A large group of us chose Low Key Taco for a colleagues farewell happy hour. The weather wasn't ideal; there was a chance of rain, of course. Luckily, Low Key Taco has a covered patio and bar area outside so you can enjoy the warmth without the risk of getting rained on. The bartenders were extremely friendly and not at all overwhelmed by the quantity of people. They kept our cards for our open tabs, since we were all paying separately. This was our 2nd time at lowkey taco, we were seated immediately, which is nice for a weekend. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. My husband and I both got taco platters. I had the Cluck Norris and the Eric Carne Estrada. I also added fries to my platter. The tacos were okay, i definitely think the steak could of been seasoned better, usually steak tacos are my fave. But the meat was a little bland. They are over stuffed tacos, which is definitely nice! The cluck Norris was my fave, the chicken was juicy and crispy. Ordered takeout from here. Service was good, the server had my food ready when I arrived and was friendly. Casual spot with music and a nice patio. I really wanted traditional tacos, and didn't see them as an option on uber eats or door dash, so I went with the carne estrada, frying nemo, and the smoky chicken taco. The carne estrada was the best one and I enjoyed the chimichurri sauce. The other two were just ok. I can see why people would like them because they're different, but I don't think they're for me. Coming from someone that likes sweet fruity drinks it was a lot...however they definitely had a good amount of alcohol. So if you're good with sweet it's great. It's also a great deal to do basically bottomless margs for brunch you get your money worth if you have two margs and if you can get through all 5 you'll feel amazing!! Was going to give this 1 star, but the bartender was very cool and competent, and the refried beans were ok. their 'brisket' was tough, stringy, and flavorless. I've come a few times Solely for the dip trio: guac of some sort, queso of some type, and a salsa. Chips til you explode and all for $15! I've had plain and spicy guac and for me the spicy was too spicy. The salsa was just poured over the already prepared guac instead of being mixed in. I love the red salad! Let's start by saying, the traditional queso is some of the best. I am so picky about my queso dip and this one is excellent. We go the $15 choose tour (3) dips: spicy guac; traditional queso; habanero salsa were what we chose. All 3 were so good and highly recommended but you def have to like spice to get the spicy and habanero options! For our taco platter entrees, you can get 2 for $13.50 or 3 for $16.50. All tacos come with rice and refried beans! I had the Cluck Norris soft shell flour tacos - extremely filling and great flavor with fried chicken, YUM! My husband got the Frying Nemo (); Young Cheesy () and the Fajita Dreams ()! He was a big fan of the 2 but the YC was dried out in his opinion. Ample portions and appealing presentations. My buddy got the 3 taco platter and he struggled to finish it. I had a taco salad which was excellent, I ate most of the house made tortilla bowl. My big hit was the Reaper Sauce. Carolina Reaper sweet and hot sauce will give you a great tingle without burning your belly. I wish they bottled that stuff!!! It was our fist time trying this place. We thought they were closed, they really need like an open sign .. but once we entered the place was really nice and loved the decor. Yum yum yum. Was in town for a few days and Lowkey Taco was close to our hotel so we decided to check it out. From the moment we walked in the staff was friendly and accommodating. I got the bang bang shrimp tacos and the mahi tacos and when I tell you they were delicious but also filling I was expecting smaller tacos but was so pleasantly surprised by how much food we got. We couldn't stop talking about how good it all was. I also got a mango margarita and that was amazing! I can't remember our servers name but I loved that she wasn't the only person who touched our table. Seems like the staff helps each other out and we loved that! We also had a pup with us and they brought him a dog bowl so definitely pet friendly and sitting outside gave us a beautiful view of the sunset! This place was jamming with amazing music and really decorated for Christmas! We sat at the bar and Sam the bartender was amazing at everything! We got the trio appetizer and picked the Royo salsa, the traditional guacamole, and traditional queso...our favorite out of the three. We then mixed and matched our tacos. We really liked all four we picked, but we were stuffed after all the chips. Sam was so considerate and brought a bag of chips to take home, containers for all three of our dips we had left, a container for our extra tacos and rice, and a bag for everything to go home in. After a recent trip to Morgantown, wanted to try out Lowkey Taco in Pittsburgh for a quick lunch. The restaurant's interior is spacious and the walls are painted with cartoon characters like Yosemite Sam and the Mario Brothers. Sam was our server and she greeted us with a smile and friendly personality. She brought over their spicy guacamole and a ton of chips. After a quick stir, the guacamole was excellent and a nice kick to it. We ordered the Bidacious Burris tacos which were three braised and shredded meat tacos with onions, cilantro, mozzarella that you dip in a sauce. The taste and texture was fantastic. Sam checked on us regularly and refilled our soft drinks and chips. I highly recommend Lowkey Tacos for the great food and service and will return on a next trip to Pittsburgh. read more

Came back here with my parents this past weekend and honestly did not have a great experience. The restaurant was mostly empty so we were seated immediately. I got shrimp and chicken tacos with waffles fries as my side, which tasted great. My parents got fish tacos, and were disappointed that one of the pieces they got wasn't even fish. After asking the server and the chef, turns out it was just a piece breading. I understand that the mistake happened because they don't bread the fish themselves, but the restaurant should keep a closer eye on what's going in each dish. The server and manager were great with handing the situation, but I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I ordered chips and salsa, a blood-orange margarita, and the birria tacos. The highlight of my meal was the birria tacos, which were full-flavored both inside the tacos and in the broth. The tacos were filling and reasonably priced. The margarita and chips and salsa were not my favorites. The roja salsa (mild) tasted just slightly better than a can of plain red tomato sauce. The consistency closely resembled spaghetti sauce. The margarita was on the sweeter side and was clearly flavored using a mix. For the price however, I was not surprised. Definitely skip if you are looking for fresh flavors. The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor dining options with umbrella-cover available for several tables to keep out of the sun. I would consider them for carry-out tacos during a future trip to Robinson, but next time I'm passing on chips and drinks. read more

First off, I want to say I was really excited to try this place while staying in the area for the week and seeing it on Yelp prior to my visit and give it a great review, but what I want and what is the truth is not the same thing. I pulled into the parking lot at around 8 pm on a Thursday evening excited to eat some vegan or vegetarian tacos, chips & reaper queso and also have some margaritas. The whole parking lot in front of this place was nearly full, which is a good sign but I soon realized that all of the vehicles were at The Yard next door to this place because there was literally only ten people inside when we walked in and that included the three people at the bar and maybe only five more people total came in afterwards in the whole hour we were there and the people beside us which was three adults and a baby left soon after we arrived and another couple did too. So you'd think you'd get great service when a place is nearly empty and not be rushed at all. I'd also like to think when you see a couple of new faces which probably happens quite often since this area is basically a shopping/sleeping/eating area for the nearby airport since downtown Pittsburgh is roughly 30-40 minutes away depending on what time of the day it is or which part you're coming from without heavy traffic. Most people on that side of I-79 would never drive all the way to Robinson just to eat tacos here when there is a ton of amazing places to enjoy tacos in a nice and welcoming area like Lawrenceville or the Strip District, just to name a few. After being seated by a hostess with zero personality who didn't smile at all(which I noticed was a thing here) I was approached by the redheaded bartender who was also our waitress too(we weren't even sitting at the bar) and all while another waitress was serving the only other couple eating here that wasn't sitting at the bar either. This place isn't that big at all btw and the waitress who was servicing the couple a few tables down from us you would have thought would have also been our waitress too but nope. Weird! I ordered a couple margaritas for us to get started and then later decided to order the trinity app which is a combination of chips and three dips. We decided on the mild salsa, guacamole and reaper queso. The chips were the greasiest chips I have ever ate in my entire life and cut way too thick. The salsa was mediocre at best, the guac wasn't flavorful at all and the so called reaper queso wasn't hot like they claimed and bland tasting too. Then after ordering a couple more overpriced sugary margaritas with what seemed like maybe not even one shot of tequila I also ordered a Modelo Especial(best thing here). Not long after that I decided on the two taco platter. I ordered the Herbal Edible which is a vegan taco with impossible meat for me and the Lieutenant Dan for my date. I ordered them both with the hard corn shells which was a huge mistake. They were also super greasy and cut too thick as well. My impossible meat substitute had zero flavor and my date said her shrimp taco was too spicy which it wasn't supposed to be at all. We didn't finish them. The rice and beans were dry and tasted like cardboard, literally! I had one bite and didn't finish them either. So while drinking our drinks and picking at the greasy chips and bland dips we were enjoying our conversation when the bartender asked if we would like to go containers for the chips and dips and I said yes but I don't know why because I literally threw them away as soon as we got back to the hotel. The kicker to this night was the almost empty restaurant/bar that didn't close for another two more hours plus and we were going to stay for a while and order more drinks, the bartender/waitress walks over and sits the bill on the table without even asking if we wanted anything else. We were like WTF!!! I never asked for the bill but I guess she was too busy talking to the three people at the bar who were probably her friends and was too busy giving them free drinks for the five dollar tip she received, probably! (Assuming) She literally walked over two more times in two minutes to see if I had placed the card or cash in the bill folder and my date said, "WTF is wrong with that woman, is she in a hurry!?" So at that point I laughed and put cash in the bill folder and gave her a 25% too which regardless of her shitty service and impatient nature and crappy food I'm not a cheap person in any way whatsoever. As soon as she saw me put the cash in the folder she comes over right away and grabs it and didn't say, I'll bring your change back or anything, just grabs it and walks away. No thank you, nothing! Zero gratitude. Needless to say, I'll never revisit this place and never recommend it to any of my business associates or any of my many friends in the greater Pittsburgh area either. TBH: Taco Bell is five stars compared to this place. Let that sink in! read more

Needed to make a stop at IKEA and before we realized it, it was 8:00 PM and we were hungry. Found our way over to Lowkey Taco and had a seat at the bar. I had a house margarita, rocks. If I'm being honest it was too sweet for me but the bartender was super friendly and the ambience was just right for a Saturday night. Busy and active but not overwhelming that you felt like everyone was in on your conversation. We ordered a trio of dipping sauces for our chips. Salsa, guacamole (which was great) and chori-queso (which was freaking amazing). It was a bit annoying that we had to pay for chips but the salsa and sauce options made up for it. And then we both ordered a couple tacos a piece. Let me say the tacos were very hefty. I was picturing a couple handheld street style tacos, but as you can see in the picture, these had substance. Really liked the non traditional take on tacos in this place! Had ordered a take out and the taco was packed really well - sadly the soft shell got soggy by the time I came home. But that was totally on me though. Ordered a combination of the 2 vegetarian fillings option they have. One is a Herbal Edible - with has impossible meat and the other was The Food Your Food Eats - a very funky name which I liked. It definitely makes an impression on the people reading the menu! Both taco fillings were very good. They give a side of rice and beans. The filling inside is quite heavy with fresh ingredients - definitely worth the $$. Not going to lie, I was originally drawn to Lowkey Taco to try one of their White Claw slushees that they posted about on Instagram... the tacos were an afterthought. Reading through the menu, we already knew we were in for a treat. Once reading the hilarious names of the tacos, we realized Lowkey is owned by the same guys as The Yard (also located right next door if you're in the mood for grilled cheese). We each decided on the three taco platter, which included rice and beans or waffle fries (for an additional price). There were so many tacos to choose from, so definitely something for everyone, including pork, chicken, beef, and vegetarian options, too. I don't remember the names of the tacos we got, but they were all delicious, so you truly cannot go wrong! If you're taking your order to-go, skip the waffle fries. By the time we got home, they were kind of soggy and chewy, and I wish I would've stuck with the rice and beans. Unfortunately, the White Claw slushees weren't freezing, so they ended up giving us a container of the liquid to blend with ice at home. It was still good but definitely not the same. read more

This was a spur of the moment stop. Upon entry we were greeted with smiles, seated pretty quickly. The breeze throughout was nice with our server Jacob being very prompt and polite. The decor at Lowkey is high-key fantastic. The amazing taco names, dancing lights, and music make me so happy. The service was attentive and good as well. However, the food is just lacking a bit. I ordered a Lieutenant Dan. The kimchi cucumbers and carrots were great and I enjoyed the crispy shrimp. I wish there had been just a tad more bang bang sauce maybe. It just needed... something. I think that would have maybe elevated this a bit. The Johnny Hopkins beef was just not quite tender enough and the soft corn tortilla couldn't hold up to the fillings.
