She came up to us asking what brings us in, which we told her, she proceed to ask if we have reservations at a restaurant. We said no, we just ate and decided to come in here and browse, told her I had gotten a bed recently. She said something to the lines of, "You are in a mattress store, soooo?? Why are you here?" - we were so taken back by her response, and the attitude from her that I forgot word-for-word, but it was so close that I even asked her , "so are we not allowed to be in here?" So finally as my boyfriend kept on speaking with her for a second more, I walk away and start looking. Immediately I knew she wasn't getting any of my money. She also need to realize and not assume that my bf and I don't live together and he could have been more interested than me, instead of brushing us both off at the same time. While we were leaving less than 5 minutes later, because I no longer wanted to waste my time after that first impression - I asked if my boyfriend remembered her name, which he didn't. He politely walked over to her, while she was chatting with another blonde sitting at the desk - and he asked if she had a card so if he decided to come back. She said she didn't have one. And he said "oh, do you guys work off commision? Because I'd rather give your name". She said "i'm here everyday". And that was the end of that. Couldn't even give her name to us. I am so thrown back, it was a terrible first impression. If she didn't have such an attitude with us and ask why we're there, she would have probably got a commision from us because I WAS looking for a king mattress for the near-ish future. Sorry girl, this job isn't for you. You just lost the company some money. BTW, we traveled to another store in the same day, and beside it ironically there was another mattress firm in Port Jeff - we were curious to see if we'd receive the same service. We didn't. We met Charlie and his customer service skills were phenomenal. We even told him we were browsing, exactly as we did in Smithtown, he was way more positive, knew how to play the sales game, and knew how to treat people. We walked out without a sale but he never once gave us an issue. And we tested it, asked if he had a business card which he GLADLY gave it to us. So not only did the girl previously give us attitude, but she lied and said she didn't have business cards. Charlie, from Port Jeff, thank you - go teach your coworker at the other store some real customer service skills.

Another appointment scheduled. Technician didn't show at last minute/cancelled. Scheduled another appointment. Technician did not hook up remote properly. Only frame is working. Customer service is terrible. Will not refund the bed. Will not send out another technician. Requires over phone problem shooting, which means my Dad requires someone to help him out. All in all a 96 year old man has been unable to sleep in his bed for three weeks now. And will continue until I can take off of work and be there to trouble shoot over the phone.

I actually have herniated discs and I wanted to see what your product could do. He then harshly scolded her for laying on a bed to try it out and said it wouldn't work because she doesn't weigh enough!  (she felt really uncomfortable and stood away from him for the rest of our short visit and there was NO REASON he couldn't have been a gentleman towards her) After yanking the bed remote from me he lurked over me and told me that because HE worked there HE would have to push the buttons for me while I laid down. He looked super creepy (picture added below) and for what it's worth, I COMPLETELY DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE with the idea of laying down on a bed with him standing over me pushing the buttons on the remote control and asking me about my credit. So I asked for the remote back and he said, "do you own a bed?". I replied that I did own a bed. Then he asked if I own a *sleep number bed*, which I replied that I did not.  Not even kidding, then he told me that I wouldn't be able to figure out the remote because it's too complicated, but only HE could operate it because HE works there! I can actually build a computer and I live in a household of tech geeks so his remark and unwillingness to let me use the remote was laughable. Needless to say, I didn't even get to lay down on the bed. I just walked out without even saying a word. I also purchased a mattress from BJS Wholesale. It probably is not as high tech and difficult to operate as the one in your store, but I didn't have to deal with a condescending salesman that was rude to my daughter, either! I took this picture of the guy on my way out. You conduct business in the mall. You're going to have to do business with families and children. Get over yourself. If you hate your job that much get a new one.

Sadly I was led astray and talked into this new hybrid bed called Intellibed. Twice the cost of a Tempur $8,000!!! But I was assured so well worth it with a 10 year warranty that both company's stood behind. After the first month there was an immediate issue with the mattress, I thought is was due to the fact I was sold the incorrect base for it. I should have taken this opportunity to get out then, and regret it now. But here I am two years and Mattress Firm nor Intellibed will back up this Mattress, I am repeatedly told how this is normal body impressions, what is normal about a canyon in your bed!!! I was given a paper as a measuring device, for the massive impressions in the mattress, which are impossible to measure do to the pillow top of the mattress itself. All Mattress Firm had to offer after I complained over a month was a coupon for 40% off on limited items, (they started at 20%) not on Tempur or Beauty Rest or any other mattress of quality. But some other crap they want to pawn off! My husband and I have not slept well in almost a year now. If they think I'll spend another dime in this store they must think I am a real jerk. The sad thing is I had been a loyal customer of this store since it was a Sleepy's, what is more depressing is we don't have the money to spend on a new mattress and I just want them to be held accountable. I am wondering how many more people have been ripped off by big Mattress Firm. I beg anyone who reads this is 1. Don't go to the Port Jeff Store, they lie and scam 2. Always buy Tempur! 3. After spending two hours at their competitor Ray... &…read moreFlan..., Patchogue, we returned to this store hoping that based on a past purchase, quality merchandise and customer service, we would have a successful purchase upgrade from our Queen to King mattress. Our bullets were: a rather firm and cool mattress at least 14" thick. My husband had visited this store earlier in the week and was impressed with John, sales associate, as he believed his delivery was sincere. We were tired of the blah, blah, blah from their competitor, which I believe was our first mistake as we should have shopped fresh on another day. John suggested the adjustable base to my husband and the seed was planted firmly. First time introduction to an adjustable base I could not understand the 'hype'; however, again, my husband was excited about the possibilities of this base as he watches TV every night before sleeping. Not me. The first two times he adjusted the mattress, was two times too many for me. Since I go to bed and sleep, I felt dizzy in the various positions set and just could not get comfortable. We no longer use the adjustable version of the base. When my husband called John in an attempt to exchange it for a non-adjustable base and get a partial refund, John indicated that although the mattresses have a 120 night trial, the adjustable base has a NO RETURN POLICY. This no return item cost us an additional thousand dollars which we are unable to utilize. Yes the No Return was indicated on the order form, but we did not see it and John talked about the 120 night trial return policy, but never indicated it did not include this very expensive accessory. So, in summary, the buyer beware warning remains a valuable purchasing criteria. There are serious 'unsanitary' factors in this scenario that do not inspire purchase confidence when the return of a used mattress is acceptable but an 'unused' base is not. Very, very disappointed. P.S. The mattress 'coolness' is highly questionable as it reverts from cool to warm within the hour of laying on it and we use bamboo sheets. This was not the case with our queen mattress!

Let's file this writeup in the category of "Things I never Thought I Would Review." I mean if…read moreanything, I'd probably think I'd be penning some negative words for a furniture store, especially after all the odd, awkward, and uncomfortable experiences my fiancée and I had prior. But no, my friends. Ashley Furniture Home Store of Lake Grove is the opposite of all those unfortunate things you often run into. They shine through as a true winner when looking to furnish the interior of your home (don't let the low Yelp score fool you!) Why? Well let's start with the variety of items available. Ashley balances their styles between modern/contemporary and a more rustic/farmhouse vibe to give you a nice range of furniture to choose from. I'll add in that the prices of their stuff is totally reasonable and probably falls in the middle tier of affordability for furniture (maybe even a little cheaper). Throw in quality that (to this point after a few months of owning our items) seems great and you've got a recipe for success. Though when you really stop and think about your experiences with furniture stores, one of the largest parts to it all is your interactions with the employees. My fiancée and I have quickly skimmed a store and bolted after being hounded, heckled, and followed by staff (even at other Ashley's!). But at Lake Grove, the people working here are exceptional. It's not just one of them. They're all a class act. Let's start with Marcel. He spent a good two hours with us going through bedroom sets, mattresses, payment plans, and even some living room furniture inquiries. The whole time it almost felt like I was talking to a friend who just happened to work at Ashley. Marcel is kind, informative, and honest with his sales tactics which makes you want to return. We did just that a second time a month later. Marcel happened to see us, remembered our names, and even though he was helping other customers, he said if we needed anything to let him know. Wow. You'd say it almost doesn't get better than that, but when we returned to Ashley a third time to finally purchase some living room furniture, we were helped by Patrick (Marcel's partner) and Jeff. Both gave us the same thoughtful attention that we encountered with Marcel. They spent plenty of time with us checking out different sofas and chairs and discussing options. Never did we feel pressured to buy anything. Patrick even took a pillow around from the living room set we wanted to help in matching colors that worked for what we were looking for with an accent chair. It was just another fabulous experience. Overall, Ashley Furniture Home Store of Lake Grove is so much more than the 2 1/2 stars on Yelp that it unfortunately has. It deserves the five star treatment because that's how you'll feel after interacting with this staff and finding some furniture that you'll really love (which we do!). Oh and one final tip: If/when they offer you water, coffee, or a chai latte, take the chai latte! It's delicious.

Im actually STILL waiting for the item to be delivered today... and if i ever get it, perhaps ill get to see my poor husband in the hospital. What a joke of a company this is! They are a joke, it would be better money spent going elsewhere! TRUST ME! absolute worst experience in my entire life during the most difficult time in my life.
