Beware when having an appliance delivered from Lowe's in the Chicagoland area. I ordered a refrigerator online from the Lowe's website on a Monday night since the site said I could have it delivered on Thursday that week if I paid an additional $39 for FAST Delivery. Thursday was the only day I had availability that week, and I'd been without a working refrigerator for a week. So I needed the refrigerator ASAP. I got a notification the day before the delivery date saying that the refrigerator would be delivered between 12:30 and 4:30 pm on Thursday. On Thursday, I got a voicemail at 4 pm from Lowe's third-party delivery company, saying my delivery team would be late and to expect them around 5 or 5:30. Since no one arrived or contacted me by 6:30, I called the third-party delivery company, who said their truck broken down, so they couldn't deliver that day. I thought that was odd since they had to have other trucks in their fleet that they could use to hit the delivery date. (I later found they have 40 trucks in their fleet.) Still wanting delivery that Thursday, the delivery company transferred me to Lowe's, who said that not only could I NOT get my refrigerator on Thursday, they couldn't deliver it the next day either on Friday. The soonest it could be delivered was SATURDAY. I asked if they could refund me the money I paid to have the refrigerator delivered with FAST Delivery on Thursday since they failed to meet that delivery date, but they said I'd need to wait until the refrigerator was delivered. The refrigerator was delivered on Saturday, and the delivery crew did an excellent job. BUT, they too were confused why my refrigerator delivery wasn't moved to the next day (Friday). On Thursday the following week, I called Lowe's Customer Care to see if they could issue me a credit not only for the $39 fee but also an additional discount since I hadn't purchased an appliance before from Lowe's, and this had been an awful experience. They said they never charged me for the $39, which I thought had been baked into the other refrigerator costs. All they said they could do was issue me a $50 gift card. Since I didn't want to be forced to make another purchase and possibly have another negative experience, I asked if they could add a credit back to my credit card instead. They said they couldn't, so I declined the gift card and am now leaving this review about my experience. I did try to leave a review on the Lowe's website with my experience, but they declined to post it. All in all, this felt like a bait and switch tactic, where I was lured in with the appeal of FAST Delivery but then actually got my delivery at a later time than I'd wanted (and not even the next day). I only purchased this refrigerator from Lowe's since I thought it'd be delivered on Thursday with FAST Delivery. If they couldn't have delivered on Thursday, I would have bought a refrigerator from another company. read more

The wood I needed for a project at Lowe's on 83st was bad. We went thru at least 50 pieces to find wht we could use. None was usable but on the above rack was new wood. Couldn't get any1 to help. Finally a guy said he would get them down 4 us after going to the customer care station and asking 4 a manager. Over a hr later he was shut down by a cashier name Rossa. Who said no as if we supposed to take bad wood 4 our project. Called the manager he/she never showed up. If ur trying to take care home improvement do not go there. I will never do business with this company again, they tell you one thing and they do another, from the store clerk all the way to corporate you get the runaround. I purchased three security storm doors which came up to almost $1900. They sent someone out to measure the my door frame. Apparently this person didn't know what they were doing. The doors were ordered once they were to be installed two doors the third door didn't fit I was told by corporate that they would rectify the issue because the sales woman was very nasty and I spoke to someone in corporate I was told that because of the rude and nasty way that I was treated by their representative that I will get the for free now I'm getting the runaround. I went to Lowes (83rd & Holland) to buy some plexiglass, I found the item and I wanted to get it cut to a specific size. I ask a girl to call someone that could help. I watch her the whole time (no call or announcement over the mic), all she did was play on her phone. I go and find a young man who immediately said he just punched out however he did walk down to ask the customer service guys to call someone to help. After yet another 15 minutes waiting I left the store. Young people mess with Lowes money, the item I has was about $100.00, both individuals I spoke with were not older than 25. Other than quick items I need I won't be back to this location. I hate to drive out to other folk's neighborhoods to get good service. I used to frequent this Lowes because at one time their service was good (much better than the Home Depot a few blocks away). Our own young people mess things up! read more

I placed an order to have a dishwasher delivered and installed and to have my old machine removed, all for an additional fee. Today, when they dropped off the machine, I informed the delivery men of the haul away and installment arrangement I'd made and they asked if the old machine had been disconnected; I told them yes. A few minutes later, when I returned to the kitchen, the box containing the new machine was sitting in the middle of my kitchen, the old machine had not been removed, and the delivery men were gone. I called the corporate support office to report the incident and they informed me that delivery people don't install appliances (even though he asked me if the old machine had been disconnected) and that it might take up to 7 days for someone to install the new machine and remove the old one. What I'd like to know is 1: Why wasn't I informed of this policy when I paid for the services? 2. Why didn't the delivery guys mention the policy at the time of delivery? This whole process strikes me as underhanded and unprofessional. I'm very dissatisfied and disappointed. And I have a huge box sitting in the middle of my kitchen for, possibly, the next week. read more

This place is the best, man. I'm telling you! Lowes place is one of the most iconic shops that I have ever been to and it definitely does not disappoint every time I go there. This place is clean and tidy, you would really love looking around and discovering the shop's every item. Every essential need that you need to improve your estate is here. From a simple desk to lamps and stuff. Not all that, their products are really all top notch. Immaculate, all are in good and high qualities. Since I got my own condo unit, this is the first place I would always go to if ever I need to either buy or repair some of my belongings. I'll do my best to go to the place. It is not just about their products yet also their phenomenal service. Their employees are really polite, patient and professional. They would really assist you at every part of the place and help you to find what you need. They also state their opinions on which are the best supplies they have and the best ones that are in an even higher quality. Definitely recommending this place! Horrible service. If you can go to any other Lowe's or Home Depot save yourself the time and disappointment. I placed an online order and arrived to pick it up. I followed the instructions on the placards in the parking lot to call the store number and dial the extension - 4140. I had to complete this process twice because there's no prompt to dial an extension and I had to reach customer service first. When the customer service rep answered she asked for my order numbers and I supplied them. She explained that it would take 10 minutes for the order to be completed and brought to my car. She stated, "Don't leave the parking lot". Ok, if someone is saying don't leave the parking space then the order should be on its way out. Right? Wrong. 45 minutes later, I decide to shop my own order. After waiting in a line to enter the store and gathering the 5 items that I ordered I proceed to the register. At the first register I informed that the store has an old payment system and doesn't accept Apple Pay or Google pay. I leave that line to get into the customer service line. After waiting in that line for 25 minutes I encounter 2 more customers who have also had issues with online orders/curbside pickup. One woman stated that she had ordered YESTERDAY and that she was told that her order was ready. To her dismay, the associate sent to pull her order could only find ONE of the items she purchased. After the young lady in customer service sent her away, they found her order but the woman had already left the store. To make a long story short, I was able to complete my order but only after shopping for it myself. I could've saved an hour and 45 minutes by just doing the work myself. This store is not equipped to handle online orders/curbside pickup. Don't fall for it. What was intended to be a convenience, actually turned into a huge inconvenience. Ugh. read more

Never ever buy a major appliance from this store. They send out jack leg service companies who will lie about the work they do to get paid from Lowe's. Service rep came out and clearly was over his head and was calling supervisors. He was suppose to call back never did and sent in a report stating that everything was working fine. The first thing Lowes can do is better accommodate their customers when a mistake is made on their end. After waiting several months for Lowes to deliver the privacy fence that I purchased, when they arrived, Lowes delivered the wrong pallet. After being told that my pallet will be expedited, I waited another two months for the delivery & install to be completed. The second thing Lowes can do is replace the contact company called "Premier Fence". After giving Lowes the "Plat Of Survey" of my property, the workers from Premier Fence still managed to cut the underground electrical power line from my house to the garage while digging the holes for the posts. "Oops" is what was told to me after the damage was done. Then one of the workers proceeded to tell me that they were not responsible for cutting or damaging private lines. $2500 dollars is what Premier Fence cost me out of pocket for their mistake. I will Never use or recommend Lowes to do another installation/project on my property again. I am Completely Disappointed and Dissatisfied with the Entire Installation process that Lowes has to offer. read more

We purchased a Samsung washer and dryer from Lowe's in Chatham. We thought we would shop in the neighborhood as opposed to going outside of the area. Our dryer went out on October 6 we contacted Lowe's who then connected us with the service provider. after setting up an appointment they never showed up and they stopped answering their phone. Lowe's they sent us to another service provider. After numerous phone calls the situation is still unresolved. Lowe's uses outside contractors for service. They have no control over this process. If you complain you get "lip service ". No call back to see if the issue is resolved. We'll NEVER purchase an appliance from Lowe's again. We'd rather shop at Abt. read more

This store was the only place that had a short water heater I needed. I ordered and paid for it online. Received an email acknowledgement and I should wait for an email saying it was ready. That never happened. I went the next day, parked in the pickup space, called the phone number on the sign. It said to use 4140 extension....doesn't work. Called again & got customer service....unable to understand a word she said. Gave her the order number and where I was parked.....30 min later nothing. 4 cars came while we were there picked up their order in 10 min and left while we sat. Finally a young man came buy we asked for help. It took him another 45 minutes. All toll were sat there for over an hour. Horrible service, person answering the phone could care less. read more

Lowes is the "Target" of hardware stores. Their locations are always more organized, cleaner, and modern compared to other hardware stores. However, you're going to pay a little more. But to us it's worth it. This location is no different. When you walk inside it doesn't look like a chaotic warehouse. The staff there was very professional and helped us find what we were looking for in a timely matter. They seem to have everything in stock. If anybody has gone shopping in this area they know that most stores are crowded and hectic. We try to avoid this area at all costs. However, this Lowes location is an outlier. If I could give this location zero stars I would. Utterly disappointed at the down right lack of professionalism and horrendous customer service I've recieved from Lowe's located in Chicago on 83rd & Steward. On 8/26/19, my husband and I purchased a range for our kitchen. We were told that the delivery of the range would be around or on 9/12/19. The associate stated that we would receive a phone call the day before the delivery, to let us know what time to expect the delivery. About a week before 9/12/19, we received a call from the store associate stating the there was a manufacturing delay on our range and that the delivery date was pushed back another two weeks to 9/26/19. We received a call from a trucking company on 9/11/19, stating that they would be delivering our range on 9/12/19. My husband attempted to call the store several times but was unable to speak with anyone because he was placed on hold several times and then the call was finally disconnected by the store. On 9/12/19, my husband went to the store to discuss the delivery with an associate. The associate stated that in their system the delivery was not scheduled until 9/26/19. My husband asked if they can reschedule the delivery and the associate rescheduled the delivery for 9/18/19. We did not receive a phone call on 9/17/19, so my husband returned to the store on 9/18/19 and the assistant manager stated that the item was not in the store and that the delivery was not scheduled until 9/26/19. On 9/20/19, we received a phone call from a store associate stating that our range was in the store and was scheduled to be delivered on 9/22/19 between 2:30pm and 6:30pm. On 9/22/19 at 5:15pm, we called the delivery vendor to find out when the range will be arriving. The associate stated that the range was not placed on their truck for delivery. Essentially our PAID FOR stove is being held hostage by this store. With so many home improvement competitors in this market, do yourself a favor, patronize a company with professionalism, superior customer and one who will appreciate your business. read more

I went to this location to buy a wall oven and schedule an installation. The employee helped me schedule someone to come measure and explained after that, they would contact me and recommend an oven based on the sizes. The installer came, measure, and stated that the store would call me the next week (post-Thanksgiving holiday). I reached out to the store on 11/29 as I had not heard from anyone about ordering and wanted to ask if I had to order via the store or online. I was asked by the employee in Appliances what oven I had picked out. I asked if they had any recommendations and she said that no. Luckily I had been looking online and had an idea of what I needed. I placed an order over the phone for an oven, the install, the install kit, and the "custom work" needed (it's a weird size so they needed to make a cut- the reason I went to them). Never received a confirmation e-mail from the store that the order had been placed. I was told my oven would be delivered to the store by the "Delivery Date" estimated on the website. I ended up having to exchange for a new oven as the original was delayed. I confirmed with the store and with a customer service person who processed the exchange that everything else would still be the same- that Lowe's would be doing the install and the installer would still be picking up from the store. The customer service person said yes, everything would still be the same and that the only thing changing would be the oven. I received a call from Lowe's saying that there would be a delay in the delivery, which was fine. I then received a call from the installer to schedule the installation. I asked if they could still schedule it without an oven being delivered, which the answer was no and it had appeared that they received the information in error. The installer gave me their number to call back once the order was in so I did not have to wait for the store to contact them. Lowe's called to tell me the order was delivered and I left a message with the installer that the order was in. I then received a call from the delivery company recording that evening confirming my Lowe's delivery would be delivered to my home "tomorrow between 11 and 1". I called the company back and was unable to get someone to pick up. I called the store and, after being bounced around on hold, I was able to speak to someone in deliveries to explain that no, my order was not being delivered to my house but was supposed to be picked up by the Lowe's installer when I was able to schedule the installation (at this point, I had not heard back from the installer). The person I spoke with confirmed that the delivery would skip my house and that they would hold it at the store until the installer picked it up as previously discussed. I heard back from the company scheduling the install and was able to schedule it. They confirmed they'd let the store know. Between that day and the delivery, I talked to the store multiple times telling them that no, I am not having the oven delivered to my house and that their installer will be picking it up. I spoke to people multiple times in one day repeatedly explaining this. I spoke to someone at the store the day before the install when they called to ask when I was picking up my oven. I stated that I was not picking it up but per many previous calls the Lowe's installer would be picking it up the next day for the installation. I then received a call on on the install date from the installer that the store could not find my order and that they were saying it was delivered to my house. I explained to him that I had spoken to the store on multiple occasions that the order was being picked up by him at the store- that the order was not being delivered to my house. He apologized and said he would keep working with the store to find out what was going on. The installer then called back 30 minutes later confirming that they had found the oven and it was on their truck. The installation went fine. I asked the installer what happened at the store, and he said that they could not find the order originally but then an employee asked the delivery manager, who said it was up at customer service because "the customer said she was coming to pick it up last week". DO NOT USE IF YOU NEED AN INSTALL. You'll get nothing but headaches from a disorganized mess. read more

No employees around for aisles and aisles. I called the store from my cell and said I needed help in the wood cutting area, they announced it....crickets. I typically get pretty good customer service here. Associates eager to help find what's needed. I brought in a paint sample that I'd cut from the wall. I was preparing to do some touch up work. They're color match technology quickly find an exact match. Found a gallon of Val spar for about $25. Downside was that even though it was a busy SATURDAY they only had one or two registered open and none of the self service lanes. read more

I purchased a 75 gallon water heater in April of 2016. I also purchased an extended warranty. My water heater stopped producing hot water. Called the store and got the run around. Had to call 3 times. Was put on hold 2 times and got disconnected. Nobody could find my paper work. The final call I was instructed to call a 877 number. Was transferred to the manufacturer. Finally I was connected to someone who wanted to know a plethora of information. I was given the number of 2 vendors to call. Nobody informed me that I would have to go through so many calls to get service. Lowes doesn't keep your information in their computers. So if you get an extended warranty make sure you keep the receipt and hope it doesn't fade when you need it. I will never but anything from Lowes again. read more

I ordered a vacuum from one of their location and a few weeks later they called to tell me that my vacuum was ready for pick up. You can imagine my surprise when I went in to pick up the vacuum and they told me that they would not honor the price I had already paid for for the vacuum. I spent a couple of hours there- spoke to the manager and instead of honoring the AMOUT I HAD ALREADY PAID- they told me they couldn't and gave me a refund. What kind of store is this? And what kind of corporation allows their store to mistreat their customers- where is the customer service ? There is absolutely not reason why I shouldn't have been able to pick up a vacuum that I had already paid for- with no issues but instead I drove about 45 minutes if not more to a store only to come home empty handed. read more
