This was, without exaggeration, the worst customer experience I've ever had. Every single item I needed for a straightforward shed project had to be special‑ordered. Not one delivery date they provided was accurate--every promised date ended up being pushed more than 30 days past what I was told at purchase. When I attempted to cancel, they couldn't even manage that. First I was told the vendor hadn't acknowledged the order, so cancellation wasn't possible. After escalating through customer service, the store supervisor, and finally the store manager, suddenly the order was acknowledged--but now they 'needed to contact the vendor' before canceling. Meanwhile, the charge had already hit my credit card. To make matters worse, despite spending nearly $10,000, not a single item qualified for free shipping. Stores like Menards and Home Depot waive shipping on orders over $200 without hesitation. This place operates like wolves in sheepskin. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

Have used this location six times and the fee to apply installation is worth it. They assist with finding scheduling and making that appointment. They have new upgrades for every room including exterior windows. Plus the store is huge and fun to shop at. When the fan on the vaulted ceiling needed replacing the person they sent was nearly 7 feet tall and very experienced ...and he made the job look super easy! Probably my favorite Lowe's store in the area. The store is always stocked and the staff is super friendly and always making great suggestions when you're looking to do a project. They are also quick to share the amazing deals that are going on too. For this particular visit, we went to get a new Christmas tree. And while folks went feral for trees, we had our eye on only one, and they didn't have any on the floor. This one gentlemen noticed that we were looking at it and came us to us to tell us they had one left and he's happy to grab it for us. And he did! We were in and out in 10 minutes while others were still fighting over trees. He also shared with us some of the other deals that were going on and next thing we knew we walked out with a cart and car full of things we didn't know we needed but were so fun we couldn't say no! One of your team members a lady was very rude to us today... It was closing time and she was barely locking the doors and didn't offer to open for us even though the other side wasn't locked. She had us go to the furthest door to exit and both my husband and I can barely walk because we have disabilities! Lowes should teach their employees to be more understanding with their customers especially around the holidays and to those who have disabilities! Update - after 5 weeks we finally were given a date for the installation of the garage door opener we purchased at Lowe's. Only to be texted the day before the installation was to occur that they did not have an installer and they would have to reschedule! This is not acceptable to wait over 5 weeks to even a date for the install. Do not use this Lowe's unless you want to wait over five weeks to even get an appointment for your job to start for 8 weeks after you purchase the item to be installed! We ordered a sliding door and window from them on 5/6/2025. Lowes messed up the sliding door order and it had to be reordered from Pella which takes on average 6 weeks. The installation company has cancelled on us 4 times or they just don't show up on the scheduled date. All they say is sorry! It is now 8 months since we ordered and still no door! I have a love/hate relationship with hardware stores. I'm not a handy person, so I typically only go when I need something in particular. If I can, I get my father to take me because I am always frustrated by the huge amount of choices and the lack of employees who offer help without needing to be chased down aisles to get their attention. At Lowe's in Vernon Hills, I had a magical experience. I felt like I'd found the unicorn of hardware stores. I had a list of 4 things that I wanted to look at. Everywhere I went in the store, employees walked up to me and asked if I needed any help. It was so wonderful. One of the items that I was looking for was a new bathroom vanity. The displays had these great little cards you could take home and use for decorating inspiration. I found one that I liked the vanity and I loved how it looked on the card in a finished bathroom. I now have a full plan for my half bathroom, thanks to a free card that Lowe's offered. The store was bright, clean with a layout where it was easy for me to find everything on my list that I wanted to see. I will definitely be back! read more

This is not your typical big bog Lowe's. The people there actually TRY TO HELP YOU! I usually avoid these types of stores and choose a small Ace's or something, but nthe salespeople here are great. A gentleman named Russell, I think, helped me figure out what type of screw I needed for my antique dresser pulls. It took about 10 minutes. when they didn't have the tiny brads I needed for another project (also antique) he told me what store would be more likely to carry them. Another experience- after buying a bunch of stuff and leaving my rug behind at the checkout, Matt was really careful to label it for me to come back and pick up. The guy that works flooring (ugh! His name! Brown hair, little pony tail I think) helped me buy blinds. I was very indecisive and ignorant and he took his time pricing a few things out for me. I will say this: I was able to go in the middle of the day when the serious contractors aren't there. So that might have helped. I recommend this particular Lowe's to anyone! read more

I order 8 bag of red mulch on line to be picked up from the Vernon hills store I am a handicap cap person , I go to the garden center for the pick up the clerk told me that I have to go inside the store to customer service to get a receipt before he can load it to the car so I had to park my car go inside and do that , I go back drive my car to pick up the mulch no one was their so I had to park my car again go inside and request that some one to load my car I go back to my car drive to the loading zone I open trunk of the car the trunk was to small to fit all 8 bags so I open the car he added 3 more bags I told him you loaded only 7 he insist that he loaded 8 when I came home I found some one to unload the mulch they were 7 bags not 8 I called the 800 number that is on the receipt I was on the telephone for 59 minutes and at the end they said contact the store so I called the store I requested to talk to a manager but Delin from customer service said no manager is available he offer me to come back to the store to pick the missing bag I told him who will pay for my gas I am 12 miles away from the store one way he said the best we can do is refund back for the missing bag so I left my phone number for a manager to call me back ? About 3:15 p.m. 6.8.20 Lowes Vernon Hills. COVID19 seems to have frayed the company's abilities. To distance and stay safe, I ordered a sprayer online, expecting to pick up the item the next day. The order and confirming email was smooth. What was not smooth was the pickup. A sign in the parking lot indicated the turn to the doorway for pickup. That's where it stopped. I got out of my car and asked another customer who was standing next to his truck if the employees came out. He said no, go in and it's a long wait. He was not happy. I was hoping for someone to greet me outside and get the identified item. Instead, I walked in and saw a department marked 'Customer Service' and 'Returns'--no sign for pickups. There was a sign for customers, requiring the wearing of masks. Apparently, this is not enforced since I saw a customer not wearing a mask spend 10 minutes working with a clerk on exchanges. When it was my turn, I handed the clerk all the information. It then took him 10 minutes to turn over the package. I've ordered and picked up from a competitor down the street whom I'm trying not to use; this type of thing takes them 2 minutes. Before, I've had the feeling that this Lowes has people working who are short of their last day of orientation and don't know their store or its products. On this day, I felt like the clerk was never told to work efficiently or ever was apprised of what was going on with their operation. How about some useful signage and accurate guidance? I am Glad I moved so close to this Lowe's last year and the customer service team is always helpful. I bought tools , materials, and even décor for my home at this location. I'll be coming back for years to come. Another one of my favorite places to visit.  There service here is usually very good. You can pretty much always find someone knowledgeable and willing to help usually only an aisle away.  The items here is pretty specific to their own. Sometimes you can find similar items at the competitor but mostly exclusive to LOWES.   Depending what I need this is either my store or not.  This city offers three big box hardware stores and each offers their own.  Know before you go or just do what I do Visit. I pulled out the receipt at the customer service desk. I was returning moth traps . The worker remarked that I had actually purchased these at Home Depot. Feeling foolish,I apologized and started to pack up. He said not to worry,they sell the same product,and he gave me a cash refund. read more

I was very happy with the great customer service and quality fire pit kit I bought at the Lowes in Vernon Hills. I had placed my order over the phone and timely received e-mail confirmation when the product had arrived in the store and was ready for me to pick up. Upon arriving in the store the customer service representative (sorry that I did not get names) was very professional and found my order form and walked me to the location were the product was on a pallet in the garden center area. Next, the customer service representative told me where to bring my car around to and two other Lowes representatives met me with a fork lift truck and loaded everything into my Toyota 4 Runner. Everything went very smooth and I could not be more pleased with the excellent customer service I received from Lowes in Vernon Hills. The fire pit kit is a very fine product at a reasonable price. The Vernon Hills, IL store completely turned me off Lowes for good. We ordered a fence in March and Lowes had their man come out to measure and provide a quote. We agreed on a design, and signed a contract. We were provided a date for install. Materials were ordered and arrived at the store. Then install date was confirmed for early June...and passed without anyone contacting us. We emailed and called the store many times and after over a week got a response..."oopsie"... Everyone dropped the ball. Nobody remembered to get the permit, and tried to hide that fact until I took it upon myself to call the local permit office and learned no application was submitted. Everything became the "installers fault", because why would I expect Lowes to be on top of things after paying Lowes $7k for a fence and install. And, Lowes wouldn't give me the installers info so I could contact them directly. Three weeks after the original install and materials arrived at our house. The wrong posts were ordered and delivered (4x4 rather than 6X6), which further delayed install when the installers arrived and realized they didn't have the correct materials. They had to make the trek to the store to swap out the posts. A gate wasn't ordered and had to be "rush ordered". More on that later. The double gate that was installed was installed with the hinges on the wrong side, so the fancy gate latch that we were sold only locks from the outside the fence, not the inside of the fence - and looks dumb. No fencepost caps...because Lowes ordered the wrong stuff... So the installers came back FOUR weeks later (unannounced) to install the caps and gate. Caps installed. Wrong gate ordered. It was one foot shorter than what we needed. We are now waiting for the gate to be reordered and installed and told it will take another three weeks. Throughout this process, the local store has done a crappy job of keeping us informed and of course not offered anything to make up for their mistakes, delays and incompetence. They've blamed the errors and delays on the installers, but installers showed me messages contradictory to what the store has told me. Never again will I use this store for anything since they've shown that they can't be trusted and are quite unprofessional in their work ethics. I strongly recommend that you take your hard earned money to someone else who knows what they are doing and honors their commitment to their customers. read more

Dealing with low first thing first low has some incompetent employees that are lazy not knowledge and disrespectful. They allow management to become manager and don't know how to do their job. These people here are the problem and needs to fix it. I purchased a retractable door two weeks ago, they sent me a message asking me to pick it up when I requested for them to deliver it. I called back to the store. I told Maria that I wanted the product to be delivered. She said fine. They're going to deliver for this week, I get a message email and that my item is ready for pick up when again I asked twice to make sure my private was going to be delivered, so I have to drive all the way to the store to the store today they have me sitting there for entire hour looking for a product so for a manager assistant manager never mind you I called earlier today to make sure my product was gonna be there but they he was on lunch break at 10:30 in the morning. Didn't want to come out about time. I got to the store. It was 11 o'clock today was still on lunch. He didn't want to speak to evidently so we spoke to the system manager, she went to the back. She had a sit there for a whole hour waiting for my product then Came back and said well we don't have a product in the store. Next thing you know one of the other employees was able to locate the product and then the manager she don't say well would you like for us to deliver it then apologize for the inconvenience blind dears walking around there thing I can say about that young man he did excellent job that he needs to be the manager there he needs to be the store manager because what they have there are income, income, incompetent People and they're no sympathy and it said will you pay for a product you gotta go around for hours and days to get something rectified. Lowe's had a Weber grill posted at 70% off and when I tried to purchase it, it was not at any Lowe's store or distribution center in America. I was told it was discontinued and they will not price match the exact same grill in a different color, due to a different model number. After filing a BBB complaint I was contacted by there headquarters and told they would contact Weber and get me the grill at the discounted price. Whoa! This Lowe's was like a whole new home improvement experience. The Lowe's in Vernon Hills is not the closest Lowe's to us. However, it was the closest to where we were so it worked perfectly for our errands. My husband and I walked in and noticed a significant difference in a few things: number of staff and the friendliness of the staff (not just to us, but in conversation within each other). It was kind of like the twilight zone from other Lowe's experiences elsewhere. Once we were functioning again as a normal couple we found what we needed. In the experience, we were asked three times if we need help. Whoa!!! In previous experiences, we'd need an Amber Alert to find any employee to help. Then, the checkout...it took less time than my husband to go to the bathroom. When we got in the car, we both looked at each other smiling. He said, "Well, that wasn't painful at all." Been here several times for several different things. They have a wide selection of everything home improvement and MOST of the employees are kind and willing to help. (plus they're cheaper than other stores!) I've never had an issue with waiting a long time in line, in fact It's normally dead at checkout. I've gone at all hours of the day, so maybe I'm just super lucky. They also offered a military discount (which I didn't know about for the longest time)! It's very easy, just show your ID. The returns process is simple as well and takes all of about a minute. We've had to return a few items and never been given an issue. All around solid store that I highly recommend! read more

Generally, in store shopping is no problem. I've been shopping at this Lowes for many, many years and service is usually very good; but then I'm not a fussy shopper and know exactly what I want and can usually find it. This was not the case when I ordered a flat ladder which I found on line and wanted to have it delivered next day for $15.00 extra. I completed all the necessary info and since I have a Lowes charge card I get an extra 5% off the price. I saved Sunday for my work day; the weather was going to be great and I'd get a lot of work done. (I needed a flat ladder to stand on since a regular ladder wasn't high enough or very safe to use). At 8:40am I received a text that the driver was finished and would be at my home shortly. I have two dogs; one sits on top of the couch and looks out the window all day so with me in the front room and the dogs, with my street being a dead end I'd definitely know if a delivery truck was approaching. A while later I received another text: CONGRATULATIONS! your delivery has just been made. OH REALLY! News to me and the dogs! I am in a mobile home community very well known to delivery drivers, where did he leave my ladder? I have 4 LOT signs with my lot number, the streets have street signs on every corner. I went outside and walked around my home, no package anywhere. I looked for a phone number to call but none on my receipt. I called the Pro number and got a nice lady with a southern accent. She said she could see who the trucking company was and I asked her to call them on a 3 way conversation. The person answering said he would call the truck driver as I was on hold. He came back and said the truck driver wasn't answering but he would continue to try and reach him to solve the problem. I asked who was going to keep me informed and the Lowes lady said she would call me. Well, 3 hours passed, no call so I called the store I ordered it from which is Kenosha, Wi. (also, there was no picture taken after this phantom delivery as is the norm now). The customer service female took my story and put me on hold as she conferred with her mgr. Upon returning she said there were two ways to handle this: I could drive to Kenosha and pick up another one or they would ship another one out on Monday sometime. I don't live in Kenosha and said you ship it out Monday. I rec'd a confirmation email. Actually, I think the store mgr should have taken my ladder, put it in his truck and drive the 25 miles round trip to get me my ladder so not to waste my entire day of outside work. OMG! this isn't Dr. Welby who visits his patients when they don't arrive on time. (ask your parents). On Monday, I received a phone call from the Lowes truck driver informing me he was 10 min. away. I advised him I was just leaving work so please just leave the package by my deck and thanked him. He did and sent me a photo. I thanked him again. The Pro customer service lady never called me back and it's 5 days later. Did I get anything off my bill for my inconvenience??? NO! it's the way it is these days. read more

Michelle the head cashier was unhelpful with the processing of a return of a damaged item that was ordered online and delivered directly to our residence. We even called ahead to request that the item could be re-ordered through the store instead of going through online again since we had to be completely inconvenienced by returning the item ourselves to the store. The first cashier who attempted to help us completely inapt when it came to doing an exchange and we had to wait for Michelle to return to station. She had been walking around with another non-employee who proceeded to just hang out with Michelle while she was assisting me. Michelle also was using her personal cell phone well completing the transaction. Michelle was unable to match the same price that we paid online and wanted to charge a higher rate for us to order in the store even though we were inconvenienced by the item arriving damaged and returning it to the store ourselves because they're only able to do the delivery on Thursdays and we had already been inconvenienced with missing work while we waited for the arrival of the bed. She additionally refused to apply my military discount and wanted us to pay shipping even though the original order online provided us with free shipping. Essentially a very unpleasant experience with a Lowe's a Vernon Hills and their customer service representatives. It felt as though Michelle was inconvenienced by my presence, distracted by her friend, and ultimately not interested in providing her best customer service to me. In July 2017 I had visited several different places regarding the quartz countertop I wanted. I finally selected Lowes in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Their product and design department was adequate, however, the contractor did one of the WORST installations I have ever seen!!! 1. First they did an onsite measurement- so far so good. 2. About two weeks later they came back to do the installation and realized one of the counters were measured incorrectly and did not fit. So they had to re-measure and send the correct measurements to their supplier. 3. About two weeks later they came back - WHAT A DISASTER!! 4. The hole drilled for the kitchen faucet was too close to the stainless steel sink, it made for an almost impossible install of the faucet!! 5. The epoxy used to glue the backsplash to the counter was apparently not mixed properly and came unglued in several different places!! I finally went to Home Depot and purchased the proper epoxy and clamps and repaired it properly!! I called the Lowes Countertop people several times, in which they promised to help, but never did!! Word of advice - STAY AWAY FROM LOWES Vernon Hills, IL. Regarding quartz countertops!!! read more

You can find anything you need here, tools, accessories for the home, hardware stuff, etc. All of their items here are fair and reasonably priced. They also have great deals like promos, discounts, and sale items. You can literally save a lot of money here compared to shopping at other stores around. Lowe's Home Improvement is really great! The employees here are so incredibly friendly, nice, decent, and professional. They all know how to treat all the customers so well. They are very accommodating and they will give you so many reasons to go back and visit again. Everyone was helpful and attentive. This place is exceptional! I always receive great customer service at the VH location. I mainly purchase plants and gardening type items and I am never disappointed, as they always have what I am looking for, and then some. When summer arrives, you can always count on Lowes having a great selection of vegetable and flowering plants to choose from. This location has more varieties of vegetable plants than some of the other suburban nurseries that claim to focus only on vegetable and herb plants. The customer service and attention to detail is a refreshing reminder that there is still a trace number of businesses that firmly believe customer service is an important factor in the success of their business model. read more

As soon as I get to be next in line one of the two guys working just walks away. And the person who he took before me only had a question which took one second to answer. When Lowe's first came around, I was so stoked about them. I thought they were way cooler than Home Depot. Turns out, after a few years and a couple of negative experiences in a row, that I was wrong. I'm gonna stick with Home Depot. My first bad experience was buying an "as-is" floor model washing machine (March 2013??). Once it got delivered, it didn't work. The store Manager was nice enough to help me out, and work out a deal on getting a newer machine with a grew discount, close to what i was gonna pay for the "as is" due to their error/issue. So from the customer service standpoint, i was happy. But the machine was crappy, and the folks who came to install it were questionable. The machine didn't work while he was there to deliver it , and he just said, "oh it's because it's been on the cold truck all day. They put water in it to test it at the warehouse and now it's frozen. You should wait an hour or two until it warms up and then try it again". Yeah, that should've been my first warning sign. Fast forward a few months (November 2013)- I have miscellaneous debits to my checking account to pay a Lowe's credit account. I don't HAVE a low's credit account. Long story short - the call center was useless and horrible to deal with. i eventually ended up having to dispute thru my bank because the call center claimed they had no way to track debits/payments from my account (which is bull). But I digress, this has nothing to do with this particular location. Just wanted to provide another example of how Lowe's is not as great as they seem to be. Fast forward another few months (January 2014) - my water heater blew up, dumping water all over my 2nd floor laundry room. Yay! Headed to this Lowe's to get a quote. We got a quote - but they didn't have the unit at this store, so we were gonna have to drive to Northbrook to get it. They were nice bough to offer to let us do the paperwork at home and fax it over, which would've been great. The problem is, once i started talking to the guy he said my water heater had to be a specific number of inches high. If it wasn't (which it wasn't) then the new heater wouldn't work because they'd have to move the piping.....???? Uhhhh ok, doesn't that kinda come with the territory? I mean, they're all supposedly plumbers. i don't get it. On top of it, the guy had a total attitude. Basically what it came down to was this: We can bring the water heater, and quote you for $x.xx, but if we get there and have to move anything, then that quote isn't valid and we'll have to charge you more, but we don't know how much more. WHAT A JOKE. Cancel. Cancel right now. Thank you. Called Home Depot, ordered on the phone, they came the next morning, moved some pipes and DIDNT charge extra and we were done. With a smile. So, basically all my "big" experiences with Lowe's have been negative. So I give up. I'm done. I have lost my faith in their ability to do things right. Home Depot has proven themselves over and over again in their abilities, and I TRUST them. Sorry Lowe's. You had your chance. Several actually. This location is a bit of a trip from where we live, but after several visits over the years I can tell you the extra gas is worth it. We typically come here when we want one more option...and every time this place delivers. Tonight was one of those moments. With insurance money in hand, we're looking for a dishwasher. We did our research online and narrowed it down to the model (and a special sale on that model). However, when we got there to take a look at it, we ended up not being so convinced. Hmmm...perhaps something a step up would be better. We found another model by the same maker, and we remembered it on sale at Abt, and I think Home Depot. But we were there onsite and the guy assisting us went to the computer and looked up all the reviews on on the upgraded model, looked up the other websites and agreed to price match and even found another special deal for us on a different brand. Because we needed to go home and see what our hookup is like before a purchase, we put the search on hold for the evening. However, without a doubt we'll drive the extra distance because this place in particular deserves our money. They really went the extra mile. Thanks for your beyond amazing customer service. read more
