I called on June 25, 2026 at approximately 3:12 pm. I spoke with a lady inquiring about hydrangeas. She asked me to hold on. I said of course. She put the phone down and I could hear her talking to other customers. I thought she was going to check on the hydrangeas. But, she never returned. I continued to wait and could clearly hear her talking to customers. It is now 3:28pm and I am still on hold listening. I didn't want to be too hasty, but I truly believe she detected my race and disregard me- forcing me to hang up. I will never do business with them and will not recommend. read more

It may be a little out of the way, but the owner is fantastic & very knowledgeable. The prices are very fair & the quality is always good. I have had the clematis (several) I bought there for years. I needed potting soil with no holes & no gnats. She had plenty, inside. Take the ride. You'll be glad that you did. read more

I've been told many apartment building managers use Growers Outlet for their gardening needs. The plants, if not always a real bargain-- are always healthy and good-sized. They stock most of the best-known annuals, perennials, flowering shrubs and trees, as well as fruits, vegetables, and bulbs in season. GO also makes up flowerpot arrangements for those wanting lovely flowers with less effort. Finally, the establishment also stocks pots, troughs, clippers, and a small assortment of fertilizers and mulches. Of necessity, the choices are naturally fewer than those offered in big box stores. Still, I nearly always find something I want , even if I don't always find what I was looking to use. Growers Outlet is a long-time local resource. I stopped by Growers Outlet yesterday because as a child, I remembered my Mother shopped there and I wanted to support a local shop. Upon approaching the store, it looked bad and nothing as I remembered. I was looking for shrubs and inquired about the price for a 1-gallon boxwood, which was very small. I was told the item was $89.99, totally shocked, I couldn't believe what I just heard. The day before I went out to the suburbs looking for the same shrub and it was priced at $44.00. Needless to say, I didn't make a purchase due to the lackluster offerings and also the fact the prices were double that at the other store I visited. read more

Even late in the season I found exactly the vegetable seedlings I was looking for plus there were so many varieties of annual and perennial flowers that I had to restrain myself from overbuying. Excellent service, very friendly staff, competitive prices, and George the cat make this a great place to get all my gardening needs. I've been going to this place for years to pick up my herbs, tomato plants, and the occasional flower or vine. Their plants are healthy, robust, and modestly priced. Even though I have kind of a black thumb, they do well. Some of those tomato plants have turned out to be monsters, in a good way. And this is from someone who doesn't help his plants along with anything more than a little weeding and occasional watering. The people there are extremely nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. And sometimes there is a cat hanging around, always a bonus. Parking is easy around there. Highly recommended! read more

As if I haven't failed at enough things throughout my dismal life, I have chosen small scale agriculture to "drop the ball on". After giving botany some work early in my twenties( let's just say it rhymes with "flannibas"), i thought I would give harmless eatable vegetables a go this year. Decided to give different hot peppers, fresh herbs, and some cabbage a try this year. I was also very interested in growing my own potatoes this year as well. Most places had the peppers, and cabbage but no potato seeds( a.k..a "potato tubers"). I was directed to this establishment by an older fellow whom informed me it was family owned for the last fourty years. I took a gamble and headed over to their place of business. A nice family run place indeed. I was taken care of from the choosing of plants\ seeds and soils, to tips, and having the woman's son help me carry my goods out to my truck. The woman whom ran the joint was very helpful and social. Reminding me of the older stores and times before attrocities like Home Depot and Lowes popped up. Sad, this places of mass selling and low customer service putting places like this out of business. If you want some veggie seeds,plant, or flowers skip the big box stores, and head here for your selection(s). Keep these places alive and personal service. read more

Very personable and helpful. Good selection of reasonably priced flowers, plants, vegetables, and soil mixes. Loaded up our car for us.

Remember this place from when I was a child. You could pull your car up, pay for bushel baskets of black dirt, then go outside and help yourself-shovel was provided. Always had wonderful plants. Not sure if it is still around but miss the wonderful customer service this place and so many others provided. In the big box stores you can fall over dead and would be there forever waiting for someone to help you. As long as I am able, no matter where I live, I will always try to support small businesses. read more
