I used to frequent this Lowe's a lot before we moved a long time ago, but I have been going to the other home improvement stores because of the shorter distance from home.  This night, I was here looking at shower heads since we purchased a couple of them here about 10 years ago.  I also needed to purchase a couple of surge protectors, but did not know where to look in such a big store. A special shout out to their staff on the floor, Steven, who was very helpful and friendly.  Not only did he lead me to the area of surge protectors, he even helped me find exactly what I needed.  He was very knowledgeable. When I was trying to make a decision, he used his cell phone to go online to check on some more technical answers for me.  I told him that I would take some time and make a decision.  He assured me that he would be around for another 20 minutes should I need his help.  And it was 20 minutes to the store's closing time!  Some employees would try to avoid helping customers when it was so close to closing; so, I was truly appreciative of his service and professionalism. I ended up purchasing two surge protectors.  I will be back should I need more home improvement items in the future. read more

We purchased an outdoor light along with installation. Three weeks later the light stopped working. After numerous phone calls an installer came out and told us the light was defective. We returned the light, BUT could NOT receive a refund on the $99 installation cost. We were told we had to purchase another light and have that one installed. In other words, there was no refund on the installation charge although the product purchased was defective. Please contact me about issuing a refund! read more

However, if you like quiet and like solid, quality advise, this is a wonderful DIY store that is overlooked by the pushy contractors. I frequently visit this location as it's waking distance from the Tesla Supercharger in the same shopping center. What I love about this location is that it's fairly empty a MAJORITY of the time. It gives me the freedom to move along the aisles without it being too crowded. I am also not hounded by the workers asking if I need help. This is actually what I dislike about the place as well though. When I need help, it's hard to find. I believe that since the store has such a low walk through rate, they don't hire as much staff to man the aisles. All else, they usually have ample stock of what I need compared to other locations. They store is clean, organized and large. Wow, I'm really surprised by all the 1 star reviews, and that stinks for those who had those experiences. We stopped in today to pick up a few things for our house. Water sealer for our deck, fertilizer, and a deck heater. We also did a small amount of browsing. Like living through a pandemic isn't weirding our brains out enough, stop by this Lowe's, and you'll be greeted by a full collection of Christmas displays (mixed in with the grill section), and tons of artificial Christmas trees. What? What? The weirdest greeting ever. Like so weird. They were out of deck heaters...not surprising considering they are already in a December state of mind...but we picked up everything else we needed. The customer service was fantastic. We were asked at three different times if there was anything we needed help with. The garden section is a bit slim on flowers, but mums are just coming in. Everyone was in a mask and practicing proper social distancing. We were hesitant to head out to a hardware store on a Saturday, but it wasn't crowded at all. We went around 4pm. read more

This place is hit or miss. Sometimes you can get help and other times you can walk in like you're invisible. Self checkout is a joke as there's more of a monitor there ensuring you don't steal anything I guess. Useless job. Um, monitor your employees, that's where most thefts occur. Duh. It's certainly quieter than Home Depot's so if you like that, come here. This place is convenient but a pretty typical big box store with staff that just gonthru the motions. Ok just returned to this store yesterday 3/11/18 because I needed a dishwasher and didn't want to go to Abt because I knew there'd be crowds. Boy was I wrong, stood in the appliance dept and 1 guy stood by his register just eyeing us not even making any acknowledgement or asking us if we needed help. I waited 10 min and I literally had to shout over and say "can you help us?". Then his help was useless coz he's says to us, "I can't tell u anything bout those dishwashers coz the guy who usually takes care of them comes in tomorrow at 8." Are you fcuking kidding me?! Then another appliance worker was actually sitting her fat arse with her earphones in place and she's texting on her phone! I ordered an item on line thinking it would come from Lowe's warehouse or another Lowe's store. Turns out, it is coming from a 3rd party vendor that Lowe's partners with. DO NOT order anything that Lowe's uses a 3rd party vendor for. I hope Lowe's will start vetting their vendors and put some expectations on levels of service and delivery times. The most disgusting, disrespectful customer service I have ever experienced. Which, I only needed because they are so disorganized that the products I needed were unstocked at the top of the shelf needing a whole ladder to get to. Still, this was too much to ask to get it down and two different male Lowe's employees tried everything in their power to refuse to get on the ladder and give me the products. Demanding to know why I need said plumbing items, and sneering that I'm too stupid to know what I need or capable of comprehending simple projects.. This did not end even as I held my ground on my knowledge on MY PROJECT NEEDS. Ironically, neither man was even remotely knowledgeable or competent AT ALL and said laughably ignorant things in the world of basic plumbing. At this Lowe's you are guilty until proven innocent. In short I purchased an Ego string trimmer deciding to return the trimmer the next day unopened. Why? Because I read the Lowes reviews and I didn't want to be another victim of a problematic automatic line feeding mechanism. But at the return counter the women wouldn't believe me that the box was unopened even though it had the manufacture's banding straps intact on the box. Then she called over the associate, Steve, from the applicable department who told her it is new in the box, unopened, nothing is wrong, rolling his eyes. Unfortunately she not only didn't believe me, but refused to believe the Lowe's employee. After a good deal more badgering I was able to get my money back. Point if fact getting accused of theft is hardly how you retain customers. I can only imagine what Steve thinks of her at this juncture. In fact he made a few choice comments to her face in front of me. But wait there is more. I attempted to speak with a store manager. The result? I was told the person is too busy to deal with me. I am not sure where to start. I recently bought a fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. The fridge was delivered with a dent so I sent it back. Once they delivered a new fridge as well as a new stove (I needed gas and not electric - my fault) they left it in the middle of my living room even though they were supposed to install it. So I had to call AGAIN to have someone install the stove and fridge because they are not the same people who install the microwave and dishwasher. This is for a high-rise so each job required a certificate of insurance for the delivery of the items as well as a separate certificate of insurance for the installers. Then, I also had Lowe's install new flooring for my condo. It was a separate team to deliver and a separate team to install with again separate certificates of insurance. Yes, this is a hassle when I have to reserve an elevator, pay deposits, etc. And just to add to the headache, Lowe's forgot to deliver the molding for the floors so I had to go through the process twice for the floors!!!! No, I will not work with them again. I have another unit in a separate high-rise and I bought a fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher from Abt. They delivered, installed and took the trash away in 1 visit!! Yes, 1 day, 1 visit, 1 team of people. The difference in cost was not much however the customer experiences was leaps and bounds better than Lowe's. Do yourself a favor and shop at Abt!!! read more

I spent over 40 minutes yesterday texting with online rep only to be told I had to call the store to return a vanity that was nicked. At the time of me posting this review, this Lowe's store currently has a 2 star rating. I feel like that's 100% accurate. My husband was lucky enough to win a $500 store credit in Lowes' awesome promotion yesterday and used it to pick up a "brand new" roomba from this location last night. We opened it up to find it had been used. A lot. We took it back and exchanged it simply enough, but the fact that the store knowingly sold a roomba that was full of hair and dirt is pretty terrible. Based on our experience and the other bad reviews, we'll shop elsewhere from here on out. I'd advise others to do the same. read more

Whatever happened to customer service? Really. I was walking around the appliance department for a good 15 minutes...no one offered to assist me. I WAS going to buy a microwave oven because the prices were pretty good. But no. I had questions, no one was offering to help me. I walked out without spending a dime. Too bad for them. At least when I go to Abt, there's a friendly greeting at the door and at least two salespeople approach me asking if I need help with anything. Worst website I have ever encountered. NOTHING works as it should. I have been trying to buy an item for a month. When I ordered they said they were out. They suggested a different More expensive product which I ordered because I needed it. On the day it was supposed to arrive I tried to track it online and found they were "preparing my order." When I saw that the original item I wanted was listed as available I tried, AGAIN, to order that one. It told me I could get 20% off if I signed up for a Lowe's Advantage Card but when I went to the check out it wouldn't honor my card. Bait and Switch at the WORST. I went in there today to make a copy of some keys. While I was waiting there were two people sitting in customer service (customers, not staff), NOT wearing masks. They kept staring at me(I was wearing a mask). I said something to the guy working that it made me uncomfortable, and that the sign on the door outside said 'face coverings required'. He said 'I'm sorry we can't force them'. Um, no. You can't. But seeing as every other business will kick them out or refuse service-you made yourselves look sheepish. It is a brutal experience to shop at this Lowe's. I actually dread having to go. There are employees around; however, it a bit of a conspiracy because you can never find one in the area when you need one. When you do find one, they are lovely, kind, and ready to assist. It is difficult to find items here. Areas aren't always marked clearly so you can liters be looking for a furnace filter for 10 minutes. Checkout is another unpleasant experience here. There is always super long lines. They have self check out which is nice, but there still needs to be enough cashiers for the people who need to check out. Being a book. I can't say enough about how great the staff is. I went in for a clearance item and they looked for it until they found it! Saved $30. When I mentioned my project they gave me advice on 2 steps and helped me select a straight railing (hadn't thought of that!). Recently walked in the store just to buy temporary window shades. What I thought would only take a minute took almost 30 minutes. No one knew where they were located and it was very difficult to even find someone to help me. In the end I did find what I needed but it shouldn't have been that difficult. They should probably have a computer where you can search for items that helps you locate what aisle it is in. read more

No help at all ! I was in the neighborhood and needed a bag of compost. I walked into the Garden Center from the parking lot and immediately heard a male and female employee into a personal conversation to my left and a cashier to my right. I asked the cashier where the compost was and she called over to the male employee as to where the compost was. He proceeded to point to his left and he immediately went back into his conversation. I walked over to the bag of compost I wanted and I could not move the bag let alone lift it. I felt good about being able to find it with the point of a finger but he had to know I wasn't going to be able to lift 25.7 Qt. I walked out feeling dismissed and I thanked him for his help! Stick to Home Depot and Reds Nursery where they always walk you to the product and make sure it gets into your vehicle! read more

A very cordial gentleman answered and initially responded in the affirmative, but then he took the time to check actual inventory for me. It is so nice to come to a store when the employees have the set the standard before physically entering. First impression was amazing. The incompetence here is unbelievable. I ordered a grill to be delivered on Saturday for a surprise gift, and it was not delivered (surprise ruined). They then told me it would arrive Monday (today) in a four hour time slot, again, it did not arrive. After wasting my time waiting for it, I called and have spent half an hour on the phone. I got disconnected once and was brought back to the main message several times--clearly their phone system needs to be fixed. After all this time I apparently will be getting a delivery tomorrow, but I am not holding my breath. read more

I had 5 items cancelled on me this past week after receiving conformation that they were ready for pick up. I get there and guess what, they can't find them. I asked for the manager and the manager said that there hands were tied, could not do anything, and I would get my money refunded. One of the employees told me, this happens all the time!!! Every experience I've had at this Lowe's has been a positive one. They've been by our side for one doozy of a DIY kitchen remodel and we are now on our 2nd & 3rd full bath remodel and so many other little home owner DIY projects...too many to list. Do we go to Home Depot? Sure, they are closer to us than Lowe's so they get plenty of our business but when comparing the two stores, there is almost no comparison! HD is always filthy, Lowe's pristine. The product that Lowe's carries overall seems to be better quality, per reviews on their sites and also my own experience. Since it's fresh on my mind, try searching bathroom vanities on both sites. I'm currently replacing a HD vanity that was close to $1k and only lasted for 3 years. The overall depth of selection is vastly superior with Lowe's and I would say WAY more on trend and always have been. Customer Service seems about equal. I have always thought that HD is made for contractors looking for a "good enough" quality product to get their paid project done so they can make the most profit and move on to the next. Lowe's on the other hand strikes me as a store made for me, the DIY homeowner, with reputable products that are relatively easy to use and also built to last. If you are flipping homes...I'd say HD is the way to go but if it's your pad, Lowe's is worth every extra penny spent or minute traveling to shop there. The only item I've found to consistently better at HD is paint. Their Behr paint is top notch. Even better than Benjamin Moore these last few years. read more

Made the mistake, once again, going here to purchase a product and have THEM install it. I was told that a person would contact me within 48 hours (business days) with possible day/times for the installation... never happened. On the fourth day, I called them. The very helpful women on the phone told me the item I purchased was out of stock at that store and they're waiting for it to come in... LIE!!! It was 'IN-STOCK' when we made the purchase! When I told her this, I was put on hold for 15+ minutes so she could call the Northbrook store to confirm. When she finally returned, I was told, YES, they are indeed 'IN-STOCK' and that I should receive a call within 48 hours (business days) for installation dates... It's Wednesday, which will push this another 2+ days on top of that! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! read more

This started when we contracted Lowes to install vertical blinds in our living room. The sales process was OK. Actually getting the blinds installed was horrible. It took numerous phone calls and endless wait times. When we connected, the person connected, they had no idea how to help us. After my last return experience I will not shop at Lowe's again, even though I prefer their supply and layout over Home Depot. I have spent countless dollars at this location over the years in my house. During my attempt to return 4" rubber couplings, I was told it exceeded the 90 day return policy. I said no problem and I'll take store credit. I was told they do not return nor offer a store credit for items over 90 days (it was 120 days). I had a receipt in my hand and confirmed that they still sell the exact same part. I rarely ever return anything and I'm a great customer. For Lowes to nickel and dime me over $20 return is an insane business policy. This is a big box store...not a Mom and Pop where I'd understand a policy like that. They were brand new and not like I was trying to get use out of them and then return. So now I own a brand new part I cannot do anything with but Lowes could still sell. Please avoid this store. I have purchased through the years many products and have been loyal. For now on I am going down the street to Home Depot. I was returning a $79.00 drill that never was opened and I felt like a criminal as they want through the entire box and the manual to make sure, I was not defrauding them. I felt they were demeaning about my return of the drill that was never opened or taken out of the box. The previous day, I purchased a ladder and couldn't find anyone to help me.
