I forgot to come back with the update on our Lowe's fridge removal and delivery. A 2 Man crew came to remove the old Sub-Zero fridge when they said that 4 were needed. They took it away. Said the first crew could have and should have taken it the first time. Another 2 Man crew came to deliver the new fridge. Said they couldn't use the shims Lowe's delivery advised us to buy to level the fridge. I hustled down to the basement and found leftover wood flooring strips from our flooring installation. They were able to install the fridge after that. It does look pretty and I am very happy with the choice I made. Now what to do with the space left open on top of the fridge?. My Hubby still has to put the siding strip in one side that he removed so the fridge could be installed. Maybe another nice piece of wood to cover the open area because I am way too short to get up there to reach anything. But I digress. . .. read more

I paid for a deck and fence installation on April 15, 2020 during the peak of COVID19 and expected there to be delays with installations. Turns out home improvement jobs were deemed essential and relatively business as usual with some exceptions. I was extraordinarily disappointed and frustrated with the lack of coordination in getting the installation job scheduled. The installer provided a range of reasons why the work could not be scheduled including their main guy went on vacation to still pending building permits. In early July after making a significant number of calls I went into the store to request a refund on both the deck and fence. After some in-store negations the work was scheduled and installation began 2 weeks later. The installers did awesome work but Lowes sent damaged deck parts that brought the job to a grinding halt 2 weeks into the job. Today is October 3, 2020 and this is the condition my deck has been in since the August 7, 2020. I was told not to use the deck because it hasn't been completed and therefore not safety inspection. I haven't heard from Lowes in a couple of weeks, and counting. I do not recommend this Lowes installation team for deck and fence work...AT ALL. I did not/am not having a good experience with the La Plata, MD Lowes location. read more

Went there for a shop vac. I am partially disabled and can't walk too much. I went to the entrance to ask about shop vacs and was told to go to aisle 18, which was the wrong location. I found them after searching on my own in another section. I also wanted to buy and outdoor carpet, but they kept closing off sections so it was like going through a damn puzzle. After I got what I needed I went to the cashier, by the name of Katie. I told her I had military discount and gave her my phone number. She said she needed my I.D. despite that. I was annoyed because in all the years I've shopped there all I needed was to give my phone number that has my discount displayed. She said we're supposed to ask for I.D. After paying I asked her if my discount was given. Instead of saying yes or no she went on a rant that there were certain items there were no discounts for. I told her that I knew that and it applied to items already on sale. These were not. Then she finally told me that I had the discount. Either she is an ill trained rookie or a very dense young lady. She made my experience aggravating and annoying in addition to getting around the store. read more

In a world where it is so easy to jump out there and blast about the things that don't please us, I am compelled to review an utterly awesome experience while designing our new kitchen ..... My husband and I are building a house 5-1/2 hours away. After disappointing experiences with two other designers, one worse than the other, working with Abraham Robbins in the kitchen department of the LaPlata Lowe's was an enormous relief!! If I had to state this briefly, it would be that Abraham really listened to me. I felt heard!! And while that might not seem like much, it is. My first designer had all my criteria verbally, in writing, and with pictures. His design was everything I said I didn't want and nothing of what I asked for. The second designer was much better (it couldn't get any worse) but he carried a line that didn't have some specific pieces that were important to me. Then I found Kraftmaid. Then I found Abraham. I met with Abraham on Monday August 2, 2021 and he nailed it on that first appointment! Yes, there are tweaks that we addressed later that same week but he really grasped exactly what I wanted. And to be honest I provided him with less to work with than the first two designers! He made really good suggestions too! What a blessing to have Abraham in the LaPlata store!! He was patient. He was prompt in responses. After the first hour with him, I never questioned if I was with the right person to make our dream kitchen a reality. This la Plata Lowes is the worst establishment. I went to this location to return some fence post and soon as I reach the customer service desk about 4 to 5 ladies sitting around, looking at at us like we were crazy like and stole something . No one acknowledge us Or greeted us. One lady was coming off of her break name Erica she gave us a greeting and ask have you been helped I told her no one even acknowledge us after sitting there for 5 minutes. The associate Erica proceeds to return my items she had to ask Cindy, which was popping her gum standing in the back, watching as the line grows longer. This Lowe's has a bunch of associates that are a waste of payroll. Another incident I had at this location was I ordered some fence panels online. It had been three days before I said to myself let me go to the store to see when my order will be ready. I get to the online pickup Desk and the Caucasian gentleman proceeds to tell me my order is not in stock. I told him how can that be because it is right on the shelf. I just walked past it. So I had to show the Team Lead where my order was inside of the store because he had no clue. The fence panels were so damaged in dirty they should've been in the clearance section not sold for $116 at regular price. I declined my order and canceled because of the damage Merchandise. This store lacks customer service big-time associates do not know their store and not knowledgeable. For what I observed, the management team needs to be questioned on their ability to manage and teach and train their associate. read more

I had rated this Lowes' 1 star like other Yelpers. I deleted that rating about 2 weeks ago. It was a vicious (I call um as I see um) but highly accurate rating about the Appliance Dept & overtones of racial profiling by a SA. I wish now that I had not deleted it, for comparison purposes. My latest encounter was 180 degrees different, like day is from night. I needed 40 kitchen cabinets knobs. I knew the ones I wanted because i have them in 2 bathrooms. I go to the bin and there is exactly 1 knob in the bin. I go to the desk in the hardware department and there are 3 busy SAs. The young female SA who was stocking an item ask if I need help and I show her the 1 cabinet knob and ask her if there are more. She checks the inventory using a handheld devise and says there are no more but 24 are due in soon. I saunter away then come back to ask if the knobs can be special ordered because 24 of them wouldn't work either. One of the male SA says it can be done but the 3 of them don't know exactly how to enter the transaction into the database to make it happen. One of the male SAs have a "lightbulb" idea and says "Call Sherrie". Sherrie not only knows how to make it happen but she does it with a smile (my kind of Shero). She uses the transaction as a teaching moment for the young female SA (another star). At the end of the database entry, she gives me specific instructions, w/o being condescending, on what to expect & when (another star). She tells me exactly what to say at checkout also. I repeat her words at checkout and BINGO. I fly thru checkout. Shucks, my MyLowes' Card number was even on my receipt even though I didn't have my card with me. (Another star) Two days later Sherrie calls me and leave a vm on my iPhone. She intercepted my cabinet knobs on the delivery dock. Do not go to Customer Service come to the Lumber Department and tell the person at the cash register to look by the printer for the box with my name on it. She tells me she is there until 6:30PM. I don't hesitate when I get the vm. Within the hour, I am at Lowe's. I follow Sherrie's VM instructions and I am out of Lowes' in 10 minutes flat with my 40 cabinet knobs. I am smiling. I heart Sherrie and the 3 other women that were involved in this transaction. (My bad for not getting all the names.) Ok, a little love for the male SA who said, call Sherrie too. (Another star) EUREKA! This is as good as it gets! The men in the Appliance Dept need some OJT. Call Sherrie! BOTTOMLINE: So Lowe's is like the elephant and the blind men feeling it. Your take away is very dependent on what part of this elephant you come into contact with. Perhaps some stores get so big QC of SAs suffer to the detriment of the organization. Don't bother telephoning -- if you are within 30 minutes, it's faster to drive there. You could hang on hold forever. People will periodically pick up, ask what you're holding for (flooring, lawn and garden, plumbing -- it doesn't matter, nobody picks up), then they'll say "hold please," and I guess attempt to transfer you again. Back you go on hold. This has happened to me multiple times, no matter the dept. It's less frustrating to drive through traffic. Now, once you arrive in person, the staff is great. They are helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. If the associate does not know the answer, he or she will stay with you and find someone who does. David and Bob in Flooring, Bob in lighting, Ed in electronics -- all these folks and many whose names I've forgotten (yeah I spend a LOT of time in Lowe's) are great. The cashiers and service desk staff are always friendly and helpful . But the telephone experience is awful. Maybe it's a ploy to get people to come in the store? It's a whole different experience if you do. But if you've already got an order or estimate pending and need to check the status, it's SOOOO aggravating!! maybe there could be a special phone number given to those customers to get past the phone purgatory. So one star for phone service, 5 stars for in-person service...that means 3 stars overall. read more

Ordered online ($1800 order) and was assigned to LaPlata as the fulfillment store. Delivery was scheduled as July 6 (5 days from order placed as an 8am-8pm delivery date). Wasn't given a choice or any other contact but I made that day work for my schedule. The day came and went- no contact, no show, online status still shows in process. Cannot reach anyone via phone or chat so cancelled order online on July 7. Poor customer service and delivery is a joke. read more

They cannot even tell you what isle the product is in. They make you feel like a pinball. I avoid shopping at this Lowes at all costs. I usually make the drive to the Home Depot in Waldorf, occasionally I resort to this Lowes when I am short on time. In all the times I have shopped here, I have NEVER been helped by an employee, or asked if I needed assistance, and if I approach them, ipthey are always very rude. A couple of times, I was even flat out ignored by them, when I did try to get help. Lucky for me I have a handyman Dad who I can call for help. On one trip when I needed to pick up a few bags of concrete, I asked an employee where in the store it was located, his response was to throw an arm hour and say "that way", then stomp off like I had ruined his whole day. Once I made it to the aisle with the concrete, I realized the kind I needed was on a shelf above my head (I'm rather short). I spent a few minutes searching for someone to help me, to no avail. So I spent the next twenty minutes doing ridiculous acrobatics involving 20+ lb. bags of sand and concrete. Overall, if you have time to make the extra 15 minute journey to Waldorf, do it. Waldorf has both a Home Depot and a Lowes. Anything, at this point, is better. read more

If I could choose ZERO reviews I would. I started a whole house window install project with Lowes, Laplata, MD in March, 2021with Michael Confer, the install project manager. Mr Confer was the most pleasant and helpful person during our initial meeting. The project was scheduled and when the installer, J & J Aluminum, arrived to install the windows they informed me that one of the windows was broken, they notified Lowes, and Lowes said they would order a new one and let me know when the window came in. FAST FORWARD 7 MONTHS LATER, October 2021, still one of my windows has not been installed. I called Lowes several times even contacted Mr. Confer who swore he can get the replacement ordered and installed, well HE DIDN'T. What happened was 2 installers from J&J aluminum showed with a "window sash" not the whole window and said that is what they were told to install 'HALF A WINDOW." Once again I started contacting Lowe's Customer Care, Lowes store, Laplata, MD, and Mr. Confer. I received a new install date October 15, 2021. The morning of October 15, 2021, I got a call from J&J aluminum indicating that when they arrived to pick-up the window from Lowes, LaPlata, MD the window was broken.......NOT AGAIN! I believe Lowes, LaPlata never ordered a new window and tried to give the installer the same broken window. So, ONCE AGAIN i stated contacting Lowes' customer care and the were able to get in touch with a Manager at Lowes, Laplata, MD: Jerome E, who swore he was going to get it taken care of, get the window ordered, and call me back THAT DAY. Well I am still waiting on a return call from Jerome E with an update on my replacement window. I asked MANY times, how can I escalate my issue, and no one could tell me OR wanted to tell me. I have been trying to track down the Lowes Executive Team to lodge my complaint.....nothing. We expected a charge for some metal drop down strips. We showed Lowe's associate which 1/2 hp opener we were buying. We asked what else we could expect, he said they would call us. The company they hired did a nice job. Then they charged / extorted us for another $119 for installation. OMG. We were forced to pay them. We are fighting tooth and nail to get it reversed. This evening I was purchasing materials and hardware and having some difficulties with deck screws until Sharon came along and offered her help. She solved the problem immediately and suggested I buy some spare bits for this project and even went to another aisle and got the bits for me. Awesome service. Very friendly. Very professional. And greatly appreciated! Thank you! Ok. Ten days later (today) I returned to this LOWES and asked for help to find items I could not locate. The gentleman was very helpful in finding all these items. Then I began loading sheets of OSB onto a cart when another employee came over to help me. The cashier was also very friendly and professional. Once outside, the same employee that helped me load the cart was waiting and helped me load everything into my truck! What's up? I think aliens may have taken over LOWES in La Plata!! I had gotten to the point of stopping shopping here until I met an employee named George in the tool section. I used to go to Lowes for almost of all of my hardware sales then I purchased sales that weren't great for me, but I realized that the problem was the sale representative. The best representative was a representative named George in the hand tool section. He asked me what I planned to use the tools for and then he told me which ones would be the best! I appreciate a salesman who knows how to steer me to what I know that will be the best for my usage as well as someone who cares to be a customer representative. I actually ended up buying a couple of things that I wasn't there for, but they were exactly what I needed! He wasn't a con artist. He was just aware of what you need to achieve different goals. Empty promises is all I can say to sum up the appliance department. Don't even get me started on lawn mowers. So, the gentleman promised up and down that our dishwasher was to be delivered today, 11/28/14. Plenty of them were going to be available. I pressed him hard on the promise because taking off work is a very, very big deal for me. Well, I get a call this morning...delivery day....the dishwashers are not available and won't be until at least Dec 2nd. So, here i am, a big hole where the broken dishwasher was, no water to the kitchen and no use of the kitchen sink. Oh, and no other comparable dishwashers are available. No offers of good faith, nothing. Just an "oh well, sucks to be you" response. This shouldn't surprise me being that home improvement projects never go as planned. What bothers me is the absolute promise that was made that it would be here!!! I cant tell you how utterly disappointed and upset i am at this point. This IS the last time we shop at this Lowe's. Everyone was super helpful, friendly and said hi in passing. My paint samples were done quickly and the gentleman even came down the paint supply aisles to let me know. At the checkout, I was attempting self checkout as there was no line and my baby was fussy. An associate came up and canceled my sale and personally rang me up on the head register in front of the self checkouts (so I could tend to my baby and he took care of the sale) how nice!!!
