Very thankful to have this convenient hardware store. My favorite part is the garden center outside. Veggies, annuals, carnivorous plants, houseplants and more. There usually a cute cat wondering around or napping too! The nursery staff are always helpful. The prices are a little higher than other places, but the products are great quality. read more

East Bay True Value Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Charleston, South Carolina

I called ahead to ask about a product, and the lady who answered the phone was incredibly kind and helpful in finding my item. Store staff was attentive and helpful. They knew where to find the items I asked for right away. Prices were fantastic- cheaper than I found on Amazon after looking. I'll be giving them more of my business when possible. Bonus: the store cat was cute and friendly as well read more

I will never shop there again. I hope the big box crushes them. Stopped by due to geographical convenience. Got the and the shelves were disorganized and poorly stocked. Got 2 valves and came back to return the one I didn't need. Had to jump through hoops to return the product. Took me 2 trips. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Manager was deaf to reasoning read more

The service was excellent and they knew exactly what I was looking for when I went into the store and described the item

I've been coming to this true value for 40 years. I've always been satisfied, yet today there was no excuse for the way I was treated and the lack of care that they wasted my time. I needed to get a pair of jumper cables because my wife's car wouldn't start. So one of the owners sends me to an aisle, telling me that's where I could find them, and there were none there. I finally went to the cashier and said either I'm blind or there aren't any jumper cables. She called another assistant who finally went and looked in the backstock and said no, we have none. They made me waste about 15 minutes looking for something that could've been handled in three minutes and on top of it why doesn't a store that has just expanded to three times a size have enough jumper cables on hand to satisfy the public. Then I tried to complain to the woman at the front counter for the way I was treated and she just replied "sir, sir" as if I was the one who was making the error. I said, "I have the right to vent", you guys are the only game in town and not having a pair of jumper cables when you need ithem makes things very difficult. After years of giving these people service, I'm done. They don't deserve my business. read more

Local Ace store, very helpful staff w/ great selection & lower price point options of quality tools where applicable. Could probably use a bigger store, but great use of the space they have. Will go back. read more

There's an old 12 step saying 'don't goto the hardware store for milk'. I hate sayings but this always gave me a chuckle. Cut to, a few weeks ago I went to this amazing hardware store and they have the most amazing Sandwiches I have ever had!! So the morale of the story is, 'sometimes you can get anything you want in a hardware store' read more

I wish I'd known about this place sooner!! We stopped in for pest control supplies and found tons of options! Kim was knowledgeable and couldn't have been more helpful!! After getting exactly what I was looking for in the pest control section, I was SO excited to find that they had an extensive selection of plants as well! Kim happily helped me pick the perfect succulent, and gave specific care instructions. Everyone was so helpful great experience read more

If you think you may need to return an item, don't buy it here. They don't do returns or exchanges. Go to a big box store. They will take it back. No questions asked. No hassle. read more

The guys that work here are awesome. You can't walk in the front door without someone asking "Can I help you?". Once you tell them what you're there for they walk you to the appropriate aisle and help you locate the particular item. Example: One day I walked in five minutes before closing time looking for a part for a faucet. The clerk asked me one question and after I answered said, "That's not the part you need, let me show you what you need." He then explained the entire repair to me....all of this for a $3 part. read more

I was walking past and saw a sign beckoning me to check out their baby chicks....it pulled me in like a chick magnet. The hardware store is located right downtown, and it was my first stop in my exploration of downtown. The chick-a-dees were uber cute in their fluffy chirping yellow glory. Oh, how I wanted to hold one....somehow I restrained...or maybe I restrained because their habitat had a secure top on it and I did not want to get bounced out of True Value. Other than the adorable baby animals, they had other items that really sets them apart from your average hardware...like stone Buddah's for your garden, live orchids and other live plants. It was a nice garden shop combined with a hardware. read more

I'm not really a power-tools kind of girl, but it's surprising how many times I pop in here. I've stopped by to have a spare key made, to look at paint samples, to buy a couple nails for a DIY project, and to pick up a hanging plant, among other things. They even delivered a small garden table I bought which I thought was great. read more

Bless 'em for given us Peninsularians a place to get what we need without a bridge trip, unbelievably long lasting lights at galactic intersections, and wide aisle after aisle of ... And I'm even allergic to cats!! read more

what a wonderful place, tucked in next to the vegetable bin and right next to the harris teeter. This place has everything and if it doesn't, they can probably order it. The senior staff has been there for decades and can help you out with any project. I especially love the seasonal displays and vintage jewelry and clothes for sale in the front. this place feels like a real general store. read more

I am so totally comfortable in this small hardware store. There is another family owned ( I believe ) lumber/hardware store further up the peninsula that always does that so familiar/subltle/hostile/condescending 'this place is for guys' thing when I go in. But never at East Bay True Value. I love that the woman there puts the pretty things she loves right out there with the pipe wrenches and WD40. Last time I was there I bought a saw blade, spackle, anchor bolts and an adorable mulit-colored scarf that's perfect for parties. This is a great place. Never die East Bay Hardware. You rock. read more

This is a place you need in your "mental speed dial". The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They help you get in and out quickly with exactly what you want. The price is always right because you only buy what you need - no five packs of whatever when you only need one. Keep your sanity. Go here. read more
