There's a joke in the Family Guy episode where employees in stores like Lowe's and home improvement hide from customers so that they don't have to help them, this has never been more abundantly true than this location. Employees would avoid eye contact. I would have to practically chase them down to ask a simple question like "where do I pick up my order" and they would just shrug "customer service" and go back to ignoring me, like i knew where that was. when I had to ask again, They just pointed and said "that way" and went back to what they were doing. I had to ask at least two or three people on the way to customer service how to get there. When I got there, nobody really wanted to help me and it took over 15 minutes for them to bring a floor model to the front. I was told I could take the floor model because they were out of stock of the refrigerator I wanted in the back, and the only stipulation was that I would have to have it delivered myself. so we deliver this refrigerator up a flight of stairs to my house and the next morning I plugged it in, did everything the manual said, and turns out it doesn't work. When I called I was told, "we sell those as is, you cannot return it, call whirlpool, and have them deal with it with your warranty." I was not told this was a not returnable, I thought I had 30 days. When the manager discovered they didn't have any models in the back, he said "here's what I'll do for you. I'll let you take this one for 220 bucks. You'll just have to deliver it yourself. I can't offer delivery." He made it sound like he was doing me a favor, and I bought it hook line and sinker. you would think a reputable store like Lowe's wouldn't steal money from customers by selling defective - no, BROKEN products. The air in my house is cooler than inside the refrigerator. When I told them that the only stipulation was that I had to deliver it myself and that was the only thing that I was told. I was not told that Lowe's, again, a supposedly "reputable company" would not accept a return of defective equipment sold to customers, BY A MANAGER, and basically steal my money. the person I spoke to on the phone, who actually did sound like the manager that sold me the fridge said "well I didn't sell it to you", implying it's the mistake of whoever sold it to me. If you would like me to point this manager out, I'd be happy to. I have never been so disgusted by a company like this, and I feel completely robbed by Lowe's corporation, and the employees there that have no integrity whatsoever. read more

My husband bought a garden hose that had a 5 year warranty. Well the garden hose busted at the end so when we tried to return it today the woman at the return counter was not the friendliest. She told us we would have to call the company and return to the company. I asked her to look it up in the computer because that is not what the packaging on the hose stated. She mumbled under her breathe and then looked up in computer and sure enough it is to be returned to the store. She didn't refund the original payment but we did get a Lowes gift card. I can't spend a day with my mom without stopping by every Lowe's we pass. We beelined to the garden center, like always. They have a great selection of flowers and plants. The weather was nice so everyone else had the same idea to go to Lowe's. The lines were long and slow--there are only two registers in the garden center. The cashier seemed a little annoyed with the other associate and wasn't too friendly to us or her. The parking lot can be a bit confusing if you're not familiar with it. read more

Go to a different Lowe's. This one is infested with rats and all complaints have gone unheard. These rat nests have been there for 3 weeks and the smell of rat pee is overwhelming. Plants have rat chew marks all over them. Also this Lowe's doesn't have any viable discount plants while all the other Lowe's have racks of discounted plants that you have a chance to save. read more

Since buying a home in 2013, we've become regulars at Lowe's. I'll say it's our first stop for home needs or when things break. Most of our appliances (fridge, washer/dryer) came from Lowe's even after shopping around. We've also purchased flowers and plants here. We've always gotten good service at Lowe's, and they offer delivery and haul-away of old appliances. Since we don't own a truck, this is huge for us and a big reason why we buy at Lowe's. They also have free wi-fi inside the store, and if you need a truck to bring something home that doesn't have free delivery (like a grill), you can rent the truck onsite for a reasonable price. read more

I purchased three items from Lowes on Feb 4th and del on the 5th.purchased a dishwasher, Fridge, and a Induction glass top stove with a built in air fryer. The first stove was damaged and had to return. Reschedule for a new del for the 2nd stove. The 2nd stove was del but the oven part worked and the stove top would not turn on. I have been out of a stove for going on for 2 weeks and not happy at all. I am having to get my brand new stove worked on that I have not been able to cook on yet. Lowes told me I went past the 42 hr time limit to trade.Its mind blowing that Lowes or the company who made these items will not stand behind their product. I can understand if I had this item for a month or so but.....it was broke right out of the box. Lowes would not help me so they connected me to Frigidaire to reschedule anther appt to have a tech come out. You should not be asking me when do you want a tech to come out to fix a brand new unit.You should be asking when can we del your new unit to your house. West Ashley Lowe's: Like everyone else, I came during COVID-19 to work on house projects, primarily renovating bathrooms with inexpensive but functional, updated materials (inserts and vanities). Prices were good, but many items were out of stock. It took forever to find associated for help, and we were told that out-of-stock items would take several weeks to arrive to the store. We went with some in-stock items, but inventory was low so we did not get our first pick. It took literal hours for the employees to get things down with fork lifts and load in our trailer. Lowe's remains dog-friendly inside. I noticed that this location in West Ashley has much more product than James Island, and this is also a cleaner location. read more

Out of all the local home improvement stores in the area, I've had some of my better experiences at this one. They can't all be perfect and it honestly depends on the day and who you deal with. I definitely had a mishap at this store with a rude register clerk who was just not willing to do her job, but then again it was remedied by a manager after all was said and done. Most recently, I purchased a storm door with installation from here. I looked at multiple stores and liked the product/brand selection here. Also, the guy in that department (maybe Logan) was super knowledgeable about the doors, pricing, and features. We ended up buying a more expensive option but got a sale price on the install. It was a bit of a longer process because of the sale (everyone else getting new doors to I guess) but everything came together and it looks great. So far, I'm very happy with this purchase from end to end! read more

I worked for this Lowe's store for 2+ years. I was wrongly terminated. The current management has caused several issues. I incurred injuries during my employment and was denied worker's compensation. Now I am uninsured and continuously dealing with Sedgwick and the issues forthwith. Although I felt that it was the better of the Lowe's locations in the Charleston area, it will not be in the future. read more

I made my first major purchase for my home at this store in the beginning of 2018, which was vinyl planking for my house. There were many highs and lows during this process and from start to finish it took about 6 months to complete but all in all the end result is beautiful! I started by going to the website to inquire about scheduling a measurement and I submitted my request through their website (I posted a screen shot). To this day I have never received a call from anyone. When I went to the store in person I told the staff that I put in a request they didn't even know that was an option. So I wouldn't recommend using the website option to request a quote. I'm not sure where the request went but it didn't go to store or the contractor. Also, I would not suggest calling the store unless you have to because they are very understaffed in the customer service/returns area. It's not the fault of the staff however, they are literally just swamped doing their in-store job with customers. My experience with staff was all positive in regards to attitude and how they treated me. Everyone was super nice and tried to be as helpful as they could be. It was apparent that some of the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. I initially went in looking at porcelain wood tile and had to track down an older gentleman who seemed knowledgeable in flooring but unfortunately he wasn't able to assist me any further because it wasn't his department. I guess they are not allowed to help you too much if they don't work in that particular department, but that was just the impression I got. I was referred to a nice young man who didn't even look at tile with me, which is why I suspect he didn't know anything about flooring. He immediately took me over to put my info into the computer and referred me to the interior project manager. I was called rather promptly and after a quick chat it was established that I didn't need to meet with her because I wasn't doing any major renovations. She put a referral in to the flooring department and the woman that called me was AMAZING. If it weren't for her i would've gone somewhere else. She put me in for a measurement and the next day I had the contractor call me to come measure the rooms I wanted to put flooring in. The gentleman who called me was so accommodating and came after his normal working hours to measure because I couldn't take off work early that particular week. The measurement was quick and it surprised me how knowledgeable he was on flooring, he was an all around nice guy. It was a little more frustrating to get a quote because there was only one staff member who knew how to get things done. However, when I did she was AWESOME! I made an appointment for when I knew she would be because at the point I wasn't going to deal with anyone else. She took the time to discuss the flooring and make suggestions for my budget. She knew her stuff and a week or so later I received a quote. I went in to pay and she did what she could to help keep me within my budget. The contractors (Keller) that Lowe's sent to install did a wonderful job although they were a few hours late getting to my house for install on the first day. When they did arrive they were very apologetic and worked their tales off. They did a beautiful job (which I've posted pictures of). The process was a bit frustrating in the beginning but ended with great results. I wish I could give 5 stars but the beginning of the process was so frustrating that if I hadn't been persistent I probably would've gone somewhere else. If you need flooring and you go to the Lowe's in West Ashley ask for Deborah in flooring. She is amazing and very knowledgeable! read more

LG Refrigerator at home died on Saturday night and Sunday went down to Lowe's as a family to choose a new refrigerator. After careful consideration, my wife was pressed for the Samsung 27-cu ft 3 door French Door refrigerator with ice maker, however it was a bit out of the price range we agreed upon. We settled for the Whirlpool 28.4-cu ft side by side refrigerator with ice maker. We were told positively that the Whirlpool was in stock and will be delivered on today, Tuesday between 8am-12pm. I had taken the day off to ensure I was here to receive the refrigerator. By 12pm, no delivery had shown up and I called Lowe's as to the status of my delivery. I gave the customer service representative my Order number and was then told the Whirlpool refrigerator I ordered was backordered until May! I was livid as I have been storing my perishables in coolers and food had already began to turn bad and needed to be thrown. I was absolutely counting on this delivery today and was really irate that Lowe's had failed me. I physically went down to the West Ashley store demanding to speak to the General Manager over this total mess! I got to Lowe's and found Chris Gentry, the GM. I explained the entire sale and delivery expectations from what happened. I explained the loss of around $350 worth of food gone bad trying to keep in coolers as well as taking time off work to receive the delivery. Now the inventory system says May when I had been told in stock and delivered today? We desperately needed that refrigerator delivered today and I wanted an immediate return and cancellation of the order. Chris Gentry was amazing. He had the Regional Manager coming in today to see the West Ashley store and stopped EVERYTHING he was doing to fix this issue. He called over Appliance Specialist Kyle Dennison to immediately inventory what was time now available, and both these fantastic guys went ABOVE AND BEYOND the realm of customer satisfaction due to the company's incorrect inventory system, failure to deliver as promised, my loss in perishables and time off work to receive the Whirlpool. Chris and Kyle went beyond to give me an INCREDIBLE DEAL on the Samsung 27-cu ft 3 door French Door refrigerator ice maker that was out of our price range at a significantly higher price, FOR THE SAME PRICE, as the Whirlpool that was not delivered and on backordered until May. Now THIS is what I call Great American Customer Service and it is great to know it is alive and well at the West Ashley Lowe's location! I want to deeply thank these two Gentlemen and ensure this review reaches out to as many as possible! This Lowe's is much better than the Home Depot across the street - better selection, more merchandise, and layout of the store makes more sense when looking for items. Easier to find what I need and go. Huge tree and plant selection during Spring (of course HD does now too; just not much at HD next door rest of year). Actually had a price change go my way here; shelf said $10, online said clearance for $8, but rang up $5 at checkout. Only negative is sometimes have to wait a bit in line to check out. read more

So far I have no complaints about this location. I'm not a fan of having to go to home improvement stores unless it's to look at the outdoor furniture or kitchen models in the back. No one judges me for sitting on the outdoor furniture in the garden center when I'm waiting on my husband to look at nuts and bolts, and such. Most of the time when we pass and employee they ask if we need help finding something. We will definitely be coming back. "I've got friends in Lowe's places" ... ok, that was a stretch, but this really is a friendly location and for the most part they almost always have what you need in stock, and if they don't, it's just a day or two arrival time with an online order. Garden center is freshly stocked with plants that don't look like they're about to die the minute you put them in the ground, which is nice. I've used the paint center for mixing various colors too, and the staff was very friendly and didn't just take orders and send you on your way. Nice conversation was had about the purpose for the colors and what I was building, and I was even referred to as "the Lego guy" on my way out because I was building a Lego table for my son and using the colored paint to decorate it. read more

I used to be a Home Depot only gal, I grew up with only a Home Depot nearby, but no Lowe's. Now that I have the option to choose between the two (conveniently located right across the street from each other!) I definitely choose Lowe's. They almost always have what I need, have better options with compost and natural soil solutions in stock at lower prices. I got quality plants from them this year for our vegetable garden, so far all are still growing strong! I used the mushroom compost and an organic garden soil for my raised beds and the combo is working nicely. I've gotten other various products from light fixtures to bulbs to screws and other tools. Everything is easy to find I just look the product up on their website for my store and it will tell me exact aisle and bay location. Generally they have better choices than Home Depot, if not better then at least the same choices are comparable prices. I also just generally like the set up and flow of the store more than Home Depot. That's just personal preference though! Service is always pleasant, they could use more than two cashiers in the garden center during spring time but I didn't mind the wait was still not bad. They also give a 10% discount for military members! Word of warning this location can get very busy on a Saturday midday so try to go early or late to avoid crowds. It's not terribly busy but if you're getting big items or going to the garden center it's definitely easier to shop when less crowded. One thing I wish they'd work on is the organization and labeling in the garden center. The flowers are not labeled as clearly perennials versus annuals as they are at Home Depot. As someone who isn't super knowledgeable on plants I'd appreciate a little more signage. read more

My wife and I went to this Lowe's for some shelving. I needed a pipe strap to tie the shelving to a stud. One fellow sent me to plumbing. Asked the associate where it was and he said "aisle 27." So I go there. Nope. Couldn't find it so I return to the associate and ask again. He starts yelling at me and got mad. I go back to the aisle. Still can't find it. The guy comes to me and becomes very aggressive. Blocking my cart so I can't move. Yes, we got into a verbal confrontation when he blocked me and started yelling at me. Reported it to the manager. They said they would call us. No call. They don't care how they treat their customers. No matter, there are other big box and small box hardware stores. Never go here unless you enjoy being abused. read more

When I'm with my husband, we get employees asking us if we need help -- no matter where in the store we are. I go by myself and I'm completely ignored. I loaded 20 bags of mulch on a cart and there was an employee sweeping up spilled whatever nearby. Another trip I bought ten 12 foot long boards that needed to be cut down. I loaded them on the cart and took them to the saw -- no employees around. No call button to ask for assistance. I finally walked to the customer service counter to ask for help. The counter help looked around me to ask the man behind me what he needed!! She finally realized I was standing there and NOT with the previous man. I asked for help at the saw and you would think I had three heads with the look she gave me. Really, they need to learn that females can do DIY projects and are not just there with men. Returned to the saw -- no less than eight minutes later a rather sullen young man came to cut the wood for me. He measured and started to cut but I made him stop and align the boards on the end so that the cuts would be accurate. Then I had to ask him to measure again. I'm not kidding. Maybe he was having a bad day but I'm not buying boards that are cut incorrectly. I'll only return with my husband -- and because he loves Lowes so much is the only reason I'm adding a third star. read more

Being an Atlanta girl, it's hard not to love Home Depot. I can truly say that here in Charleston, I am a West Ashley Lowe's girl. The folks at Lowe's West Ashley (I am not as sweet on the other Lowe's) is the best group of folks around. I can always find someone to help me. Everyone remembers my name. Last week when I was in, they asked me how I like the cabinets I bought the week before. This Lowe's is like the Cheers of home improvement. The only way it could be better is if they sold beer. In September of 2017 I started a project at Lowes to re-do my kitchen from cabinets, counter tops, backsplash etc. We went with Lowes because of the fact we did not know a contractor and Lowe's advertises that they can manage a kitchen re-do from beginning to end. In October we made the purchase of all materials and paid installation costs. The incorrect cabinets were ordered and delivered to our house. Then they had to be picked up by a delivery company an have to refund the first payment. The process refunding money was difficult as well. Any way last week of December we finally reorder cabinets correct color. They arrived a week or so ago and found that some are damaged and have to be reordered. To add to all this communication is awful. About the only person that tries to help is our salesperson. I have talked to the store manager, the installation manager, the sales person's boss, the central project manager that is supposed to be managing our project, the installer and filed two formal complaints to Lowe's for general customer service and another formal one to the national installation service. I HAVE ONY HEARD FROM ONE PERSON.....MY SALESPERSON. That's it! Most people could build a small house in the amount of time this has taken and the mistakes are just unbelievable. The worst part is we have moved everything out of our kitchen since November of 2017 to get ready for this project. I hope this post saves someone a lot of headaches and you should search for another company/contractor to help with a home project. I really don't know what to do at this point with the amount of time we have invested in the project. Maybe Lowe's will figure out a way to make this right for us. I will keep my fingers posted. Wow....customer service is nonexistent!!! Stood at the service counter for 10 minutes while 4 Employees continued not to acknowledge/ignore me. One of the store reps "Brigget " was rude and condescending. I filed a complaint with the home office in NC..... was forced to do this because when I had the store manager called, he failed to come after another 10 minutes. What a bunch of losers!!!!
