I found Tech Boys Patchogue on Yelp and after reading fab reviews about Rich and his team, I sent them a Request a Quote on Yelp. They got back to my super fast and said to come on it to see what they can do. Well, come on in I did and one day later, it was fixed! I was astonished how fast they got it done. They even transferred all my data to a brand new and more robust drive that I sent over to them via next day Prime shipping on Amazon. The prices were reasonable considering the turn around time and the amount of data (nearly 1TB). I'm super glad that small, independent shops like this are still around! They said they would send someone out but it would be $$$. Since we bought the tv from Best Buy I called them and wouldn't you know, our extended warranty expired in April. (When I told the guy I spoke with that I didn't get an email notification, he told me they don't send notifications anymore. There aren't too many tv repair places anymore, but yesterday I called one that wasn't too far away, but they were closed for the holiday weekend. Then I found ANDREW'S TV REPAIR SERVICE in Holtsville, a good 45 minutes from where I live . Again, this was Saturday of the holiday weekend. He told me he would be at our home sometime between 3 and 7 and sure enough, he was. He had told me over the phone there would be a service charge (very reasonable and much less than Best Buy and what Samsung told me) and if he had to replace anything or take it back with him, there would be an additional charge. He looked at the tv, told me it was a problem with the wiring in the wall, fixed it and was done. AND, he was a very nice guy to boot! I would recommend him highly.

He came down to $250 and was going to charge for the visit anyway, so I had him do the job. Since then I bought a hose with a gauge and a can of freon and did it myself for around $30. The can of freon was around $12 - and I didn't use half of it.

The total cost was $900. The ice maker worked for 8 months and then stopped working. I was told there was only a 60 day warranty on the part (another dealer told me that there should have been a1 year warranty IF it was a NEW part) and PMX would take a look at the problem for another $175 service charge. I called another service provider and it turned out that the problem was that the condenser needed to be cleaned and the ice maker reset button needed to be reset!! This may have been the original problem all along. My low rating is based upon the fact that (1) the repair was very expensive and only lasted 8 months (2) there was no reasonable warranty for such an expensive part (3) they were not willing to even take a look at the the same problem without a new service charge. If it was a different problem, fine, but how about a little "good will?" Finally, was it really a "new part" that I received? I'll never know.
