Instead of immediately pushing a service call, Matt took the time to ask thoughtful questions, helped us identify exactly what kind of fireplace set we had, and even sent us a video walking us step-by-step through how to light our specific model. He told us to call him back if it worked so we could potentially save the cost of a service visit -- and it did! When we called back, Matt didn't stop there. He went on to give us incredibly helpful guidance on proper cleaning and ongoing maintenance, explaining things clearly and patiently. On top of that, he helped us identify the right modification for a remote start we're considering and even checked whether they had it in stock. The level of care, honesty, and expertise was outstanding. The day they were supposed to come out they no showed and called at the end of the day to reschedule another week out and stated we were "lucky" they were servicing us at all because over 17 years ago a former company and former ownership didn't pay a bill. When we contacted Hearthside to inform them we did not want to do business with them anymore and we wanted a refund for the service call that did not repair anything, we were told to "F" off by the owner.
