacamole was fresh. My husband said that it was probably the best value that we have even gotten for chips and guacamole at any restaurant. Carne-asada street tacos - 3.5 stars - Again, the serving size was large. The tortillas reminded me a bit of my husband's Mexican grandma's tortillas. As for the carne-asada meat, my husband said, "I don't know what that was supposed to be." Eek! However, he added, "The beans and rice are very good. There's definitely a Mexican in that kitchen." Well, I do not know who the chefs are, but I hope that they accept that last comment as a compliment. These two menu items cost $42 plus tax and tip.

The staff were all really friendly and accommodating. Mezcal Margarita - sticky, sweet, sour, just the right hit of smokiness. Strawberry Margarita (on the rocks) - perfect sour base, the strawberry takes it to another level. Strawberry Mojito - super minty, insanely refreshing. Chorizo Cheese Dip - salty, savory, creamy perfection. We almost licked the bowl clean, no lies. Queso birria Tacos (w/ rice & beans) - I'm calling it right now: hands down the best birria I've EVER had. The corn tortillas were crisped to perfection. Plus, cilantro on the side? Huge win in my book. Chicken Chimichanga - totally loaded and the chicken was so juicy and well-seasoned. The queso on top was fire!

I probably should have ordered some salsa or hot sauce on the side, and it would have been nice to be prompted for that option. Overall, this is a comfortable destination. Reasonable food. Excellent service. Nice space.

One even seated a table from behind the bar! Bonus points for service! This is a 4 1/2-star review --- leaning 5. We ordered takeout to take to some friends' BYOF wine bar, so I'll look for my 5-star experience when we return soon in person! Food: We shared some seriously awesome ceviche. I was a bit alarmed at the $16 price tag, but it was totally worth it. There's a lot of shrimp with little filler. The seafood was plump with citrusy goodness - not too "cooked" - and packed a bit of heat, which hubs & I love. The enchiladas y mole was GREAT!! I'd prefer dark meat chicken, but props for the abundance of white meat! The mole was soooooo flavorful - def some heat mixed with a great cinnamony zing. The rice & black beans were really good. The guac y chips was so fresh and flavorful. (PS - that is one weird "coffee cup" style styrofoam takeout cup for the guac! Boo!!) The tomatillo salsa was not so bueno. Def wanna try the roja & the other type of salsa (forgot the flavor). Cannot wait to return!!!!

I also enjoyed the mezcal mule even though I'm not a huge fan of carbonated drinks. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chipotle chicken, the rice, refried beans, and chicken mixed together amazingly and the entire dish was packed with flavor. The shrimp ceviche was also solid and quite large for the price. Finally, the churros were great, a bit sweet for me but the churro and the whipped cream go together nicely to create a joyous experience. Potentially even better than the food are the vibes and service, all of the waiters and owners are super nice and willing to interact with customers, definitely recommend coming here with a couple of friends and just enjoy the overall experience with great food! 4.9/5

They had a whole system in place around ordering in person, but I just placed an order on the web ahead of time. Either way, the process was easy enough, and the staff all seemed very capable and kind. In terms of the food, it was generally good. I ordered a few different soft tacos (meaning corn tortillas) with some vegetarian fillings. It was nice to see the vegetable fillings on the menu, and they seemed to be well executed. Not life changing, but well executed. The chips were great, with just enough salt and a substantial thickness. The kind of chip that would easily survive some guacamole. On the other hand, the default salsa that came with the chips seemed off. I wish I would have ordered a side of some other style of salsa to compare, but I also had some decent salsa already in my fridge. The tamale was excellent: clearly made with some care. I particularly liked that they offered a vegetarian filling. All told, this seems like a fun destination for a nice day when you're walking around the area.

When it first arrived, we were skeptical if they actually gave us enough for 10 people, but it was more than enough and everything was soooo good! They serve everything in individual containers. The soft tacos are heated and then placed in the sheet pan, so they aren't just stone cold from like a bag from the grocery store. The meats are plentiful and hilariously labeled in the big box! The toppings were plentiful and so were the tortilla chips! Plus... they give you enough bowls and forks for probably close to 25 people!!! The care and prep to do a large group order like this is above and beyond. Honestly, it was more fun to build your own tacos and nachos than it is to unwrap their normal takeout tacos!
