I wish I could give it zero stars. I am posting this so no one else makes a stupid mistake of trusting the Lowe's delivery system. If you actually need your merchandise, you're better off shopping anywhere else. We went into the store on Wednesday April 30th and spent an hour selecting merchandise. We paid for the merchandise and paid for the delivery which was promised for Monday May 5th. We received four different text messages the last one on May 4th, promising delivery for May 5th. On May 5th we received notices saying there was a delay and promising delivery for May 6th. On the afternoon of May 5th we called the store to ask what time we should expect the delivery and was told that the delivery was not coming on the 6th it wouldn't come until the 7th. We explained that we needed it at the very latest on the morning of the 7th because a crew was coming in and needed the materials. The shipping supervisor said that the best she could do was sometime before 8:00 p.m. on the 7th. We begged and pleaded through various people from more than an hour and still were told the best they could do was sometime before 8:00 p.m. on the 7th. This morning I tried at what is supposedly the customer service number at 800-445-6937. It was absolutely useless. I spent another hour and a half talking to both Carlos, and his supervisor Walter. Carlos, in the first hour and 14 minutes of our phone call promised me a Wednesday delivery but again sometime before 8:00 p.m. I then asked for his supervisor. Walter came on and told me no, there's no delivery tomorrow and the best they could do is Friday. What in the world is going on with Lowe's that they can't get a simple delivery correct. Of the 17 items on our order they're telling me all 17 items are out of stock. I asked if we could get it from one of the other four stores in the immediate area and I was told no, that nobody was willing to contact the other stores and that it could only come from the store we originally ordered it from. I asked for the contact information on its administrative office and I was told there was no information available. If anyone has this information I would really appreciate it. And for the rest of you, please shop anywhere that is not Lowe's. read more

Pick. Up. The. Phone. Giant store with 30 plus employees yet no one can answer the phone at the gardening section? Have a simple question about a bush they may or may not carry. Call up and get transferred to the gardening section only for it to ring for 10 minutes and then be disconnected Call back a minute later, same thing. Call back the next day, same thing. Call back a few minutes later.. almost the same thing.. but instead of getting disconnected it transfers me to a live person at the customer service desk who then almost transfers me back to the garden section until I explained I was on hold for the garden section for 10 minutes and was transferred here. Ask if they have the plants in stock, he's friendly and apologizes for the wait and tries to find the plant- he says that Lowes carries them but doesn't know if they are in stock at that store. I ask.. "well is there a way to check?" He checks again and confirms they are NOT in stock. I thank him and hang up, he tried, not his fault. It's Lowe's terrible system to blame. Anyway, I went to Home Depot instead..not that they are much better, but at least it's only half the hold time there when calling. read more

We dealt with Neil in milleork, who in my opinion is a super star working in a ----- hole of a store. After having someone come to measure the doors we started the order process. After a long haggle they give us no interest terms of two years. I sign for the charge and head home. I notice they didn't charge for one door so I call the store. NO ONE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT. Around and around. I finally get Neil who straightens it out. My doors come in. Another cluster. First door is damaged. A week later, second door comes in damaged. Another week, another damaged door. A different sales person tries to convince me to take it. NEIL PLEASE HELP. Finally, Neil gets a good door, all doors installed and we are good. Oh, I pay off the 2 year no interest term in under one year. You know the saying, " Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". Well, SHAME ON ME. That's right, a couple of weeks ago back for more doors. Two patio sliders, one storm door for a side garage door, 7 closet doors, and a fancy door to our master bathroom, I'm dealing with Neil exclusively so we should be ok. NOPE. Sales are so bad in this store that they cut Neil to one day a week. Ok, so they measure all the doors and we go back to place the order. They must see the big sign on my forehead that says SUCKER. Final order $10,000. Ok what terms can we get for this purchase? No, no terms. Me. E, we can only give you 6 months, store policy, or they can give longer but with 3.5% interest. Now, let me say, first not bragging but I'm very protective of my credit score. It's over 800. Doesn't matter to Lowes, they'd rather lose the sale than extend the same term as they did last year. Whether it is peat pods for starting the seeds for my garden or a hanging plant for my Mom for Mother's day, this store has good quality items for a reasonable price. I typically don't have to interact with anyone except for the cashier which I have had no issues with. I mostly am able to look around and find things for myself as this store is fairly well organized. The seeds I bought are also already doing well and growing and the hanging plant still looks great. AVOID HAVING YOUR BLINDS DONE HERE...the 3rd party store (Blinds for You) that Lowe's has a contract with is absolutely HORRIFIC. Just an overall terrible experience. Took quite some time to get my blinds installed and even then they weren't perfectly measured and I have light coming in from the sides (when the blinds to go consultant told me I wouldn't have any light because I have side panels on my windows). The first agent who came to my house came without a mask and was very annoyed I asked him to remove his shoes or wear booties ( I had new ones to provide!). He somehow measured the windows of 3 rooms in under 5 minutes and took it upon himself to push aside my items that were on top of my dresser with his binder (my glass skincare products). When I called the store to let the manager know about this experience his response was to start yelling at me and say "did you have a mask on". I'm in my own house with my own family...you're worker is the outsider. My mind was blown that someone in sales would think it's appropriate to yell at the customer! I actually had to get corporate involved throughout the whole transaction because it's impossible to deal with the store or the manager. Looking back I truly wish I had canceled my order and gone elsewhere....I would have been spared the headache and had blackout curtains that actually blocked the light. I ordered a very large birthday present online, and decided to pick it up in a local store. Unfortunately, the stores closest to me did not have the item in stock, so I had to travel about 15 miles. Not too bad. The store is easy to spot from the road. Ample parking. I pulled right up in front, and a young male employee greeted me immediately. I gave him my online receipt, and he told me he would have my package out in about ten minutes. As I waited, three other staff members courteously greeted me and ensured I was being helped. I also saw numerous customers receiving direct assistance from other employees. The staff goes above and beyond the call of duty, and all seemed to be quite proactive and hands on. In this day and age where many employees avoid customers and are highly unmotivated, the approach of the Lowe's staff was welcome and refreshing. Less than ten minutes later the original gentleman who retrieved my order had my package in my car and I was ready to head on my way. Cordial and super speedy service. Highly recommended. Went to the Commack store to look for a specific floor tile , they didn't have it so they called another store ; Bayshore store said they had the specific tile we are looking for .They said they did a visual, but we get there and it was the wrong tile. They said that the farmingdale had it. We get there and they only had wall tile, not the floor tile we needed. They told us Stonybrook had it and finally it was there but don't they have computer systems so they know their inventory? I had to go to four stores which is ridiculous! This Lowe's, like the rest, has a nice selection of stuff to help me part with said dinero... The good thing about Lowe's is that I happened to have some stuff bought at Lowe's closer to home, and was able to return it here with no problem at all. And then I noticed the place is exceptionally clean and well-maintained I have to hand it to the staff they really take care of that place and treated like it's their own home. Just wanted to share an experience we had recently at Lowe's in Stony Brook. My friend just bought a house in Mastic and we needed a lawnmower. I'm a little older, so I asked my friend if she would consider upgrading to a self-propelled model since I was going to be the one to mow the lawn's. And she agreed. We both went to Lowe's, told the rep in the lawnmower department what we wanted, he put it in our cart ...we paid for it and off we went. It's sat outside for two days until I was able to unpack it. After putting it together I mowed the back 40. I was completely exhausted. I went to the front yard and got a third of the way through and was completely blown. I've never had a lawnmower before, so I didn't know what to expect. I looked underneath the lawnmower to see where the gears were that made it self propelled and there were none. None of the wheels moved on their own. It wasn't until we went online that we found out that they had sold us a push mower. I had already used it but when we called Customer Service, they said we could turn it in for a new one, as long as we emptied the gas, and we did not have to bring the box back fortunately, because the day I unpacked it, they picked up cardboard in our area and the box went out. Went back to the store, easy exchange and they gave me a new one. A photo of the box which I will include will show you how it came. I sent the photo to my friend and when she saw the shape of the box she said, it's used, bring it back. She can be very skeptical and I can be very trusting. I brought the box home and two days later again opened it up to put it together. We first noticed there was no oil bag in the box. She said it was used. I took it out of the box and on the bottom there was what looked like an oil stain on the bottom of the box. She said it was used. I said you just don't trust anyone, do you? She said pull out the dipstick, and there was oil on it. While she was on the phone with Customer Service I said to myself, let me at least smell the gas tank that way I'll know if it was used because you can't get rid of the smell of gas. And I open the gas cap and stuck my nose into a FULL TANK OF GASOLINE!! Needless to say, she was right, and I was wrong. I drove all the way home with a re-purposed lawnmower that they sold me as NEW AND AT FULL PRICE, with a full tank of gas, and then back to the store again with a full tank of gas. I didn't empty it when I returned it because I wanted them to see that it was FULL.!! NO manager came to the front even though I saw the rep on the phone kind of talking so I couldn't hear her, and a young man came to take the one I had and exchange it for another. As he walked away I called him back and said, make sure you bring me a brand new one that's not wrapped up in packing tape!!! He did, I brought it home, and at the moment it seems to work fine. And it was brand new. That being said, I will never shop at Lowe's again. I will be a Home Depot customer for life and I will tell everyone who wants to know about my experience there. This is clearly the worst Lowes I've ever been to (I've given them 6 visits due to job site proximity) One star for cleanliness, zero for staff assistance if you can track one down. There are virtually no staff to help at the tools section. Most visits I'm good with getting things so it's not an issue, then there's staff assistance when you need it.... good luck I went to pick up a 23 gauge Hitachi pin nailer. None were stocked below the typical nailer display. So I looked up at their caged wall and saw a dozen or so up there. Took 15 minutes to track someone down who works in that department, then was promptly told it's under the display and to look harder. There were NONE, looked back and the employee disappeared. Trying to update my grandfathers home, which is now mine and my husbands. Found the front door I wanted online for sale. Went down and purchased it. Waited for 30 min for someone to show up at the desk for windows and doors, no one could find the girl after being radioed several times. The girl seemed clueless with her job. Gave her the measurements. Told her I need a left hand inswing. Went to go pick it up today and waited an hour for them to FIND my door. The associate who was clearly new didn't know a thing about anything. Once it was in my car I realized that they gave me the wrong inswing. Told the associate and he insisted it was correct. Pretty sure the metal foot frame faces the outside not inside. I asked him to please get an associate who could help because I'm positive that it's the wrong inswing, told me that it would take 45 min because they're all MIA. Here's the Scoop: came today to look at some roof tiles. As you know the other day I went to Home Depot checking their prices. Well Lowe's Home Store was cheaper. So we purchased the roof tiles. No one to ask questions in this DEPT. But tiles were labeled and neatly shelved. Easy to find what you need. So we purchased the tiles used the self serve register in and out in 15 minutes. Great!!! Nasty weather today so we really wanted to hurry and get through with our other errands. I must say that Lowe's store is well kept, and you can see many workers ready to help if you need. As we entered several workers greeted us as they passed. This is great for customers entering the store. It makes you feel welcomed. I like coming here to browse and see what's new. Went for multiple things: First I was looking for pump adapters, you know those tiny little adapters that you need depending on whether you want to pump into a tire, a modified tire or a ball (basketball or soccer etc...). I was first given the run around for like 10 minutes directing me to aisles that clearly do not have anything pump related. Finally found myself in the pump/compressor section where the staff said; "It's down the aisle on the left." Where does that mean?!???!? After spending 5 minutes walking down the entire aisle and coming back to same staff, he looks at me like I'm retarded and like he gave me the clearest instruction in the world... He reluctantly shows me where the pumps/compressors are (yes the pumps, not the adapters). Second reason came here was to pick up a dishwasher with my dad. We come in and give them the receipt for the purchase. He sat down to wait while I went about with my above adventure. I come back 20 minutes later to find him waiting still... we waited another 20 or so minutes afterwhich when we ask where the item is, they tell us it is out of stock and proceed to offer a replacement... Which takes another 20 minutes. My god the incompetency of this place astounds me. read more

This is my go-to super-mega-hardware store. I can usually find what I want there. Their prices are reasonable (though not the lowest around) and more often than not their employees are helpful. Returns are quick and easy, especially during early morning hours. Checkout can be slow. They usually have only one human cashier on duty at a time, forcing people to the less-than-user-friendly automated checkout machine. A few years back I ordered some vinyl flooring with installation. When the flooring came into the store the price nearly doubled from the original estimate. I cancelled the order and haven't used them for any home improvement work since. read more

ordered kitchen cabinets on 1/30/2019. 2/19/2019 First time delivery they messed up 4 cabinet incorrect. Lowes is my go to place when I need things in a hurry. It also helps that it's 5 mins away from me. Lowes is definitely nicer then Home Depot, its is more well lit and feels much cleaner. Every tool I need they have I stock and if you use the lowes credit card they give you 5% off your purchase. It used to mind boggle me when I would see a lower price then go swipe my credit card and it would be a higher price. read more

Wow stay away from Shelly a so called department manager. I was bullied by her and she got in my face as in a physical confrontation! I Returned a six dollar lightbulb that I had purchased in a Lowes in Tennessee by a second home of mine. I'd consider myself a do-it-yourself homeowner, and I frequent with Home Depot. Saw some labor day ads and decided to go to Lowe's in Stony Brook, NY for some patio furniture and fencing. Boy was this a mistake... #1 the website doesn't work, both search at home and in store. Constant errors, can't make a purchase, incorrect prices, etc. So I took the trip to the store, and again BIG mistake. #2 the Stony Brook store, very tough to find what you need and nobody to help. Waited 25 min for one woman to assist, and she then tells us she can't get me a price because she's not sure of the sales on patio furniture. Waited another 10 min for another sales person who was on a computer 5ft from the patio furniture for him to tell me that's not his department?!?! Thought I read an article the other day that Lowe's was downsizing and closing stores... If true, now I know why... They've got nothing on Home Depot, especially the Stony Brook, NY store. read more
