I tell the guy I want the knives sharpened and ready for pickup that afternoon. Simple enough, right? Wrong. He informs me they ship the knives off to New York, and it takes 2-3 weeks. Weeks. Because clearly, these knives must undergo a spiritual journey before they're deemed worthy of being sharp again. I explain they aren't *that* dull and ask if they can just sharpen them in-house. He says they can--oh, but not the serrated knives, can opener, or scissors. Sure, no problem. I'll take those magical items home and entrust him with just the straight edges. Then he drops another gem: they can "touch up" the knives. Fine by me, as long as I get them back in the afternoon. But wait! Plot twist--he suddenly claims it'll take 2-3 *days* because they "have an event." An event? Are the knives the keynote speakers? Because the store was as empty as my patience at that point. I looked around, saw no sign of this mysterious "event," and finally hit my limit. I stormed out, muttering about how I'd apparently wandered into the Theater of the Absurd. Honestly, what a circus.

But I knew nothing of central vacuums. The label on the old vac said "BEAM" so googling I go, and off I went to the Beam store. I walked in with 100 questions. To my absolute shock, they pulled up the original invoice, PAPER INVOICE, from a file cabinet that was completely legible with all of the info from my house's installation over 30 years ago. Wow. Talk about organized. Now, I can look at upgrades to my existing unit that STILL WORKS. The people here were extremely helpful and their units are beautiful. They answered all my questions and were so friendly. I got prices ($$$$) and immediately went home and started searching online. It appears that you can only purchase a Beam central vacuum from a dealer within 100 miles of your home, to eliminate online purchases or something. Booo. I was trying to avoid my ridiculous local sales tax rates. I'll be back to this location to get my vacuum, which can be either installed yourself or installed by them. You can walk in and walk out with a system, no ordering needed. And, they have brass wall outlets! Looking forward to my own space age vac!

I was trying to pick up some wick sternos for work, and I asked where they were. An employee took…read moreme to the aisle. I asked if they were the wick burning or gel to make sure I got the correct product, and the employee said sorry all we have are gel. Upon closer inspection of the sterno boxes they said "wick chafing fuel" so I mentioned it. The employee then said they were not gel. All their flat-cap sternos are rusted, apparently because one burst open on the rest according to the employee. Not very reassuring... I asked if I could uncap one to see if the wick was correct and neither the employee or I could get the cap undone. I asked if he had any tools we could use. He went to the back said all the guys were out with tools and then left me in the aisle and headed back up front. Not the greatest customer service or knowledge on their part...

They'll do just about anything to accommodate their regulars, no matter how crazy (trust me, they've done some really off the wall special orders for me over the years!), and their prices are generally pretty good. Their selection isn't Jay Asia (my lord and saviour since they opened in the 80's!), but they are also serving a different clientele. Good guys, highly recommended.

I was looking for a new refrigerator for my garage so I didn't want to spend a ton of money, plus I knew what I relatively looking for. The salesperson was nice enough, somewhat helpful, but that's about it. It was nothing exceptional or anything, but I also didn't need much. The reason for the horrible review is everything that came after the purchase itself. 1) Setting up delivery is crap. You call a number and I'm convinced no one ever answers the phone. You leave your information and get a call back. You tell them what day you're looking at and when they call back they let you know if it's available or not. I called first thing in the AM and didn't get a call back until almost 5pm. I called multiple times throughout the day to see if I'd ever get a live person, but never did. 2) When I was called back, I was given one of the days I was available, but no time frame was available to me right then and there. I was told I would get a 3 hour window via text the night before. I would also get a phone call approximately 20-30 minutes prior to delivery that they were on their way. 3) the night before my delivery date came and went. No text. I had no idea when they would show up to deliver or if they even would deliver. 4) Day of delivery I am home all day, but 30 minutes due to having to run kids around. That apparently was the 30 minutes in which they showed up at my house. No phone to tell me they were on their way. No text to say they were on their way. Nothing. 5) They delivered my fridge in the middle of my driveway and left. They did not call to tell me they were doing that, they did not remove the old fridge that was included in their delivery service, etc. 6) I get home and find said fridge on my driveway. I call the delivery people right away, but as always, no one answers the phone. I'm still waiting for a call back. I called the store and told them what as going on and was transferred to customer service where I sat on hold for several minutes before speaking with someone. Explain what happened, but she's in another state and can't help me right then. She has to speak with the store to get more information and then call me back. It has now been 2+ weeks since I have repeatedly called this store, delivery and supposed customer service. I have received NO call backs, NO resolution, still have come back to the old refrigerator, etc. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. I have no idea how in the world they have as high of a rating as they do. NEVER GO HERE! I would never do business with this company again. I read the reviews, spoke with others about this place and was hoping it was going to be worth it, but it's just not. Their service leaves a lot to be desired. And getting any answers is like pulling teeth. Go anywhere else. ANYWHERE.
