I've had an issue with the Chip Director on the mower when fully engaged in the mulch setting. There's a known issue in online forums where owners are complaining about grass clippings accumulating in the back shoot of the mower that dumps a pile of grass clippings on your lawn when turning corners, etc. The chute has a gap and isn't closing all the way... so clippings pile up and dump periodically when there shouldn't be any clippings there at all. I registered my Honda mower for warranty and Honda told me that Grower Equipment and Supply is an authorized service provider. I've called Grower Equipment a couple of times prior to today and was told their techs could look over my mower and determine if an adjustment is required or perhaps learn if a part wasn't manufactured properly. Today I called Grower Equipment and asked if I could drop off my mower today to have it assessed. I was told to bring it over and they closed at 5:00 PM. I arrived by 4:10 PM after spending almost a half an hour in traffic. I wheeled my mower up to the front door and walked in and I spoke with Dan to give him an understanding of what was going on with my mower. Dan told me the techs have already gone home today but he would take a look at my mower to see if there was anything obvious causing the scenario I explained. Dan put my mower on its side while it was on the concrete pavers near the front door of the business and my immediate concern was that he was scratching up the right side of my mower deck and handle. Sure enough, when he returned my mower upright, there were scratches all along the right side of the Nexite deck as well as on the side of the handle. I spent $1000.00 on this Honda mower that I have taken excellent care of... never once brushing up against window wells, patio steps, or anything that would damage or scratch my new mower. Then, along comes Dan Verley and he damaged the right side of my mower deck and handle. This is unacceptable! I did not address this with Dan because I didn't feel like interacting with him further other than to go back in and get his name. I asked Dan if the techs could assess if there was anything they could do to address the chute not fully closing on the Clip Director and then Dan tells me they are backed up for two weeks, so they won't be able to look at it for a while. I asked if they could schedule a drop off at a later time so I could still have my mower available for the next couple of weeks. Dan said they don't schedule appointments, but they will probably be less busy in a couple of weeks, and I can check back with them. So, I drove an hour round trip for a complete waste of my time, fuel, and Dan messed up the side of my mower. This is complete B.S.! Not only will I not be going back to Grower, but I'll tell my friends, family, and clients to stay the heck away from them. My Dad bought a commercial Ariens snowblower there several years ago and I've regrettably sent them thousands of dollars' worth of sales and service referral since then. Why in the heck was I told I could drop my mower off this afternoon... only to be told when I got there that they wouldn't be able to address anything on it for at least 2 weeks? Pathetic!

There was no one in the reception area when we arrived so we were just browsing their pretty inventory. Then finally two older ladies came out of the back area- I announced my presence with a "hello" since I was browsing their aisles of flowers and tropical plants and did not want to startle them. They were both not very friendly and I immediately felt uncomfortable like I was interrupting them. I proceeded to ask her about bushes and one of the women acted like she didn't understand a word that I said while the other one just completely walked away. (I am a GenX Japanese American north side Chicagoan and my partner is a biracial black and white north side Chicagoan as well) she was extremely snotty and rude to me like she didn't understand what I was asking her so I took her outside to speak with my partner because I was already visibly upset-so then I asked her "are you Mary? " she's like "No Mary is inside." So Mary was the other rude lady peeking out the door. I'm like thanks but no thanks. Let's go. I asked my partner in the car if it was just me and he said "no these women are rude." So as a small business minority woman myself-who runs her own small business in the city of Chicago - I WILL NEVER GO BACK there it's was not a pleasant experience shop there at your own risk.

So when I decided to venture out to get some supplies for our backyard garden, I went with a local business rather than going to a Lowes, Home Depot, etc. SUPER HAPPY I DID!!! Ferraro Garden spot is just a complete hidden gem in Northbrook!!! I couldn't have found a better place to shop for heirloom vegetables and herbs for my garden. In fact, I was here in late Spring this year and waited until now to write my review b/c I wanted to see how beautiful my ORGANIC veggies and herbs turned out. Well, thanks to Michelle and the staff at Ferraro Garden Spot (and Mother Nature for bringing us plenty of rain this summer), my garden was beautiful to look at AND absolutely delicious to pick and eat from!!!! I may have spent a tad bit more money,, but the knowledge and friendliness of the staff here was unparalleled to any other gardening center I have ever been to. Ferraro is dedicated to fresh, ORGANIC products. This was a HUGE factor for me b/c my wife is strictly using organics to make baby food for our little girl. We also do a lot of juicing in our home, and organics is highly recommended for juicing as well. The quality and selection at Ferraro for organics blew away the selection I saw at Lowes. I was able to get around the store quickly and easily, and again, the staff here was SUPER nice and helpful in not only helping me choose what to plant, but giving me tips and pointers for planting and maintaining my garden. This REALLY came in handy, because as a first time homeowner who came from a 1000 sq foot condo in Wrigleyville with no yard or area for plants, I would not have yielded the type of garden I did this year without the tips I received from the staff at Ferraro.
